BUNKER HILL, W.Va. - Herbert G. "Guy" Burns, 70, of Bunker Hill, died Friday, June 25, 1999, at his home.
Born Jan. 18, 1929, in Greenbrier County, W.Va., he was the son of the late Kelcie Burns and Amy Marie Orndorff Burns Hill.
He was a veteran, serving in the U.S. Army.
He is survived by his wife, Fay E. McClung Burns; two sons, Daniel Guy Burns and Kelcie Kevin Burns, both of Bunker Hill; a brother, Thomas Jefferson Burns of Danville, W.Va; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Edith McClung; and a brother, Kelcie Harold Burns.
Graveside services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Pleasant View Memory Gardens.
Arrangements are by Brown Memorial Home, Martinsburg, W.Va.
Elizabeth F. Rowh
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Elizabeth F. Casto Rowh, 81, of Martinsburg, died Thursday, June 24, 1999, at City Hospital, Martinsburg.
Born July 25, 1917, in Spencer, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late James and Allie Vineyard Casto.
She was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Hayward Y. Rowh, former pastor of Calvary United Methodist Church, in 1981.
She was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church.
She is survived by a daughter, Deborah East of Martinsburg; a son, James Rowh of Jefferson, Md.; and four grandchildren, Jamie Rowh, Wes Rowh, Jonathan East and Kevin East.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Catherine Caine; and two brothers, James Casto and Charles Casto.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Calvary United Methodist Church. The Rev. Al Clipp will officiate.
The family will receive friends today from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg. Visitation also will be Monday one hour before the services at the church.
Further funeral services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Sinnett-Taylor Funeral Home in Spencer. The Rev. Al Clipp will officiate. Burial will be in Meadows Cemetery, Spencer.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 9 to 11 a.m. before the services at the funeral home.

Richard W. Riley Jr.
GERRARDSTOWN, W.Va. - Richard W. "Rick" Riley Jr., 51, of Gerrardstown, died Thursday, June 24, 1999, at Veteran's Affairs Medical Center near Martinsburg, W.Va.
Born Jan. 24, 1948, in Berkeley County, W.Va., he was the son of Irma R. Gaynor Riley of Bunker Hill, W.Va., and the late Richard W. Riley Sr.
He served in the U.S. Navy.
He was a member of Berkeley Post No. 14, American Legion, and Newton D. Baker Post No. 896, VFW.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by two sisters, Deborah S. Jolander of Randallstown, Md., and Doreen Clark of Gerrardstown; a brother, Harold Riley of Bunker Hill; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be Monday at 1 p.m. at the Veteran's Affairs Chapel. The Rev. Leroy K. "Skip" Hurley Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery with military graveside services by Newton D. Baker Post No. 896, VFW; and Berkeley Post No. 14, American Legion.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg, W.Va.
Alice V. Bennett
CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Alice Virginia Smallwood Bennett, 80, of Charles Town, died Thursday, June 24, 1999, at Winchester Medical Center, Winchester, Va.
Born Sept. 16, 1918, in Charles Town, she was the daughter of the late Robert Lee and Pearl Bradfield Smallwood.
She retired from Perfection Garment Co. in Ranson, W.Va., where she was a supervisor in the pressing department.
She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church, Charles Town.
She was a member of AARP.
She is survived by two daughters, Patricia Pulse and Sandra Breeden, both of Charles Town; a son, William R. Bennett Jr. of Lowell, Mass.; four sisters, Dodee Wenger, Frances Brown and Florence Howell, all of Charles Town and Louise Droneburg of Morresville, Pa.; a brother, Donald Smallwood of Charles Town; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Michael; and four brothers, Rondo Smallwood Sr., Gilbert Smallwood, Robert Smallwood Jr. and Richard Smallwood.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, Charles Town. The Rev. Marcus Earp will officiate. Burial will be in Edge Hill Cemetery, Charles Town.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Violet V. Stotler
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Violet Vivian Stotler, 69, of Martinsburg, died Wednesday, June 23, 1999, at City Hospital in Martinsburg.
Born Feb. 2, 1930, in Winchester, Va., she was the daughter of the late Selby Henry and Corrine Thorea Waugh Johnson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Stotler, in 1967.
She attended Handley High School in Winchester, Va.
She worked as a waitress in Winchester. She later worked at Perfection Garment in Martinsburg. She was a homemaker.
She was a member of The House of the Lord in Martinsburg.
She is survived by a son, Roger Lynn Stotler of Martinsburg; a sister, June Edith Navagrockis of Newport News, Va.; two grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son, Alfred David Stotler; a sister, Betty Corinne Huff; and an infant brother.
Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at The House of the Lord, 929 N. High St., Martinsburg. Pastor Austin J. Caplinger will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Martinsburg.
The family will receive friends Friday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the church.

Walter M. Stender
BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Walter Michael Stender, 73, of Berkeley Springs, died Wednesday, June 23, 1999, at City Hospital in Martinsburg, W.Va.
Born Oct. 27, 1925, in Cleveland, he was the son of the late Walter and Bertha Leiman Stender.
He was a graduate of Baltimore Polytechnic Institute; and earned his bachelor's degree in civil engineering at Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore.
He worked until his retirement as a civil engineer with the U.S. Department of Defense, Washington.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Berkeley Springs and served on the Pastoral Concerns Committee.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Yolanda Emily Kaiser Stender; two daughters, Laura Stender of Crete, Greece, and Emily Gantner of Redondo Beach, Calif.; two sons, Walter Michael Stender Jr. of Corona del Mar, Calif., and Mark Edward Stender of Annapolis; a sister, Dorothy Otter of Baltimore; four grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Berkeley Springs. The Rev. Stephen J. Cuff will officiate.
