Eleanor M. Crump

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Eleanor M. Alabaugh Crump, 79, of Martinsburg, died Tuesday, April 27, 1999, at City Hospital in Martinsburg.

Born March 12, 1920, in Fulton County, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Oscar E. and Mary Hewett Litton.

Her first husband, Stanley E. Alabaugh, died in 1958.

Her second husband, Robert T. Crump, died in 1992.

She previously owned and operated Alabaugh Orchards.

She was of the Methodist faith.

She was a former member of Morgan County Board of Education.

She is survived by two sons, Stanley E. Alabaugh Jr. of Santa Maria, Calif., and Lee E. Alabaugh of Martinsburg; two stepdaughters, Barbara Smith of Martinsburg and Carolyn Michael of Inwood, W.Va.; one sister, Helen Lamberson of Williamsport; nine grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Homer Litton.

Services will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Hunter-Anderson Funeral Home, 106 S. Mercer St., Berkeley Springs, W.Va. The Rev. Albert L. Clipp will officiate. Burial will be in Greenway Cemetery.

A viewing will be at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m.

Joseph P. Fogle

SUMMIT POINT, W.Va. - Joseph Paul Fogle, 9, of Summit Point, died Tuesday, April 27, 1999, at his home.

Born May 23, 1989, in Winchester, Va., he was the son of Isaac L. and Tina L. Harbaugh Fogle.

He was a fourth-grade student at South Jefferson Elementary School.

He played baseball for the Braves in Summit Point Little League.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by one sister, Danielle, at home; one brother, Jessie, at home; maternal grandmother, Becky Harbaugh of Thurmont, Md.; paternal grandparents, Richard and Fran Gore of Harpers Ferry, W.Va., and Leroy and Mae Fogle of Emmitsburg, Md.; aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Jefferson Chapel Funeral Home in Ranson, W.Va. The Revs. Kristina Arntz and Larry Smoot will officiate. Burial will be in Masonic Cemetery in Middleway, W.Va.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m.

Lester L. Stewart

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Lester Lee "Bubbie" Stewart, 80, of Martinsburg, died Monday, April 26, 1999, at City Hospital.

Born May 27, 1918, in Berkeley County, W.Va., he was the son of the late, Boyd C. and Minnie Shipman Stewart.

He retired as a mechanic from Schmidt's Bakery.

A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served during World War II and the Korean War.

He was a member of Johnsontown Bible Church.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Gregory Shade Stewart; three daughters, Linda Leonard and Peggy Herrell, both of Martinsburg, and Kitty Horner of Inwood, W.Va.; one son, Randy Stewart of Martinsburg; three sisters, Dorothy Bowers of Martinsburg, Catherine Crawford of Inwood and Mary Stewart of Shippensburg, Pa.; one brother, Arthur Stewart of Martinsburg; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Margaret Mills; and three brothers, Gilbert Stewart, Charles Stewart and Isle Stewart.

Services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg. The Rev. L. Jack Rudy will officiate.

Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery with military services by Newton D. Baker Post 896, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Berkeley Post 14, American Legion.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

James T. Butts

BUNKER HILL, W.Va. - James "Jim" T. Butts, 77, of Bunker Hill, died Tuesday, April 27, 1999, at Rose Hill Nursing Home in Berryville, Va.

Born Aug. 30, 1921, in Berkeley County, W.Va., he was the son of the late James Butts and Margaret Richmond Butts Shade.

He was a member of Bunker Hill Presbyterian Church and served as an elder.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary Elizabeth Walters Butts; one daughter, Betty L. Butts Fulk of Bunker Hill; one son, Curtis Wayne Butts of Bunker Hill; two grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

He was preceded in death by four sisters, Madeline Butler, Izola Hite, Bessie Miller and Frances Shirley; and four brothers, Robert Shade, Mearle Shade, Clifford Shade and Denny Shade.

Services will be Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg, W.Va. The Rev. John E. Harris will officiate. Burial will be in Bunker Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made to Bunker Hill Presbyterian Church, in care of Treasurer, P.O. Box 660, Bunker Hill, WV 25413.

Hope B. Emery

BEDINGTON, W.Va. - Hope Boward Emery, 79, of Bedington, died Monday, April 19, 1999, at her home.

She was the daughter of the late Edward J. and Nellie Starliper Boward.

She was a 1938 graduate of Martinsburg High School; and attended business school for one year.

She was employed by E.J. Boward Watercress; Corning Glass, and she and her husband owned Emery Trucking Inc. until retiring.

She was a member of Bedington United Methodist Church, and taught Sunday school.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Arthur R. Emery; one daughter, Linda B. Smith of Martinsburg; two sons, Larry L. Emery and R. Wayne Emery, both of Martinsburg; one sister, Peggy Carter of Martinsburg; two brothers, Max Boward of Hedgesville and Emory A. Boward of Carlsle, Pa.; one stepbrother; one stepsister; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Faith Shafer and Ruth DeHaven; and three brothers, Roger Boward, Kenneth Boward and Charlie Boward.

Her remains were donated to the University of West Virginia Medical School.

A memorial service was held Thursday, April 22, at Bedington United Methodist Church.

Memorial donations may be made to Bedington United Methodist Church, 535 Scrabble Road, Martinsburg, WV 25401.

Nancy J. Green

CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Nancy Jo Ware Green, 61, of Pembroke Grove, died Sunday, April 25, 1999, at her home.

Born Jan. 10, 1938, in Clarksburg, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Howard M. and Mary Dale Bailey Ware.

She was a graduate of Baltimore City School of Practical Nursing.

She retired from Jefferson Memorial Hospital in Ranson, W.Va., as a licensed practical nurse, working in the Intensive Care Unit. She worked at Baltimore Regional Burn Center in Baltimore for 20 years.

She was of the Methodist faith.

She was a member and past president of West Virginia Licensed Practical Nursing Association, District 11 and was the state education chairwoman. She was a member of Eastern Regional Burn Center Flight Team. She was named the West Virginia Licensed Practical Nurse of the Year for 1998.

She is survived by her husband, Leslie Green; four children, Susan Brinkmeier of Winchester, Va., and Cheryl Green of Edgewood, Md., Forman Bradley Napier of Fallbrook, Calif., and Gary Green of Mount Airy, Md.; one sister, Loretta J. Hyman of Nutter Fort, W.Va.; two brothers, Robert Ware of Salem, W.Va., and Howard Ware of Mount Clare, W.Va.; and 11 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Geraldine Ware.

Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home in Charles Town. Pastor Clarence Davis Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Edge Hill Cemetery in Charles Town.

Friends will be received at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m.
