MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Minnie Gano Fogle, 86, of Martinsburg, died Sunday, Jan. 17, 1999, at her home.
Born Sept. 28, 1912, in Berkeley County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Charles and Ella Gano.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years, William L. Fogle Jr.; one daughter, Mary Lippart of New Market, Md.; four sons, Charles Fogle of Dickerson, Md., William Fogle of Chambersburg, Pa.; Phillip Fogle and Frederick Fogle, both of California.
She was preceded in death by two daughters, Edith V. Fogle Tanner and Ella B. Sine; three sisters, Pauline V. Carper, Mable I. Marker and an infant sister; and five brothers, Charles Gano, David Gano, Herman Gano, Allen Gano and Kenneth Gano.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg. The Rev. William C. Crowe will officiate. Burial will be in Paynes Chapel cemetery.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mae C. Wetzel
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Mae Catherine Cook Wetzel, 87, of Martinsburg, died Monday, Jan. 18, 1999, at Canterbury of Shepherdstown.
Born Oct. 4, 1911, in Columbia Furnace, Va., she was the daughter of the late Robert L. and Maude D. Johnson Cook.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred L. Wetzel Sr.
She was a member of Rosemont Grace Brethren Church.
She is survived by one daughter, June D. Calderone of Martinsburg; three sons, Fred L. Wetzel Jr., Bobby E. Wetzel and Ronald L. Wetzel, all of Martinsburg; two sisters, Mamie Rush of Mount Jackson, Va., and Gladys Helsley of Woodstock, Va.; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 12:30 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg. The Rev. Carl A. Baker will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Garland E. Getts
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Garland E. Getts, 73, died Friday, Jan. 15, 1999, at City Hospital.
Born Nov. 6, 1925, in Martinsburg, he was the son of the late Ellsworth J. and Isabelle Amelia Poole Getts.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Vallie M. Getts.
He was retired from T.H. Compton and formerly worked in the motor pool shop at the V.A. Center and with O'Boyle Tank Lines.
He attended Shenandoah Bible Baptist Church.
He was a Navy veteran, serving during World War II and the Korean War.
He was a member of Berkeley Post 14, American Legion.
He is survived by two stepdaughters, Betty Longerbeam of Berryville, Va., and Charlotte Frye of Ridgeley, W.Va.; two step-grandchildren and one step-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by one stepson, Charles Watson Jr., and one brother, Ernest E. Getts.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home. The Rev. Donald B. Smith will officiate. Burial will be in Bunker Hill cemetery.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Graveside military services will be by Newton D. Baker Post 896 VFW and Berkeley Post 14 American Legion.
Golie D. Gano
SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. - Golie Davis Gano, 90, of Shepherdstown, died Jan. 16, 1999, at Canterbury of Shepherdstown.
Born Jan. 13, 1909, in Berkeley County, W.Va., he was the son of the late John G. and Mary Ann Crim Gano.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Virginia McKee Gano.
He was a retired farmer.
He was a member of New Street United Methodist Church, Shepherdstown.
He is survived by one daughter, Louise Long of Shepherdstown; three sisters, Cora Small, Lillie Johnson and Mazie Lickey; two brothers, Robert Gano and W. Edward Gano Sr.; and a number of nieces and nephews. He was the last of his immediate family.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home. The Rev. Wendy Shullenbarger and the Rev. Keith W. Keidel will officiate. Burial will be in Elmwood cemetery.
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Carroll H. Johnson
MIDDLEWAY, W.Va. - Carroll H. "Pappy" Johnson, 86, of Middleway, died Sunday, Jan. 17, 1999, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital, Ranson, W.Va.
Born Dec. 19, 1912, in Middleway, he was the son of the late Charles H. and Edith Isler Johnson.
He retired in 1977 from the Martin-Marietta plant, Martinsburg, after 41 years as a construction superintendent.
He was a member of Middleway United Methodist Church, Middleway, where he served on the board of trustees, and Men's Bible Class.
He was a member and past member of Tri-Luminar Masonic Lodge 117 AF and AM, and Bethesda Chapter 16, Middleway.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mary Alda Pierce Johnson; one son, Thomas Johnson of Middleway; two grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Mary Light, Edith Grove and Helen Aguiar; and two brothers, Finley W. Johnson and Thomas Johnson.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, Charles Town, W.Va. The Rev. Charles Frum and the Rev. Patricia Drake will officiate. Burial will be in Middleway Masonic cemetery, Middleway.

Ethel M. Braxton
CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Ethel Martha Braxton, 85, of Charles Town, died Saturday, Jan. 16, 1999, at the home of her son, Maurice Braxton, in Charles Town.
Born Feb. 22, 1913, in Jefferson County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Georgia White Togans.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Lee Braxton, in 1984.
She was employed for 35 years at Charles Town Race Course and Shenandoah Downs Race Course.
She was a member of Wainwright Baptist Church, where she was a former member of the church choir.
She is survived by two children, Donald Maurice Braxton of Charles Town and Bernice A. Braxton of Martinsburg, W.Va.; a brother, James S. Togans of Harrisburg, Pa.; a grandchild; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by four sisters, Eunice Hall, Emma Togans, Dorabell Togans and Mamie Lewis; and four brothers, Leon Togans, Charles Togans, Theodore Togans and Clifton Togans.
Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Wainwright Baptist Church, Charles Town. The Rev. Walter Jackson will officiate. Burial will be in Johnsontown cemetery, Jefferson County.
The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, 310 Fairfax Blvd., Charles Town.
