INWOOD, W.Va. - Bessie Loretta Collis, 78, of Inwood, died Saturday, March 6, 1999, at Hillcrest Manor Nursing Home, Jefferson County, W.Va.
Born Aug. 20, 1920, in Berkeley County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Charles R. and Carrie McCauley Johnson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Calvin Collis.
She retired from the former Dunn Woolen Mill.
She is survived by three grandchildren, Jackie Butler, Thomas Collis and Wendi Pugh; seven great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son, Robert William Collis; two sisters, Katherine Parkinson and Carrie Stephens; and a brother, Walter McCauley.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg, W.Va. The Rev. Walter F. Bowers will officiate. Burial will be in Bunker Hill cemetery.
The family will receive friends today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Barbara A. Taylor
BOLIVAR, W.Va. - Barbara Ann Taylor, 69, of 1090 Washington St., died Friday, March 5, 1999, at Shenandoah Health Village Center, Charles Town, W.Va.
Born Oct. 6, 1929, in Washington, D.C., she was the daughter of the late Clifford Henry and Doswell Corean Lewis Taylor.
She attended Bolivar United Methodist Church.
She is survived by two sisters, Carolyn L. Wyndham of Bolivar and Bertha C. Martin of Leetown, W.Va.; a brother, Clifford M. Taylor of Leesburg, Va.; nine nieces and nephews; 10 great-nieces and great-nephews; and two great-great-nephews.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Eackles-Spencer Funeral Home, 970 Washington St., Harpers Ferry, W.Va. The Rev. Jim Hamrick will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Lutheran cemetery, Bolivar.
The family will receive friends today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Ted E. Wiley Jr.
BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Ted Eugene Wiley Jr., 47, of Berkeley Springs, died Saturday, March 6, 1999, at Morgan County War Memorial Hospital, Berkeley Springs.
Born June 25, 1951, in Nottoway County, Va., he was the son of the late Ted Eugene and Colon Adele Cook Wiley.
He was a 1969 graduate of Chesapeake High School, Chesapeake, Va.
He was employed as a florist in Richmond, Va., then as a partner in Riverside Florist, Tappahannock, Va., and most recently as a partner in the Heritage Trail Antique Mall. He was a partner in Dandy-Lion Bulldogs, a thoroughbred breeder and trainer of pedigreed and show bulldogs.
He was of the Protestant faith.
He was a past president of Battlefield Bulldog Club, Richmond, and Division II of the Bulldog Club of America.
He is survived by his companion of 18 years, Larry John Allen, at home; two sisters, Janette B. Totty of Chesapeake, Va., and Rebecca Lee Carter of Crewe, Va.; one brother, Ernest H. Lail of Midlothian, Va.; and several other nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, 306 Union Street, Berkeley Springs. Burial will be in Sunset Hill cemetery, Burkeville, Va., on Thursday at 12:30 p.m.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. The funeral home will be open Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. for the convenience of friends.
Leo V. Baldwin
SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. - Leo Von Baldwin, 48, of Shepherdstown, formerly of Keyser, W.Va., died Saturday, March 6, 1999, at City Hospital, Martinsburg, W.Va.
Born Sept. 24, 1950, in Keyser, he was the son of the late John Yokum and Ruby Jane Sanders Baldwin.
He was self-employed as owner and operator of LVJ Construction.
He is survived by his close companion, Peggy Ketterman Carter of Shepherdstown; one daughter, Leanne Rebecca Baldwin of Montgomery Village, Md.; four sisters, Zora M. Henson of Smithsburg, Ginger Longwell of Barton, Md., Kay F. Hannas of Romney, W.Va., and Emily J. Genuse of Brunswick, Md.; two brothers, John R. Baldwin of Hedgesville, W.Va., and Ervin Scott Baldwin of Middletown, Md.; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 4 p.m. at Rotruck-Smith Funeral Home, Keyser. The Rev. Daniel Agnew will officiate. At his request, cremation will take place following the funeral service.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 and Tuesday from 3 to 4 p.m.
Buenos E. Spain
LEETOWN, W.Va. - Buenos Ellen Spain, 86, of Leetown, formerly of Moline, Ill., died Saturday, March 6, 1999, at Winchester Medical Center, Winchester, Va. She resided with her daughter, Margaret R. Utterback, in Leetown.
Born Nov. 16, 1912, in Brea, Iowa, she was the daughter of the late Raymond F. and Vesta L. Crawford Jeffryes.
She was retired from Moline Lutheran Hospital as a nursing aide. Before that she taught school in Adair County, Iowa, and was employed with the Board of Education in Moline.
She was of Methodist faith.
She is survived by one daughter, Margaret R. Utterback of Leetown; one son, Robert M. Spain of Moline; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Margaret Hook and Ona Mae Jeffryes; and one brother, Raymond Jeffryes. She was the last of her immediate family.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Oakwood cemetery, Casey, Iowa. The Rev. Jerry White will officiate.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 10 a.m. to noon at Mullen Funeral Home, Casey, Iowa.

CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Alyce Virginia Braxton, 84, of Charles Town, died Saturday, March 6, 1999, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital, Ranson, W.Va.
Born Oct. 8, 1914, in Charles Town, she was the daughter of the late James and Mamie Washington Bradford.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Mount Zion United Methodist Church, Charles Town, where she sang in the Senior Choir and was a Communion Steward. She was also a member of the Mount Zion United Methodist Church Prayer Chain Group.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Edward H. Braxton; two daughters, Fonda V. Jackson of Charles Town, and Vivian M. Mitchell of Herndon, Va.; two sisters, Genevieve Baylor of Charles Town, and Augusta Durant of the Bronx, N.Y.; two brothers, Frank Bradford of Charles Town and Ronald Blackwell of Elmsford, N.Y.; five grandchildren; and one step-greatgrandchild.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Georgia Morgan and Edna Newtow; and one brother, Jesse Bradford.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Mount Zion United Methodist Church, Charles Town. The Rev. J. Sherman Mason, Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens cemetery, Martinsburg, W.Va.
