MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Norland F. Bailey, 55, of Martinsburg, died Tuesday, Nov. 3, 1998, in Martinsburg.
Born Oct. 20, 1943, in Philadelphia, he was the son of Frederick Bailey of Philadelphia and Seylene Hayes Bailey of Philadelphia.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bernadette Ray Bailey.
He had been employed by the U.S. Postal Service.
He served with the U.S. Air Force.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by three daughters, Keya Bailey of Philadelphia, Juanita Bailey of Boothwin, Pa., and Emily Bailey of Newport News, Va.; a son, Norland E. Bailey of Bangor, Maine; and two grandchildren.
FALLING WATERS, W.Va. - Dorothy Ruth Ernde, 77, of Falling Waters, died Thursday, Nov. 5, 1998, at her home.
Born Sept. 4, 1921, in Chewsville, Md., she was the daughter of the late John Francis and Lonnie Rice Shilling.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James O. Ernde, in 1986.
She was employed by Hartle's Subs for 15 years, retiring in 1988. She also had been employed by Lonnie's Restaurant for a number of years.
She was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church.
She was a former member of Loyal Order of Moose 212. She was a member of VFW Auxiliary of Waynesboro; HBPA of Charles Town, W.Va.; and AARP.
She is survived by three daughters, Nancy Lee Gordon of Falling Waters, Lonnie Jean Ernde, at home, and Jamie Sue Hill of Hagerstown; a son, James Michael Ernde of Hagerstown; a sister, Edna White of Hagerstown; a stepbrother, John V. Strole of Bel Air, Md.; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
She also is survived by two dear friends, Donna Spickler and Patty Shantz, both of Hagerstown.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles Edward Shilling and Francis Leon Shilling.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. William Shilling will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill cemetery.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Dolores L. Kirby
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Dolores Louise Kirby, 64, of Martinsburg, died Thursday, Nov. 5, 1998, at Washington Hospital Center, Washington, D.C.
Born Feb. 15, 1934, in Martinsburg, she was the daughter of the late John and Ida Robertson Hull.
She was employed by CVS Pharmacy at Old Courthouse Square, Martinsburg.
She is survived by her husband, Roy L. Kirby Sr.; two daughters, Cynthia Furley and Lorrie Rogers, both of Martinsburg; two sons, Roy L. Kirby Jr. of Romney, W.Va., and David W. Kirby of Martinsburg; two brothers, Ronald Hull of Martinsburg and Joseph Hull of Baltimore; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg. The Rev. Keith G. Edwards will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m.
Robert G. Horner
RANSON, W.Va. - Robert George Horner, 69, of Ranson, died Saturday, Nov. 7, 1998, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital, Ranson.
Born March 2, 1929, in Berkeley County, W.Va., he was the son of the late James and Florence Lewis Horner.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorcas E. Magaha Horner, in 1996.
He attended Martinsburg High School, Martinsburg, W.Va.
He retired after 25 years with the Holladay-Tyler Co., Glendale, Md.
He was a veteran of the Korean War and served with the U.S. Army as a medic.
He was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church, Charles Town, W.Va.
He is survived by one brother, Lewis Horner of Martinsburg; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Mildred Palmer.
Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, Charles Town. The Rev. Dee-Ann Dixon will officiate. Burial will be in Edge Hill cemetery, Charles Town.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Mary E. Frick Jones
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Mary E. Frick Jones, 63, of Martinsburg, died Monday, Nov. 9, 1998, at the home of her son.
Born July 7, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Chrissman P. Stroop and Lovie Butts Sowers.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert D. Jones.
She is survived by two daughters, Deborah J. Shank and Cheri Lynn Kackley, both of Martinsburg; two sons, Donald E. Frick Jr. and Terry Frick, both of Martinsburg; two sisters, D. Jean Santmier and Frances Jones, both of Martinsburg; a brother, Louis Stroop of Tennessee; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Steven Frick; and an infant sister, Peggy Ann Stroop.
Private funeral services were held Tuesday, Nov. 10, at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg. The Rev. William C. Crowe officiated. Burial was in Rosedale cemetery.
Mary J. Faith
BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Mary Jane Faith, 84, of Route 6, died Sunday, Nov. 8, 1998, at Winchester (Va.) Medical Center.
Born Sept. 23, 1914, in Marion, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Calvin and Margaret Charlton Johnson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew C. Faith, in 1975.
She retired in 1966 from Locher Orchards in Hancock.
She was a member of Supreme Council of the House of Jacob in Hancock.
She is survived by one daughter, Drusilla F. Lopp of Berkeley Springs; one brother, Thomas R. Johnson of Hancock; two grandsons, James A. Lopp and Charles D. Lopp, both of Berkeley Springs; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Hazel Hoopengardner; and two brothers, Albert Johnson and John Johnson.
Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Supreme Council of the House of Jacob, Berm Road, Hancock. Bishop Paul Bowers and Advance Presiding Elder Timmy Strait will officiate. Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery.
Visitation will be at the church Wednesday one hour prior to the service.
