MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Owen Franklin Schifflett, 69, of Martinsburg, died Monday, Dec. 21, 1998, at his home.
Born Feb. 5, 1929, in Rockingham County, Va., he was the son of the late Ada Belle Schifflett Johnson.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bertha Faircloth Schifflett.
He was a self-employed accountant.
He served with the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.
He was a member of the House of the Lord Church in Martinsburg.
He served as chief deputy for the tax office in Martinsburg; was a member of VFW Post 896 in Martinsburg; and Junior Order of Mechanics.
He is survived by three sisters, Marie Lam, Virginia Gladys Van Metre and Anna Lee Johnson, all of Martinsburg; a brother, William "Bill" Schifflett of Martinsburg; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Schifflett.
Services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at Rosedale Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Frederick Schmidt and the Rev. Raymond Jones will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale cemetery.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Walter L. Olsen
KEARNEYSVILLE, W.Va. - Walter Louis "Red" Olsen, 75, of Fox Glen, died Tuesday, Dec. 22, 1998, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Martinsburg, W.Va.
Born Feb. 23, 1923, in Jersey City, N.J., he was the son of the late Louis and May Hendry Olsen.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Estella Rose Liller Olsen, in 1991.
He was formerly employed as a supervisor of City Works for the City of Rockville, Md.
He served in the U.S. Marines during World War II.
He was of Methodist faith.
He was a member of Jackson-Perks American Legion Post 71, Charles Town, W.Va., VFW Memorial Post 3522, Charles Town.
He is survived by one daughter, Pamela Rose Trigger of Mount Airy, Md.; three sisters, May Myers of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., Elenor Kiszkael and Veronica McKennan, both of New Jersey; a niece; and two great-nieces.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. in Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, Charles Town, W.Va. The Rev. Steven White will officiate. Burial will be private.
There will be no visitation.

John Van Buren Kite Jr.
CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - John "Buck" Van Buren Kite Jr., 79, of Charles Town, died Wednesday, Dec. 23, 1998, at Fairfax Hospital.
Born March 26, 1919, in Bardane, W.Va., he was the son of the late John Van Buren and Ollive Maude Henderson Kite Sr.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Agnes Fadeley Kite; and by his second wife, Elizabeth Robinson Kite.
He was the owner of Kite's Egg Factory until retirement; and he owned and hauled water for Kite's Water Hauling Service for 60 years.
He was in the U.S. Marine Corp.
He was of the Methodist faith.
He is survived by two daughters, Peggy Olen of Shannondale, W.Va. and Janet Magaha of Charles Town; a son, John David Kite of Kearneysville, W.Va.; four sisters, Lillian Blackford of Shepherdstown, W.Va., Marie Oden of Bakerton, W.Va., Eva Jones of Kearneysville and Louise Corun of Frederick, Md.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Kitty Butts; a grandson, Michael A. Slonaker; and a sister, Sallie Witt.
Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Jefferson Chapel Funeral Home, Ranson, W.Va. The Rev. Devin Ward will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens, Martinsburg, W.Va.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Donald J. Jordan Jr.
KEARNEYSVILLE, W.Va. - Donald J. Jordan Jr., 42, of Kearneysville, died Wednesday, Dec. 23, 1998, at his home.
Born March 13, 1956, in Hollywood, Fla., he was the son of Donald J. Jordan Sr. of New York City and Pauline Gordon Lydard of Charles Town, W.Va.
He was an electrician.
He was a U.S. Army veteran.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by a brother, Robert Thompson.
A memorial service will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Shenandoah United Methodist Church in Millville, W.Va. The Rev. James Hemrick will officiate. Burial will be private.

Earnest H. Holben Sr.
GERRARDSTOWN, W.Va. - Earnest Howard Holben Sr., 75, of Gerrardstown, died Thursday, Dec. 24, 1998, at Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Martinsburg, W.Va.
Born Aug. 4, 1923, in Berkeley County, W.Va., he was the son of the late Harold G. and Susie Butts Holben.
He was the owner and operator of Holben Masonry which he operated with his sons.
He was a constable for 16 years in Berkeley County. He also worked as a security guard for Sullivan Security.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He was a member of Martinsburg Seventh-day Adventist Church.
He was a member of Moose Lodge 120 VFW Post 896, American Legion Post 14, Gerrardstown Men's Club, C. B. Radio Club and South Berkeley Volunteer Fire Department.
He is survived by his wife, Isabell V. Holben; a daughter, Maria Ann Bartles of Gerrardstown; five sons, Earnest Holben Jr., Charles P. Holben and A. Leroy Holben, all of Martinsburg, Ronald L. Holben of Berryville, Va., and John G. Holben of Gerrardstown; two sisters, Francis Harmison and Viola Leonard, both of Martinsburg; two brothers, Harvey Holben and Harold B. Holben, both of Martinsburg; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Evelyn Clemmons; a brother, William L. Holben; and two half brothers, David Holben and Harvey Holben, both killed at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.
Services will be Sunday at 1 p.m. at Rosedale Funeral Chapel, Martinsburg. The Rev. John Yost will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale cemetery.
