Edwin A. Fitzpatrick Jr.

CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Edwin Abell "Eddie" Fitzpatrick Jr., 83, of Charles Town, died Monday, Dec. 28, 1998, at Shenandoah Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Charles Town.

Born Aug. 9, 1915, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Edwin A. and Sallie Emma Bolander Fitzpatrick.

He was a graduate of Forrest Park High School in Baltimore.

He retired as a self-employed photographer.

He was a member of St. Thomas Lutheran Church, Charles Town.

He was a charter member of Jefferson County Chapter Izaak Walton League.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Eleanor Bell Fitzpatrick; two children, Edwin A. Fitzpatrick III of Shepherdstown, W.Va., and Gail P. Ramsburg of Roswell, Ga.; a sister, Lillian Wright of Denton, Md.; two brothers, Robert V. Fitzpatrick of Florida and Charles L. Fitzpatrick of Catonsville, Md.; two grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at St. Thomas Lutheran Church, Charles Town. Pastor Richard E. Neal will officiate. Burial will be in Edge Hill cemetery, Charles Town.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 1 to 1:30 p.m. at the church.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Thomas Lutheran Church, 119 S. Seminary St., Charles Town, WV 25414; or Old Charles Town Library, 200 E. Washington St., Charles Town, WV 25414.

Arrangements are by Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, Charles Town.

Sarah E. Mickelinc

INWOOD, W.Va. - Sarah Elizabeth Mickelinc, infant daughter of Eric and Beth MacConaughey Mickelinc of Inwood, died Saturday, Oct. 10, 1998, at Winchester (Va.) Medical Center.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by maternal grandparents, Charles and Kay MacConaughey of Inwood; maternal great-grandmother, Ruth MacConaughey of Ranson, W.Va.; paternal grandparents, Pat Heck of Inwood and Steven Mickelinc of Martinsburg, W.Va.; paternal great-grandmother, Alice Mickelinc of Martinsburg; aunts; uncles; and cousins.

Graveside services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Pleasant View Memory Gardens.

Arrangements are by Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg.

Ruth L. Turek

CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Ruth L. Turek, 69, of Charles Town, died Wednesday, Oct. 14, 1998, at City Hospital, Martinsburg, W.Va.

She was born Aug. 10, 1929, in Germany.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Turek.

She is survived by two sons, Uwe Moysich of Kolbermoon, Germany and Steven Turek of Charles Town; and three grandchildren.

Services will be private. Burial will be in Germany at a later date.

Arrangements are by Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg.

Mary A. Defries

CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Mary Angela Samora Defries, 64, of Charles Town, died Wednesday, Sept. 30, 1998, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital, Ranson, W.Va.

Born Feb. 25, 1934, in Palacios, Texas, she was the daughter of Agnes Gutiarrez Samora of Texas and the late Porfina Samora.

She and her husband owned and operated The Little Italy Deli in Charles Town. Earlier they owned and operated a deli in Culpeper, Va.

She was a Protestant.

She was a member of Kabletown Homemakers Extension Club and Quilters Guild. She volunteered with a literacy program and Jefferson County Meals on Wheels.

She served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. She received the National Defense Service Medal.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband of 25 years, John C. Defries; a daughter, Gail S. Murphy of Charles Town; seven sisters, Mary Jane Samora, Olivia Vela, Lou Korbots, Rebecca Krushall, Gloria Guajardo, Linda Deadmond and Dora Samora, all of Texas; two brothers, Pete Samora and Daniel Samora, both of Texas; and two grandchildren.

Services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, Charles Town. Burial will be private.

The family will receive friends Saturday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Shirley M. Wenth

BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Shirley Mae Wenth, 72, of Berkeley Springs, and formerly of Gambrills, Md., died Wednesday, Sept. 30, 1998, at her home.

Born June 12, 1926, in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late Samuel Thomas and Frances Regina Reely Gary.

She was a homemaker.

She was a Seventh-day Adventist.

She is survived by three daughters, LaVerne E. "Snooks" Couch of Berkeley Springs, Shirley Mae Southerland of Finksburg, Md., and Frances C. Wagner of Baltimore; four sons, Frederick P. "Sonny" Wenth of Havre de Grace, Md., and Ernest T. Wenth, Duane S. Wenth and Charles R. Wenth, all of Baltimore; a sister, LaVerne E. Myerick of Pasadena, Md.; 18 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by five sisters, Helen Ricker, Mary Tripplett, Leona Gary, Ruth Clark and Letha Boone; and four brothers, Samuel Gary, James Gary, Lloyd Gary and Marion "Bud" Gary.

Services and entombment will be today at 10 a.m. at Glen Haven Mausoleum of Glen Burnie, Md. Pastor Maury Bascomb will officiate.

Arrangements are by Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, Berkeley Springs.

Charles T. Goff

KEARNEYSVILLE, W.Va. - Charles Trenton Goff, 54, of Mountain View Estate, died Thursday, Oct. 1, 1998, at Mountain View Estate.

Born Aug. 28, 1944, in Sutton, W.Va., he was the son of T.L. Goff of West Virginia and the late Sarah L. Thomas Goff.

He owned and operated C & L Plumbing-Excavation Co., Kearneysville.

He was a member of Tri-State Baptist Church, Charles Town, W.Va.

In addition to his father, he is survived by his wife of 36 years, Lorraine "Teddy" Collins Goff; two sons, Scott W. Goff Sr. of Kearneysville and Charles T. "Chuck" Goff Jr. of Charles Town; a sister, Jean Ashby of Charles Town; two brothers, Thomas L. Goff Sr. of Churchill, Tenn., and Carl C. Goff Sr. of Charles Town; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Matthew Robert Goff, in 1989.

Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, Charles Town. The Rev. Dennis Griffin, the Rev. Robert Campbell and Pastor Ray Love will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale cemetery, Martinsburg, W.Va.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the Panhandle, 2015 Boyd Orchard Court, Martinsburg, W.Va. 25401.

Thomas O. Miller Sr.

INWOOD, W.Va. - Thomas Otis "Bud" Miller Sr., 67, of Inwood, died Friday, Oct. 2, 1998, at City Hospital, Martinsburg, W.Va.

Born July 30, 1931, in Berkeley County, W.Va., he was the son of the late Otis G. and M. Lavin Fox Miller.

He retired from Corning Glass Plant in Martinsburg.

He was a U.S. Army veteran.

He was a member of Tomahawk Christian Church.

He was a member of Corning Retirees.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Genevieve Butts Miller; two daughters, Carrie J. Church and Wendy G. Hess, both of Berkeley County; three sons, Rickey T. Miller and Glenn M. Miller, both of Berkeley County, and Thomas O. Miller Jr. of Jefferson County, W.Va.; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Rosedale Funeral Chapel, 2060 Rosedale cemetery Road, Martinsburg. Pastor Jack Rudy will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale cemetery.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
