BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Margaret Helen Yost, 92, of Berkeley Springs, died Monday, Nov. 2, 1998, at Greater Southeast Community Hospital, Washington, D.C.
Born Nov. 7, 1905, in Morgan County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late John and Amelia Kooser Foreman.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ercel Linwood Yost, in 1973.
She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Berkeley Springs; a member of Ladies Aid Society; and Women's Missionary Society.
She was a member of AARP; Kitchen Band; was a Gold Star Mother of Alderton-Dawson American Legion Post 60; and a member of Risinger-Stotler VFW Post 4019, all in Berkeley Springs. She was a volunteer for Retired Seniors Volunteer Program; and was active with the Nutrition Program of Morgan County Commission on Aging.
She is survived by two daughters, Virginia Eva Edens of Washington, D.C., and Ida May Minnick of New Market, Va.; a sister, Reba May of Connellsville, Pa.; two granddaughters; eight great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; four great-great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son, Vernon Ray Yost; two daughters, Anna Ruth Dolly and Irene E. Elmore; a brother, Harry Foreman; two sisters, Mary Foreman and Mary May; a grandson, and a granddaughter.
Services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, 306 Union St., Berkeley Springs. Pastor Wayne Frum will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Tabor cemetery, Berkeley Springs.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home, which will be open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Lee W. Stephens
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Lee W. Stephens, 71, of Martinsburg, died Thursday, Nov. 12, 1998, at Winchester Medical Center, Winchester, Va.
Born Nov. 3, 1927, in Martinsburg, he was the son of the late William W. and Ethel Orr Stephens.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Opal Gay Stephens.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during World War II.
He is survived by a daughter, Barbara Stephens; two stepdaughters, Janice Lee Lewis of Martinsburg and Judith Lewis Maness of St. Louis; three sisters, Reva Weakley of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Evalee Bolner of Martinsburg and Mary Louise Nesselrodth of Las Vegas; two stepgrandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg. G. Edward Grove will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale cemetery.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

John A. Small
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - John A. Small, 64, of Martinsburg, died Saturday, Nov. 28, 1998, at Winchester Medical Center, Winchester, Va.
Born Nov. 19, 1934, in Berkeley County, he was the son of the late Howard B. and Margaret A. "Peggy" Hanshew Small.
He was retired from CSX Railroad, where he worked for 33 years.
He served in the U.S. Navy.
He was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, where he formerly served on the vestry.
He was a member and past master of Robert White Lodge 67, A.F.&A.M., Scottish Rite, Order of the Eastern Star, Eastern Panhandle Past Master's Club, Martinsburg Lodge 120, Loyal Order of Moose and Shenandoah Forest 150, Tall Cedars of Lebanon.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Doris Wilson Small; one daughter, Johnna M. Laign of Inwood, W.Va.; one son, Stephen H. Small of Hedgesville, W.Va.; one sister, Margaret D. Butler of Martinsburg; two brothers, Dennis B. Small of Maugansville and Richard E. Small of Front Royal, Va.; and one grandchild.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Howard A. Small and David H. Small.
Services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg. The Rev. Jack T. Sutor Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale cemetery. Graveside services will be conducted by Robert White Lodge 67, A.F.&A.M. Military graveside services will be conducted by Berkeley Post 14, American Legion and Newton D. Baker Post 896, Veterans of Foreign Wars.
The family will receive friends today, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
All master masons will meet at the Masonic Temple Tuesday at 10 a.m. before going to the funeral home.

Beatrice C. Somers
WILEY FORD, W.Va. - Beatrice C. Somers, 84, of Wiley Ford, died Monday, Nov. 30, 1998, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born Jan. 18, 1914, in Sleepy Creek, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Howard F. and Viola Kesecker Fox.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph B. Somers.
She was a homemaker.
She is survived by three daughters, Yvonne Ogg of Damascus, Md., Jean Kramer of Baltimore and Kay Morin of Oldtown, Md.; one son, Ralph B. Somers of Frederick, Md.; two sisters, Leona Carbaugh of Hedgesville, W.Va., and Neva Richwine of Carlisle, Pa.; two brothers, Ray Fox of Cherry Run, W.Va., and Hennis Fox of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, George K. Somers.
Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Miracle Center Church, Hedgesville. Burial will be in Crossroads cemetery, Hedgesville.
Friends will be received today from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Scarpelli Funeral Home, 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, Md., and Wednesday, one hour prior to the service at the church.
Estalene G. Manning
BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Estalene G. Manning, 99, a resident of Valley View Nursing Home, and who formerly resided with Tootie and Ed James of Hancock, died Sunday, Nov. 29, 1998, at the nursing home.
Born April 17, 1899, in Warfordsburg, Pa., she was the daughter of the late William and Ella Litton Golden.
She was a member of Hancock Presbyterian Church and the Womens Circle of the church.
She is survived by two daughters, Virginia M. Rintoul of Odenton, Md., and Pauline E. James of Hancock; one son, Eugene L. Manning of Pouqson, Va.; five grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Bertha Kirk, Mamie Barnhart and Vida Manning; three brothers, Earl Golden, Charlie Golden and twin brother, Eugene Golden; and one grandson.
Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Hancock Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Margee Iddings will officiate. Burial will be in Warfordsburg Presbyterian cemetery, Warfordsburg.

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Robert Martin Caton, 69, of Martinsburg, died Tuesday, Dec. 1, 1998, at the University of Maryland Hospital in Baltimore.
Born Nov. 13, 1929, in Berkeley County, W.Va., he was the son of the late Charles B. and Mary Koontz Caton.
He was a graduate of St. Joseph High School.
He retired from AT&T.
He served in the U.S. Army.
He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
He was a member of Knights of Columbus, Martinsburg.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Ziolkowski Caton; two daughters, Debbie Tabilio of Westminster, Md., and Barbara Caton of Martinsburg; three sisters, Agnes Barthelow of Dundalk, Md., Julia Rimel of Glen Burnie, Md., and Martha Delauney of Martinsburg; a brother, Joseph F. Caton of Glengary, W.Va.; a half sister, Linda Britner of Martinsburg; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Helen L. Brown; and two brothers, Paul E. Caton and Charles W. Caton Sr.
Services will be Friday at 2:30 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg. The Rev. John S. Ledford will officiate. Burial prayers will be said in Rosedale cemetery and Newton D. Baker Post 896 VFW and Berkeley Post 14 American Legion will conduct a military graveside service.
