Genevieve H. Long, 86, of Hurricane died Friday, October 15, 2004, at SunBridge of Putnam, Hurricane.
She was a retired receptionist and switchboard operator with the West Virginia Highways with 25 years of service. She was a Protestant by faith and a nine-year resident of Hurricane, formerly of Charleston.
She was a preceded in death by her husband, Ralph L. Long, parents, Charles Jefferson and Louise Gwinn Griffith, two brothers and six sisters, and grandson, Kevin Long.
Surviving: son and daughter-in-law, Jack L. and Ann Long of Prescott, Arizona; daughter and son-in-law, Susan K. and James L. Smith of Hurricane; sister, Fern Stover of Ironton, Ohio; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.
Service was held Monday, October 18, 2004, at Chapman Funeral Home, Teays Valley, with the Rev. Gerry White officiating. Burial was in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes.
Dennis Michael Biggs
Dennis Michael Biggs, 54, of Winfield died October 14, 2004, at his residence.
Chapman Funeral Home, Winfield, was in charge of arrangements.
Leatha Ann Davis, 76, of Winfield died Friday, October 15, 2004, at Putnam General Hospital after an extended illness.
She was a homemaker and a member of Clark Memorial and a lifelong resident of Putnam County.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Minnie Bayes, her husband, Russell Davis, her daughter, Phyllis Ann, four sisters and a brother.
Surviving: brothers, William Bayes and wife, Ruth, of Winfield, Raymond Bayes and wife, Doris, of Ohio; several nieces and nephews.
Service was held Tuesday, October 19, 2004, at Chapman Funeral Home, Winfield, with Pastor Marshall G. Bonecutter officiating. Burial was in Fraziers Bottom United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Emogene Brown
Emogene Brown, 91, of Eleanor died Sunday, October 17, 2004, at home following a short illness.
She was a homemaker and a lifelong resident of the Putnam County area.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Brown, a son, Ronald Brown Jr., and a brother, Ray Taylor.
Surviving: daughters, Marguerite Angelo of Tampa, Florida, Marlene Egnor of Eleanor, and Marion Pond of Sayre, Pennsylvania ; sisters, Norma Lee Hayes of St. Albans and Geraldine Bayless of Eleanor; 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren.
Service was held Wednesday, October 20, 2004, at Raynes Funeral Home, Buffalo, with the Rev. Joseph Moles officiating. Burial was in Beech Grove Cemetery, Eleanor.
Victor Nelson Paul
Victor Nelson Paul of Stockton, California and former resident of Scott Depot, died February 5, 1996.
He was born July 3, 1933 in Scott Depot to Sam and Mary Belle Paul. He was a graduate of Hurricane High School and worked as a glass worker for Libby Owens Ford for 33 years. He served in the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1958.
He was an active member of the Lions organization, having served as a member and president of the Lathrop-French Camp and South Stockton Lions Clubs. He was actively involved in Camp Pacifica for many years, which is a camp for hearing-impaired children. He was an avid WVU and San Francisco 49ers fan and enjoyed traveling.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Vincent Paul.
Surviving: sons, Victor Paul and wife, Linda of Omaha, Nebraska and Scott Paul and wife, Jeannette of San Francisco; brothers, Sam E. Paul Jr. of Texas and Eugene Paul of Ohio; sisters, Fannie McCallister, Elsie Dailey and Dinah Filippone, all of St. Albans, and Phyllis Boyd of Virginia; grandchildren, Stephanie and Jonathon Paul of Omaha.
A memorial service was held Saturday, October 23, 2004, at Peery & St. Clair Funeral Home, Tazewell, Virginia, with Dr. James H. Grant officiating. Burial was in Maplewood Cemetery, Tazewell.
Diann Myers
Diann Myers, 53, of Scott Depot, formerly of Huntington, Winfield and Barboursville, died Wednesday, October 20, 2004, in St. Mary's Medical Center, Huntington.
She was born June 23, 1951 in Huntington, a daughter of the late Clarence Counts and Mary Napier. She was a loving mother and homemaker.

Judith Ann Foster
Judith Ann “Judy” Foster, 48, of Hurricane died October 21, 2004, at St. Mary's Medical Center, Huntington.
Born October 24, 1955 in Huntington, she was the daughter of Ruby Lucille Young Foster and the late Elmer O'Dell Foster.
She was an employee of Putnam County Aging, a member of Adda Baptist Church and a lifelong resident of Putnam County.

Lottie Belle Craig
Lottie Belle Beckner Craig, 87, died Friday, October 22, 2004.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Ruth Beckner, brothers, Patrick, Okey, James, Andrew and Edward Beckner, sister, Hazel Lowry, her husband of 52 years, Clinton Craig, daughter, Marilyn Crump, son, Mark Craig; grandson, Carroll Craig, great-grandsons, Bobby Henry and Charlie Buck.

Charley Burns
Charley Burns, 93, of Scott Depot died Friday, October 22, 2004, at Putnam General Hospital.
Born November 2, 1910 in Scott Depot, he was the last surviving: of six children born to the late James Thomas Burns and Zora Joyce Burns. He was also preceded in death by his wives, Violet Guthrie Burns and Alma Guthrie Burns, and sons, Charles, James, Henry, Troy and Jackie Burns.
He was retired from the C&O Railroad.
Surviving: son, Roy Thomas Burns of Hurricane; 20 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Service was held Sunday, October 24, 2004, at Chapman Funeral Home, Teays Valley, with the Rev. Greg Hudson officiating. Burial was in Mount Vernon Cemetery, Hurricane.
Gordon Daniel Hazelett
Gordon Daniel Hazelett, 51, of Ona went home to be with his Lord Friday, Oct. 22, 2004, at his residence. Funeral services were conducted Monday, Oct. 25, 2004, at Beulah Ann Missionary Baptist Church, Ona, with Pastor Paul Meadows officiating. Burial in Arthur Cemetery, Ona. Gordon was born January 28, 1953, in Cabell County, a son of the late Harlan and Juanita Welch Hazelett. He was a member of Beulah Ann Missionary Baptist Church. He was a retired First Sergeant from the United States Army, a member of the American Legion and a 1970 Barboursville High School graduate. Gordon is survived by his loving wife, Bernice Childers Hazelett; one son, Jeremy Hazelett; three stepchildren, Christy Holley and husband, Scottie, Dee Sargent and husband, Todd and James Clagg and wife, Trudy; three grandchildren, Josh Holley, Whitlee Clagg and Madison Sargent; one sister, Amy Chapman and husband, Donnie; two nieces, Shelley Morgan and Charity Kelley; and two nephews, Gary Chapman and Kevin Chapman. Heck Funeral Home, Milton, was in charge of arrangements.
Eugene Reynolds
Eugene Reynolds, 76, of Salt Rock, W.Va., passed away Sunday, October 17, 2004, at his residence. He was born September 13, 1928, in Cabell County, West Virginia, a son of the late Walter and Tena Perry Reynolds. He was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond Reynolds and his sister, Pauline Gibson. He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Virginia Miller Reynolds; one daughter, Patricia Wilcoxon and her husband Greg; two sons, Kevin Reynolds and his wife Pamela and Randall Reynolds and his wife Dreama, all of Salt Rock; two sisters, Maxine Morrison of Georgia and Geneva Harshbarger of Milton; six grandchildren, Jessica and Ashley Wilcoxon Christopher and Sarah Reynolds, Johnathan and Miranda Reynolds and two step grandchildren, Shanil and Brianna Perry, all of Salt Rock; and a very special friend, Lloyd Kincaid. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was employed at CSX in Barboursville for 43 years. Special thanks to Hospice of Huntington, Brenda, Crystal, Hope and Sherry.
