Elizabeth W. Harrison
Elizabeth Wallace "Wallie" Harrison, 74, of Birch Street, Beckley, died Sunday, Jan. 31, 1999, at the home of her daughter following a short illness.
Born April 19, 1924, at Helen, she was the daughter of the late John Low and Marion "Minnie" Venters Wallace.
Mrs. Harrison spent her childhood in Raleigh County, graduating from Mark Twain High School. She also graduated from Kanawha Valley School of Nursing at West Virginia Tech.
Mrs. Harrison was a public health nurse in Boone County for over 30 years, coming to Beckley in 1978. She worked as a nursing supervisor at the Autumn Years Nursing Home and Hill Top Nursing Home, retiring in 1988. She was a member of the First Christian Church, Courthouse Square and the AARP, past president of the West Virginia Public Health Nurse Association and former member of the Eagles.
She was preceded in death by a son, Russell Guy Harrison II in 1957.
Survivors include two daughters, Marion Harrison of Mabscott and Kitty Harrison of Huntington and several cousins.
Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at the First Christian Church, Courthouse Square, Beckley, with the Rev. Russell Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park cemetery, Beckley.
Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. today at Melton Mortuary, Beckley, and an hour before services at the church.

Ira O. Holliday Jr.
Ira O. Holliday Jr., 76, died Jan. 31, 1999, in a VA medical center following a short illness.
Born July 13, 1922, at Sprague, he was the son of the late I.O. and Elizabeth F. Holliday.
Mr. Holliday was retired from the VA Medical Center with 33 years of service. He was a World War II veteran, having served with the U.S. Navy, a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 95 of Beckley, a charter member of Beckley Gun Club and a life member of the National Rifle Association. He was an amateur radio operator, a member of the First Baptist Church of Beckley and a graduate of Concord College.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Leona M. Godbey Holliday.
Survivors include three sons, John and wife, Cathy, Tom and wife, Sandra and Dr. Mark and wife, Julia, all of Beckley; a daughter, Peggy and husband, Raymond Cox of MacArthur; two brothers, James Holliday of Flat Top Lake and Robert Holliday of Florida; a sister, Ialeene Boggs of Tallahassee, Fla.; five grandchildren, Kristin and Michael Holliday, Angela Cox, Marley Holliday and Josh Ward; several stepgrandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens Chapel of Faith with Dr. David Carrico officiating. Masonic services will be conducted by Beckley Masonic Lodge No. 95 AF and AM.
Friends may call 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at Calfee Funeral Home, Beckley.

W.L. "Bus" Kelley
W.L. "Bus" Kelley, 82, of MacArthur, formerly of Leslie, died Monday, Feb. 1, 1999, at the home of his daughter, Kathy Mimms, following a long illness.
Born Oct. 30, 1916, in Paradise, he was the son of the late Aaron Columbus and Sarah Belle Craigo Kelley.
Mr. Kelley was a retired coal miner and member of the UMWA.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Mildred Kelley, Clydie Lewis and Julia McClanahan and three brothers, Pete, William and Jesse Kelley.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Jo Mahood Kelley; three daughters, Sarah Henson and husband, Randy of Suffolk, Va., Kathy Mimms and husband, Steve of Chester, Va. and Donna Knapp and husband, Tim of Chester; two sons, Lugene Kelley and wife, Bonnie of Leslie and Paul Tindilia and wife, Dodie of Edgewood, Md.; two sisters, Martha Radziszewski of Hampstead, Md. and Winifred Kinder of Annapolis, Md.; a brother, George R. Kelley of Bradley; 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Wallace and Wallace Funeral Home Chapel, Rainelle, with the Rev. Daniel Legg officiating. Burial will follow in End of the Trail cemetery, Clintonville.
Friends may call 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Jocie G. Kincaid
Jocie G. Kincaid, 79, of Beckley, died 7:25 a.m. Monday, Feb. 1, 1999, in a Beckley care center following a long illness.
Born Sept. 16, 1919, at Abraham, she was the daughter of the late Samuel L. Kincaid and Estaline Vance Kincaid.
Miss Kincaid was a retired registered nurse with 41 years of service. She was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church and a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School and Hinton Hospital School of Nursing.
She had worked in Cabell County Health Department and Hospitals in the Huntington area.
She was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.
Survivors include two sisters, Ocie Bennett of Sullivan Road, Glen Morgan, and Thelma Wilburn of Kilsyth; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel with Pastor Jim Lough and the Rev. Daniel Legg officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Beckley.

ROCKBRIDGE BATHS -- Ruth Fitzgerald McCurdy, 90, died Sunday, Jan. 31, 1999, in a Lexington, Va. care center.
Born June 19, 1908, in West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Adolphus Fitzgerald and Agnes McCormack Fitzgerald.
Mrs. McCurdy was a member of the New Monmouth Presbyterian Church and the Eastern Star. She was retired from the Tailor Shop at VMI.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Collin C. McCurdy.
Survivors include a daughter, Elizabeth M. Burch of Rockbridge Baths; two sons, John C. McCurdy of Alderson, Sydney Lee McCurdy of Colonial Heights; five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.

Dolly Rachel McGuire
OAK HILL -- Dolly Rachel McGuire, 74, died Saturday, Jan. 30, 1999 in an Oak Hill hospital following a short illness.
Born Dec. 1, 1924, at Browns Mountain, she was the daughter of the late Rev. J.I. Workman and Bertha Baxter Workman.
Mrs. McGuire was a member of the Pax Church of God, Pax, and was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Basil McGuire; two brothers, Leonard and Philip Workman; and five sisters, Maggie Hedrick, Nellie Kesterson, Iva Cowles, Athaline Hughes, and Evelyn Cowles.
Survivors include her children, Danny R. McGuire of Oak Hill, Johnny Lee McGuire of Gatewood, Donna McGuire Tanner of Ocala, Fla., Belinda Parrish of Minden, Brenda Gay Hicks Jungles of Franklin, N.C., Jack McGuire of Ansted, Randy McGuire of Scarbro, Terry McGuire of Mossy, and Jane Miller of Franlkin, N.C.; 34 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Olive Persinger of Fayetteville.
