Robert Henry Gray - 01/04/04

Services for former Wright resident Robert Henry Gray, 70, of Peoria, Ariz., will be at the David Bogner Family Funeral Home in North Ridgeville, Ohio, at 11 a.m. Jan. 6. Burial will follow at the North Ridgeville Cemetery.

Mr. Gray died Friday, Dec. 5, 2003, at Banner Thunderbird Hospital in Glendale, Ariz., of heart-related causes.

Mr. Gray was born in North Ridgeville on July 25, 1933. He lived in Wright until he retired from Kerr-McGee's Jacobs Ranch mine. After retirement, he lived in Peoria until his death.

He is survived by his daughters, Deborah Naylor of Peoria, Susan Wright of North Ridgeville and Kathy Gray of New London, Ohio; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Pauline E. Fitch - 01/06/04

Funeral services for Pauline E. "Pat" Fitch, 85, of Jordan, Mont., a former Gillette resident, were at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the VFW Hall in Jordan. A luncheon took place at the hall after the service.

Graveside services followed at Steve's Fork Cemetery in Jordan.

Mrs. Fitch died Sunday, Dec. 28, 2003, at her home near Jordan of natural causes.

She was born Oct. 11, 1918, in Douglas to Wheeler and Olga (Hendrickson) Eskew. She was raised and attended schools in Douglas. After graduation she attended Colorado Women's College and the University of Wyoming, where she graduated with a degree in accounting and marketing.

On July 29, 1941, she married Fred Fitch in Broadus, Mont. She joined the WACS and was stationed in Brownsville, Texas, during World War II and attained the rank of first lieutenant. After the war they ranched in Gillette and then moved to Grand Junction, Colo., until 1950 when they moved to their present ranch in Garfield County, Mont.

She enjoyed knitting, sewing, crocheting and gardening. She also enjoyed horses and was quite an equestrian. Her greatest love was her family as she was a very devoted mother and grandmother. She was a member of the American Legion.

Mrs. Fitch is survived by her children, Susan Muri of Miles City, Mont., Monte Fitch, James "Pete" Fitch and Sally Ness, all of Jordan, and Robert Fitch; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, John Fitch; an infant sister, Edna; her sister, Mabel Fowler; her stepmother, Mae Eskew; and two grandchildren.

Bertha Hopkins - 01/13/04

Funeral services for Bertha Ann (Bertic) Hopkins, 82, formerly of Gillette, will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Cheyenne with the Rev. Thomas Cronkleton officiating.

Cremation has taken place at Cheyenne Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Hopkins died at the Life Care Center in Casper on Friday, Jan. 9, 2004.

She was born March 7,1921, in Greeley, Colo., to Frank and Anna Smith. She was the ninth of 10 children in the Smith family, growing up on a farm northwest of Greeley. She attended St. Peter's Catholic School and graduated from Greeley High.

She studied nursing at Colorado Teachers' College and married her high school sweetheart, William A Hopkins, on Sept. 4, 1943, in Corpus Christie, Texas, where he was stationed in the Navy.

The Hopkinses lived in LaSalle, Colo., and Greeley before moving to Cheyenne in 1952. Mrs. Hopkins worked at Frontier Realty and was an administrative assistant for the Wyoming Catholic Register for several years. The Hopkinses owned and operated an electrical contracting company for 10 years. In 1969, they moved to Gillette, where Mrs. Hopkins worked for Wyoming Public Health.

They then moved to Buffalo in 1974, where she continued to work in public health and volunteered in the community. They returned to Cheyenne in 1980, where she was active in St. Mary's Church and performed volunteer work.

Mrs. Hopkins' home was always open. From exchange students and friends to distant relatives, they all found comfort and good food. Her prayers for others often seemed to bring great results.

She made beautiful, soft, colorful afghans for the entire family and was working on more for the newest great-grandchildren before her death. She also did needlepoint, creating some family treasures.

Mrs. Hopkins was a great hostess to family and friends for reunions, graduations, weddings and other events. She was well known for her dill pickles, cookies, brownies, cakes, pies and other treats for family friends.

In 1993, the Hopkinses celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary, renewing their vows at St. Mary's in Cheyenne and hosting a large reception for family and friends. During retirement, they traveled to Europe, Mexico and Hawaii.

Mrs. Hopkins is survived by three sons, Bill Hopkins of Hudson, Ohio, Bob Hopkins of Casper and Donn Hopkins of Fort Collins, Colo.; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a sister, Monica Messberg, of Greeley; and a brother, Wallace Smith, of Rogers, Ark.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and seven brothers and sisters.

Friends may contribute to the St. Joseph's Children's Home in Torrington.

Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel of Cheyenne is in charge of arrangements.

Mary Cash - 01/13/04

Funeral services for Mary Lou Cash, 74, the mother of a Gillette woman, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Adams Funeral Chapel in Buffalo with the Rev. Karin Stork-Wilson officiating.

Visitation will be from 1 to 10 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Willow Grove Cemetery in Buffalo with graveside services after the funeral.

Mrs. Cash died Sunday, Jan. 11, 2004, at her home in Buffalo.

She was born Feb. 4, 1929, in Buffalo to Clifford and Phoebe Searcy.

Mrs. Cash was a member of the Union Congregational Church, The Order of the Eastern Star and the VFW Auxiliary.

She is survived by one daughter, Karen Ridenour of Gillette; three brothers; four sisters; and one granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by two husbands; four brothers; and three sisters.

Donations may be made to the Shrine Crippled Children's Hospital in care of Adams Funeral Home, 351 N. Adams Ave., Buffalo, WY 82834.
