Karen L. Baker

1960-2005

Karen L. Baker, 45, of Cheyenne, passed away suddenly at home on Dec. 26.

She was born Karen Breazeale, Sept. 9, 1960, in Cheyenne, where she lived all her life.

Karen worked at Unicover Corporation for many years until meeting and marrying her husband, William S. Baker, whom she married June 12, 1992, in Cheyenne. After the birth of her daughter in 1990, she left Unicover to spend more time with her daughter. After a couple of years, she went to work at 7-11 and worked there until it changed to Kum & Go. She then worked at Sierra Trading Post for a short time, then went to Moreland Wholesale and worked there until they downsized and sold. Karen then went to work with her husband in their construction painting company, El Dorado Painting, where she was half owner of the business and president of the company. Every job she did, she wanted to be the best and worked very hard to achieve that goal.

Karen was a loving and caring wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend and partner. She liked Harley riding, camping, fishing, and just being with family and friends. She was trying to learn to ride because her dream was to ride her own Harley Davidson to Sturgis with her family and friends.

Karen was a person who would help people or animals that she didn't know. For example, on Christmas Eve, while she was driving around looking at Christmas lights with her mom and sister, she saw two dogs running loose on the South Greeley Highway. She stopped and eventually caught both dogs, found out who the owners were, and returned the dogs, making both hers and the family's Christmas better.

Karen is survived by her husband, William "Steve" Baker; her daughter, Sondra M. Baker; her parents, Donald and Beverly Breazeale, all of Cheyenne; two sisters and brothers-in law, Bob and Theresa Zumbo of Cheyenne, Steve and Patty Mizak of Colorado Springs, Colo.; one brother, Ron and Jean Breazeale of Lakewood, Colo.; her mother-in-law, Dee Wilcox of Scottsdale, Ariz.; brother and sister-in-law, Ray and Chris Baker of Scottsdale; and a sister-in-law, Sheila Keefer of Columbus, Miss.; 13 nieces and nephews and many, many good friends.

We love and miss you very much Karen, from your family, friends and pets, Sassy, Patches, Purrso, Smokey, Poncho and Maggie May.

Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel with Pastor John Selby officiating. Cremation will take place at Cheyenne Memorial Gardens.

Her life can be summed up by all that she has left behind: a job with the state of Wyoming in which she dedicated herself to keeping children safe, friends in almost every person she met, and a home with a loving family. Although Susan was a southern girl, she made her home in Wyoming.
