Charles Keith Gaddy, 55, of Marbury, and formerly of Selma, died Feb. 8, 1997 in Memphis, Tenn. Services are at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 11 at Lawrence Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Jerry Henry officiating. Burial will follow at New Live Oak cemetery with Lawrence Funeral Home directing. Survivors include his wife, Mary Gaddy, of Marbury; a daughter, Jennifer Gaddy, of Marbury; his mother and father, Walter and Bettie Joe Gaddy, of Selma; two grandsons, Chad Elrod and Tyler Miller, both of Marbury; two sisters, Jerry Lee Watson, of Gulf Breeze, Fla., and Frances Herring, of Winter Haven, Fla; and several nieces and nephews. Active pallbearers are Tom Jones, Darrell Jones, Richard Barrett, Lucky Lynch, James Lynch and Donald Reynolds. The family will receive friends at Lawrence Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 10.

Gamble, Ethel Lee
July 26, 1906 - March 05, 2000
Graveside services for Ethel Lee Gamble, 93, Jemison, will be held at Martin Memorial cemetery on Tuesday, March 7, 2000, at 11 a.m., with Rev. Fred Donovan officiating and Martin Funeral Home directing. Gamble was born on July 26, 1906, in Chilton County, the daughter of the late Benjamin Dudley and Eliza Jane Thompson. She was a homemaker. She died on March 5, 2000, at Hatley Health Care in Clanton. Survivors include two daughters, Benny J. Peters, Jemison, and Pat Ammons, Birmingham; one son John Turner Gamble, Jr., Alabaster; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Gandy, Mrs. Emma Pearl
Gandy, Mrs. Emma Pearl, age 68, died at the home, Stanton, Tuesday morning at 4:20 o'clock. Services were held at the Stanton Assembly of God church Wednesday afternoon at 2:o'clock, conducted by Rev. Sam Connell; burial in Stanton cemetery, Spigener directing. The husband, R. H. Gandy, survives, as well as three sons -- H. J. Gandy of Bessemer, Vaughn and Howard of Bessemer and Martin of Montgomery; one sister, Mrs. Etta Holmes of Birmingham. There are 12 grandchildren.

William A. Gandy, age 74, died at his Home at Billingsley last Sunday. Burial was at Billingsley. He is survived by his Wife, Mrs. Minnie L. Gandy, one Sister, Mrs. Gary of Clanton.

Gatta, Ruby 'Mickey'
February 12, 1923 - September 29, 2001
Funeral services for Ruby "Mickey" Gatta, 78 and a resident of Montgomery, will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2001 at 1 p.m. at Unity Baptist Church, with Rev. Keith Edwards officiating. Interment will follow at Marbury cemetery. Visitation will take place from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 1, 2001 at Martin Funeral Home. Born on Feb. 12, 1923 in Autauga County, she was the daughter of the late Nick Driver and the late Ethel driver. A secretary, she died at Her residence on Sept. 29, 2001. She is survived by a son, John C. Gatta of Montgomery; a daughter-in-law, Gale D. Gatta of Montgomery; two grandsons, John C. Gatta and Anthony Gatta, both of Montgomery; a brother Ronald Driver of New Orleans; a sister, Betty Herrin of Greenville, S. C.; two great-grandsons; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Michael Gatta. In lieu of Flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Montgomery Baptist Hospice or the Forest Park Ministry Center.

Funeral services for Annie Odessa Gay, 89, Maplesville, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2001, at Ebenezer Baptist Church with Rev. Danny Rasberry officiating. Burial will follow at Plantersville Christian Cemetery, with Lawrence Brown Service Funeral Home in Selma directing. Active pallbearers include Marty Reynolds, Larry Carter, Bobby Chambers, and Benny Clay Smitherman. The family will receive friends at Lawrence Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept 11, 2001. Gay died on Sunday, Sept. 9, 2001, at a local hospital. Survivors include one son, Donald (Faye) Gay; three daughters, Earline Gay (Billy) Gay, Laura Gay (Earl) Griffin, and Peggy Gay Sherriff; two sisters, Louise Mount and Tessa Milstead; eight grandchildren; 17 great-great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, "Preacher" Gay' her son, Phillip Gay; and her grandson, Gary Gregg. The family will welcome flowers or as an alternative the family suggests memorials to Plantersville Christian Cemetery.

Burial was in Martin Memorial cemetery in Clanton with Martin Funeral Home directing. Mrs. Gay was born Jan 24, 1921 in Alabama to the late Ben F. and Rena Griffin. She worked as an office manager. She died Aug. 29, 1998 at her residence in Clanton. She is survived by her husband, C.C. Gay, Jr. of Clanton; a daughter, Annette Gay Mullinax of Clanton; four sisters; Ruby G. Nichols of Marion, Jessie G. Stone of Montevallo, Annie Ruth G. McReynolds of Bessemer and Margie G. Hatcher of Montevallo; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Dorris C. Gay Graveside services for Dorris Gay, 87, of Alabaster, were held Dec. 20 at Ebenezer Baptist cemetery in Stanton, Ala. Mrs. Gay, a former clerk at F. W. Woolworth, died at Alabaster Healthcare Center Dec. 19. Survivors include her son Thomas Gay of Birmingham; brothers, Leighton Houston of Stanton, Eulin Houston of Plantersville and Herman Houston of Selma and a sister, Hazel Atchison of Selma.

Funeral services for Doyle Ruben Gay, 88, Jemison, will be held at Martin Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, Oct. 18, 2001, at 1 p.m., with Rev. Charles Payne officiating. Burial will follow at Midway cemetery in Jemison, with Martin Funeral Home directing. Gay was born on June 9, 1913, in Chilton County, the son of the late John Gay and the late Amanda Gay. He was a rail car builder. He died on Oct. 16, 2001, at Hatley Health Care in Clanton. Survivors include one wife, Nannie Lou Gay, Jemison; one daughter, Shirley (Joe) Price, Clanton; one grandson, Wesley (Cindy) Gibbs, Decatur; one granddaughter, Whitney Gibbs, Decatur; and two sisters, Linnie Killingsworth, Montevallo, and Mae McGraw, Elmore. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Delene Gibbs.

Funeral services for Maudie Bell Gay, 83, of Clanton were Feb. 1, 1998, at Martin Chapel with Rev. Dough Powell officiating. Burial was in Rehobeth Baptist cemetery in Lawley with Martin Funeral Home directing. Mrs. Gay was born July 5, 1914, in Shelby County to the late Joseph Jackson and Beuna Vista Honeycutt. She worked as a dietician. She died Jan. 30, 1998, at South Haven Nursing Home in Birmingham. She is survived by five sons and daughters-in-law: John B. and Joyce Gay of Clanton, Jimmy A. and Lucretia Gay of Birmingham, Thomas J. and Judy Gay of Prattville, Steve H. And Sue Gay of Clanton, and William H. and Karen Gay of Montgomery; two daughters and a son-in-law, Bobbie Gorman of Nashville, Tenn., and Anita and Martin Muller of Birmingham; a brother, Jessie Honeycutt of Birmingham; three sisters: Alta Christmas of Donaldsonville, Ga., Era McDaniel of Birmingham and Dorothy Desmond of Birmingham; 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Lewis Henry Gentry, age70, died Tuesday night at his home at Mountain Creek. Burial was at Verbena Cemetery. He was a prominent Farmer who lived at Mountain Creek all of his life. He is survived by his Wife, Mrs. Emma Wright Gentry, five Daughters, Mrs. Lillian Womble of Birmingham, Mrs. Inez Womble of Prattville, Miss Ethel Gentry of Troy, Miss Arrie Gentry of Mountain Creek, and Miss Alma Gentry of Clanton.

Gerald, Miriam
December 12, 1913 - April 23, 2003
Miriam Bowers Gerald, 89, died on Wednesday, April 23, in a Montgomery nursing home. While a resident of Montgomery for the past seven years, Mrs. Gerald was a long-time resident of Clanton. She was a graduate of the University of Alabama and of the Peabody Library School. She taught and served as a librarian at Chilton County High School. She later worked at the Alabama Public Library Service in Montgomery. Mrs. Gerald was an active member of First Baptist Church of Clanton for over 50 years as well as an active member of Delta Kappa Gamma and a charter member of the Woman's Study Club. Mrs. Gerald was preceded in death by her husband Lawrence F. Gerald, Jr. (Bud), father Arthur Hammond Bowers, mother Alice Grant Bowers and brothers Charles and Howell Bowers. Survivors include her brother and sister-in-law Judge Robert L. Bowers and Emma Frank Bowers; daughter and son-in-law Alice and James O. Stephens of Montgomery; daughter and son-in-law Miriam and Eliseo Martinez of San Antonio, Texas; grandchildren Katherine Stephens of Huntsville, Eric Stephens of Montgomery and David and Christopher Martinez of San Antonio, Texas; numerous nieces and nephews. Services were held at Martin Funeral Home Chapel in Clanton at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 26. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be sent to: The Baptist Children's Home; John Knox Manor at 1101 Narrow Lane Road, Montgomery, AL 36116 or The Chilton County Public Library, 100 First Avenue, Clanton, AL 35045.

Springs Methodist cemetery in Clanton with Marti Funeral Home directing. Mr. Giles was born Oct. 7, 1909, in Chilton County to the late Jim and Nola Giles. He worked as a truck driver. He died Dec. 2, 1998, at Wetumpka Nursing Home. He is survived by two daughters: Pauline Billingsley and Evelyn Green, both of Clanton; a son, Lamar Giles of Clanton; a brother Thilo Giles of Verbena; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Giles of Greenville, SC; a daughter, Deborah Sanders of Clanton; two sons, Timothy Giles of Panama City, FL and Reginald Giles of Rock Hill, SC; two sisters, Louise Mahan of Clanton and Betty Klinner of Jemison; a brother, William R. Giles of Verbena and five grandchildren.

Burial is in Martin Memorial cemetery in Clanton with Martin Funeral Home directing. Mr. Giles was born Feb. 18, 1912, in Alabama to the late Martin and Susie Giles. He worked as a plant protection guard. He died July 28, 1998 at Camellia Lane Nursing Home in Prattville. He is survived by his wife, Anne Mae Giles of Clanton; his daughter, Janice G. Patterson of Clanton; three sons: Walter Wayne Giles, Donald R. Giles and Douglas Ray Giles, all of Clanton; a sister, Maggie Easterling of Clanton; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Jessie Bearden Gillespie, 71 of Maplesville, died at hospital Tuesday, April 25th. Services were held at Maplesville Methodist Church Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Mitchell Zirlott; Martin in charge of funeral arrangements. Pallbearers were: Billy Dennis, Lonnie Evans, C.M. Foshee, Jr., Edward Fuqua, Jack Hampton, and Van. B. Potts. Three Daughters survive: Mrs. Kathryn W. Goff of Maplesville, Mrs. Colleen Whisenant of Birmingham, and Mrs. Margaret Lovingood of Detroit, Michigan; son: Thomas R. Williams, Jr., of Kansas City, Mo.; three sisters: Mrs. Evie Cochran and Mrs. Mae Cox, of Maplesville, and Mrs. Eunice Fussell of Prichard; two grandchildren and six step grandchildren. A native of Chilton County, she was a daughter of Henry Clay Bearden and Paralee Smitherman Bearden. Her husband was the late George Gillespie.

Gilliland, Mrs. Bessie Hilyer, 66, died at a Prattville hospital Sunday. Survivors include 3 sons -- J. E., A. C., and W. F. Gilliland, all of Billingsley; a brother, Frank Hilyer of Alexander City; five sisters, Mrs. Minnie Wilson, Autaugaville, Mrs. Herman Brown, Deatsville, Mrs. Leonard Luster, Montgomery; Mrs. Stanley Wilson, Prattville, Mrs. M. D. Moore, Los Angeles, Ca. Funeral services were held Sunday at 2 p.m. from the Billingsley Baptist Church; Burial followed in Billingsley cemetery. Griffin Funeral home of Prattville in charge.
