Vernon O. Bishop, Jr.

Vernon O. Bishop, Jr., age 61, a resident of Springfield, MO, died Tuesday, February 5, 2008 in Springfield.

He was born July 23, 1946 in Houston, TX to Vernon and Ruth Taylor Bishop. He served in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam.

He is survived by two sons, Paul Bishop of Houston, TX and Todd Bishop of Springfield, MO; two sisters, Ruth E. Pogue of Horatio, AR and Lorene Coleman of Magnolia, TX; one brother, Billy J. Bishop of Horatio; two grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Graveside funeral services for Mr. Bishop will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 9, 2008 in the Millwee Cemetery under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.

Mr. Philip Wesley Cox

Philip Wesley Cox, age 66, a resident of De Queen, AR died Tuesday, February 5, 2008 in Wadley Regional Medical Center.

He was born April 14, 1941 in De Queen to Ed Lee and Beulah Graves Cox. He was a former mayor of De Queen for 10 years, president of the Tri-Lakes Water board, founder and board member of the Upper Southwest Regional Landfill, former owner of Cox Furniture, former employee of the F.H.A., member of Chapel Hill Baptist Church, and an avid fisherman and gardener.

He is survived by his wife, Imagean Davis Cox of De Queen; a son, John David Cox of Little Rock, AR; a sister, Belinda and husband Bill Martin of Punta Gorda, FL; mother in law, Vivian Davis of De Queen, two brothers-in-law & sisters-in law: Levi & Linda Davis of Monticello and Novadean & Larry Shelton of De Queen; nieces and nephews: Alison Vallejo of Tampa, FL, James Revels and Charles Revels, both of De Queen, Mia Revels of Tahlequah, OK, Susan Phillips of Memphis, TN, Ward Davis of Nashville, TN, and his dog, Jack.

Funeral Services for Mr. Cox will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 8, 2008 in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Chapel Hill Cemetery under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 7, 2008 from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Dexter Monroe Ferry

Mr. Dexter Monroe Ferry, Sr., age 87, a resident of De Queen, AR died Monday, February 4, 2008 in the De Queen Medical Center.

He was born September 24, 1920 in Syracuse, New York to Louis Lorenzo and Mary Ellen McClung Ferry. He was an electronics technician for the U.S. Government, and served in the Army during WWII, where he served in the Alucian Islands.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ellen Ferry.

He is survived by two daughters, Laura Scott and her husband, Bob of De Queen and Henrietta Provost of Houston, AL; one son, Dexter Monroe Ferry II of De Queen; and fourteen grandchildren.

Mr. Joel Don “Pinball” Killian

Mr. Joel Don “Pinball” Killian, age 66, a resident of Cerro Gordo, Arkansas, died Friday, February 1, 2008 in De Queen.

He was born August 19, 1941 in Dierks, Arkansas to Ab and Snow White Killian. He was a United States contract mail carrier. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and his grandchildren.

Mr. Killian was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Jerry A. Killian; one sister, Jan Dossett.

He is survived by his wife, Rita Killian of Cerro Gordo, Arkansas; his children, Sheila Milliken of Texas City, Texas; Janna Winstead of La Marque, Texas; April McGaha of Goodwater, Oklahoma; Zachary Pierce of Cerro Gordo, Arkansas; Candace Vandiver of Goodwater, Oklahoma; six granddaughters, two grandsons, two great grandsons, one sister-in-law, Jean Killian and one brother-in-law, Madison Dossett.

Funeral Services for Mr. Killian will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, February, 4 2008 in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Leon Klitz officiating. Burial will follow in Pauley Cemetery near Winthrop, Arkansas.

Mrs. Lillie Jo Williams Edmiaston

Mrs. Lillie Jo Williams Edmiaston, age 74, a resident of Horatio, died Saturday, February 2, 2008 in De Queen.

She was born December 19, 1933 in Ashdown, AR to Luther Williams and Lillie Lee Jewell. She was a homemaker and a member of the Williamson Community Church.

Mrs. Edmiaston was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wesley E. Edmiaston and five sisters.

She is survived by her son, Joe Edmiaston of Horatio, Arkansas; one brother, Charlie Edward Williams of Ashdown, Arkansas; one sister, Ruby Lee Rosenbaum of Ashdown, Arkansas; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Edmiaston will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, February, 5, 2008 in the Williamson Community Church with Rev. Jimmy Roden officiating. Burial will follow in the Clear Creek Cemetery under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Monday, February 4th at the funeral home.

Mr. Joe Allen Polite

Mr. Joe Allen Polite, age 61, a resident of Lockesburg, Arkansas, died Friday, February 1, 2008 in the Christus St. Michael Hospital.

He was born to L. C. and May Lee Dedner Polite at De Queen, Arkansas, on December 7, 1946. He was a member of the New Zion Baptist Church of Lockesburg, and was a logger. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Telsa Polite, and a brother, L. Curtis Polite.

He is survived by his wife, Tiffany Finley of Texarkana, Tex. two sons, Allen DeWayne and his wife, Robbie Polite of Ashdown, Thomas Christopher Polite of Lockesburg, two step-daughters, Jasma Finley and Sweetie Finley both of Texarkana, Tex,; one brother, Lee Vell Polite of Lockesburg, one sister, Elenor Johnson of Wilton, Ark.; eleven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren, as well as a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mr. Joe Polite will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 9th in the New Zion Baptist Church in Lockesburg with Rev. Roy Bailey and Rev. Rondy Briggs officiating. Burial will follow in the McElroy Cemetery under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen. Viewing will begin Friday, February 8, 2008 at 8:00 a.m., and the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday evening.

Mr. Richard W. Hammer

Mr. Richard W. Hammer, age 67, of Wickes, passed away Thursday, January 31, 2008 at his home.

He was born February 22, 1940 in McAlister, Oklahoma to the late Prior (Doc) Dolphes Hammer and the late Mabel Elizabeth Yowell Hammer. He was united in marriage to Ms. Harvey Lee Crabtree. Mr. Hammer was a mechanic by profession in the cattle feed industry and was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend. He will be missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers and 2 sisters.

He is survived by his wife, Harvey Hammer of Wickes, AR; 2 sons: Butcher Hammer of Wickes and Pete Hammer and wife Carolann of Gillham, AR; 2 daughters: Mary Snow and husband Mike of Blaine, Washington and Linda Standridge and husband David of Wickes, Arkansas; 4 sisters: Frances George, Dorothy Dearick, Charlotte McDaniel and Mary Dunigan; 17 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

Graveside funeral services for Mr. Richard W. Hammer will be held Monday, February 4, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at Witherspoon Cemetery with Bro. Donnie Jewell officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Beasley-Wood Funeral Home.

Visitation will be general.

CPT Donald Lee Brakeville

CPT Donald Lee Brakeville 40, died Saturaday, March 22,2008. He was born on August 24,1967 in Little Rock AFB, Arkansas. He was a former resident of Benton, LA and a graduate of Benton High School and LA Tech University.

He is survived by his wife, Janie Brakeville, daughters Taylor and Holly Sutton, his parents Sally and Charles Brakeville, two brothers Charles Wayne Brakeville and wife Cissy, Clayton Brakeville and wife Angela and nieces, Beth, Maggie, Shelby Ann and Caroline Brakeville.

CPT Brakeville served in the US Army on active duty for 8 years, the Louisiana Army National Guard for 3 years, and most recently the Washington Army National Guard where he served for the past 5 years. A highly decorated soldier and a recipient of the Purple Heart, he will be remembered for his unwavering loyalty and dedication to duty. He served in Desert Shield, Desert Storm, Operation Joint Endeavor in Bosnia and Operation Iraqi Freedom II. His lasting memory will be cherished by many close friends and family.

Visitation will take place at the Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Bossier City, LA on the evening of April 3, 2008 from 5p.m. antil 8 p.m. Funeral Services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday April 4, 2008 at Rose-Neath's Bossier Chapel. Interment will be at Rocky Mount Cemetery in Benton, LA with U.S. Army Honors.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Donald Brakeville Memorial Scholarship Fund foe a Benton High School Student at First National Bank of Benton, P. O. Box 280, Benton, LA 71006.

Beulah V. Reville Crawford

Mrs. Beulah V. Reville Crawford, 89, of Heavener, Oklahoma died Monday, March 31, 2008 in Heavner.

She was a member of the Hontubby Baptist church. Bea worked in the Defense Plant in Tulsa during WWII and at the Will Rogers Motor Court. She also worked as a Provider in this area after her retirement in Tulsa. After the death of her husband Bob, Bea enjoyed spending her time camping with her daughter, Rusty. She was preceded in death by two sisters, three brothers and two husbands: Herman Reville and Robert L. Crawford.

She is survived by one daughter: LaFayne "Rusty" Meeh of Heavner, Oklahoma, 2 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mrs. Beulah Crawford will be at 2 pm Wednesday, April 2, 2008 in the Dowden Funeral Home Chapel in Heavner, Oklahoma. Graveside services will be held at Redmen Cemetery in De Queen at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, April 3, 2008 under the direction of Dowden Funeral Home of Heavner, OK.

Mary Frances Hail

Mary Frances Hail, 90, formerly of Broken bow, went home to rest in peace on Saturday, March 29, 2008. She was born September 10, 1917 in Broken Bow, Oklahoma, the daughter of Matt and Lula Bell (Holeman) Oakley.

Mary was a very loving mother and grandmother and she cherished the time spent with her family. she enjoyed reading and writing poetry, playing board games, listening to and singing gospel music, watching game shows on TV, and visiting with her friends at the Senior Citizens Center. Mary was dearly loved by her family and friends and will be greatly missed.

she was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters: Faye Perkins and Ethel Lackey; and one brother, Clermon Oakley.

She leaves to cherish her memory her four children: Joyce Chapman, Sara Young, Jerry Hail, and Rose Winer; two grandchildren: Jason chandler and Sherry Hail; four great-grandchildren, three great=great-grandchildren; two special nephews: Gene Privett and John Privett; a special niece: Charlene Higgins and husband O.H.; and many friends.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 1, 2008 at the Broken Bow Cemetery with Bro. Donnie Davis officiating.

The family will receive friends Monday, March 31, 2008 from 7:00-8:00 p.m. at Brumley Funeral Home in Broken Bow.
