Boyd

PARAGOULD -- Gerald Wayne Boyd, 69, of Paragould died Monday, Oct. 11, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center.

Born at Beech Grove, he was a farmer and a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Beech Grove.

Survivors include his wife, Patsy Young Boyd of Beech Grove; two sons, Robin Dale Boyd and Alfred Wayne Boyd, both of Beech Grove; one daughter, Susan Carol Boyd of Beech Grove; one sister, Peggy Maag of Paragould; a brother, Bland Boyd of Paragould; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Olen W. and Reba Butler Boyd, and one brother.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday at Heath Funeral Home, with the Rev. Tony Ryles officiating. Burial will follow in Greene County Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the building fund of Cornerstone Southern Baptist Church, in care of J.W. Hicks, 7036 Arkansas 34 West, Paragould 72450.

Griffin

LAKE CITY -- Joe Griffin, 77, of Lake City died Tuesday, Oct. 12, at St. Bernard's Medical Center.

Born at Lake City, he lived at Jonesboro before moving back to Lake City five years ago. He was retired from General Electric in Jonesboro and was a member of First United Methodist Church at Lake City.

He was an Army veteran of World War II and the Korean War and was a member of the American Legion. He also was a 32nd degree Mason.

Survivors include one son, Joe D. Griffin of Jonesboro, and two granddaughters, Katie Griffin and Kristie Griffin Becker.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Billie Joe Griffin, and his parents, Earl and Ethel Stone Griffin.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church at Lake City, with the Rev. Bruce Higgins officiating. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery at Jonesboro under the direction of Emerson Funeral Home of Lake City.

Active pallbearers will include Paul McAnally, Rohn Craft, Wayne Carlisle, Mike Gray, Rick Rorex and Bill West.

Honorary pallbearers will include members of the adult Sunday school class at Lake City United Methodist Church.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. today at Emerson Funeral Home in Lake City.

Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, 600 Buffalo, Lake City 72437.

Hart

CARAWAY -- Funeral services for Effie Hart, 91, of Bay, who died Monday, Oct. 11, at her home, have been scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday at First General Baptist Church in Trumann.

The Revs. Bobby Carter, Darrell Miller and Leonard Harp will officiate, and burial will follow in Upper Cane Island Cemetery near Lake City. Langford-Bookout Funeral Home of Jonesboro is in charge of arrangements.

Active pallbearers will be Wendell Owens, Tim Owens, Mike Hart, Kenneth Owens, Eddie Baker and Scott Hart.

Phyllis Murphy and James Baker will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Survivors in addition to those already listed include eight grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Hellinghausen

CARAWAY -- Graveside services for Gregory Hellinghausen, 44, of Caraway, who died Monday, Oct. 11, at St. Bernard's Medical Center, will be at 10 a.m. today in Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery.

The Rev. Waymon Holt will officiate, and Gregg Funeral Home of Jonesboro is in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers will include Bill Hellinghausen, Doug Hellinghausen, Paul Hellinghausen Jr., Greg Nuckles, Mike Pavel and Austen Hellinghausen.

Born in Shreveport, La., he had lived in Caraway for the last 10 years. He worked as a sales representative for Grainger Co. and was a member of Milligan Ridge Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Keli Hellinghausen of the home; his parents, Paul and Frances Hellinghausen of Horseshoe Bay, Texas; a sister, Dawn Pavel of Plano, Texas; and three brothers, Bill Hellinghausen and Doug Hellinghausen, both of Houston, Texas, and Paul Hellinghausen Jr. of Allen, Texas.

Memorials may be made to Milligan Ridge Baptist Church, 751 North County Road 49, Manila 72442.

A. Johnson

BIRDSONG -- Atlonia Johnson, 67, of Birdsong died Thursday, Oct. 7, at NEA Medical Center.

Born at Twist, she had worked as a cook for the Osceola School District and was a member of Gilfield Missionary Baptist Church in Birdsong.

Survivors include two daughters, Floral Lee Jenkins of Sikeston, Mo., and Sadie Andrews of Jackson, Tenn.; a brother, Johnny Lee Jenkins of Blytheville; seven grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday at Gilfield Missionary Baptist Church in Birdsong, with the Rev. Roosevelt Brasswell officiating. Burial will follow in Paradise Gardens at Edmondson under the direction of Wilson Funeral Home of Tyronza.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

N. Johnson

PARAGOULD -- Naomi McDaniel Johnson, 94, of Paragould died Tuesday, Oct. 12, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center.

Born in the Wood's Chapel community in Greene County, she was a homemaker, a member of First United Methodist Church and a member of the Glenna Rose Circle.

She also was a past member of the American Legion Auxiliary, the Order of the Eastern Star and the Greene County Democratic Women's Club.

She had no immediate survivors.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carmel H. Johnson; her parents, James A. and Alice Gramling McDaniel; four brothers; and six sisters.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday at Mitchell Funeral Home chapel, with Zach Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in Wood's Chapel Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6:30-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Means

Margaret Lillian Means, 87, of Jonesboro died Saturday, Oct. 9, at St. Bernard's Medical Center.

Born in Parsons, Kan., she was a longtime resident of Jacksonville, where she worked for Fern's Style Shop for more than 30 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Winsome Sunday school class.

Survivors include a daughter, Billye Regina Payne of Marked Tree; a son, Robert Eugene Busch of Hollywood, Fla.; and one grandson, Justin Matthew Payne of Broken Arrow, Okla.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Moss Means, her parents and one sister.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Home, with Dr. Marc Gibson officiating. Burial will follow in Edgewood Memorial Park in North Little Rock.

Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Reid

LEPANTO -- Dora Reid, 72, of Lepanto died Monday, Oct. 11, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Osceola.

She was a member of Lake Michigan Beach Community Church in Hagar Shores, Mich., and attended Marked Tree Church of God.

Survivors include four sons, Charles Edward Reed of Coloma, Mich., Ricky L. Reid of Largo, Fla., Jimmy Dwayne Reid of Holland, Mich., and Ronald Joe Reid of Benton Harbor, Mich.; a daughter, Laura Ann Mitchell of Marked Tree; a sister, Dorothy Hixon of Lepanto; 16 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Reid.

Graveside services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday in Nichols Cemetery at Marked Tree, with Patrick Tucker officiating. Murphy Funeral Home of Lepanto is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
