Kathleen Wingfield, 82, of Magazine died Sunday, March 2, 2003, in Magazine. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Magazine and a loving wife of 65 years.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. today at First Baptist Church in Magazine with burial at Ellington cemetery in Magazine under the direction of Roller Funeral Home of Booneville.
She is survived by her husband, V.J. Wingfield of Magazine; four sister-in-laws, Dorothy Goodson of Booneville, Leota Wingfield of Stilwell, Okla., Marie Wingfield of Fort Smith and Ola Rea Mikles of Booneville; a brother, Oland H. Baucum Jr. and wife, Agnus of Kingston, Texas; a brother-in-law, Lawrence Berry of Fort Smith; numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Gene Cameron, Jimmy Dale Gibson, R.H. Johnson, Don Loyd, Bruce Staton and Paul Yarborough.

Betty J. Goins
Betty J. Goins, 72, of Fort Smith died Monday, March 3, 2003, in Fort Smith. She was a homemaker, a member of Eastern Star and was a Baptist.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Fentress Mortuary Chapel in Fort Smith with burial at U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith.
She is survived by her husband, Alvin Goins of the home; four daughters, Scottie Williams of Hackett, Raylene Hillhouse of Colorado Springs, Colo., Dolores Shaw of Van Buren and Pat Carruth of Fort Smith; four sons, Thomas Goins of Fort Smith, Larry Goins and Howard Sines, both of Alma, and Dale R. Sines II of Killeen, Texas; three sisters, Helen Stafford of Little Rock, Doris Morgan of Jacksonville and Roxie Boyette of Perryville; 17 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Boyd Williams II, Dale Sines III, David Shaw, Lee Steele, David Goins, Randall, Jesse and Brian Morgan.
Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Dennis Dooly and John David Boyette.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Sandy Ballard
STIGLER — Sandy Ballard, 51, of Stigler died Monday, May 12, 2003, in Stigler. She was a homemaker and a caregiver.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. today at First Baptist Church in Stigler with burial at Keota City cemetery under the direction of Mallory Funeral Home of Stigler.
She is survived by her husband, Donnie; two sons, Jeff and Justin Ballard, both of Stigler; a sister, Sherlene Martin of Eufaula, Okla.; six brothers, Gary Suttles of Stigler, Mike, Jimmy and Joe Suttles, all of Oklahoma City, Raymond Suttles of Russellville, Ky., and Jerrell Suttles of Siloam Springs.
Pallbearers will be Bill Nelson, Jimmy Winklepleck, Charlie Davis, Brandon Amos, Dustin Ballard and Buster Stout.

Marcella McCafferty
MCCURTAIN — Marcella McCafferty, 83, of McCurtain died Sunday, May 11, 2003, in Fort Smith. She taught school in McCurtain and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. today at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Stigler under the direction of Mallory Funeral Home of Stigler. The body was sent to Ray Fransisco Crematory in Tulsa.
She is survived by five daughters, Lynelle Sensabaugh of Gallup, N.M., Mary Bratton, Therese Nolen and Veronica Hart, all of Stigler, and Caroline Smith of Bartlesville, Okla.; two sons, Michael and Lynn McCafferty, both of McCurtain; 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Leonard Atwell
FRESNO, Calif. — Leonard Atwell, 93, of Fresno, Calif. died Thursday, April 17, 2003. He was born July 5, 1909, in Van Buren. He was a hardware salesman for 30 years and the widower of Ethel Atwell.
Funeral was held April 22, 2003, at Clovis First Assembly of God under the direction of Boice Funeral Home of Clovis, Calif.
He is survived by two daughters, Willa Fritchey of Arkansas and Linda Ordway of Clovis, Calif.; a son, Ralph Atwell of Caruthers, Calif.; two sisters, Trella Hatton of Arkansas and Plummy Burris of Palo Alto, Calif.; a brother, Pearcy Atwell of Arkansas; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to Leonard Atwell Memorial Trust, c/o Clovis First Assembly of God, 1185 Sunnyside, Clovis, CA 93611.

Carole Marvel
ALMA — Carole Marvel, 56, of Alma died Sunday, May 11, 2003, in Russellville. She was the manager of Outdoor Living R.V. Park in Russellville.
Graveside service will be at 1 p.m. today at Gill cemetery in Van Buren under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.
She is survived by her husband, J.R.; a daughter, Samantha Marvel of Mount Vernon, Ill.; a son, Brad Cozadd of Salem, Ill.; a stepdaughter, Crystal Bieler of Magazine; her mother, Dorothy Haught of Alma; a sister, Sandy Hallett of Kinmundy, Ill.; a brother, Ron Haught of Alma.

Joe Mathies
POTEAU — Joe Paul Mathies, 84, of Poteau died Tuesday, May 13, 2003, in Poteau. He was born May 31, 1918, in Wister. He graduated from Poteau High School in 1937, worked for the Kansas City Southern Railroad, was a Navy veteran, graduated from Dallas Institute of Mortuary Sciences and worked for Miller Funeral Home for several years, worked for the U. S. Postal Service for 23 years and served 15 years in the Naval Reserve.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church in Poteau with burial at Oakland cemetery in Poteau under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau.
He is survived by his wife, Trudie; a daughter, Nancy Fetzer of Meeker, Okla.; a son Robert Thompson of Huntington; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Don Hargrove, James Lynch, Bob Cauthron, Ronnie Cofer, Jim DeCamp and Paul Stottsberry.

Volcie Carter
PENN VALLEY, Calif. — Volcie Lucille Hill Carter, 73, of Penn Valley, Calif. died Saturday, May 3, 2003, in her home. She was born Dec. 31, 1929.
Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Northside Christian Church in Poteau. Information submitted by Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau.
She is survived by her husband, William; two daughters, Frances McDonald of Bloomer and Renee Minners of Holister, Calif.; two sons, Rudy Bledsoe of Santa Barbara, Calif., and Alex Lyles of the home; a brother, the Rev. James Hill of Poteau; and several grandchildren.

Edna Rountree
WALDRON — Edna Faye Rountree, 85, of Waldron, formerly of Mena, died Wednesday, May 14, 2003, in Waldron. She was born Sept. 17, 1917, in Little Rock. She was a real estate agent and of the Methodist faith. She was the widow of Max Rountree.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Beasley-Wood Funeral Home Chapel in Mena with burial at Gann cemetery in Potter.
She is survived by a son, Max Rountree of Edmond, Okla.; a sister, Jean Hasty of Australia; a brother, Jim Willyerd of Houston; one grandchild and two great-grandchildren.

Rev. Jackie McGowen
EL DORADO — The Rev. Jackie Ray McGowen, 59, of El Dorado died Wednesday, May 14, 2003, in his home. He was born Jan. 30, 1944, in Huttig. He was a retired minister and retired from Con Agra after 20 years of service, owner of McGowen Wholesale and a member of Mount Union Baptist Church. He was the widower of Sandra McGowen.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Pilgrim’s Rest Baptist Church with burial at Pilgrim’s Rest cemetery in Spearsville, La., under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors of El Dorado.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; three daughters, Rhonda Thurmon of Junction City, Stacey Green of Smackover and Lisa McGowen of El Dorado; two sons, SFC Jackie McGowen Jr. of Fort Polk, La., and Nathan McGowen of El Dorado.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
The family will be at 3051 S. Jackson in El Dorado.

Tressie Buras
MENA — Tressie Laverne Buras, 64, of Mena died Monday, May 12, 2003. She was born Oct. 15, 1938, in McCaulley, Texas. She was a boiler farmer for Tyson, a member of Pine Ridge Union Church and was a Lioness.
Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Ouachita cemetery under the direction of Hall Funeral Service of Mena.
She is survived by her husband, Weldon; two daughters, Shetresa Saurage of Sour Lake, Texas, and Darla Stuart of Mena; a sister, Sandy Adams of Caplan, La.; a brother, Foy Taylor of San Angelo, Texas; two grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Memorial contributions may be made to Tressie Buras Memorial Fund at Arkansas Diamond Bank.

Lera Goodin
CLARKSVILLE — Lera Morrow Goodin, 94, of Clarksville died Wednesday, May 14, 2003, in Clarksville. She was born March 14, 1909, in Hartman. She was a charter member of Hartman Methodist Church, a Sunday school teacher, a cook at Hartman School Cafeteria for several years, a member of Hartman Home Extension Club and the widow of Joe Goodin.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Hartman Baptist Church with burial at Hartman cemetery under the direction of Hardwicke Funeral Home of Clarksville.
She is survived by a daughter, Lora Morris of Clarksville; a sister, Alma Morris of Hartman; eight grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 23 great-great-grandchildren.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Phyllis Falleur
Phyllis Ann Falleur, 60, of Fort Smith died Tuesday, May 13, 2003, in a local hospital. She was a homemaker.
Memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Putman Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Smith. The body will be cremated.
She is survived by her husband, Frank; two daughters, Stacey Catsavis and Susan Carnett, both of Fort Smith; two sons, Mike Falleur of Dalton, Ga., and Phillip Falleur of Fort Smith; a sister, Kim Amon of Fort Smith; a brother, Edward Walker of Fort Smith; and five grandchildren.

Andrew Rogers
Andrew Rogers, infant son of Sarah Miller and Earl Rogers of Fort Smith, died Thursday, May 8, 2003, in a local hospital.
Burial of cremains will be at Seabolt cemetery in Muldrow. Arrangements are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by a sister, Haley Rogers of the home; maternal grandparents, Troy Miller of Fort Smith and Chris Miller of Muldrow; paternal grandparents, Cliff and Kathy Rogers of Muldrow; maternal great-grandparents, Bill and Roseline Waters of Muldrow and Chester and Wilma Miller of Fort Smith; great-great-grandparents, George and Emma Waters of Muldrow.

Dorothea Collins
HUNT — Dorothea Collins, 77, of Hunt died Tuesday, May 13, 2003, in Hunt. She was a member of Goddard United Methodist Church, president of the Harvesters Sunday school class and a retired computer operator for Hardscrabble Country Club.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Goddard United Methodist Church chapel with burial at Forest Park cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Fentress Mortuary of Fort Smith.
She is survived by her husband, J.R.; a daughter, Cindy Pharr of Lincoln; and one grandchild.

Catherine Marie Tucker
Catherine Marie Tucker, 61, of Fort Smith died Tuesday, May 13, 2003, in her home. She was born Aug. 3, 1941, in Delaware County, Okla., the daughter of Henry and Eunice Jones Johnson. She was a homemaker.
No services are scheduled. Cremation was under the direction of Moore’s Chapel of Fayetteville.
She is survived by her husband, Norben Tucker; a daughter and son-in-law, Anita and Jeff Sullivan of Lowell; two sisters, Ruby Johnson and Linda Judd, both of Fayetteville; three brothers, Forrest and Frank Norris, both of Fayetteville, and Henry Johnson of Alma; two granddaughters, Kaye-Loni Sullivan and Tara Sullivan, both of Lowell.

Lois Luela Wilson
Lois Luela Wilson, 70, of Paris died Monday, May 12, 2003, in a Paris nursing home. She was formerly of Van Buren where she had been a resident most of her life. She was a former employee of Allen Canning Company and was the widow of Gerald Wilson.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at Ocker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Gill cemetery in Van Buren.
She is survived by three daughters, Debbie Findlay and Brenda Swopes, both of Fort Smith, and Stephanie Black of Booneville; two sons, Charles Swopes of Texarkana and Ken Swopes of Green Bay, Wis.; a sister, Jean Stem of Lavaca; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Brandon and Andrew Findlay, Steve Black, Loyd and Gary Stem and Michael Fogo.
