James Edward Ward
James Edward Ward, 51, of Carlisle was born October 4, 1957. He went to be with the Lord on July 27, 2009.
He is preceded in death by his father, Edgar Ward Jr. Survivors include his mother Evelyn Ward, daughter Anne Manry, siblings Ronnie (Sarah) Ward, Connie (Keith) Beaty, grandchildren, Caleb, Shane and Braylon, nephews Barrett Ward, Bradley (Jennifer) Ward, and Joey Beaty, niece Crystal Strain, and great-nephew, Maddox Ward.
He served his country for four years in the U.S. Coast Guard. James was a kind man with a big heart. He brought a smile to everyone he met. He had an amazing sense of humor and lived to make people laugh. His smile was forever and his laugh unforgettable. He loved his grandsons more than anything in this world. They called him Pop. He gave his selfless life with grandson Tyron in a swimming accident. He will be deeply missed and never forgotten.
Funeral Services were held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 30, at Boyd Funeral Home, Lonoke.

J. D. Whittenburg
J.D. Whittenburg, age 79, died July 30, 2009. He is survived by his wife, Madie Smith Whittenburg; sons, Jerry (Vickie) Whittenburg of El Paso and Donnie (Shirley) Whittenburg of Carlisle; stepchildren, Jerry Ballard of Castle Rock, Colo., and Teresa Stewart of Olive Branch, Miss.; a sister, Roberta Jefferson of North Little Rock; 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death are his sons, Randall Joe Whittenburg and Troy Ballard; his first wife, Betty Gibbons Whittenburg; and six siblings.
Funeral Services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 1 at New Testament Missionary Baptist Church with interment in Hebron cemetery. Arrangements are by Boyd Funeral Home, Lonoke.

Flora L. Miller
Flora L. Miller, 63, of Jonesboro, died Friday at St. Bernard’s Medical Center.
She is survived by her husband, George “Hoot” Miller; her children, Amanda Owens, Clarendon, Jay Miller, Jonesboro, Melanie and Sammy Speaks, DeValls Bluff, Aaron Miller, Clarendon; sister, Ann Powell, Conway; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services was held at the First Assembly of God Church in Clarendon on Monday at 2 p.m. Burial followed at Shady Grove cemetery with Emerson Funeral Home of Jonesboro in charge of arrangements.

Melba Felty White
Melba Felty White, age 79 of Irving, TX passed away on Tuesday, July 28, 2009.
She was born on April 24, 1930 in Lake Village, AR to Netter and Agusta Felty. Melba married Bob D. White on March 29, 1952 in Biscoe, AR. She was an active member of The First Baptist Church of Irving for over 50 years.
Survivors include, husband, Bob White; daughter, Diane Golightly; Sons, Barry, Mark and Lee White; sisters, Joyce Hall, Maxine White; brothers, Relton and Netter Felty; grandchildren, Angela Gilland, Bradley Golightly, Ashley White, Brittany White, Camryn White; and numerous, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral Services were held at 12:30 pm on Monday, August 3rd at The First Baptist Church of Irving with interment immediately following at DFW National cemetery.

John Harvey Dry
John Harvey Dry, age 59 of Searcy, Arkansas passed away Wednesday, July 29, 2009. John was born in Brasfield, Arkansas on January 5, 1950 to William Harvey Dry and Johnnie Laverne (Clark) Prince. He was a navy veteran of the Vietnam conflict also of Desert Storm. John loved horses and riding them.
He is preceded in death by his father, William Harvey Dry.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Dry of Searcy; two sons, David and Mark; four daughters, Christina, Keri, Candace and Tracey; his mother, Johnnie Laverne Prince of Brasfield, Arkansas; one sister, Joyce Herring of Humnoke, Arkansas and six grandchildren. Also, many extended family members and a host of friends all who loved him dearly.
Service was held at at 4:00 P.M., Saturday, August 1, 2009 at Searcy McEuen Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Higginson Baptist Church.

Deloris McDaniel Rounsavall
Deloris McDaniel Rounsavall, 76, of Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina, died Tuesday, August 25, 2009. Deloris Rounsavall was born on November 29, 1932 in Drew, Mississippi to Leola Dew McDaniel and Charles Elkins McDaniel. Deloris married Charles Lindy Rounsavall of Hazen, Arkansas in August of 1951, to whom she was married for 46 years until Charles’ death in 1998.
She is survived by her children, Linda Brewer of Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina, Tom Rounsavall and wife, Karan of Cocoa, Florida, and Mike Rounsavall and wife, Sue of Burlington, North Carolina. Grandchildren, Christen Brewer Franks and husband, Scott, Michael Charles Rounsavall and Kevin Richard Rounsavall; 3 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Jane Rounsavall of Greenville, Mississippi; brother and sister-in-law, Ralph and Eve Rounsavall of Los Angeles, Californiam, as well as a beloved group of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 am Saturday, August 29, 2009, at Westbrook Funeral Home Chapel in Hazen, Arkansas by Bro. Larry Tidball. Burial was in the Hazen cemetery. Pallbearers were Dan Rieke, David Rounsavall, Michael C. Rounsavall, Kevin R. Rounsavall, Jeff Rounsavall and Kevin J. Rounsavall. Arrangements were by Westbrook Funeral Home of Hazen.
The multitudes of Heaven open their arms and welcome Deloris into their own.

Mary Nell Tate
Mary Nell Tate, 88, of DeValls Bluff, died Tuesday, August 25, 2009, at Chambers Nursing Home in Carlisle. She was born May 7, 1921, the daughter of John and Bessie Garth.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Lawman, and a son, Jackie Lawman. She is survived by one daughter, Elva Griffin (Richard) of Cabot; one son, David Lawman (Ramona) of West Helena; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, August 27, 2009, at the Hazen cemetery in Hazen, Arkansas. Arrangements are by Westbrook Funeral Home of Hazen.

Eric Darren Govan
Eric Darren Govan, 48, of North Little Rock died Monday, Aug. 24, 2009. He is survived by his daughter, Erica Govan (Greg) Smith; his companion, Brenda Moore; two brothers, Michael (Patricia) Ford, Vernon (Claretta) Anderson; two sisters, Kathy Govan, Kimberly Govan; 11 grandchildren; nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services were held Saturday, 11 a.m., Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church, Hickory Plains, Ark. Services entrusted to Hubble Funeral Home, 374-3134.

Henry Lynn Shuptrine
Henry Lynn Shuptrine, 62, of Mabelvale, slipped away on the wings of his angel on Thursday, August 27, 2009, at 1:30 AM. He was born May 28, 1947, in Texarkana, AR, to the late Robert and Pearl Shuptrine.
A Vietnam veteran, Henry served in the U.S. Army from August 7, 1967 until July 30, 1969. After retiring as a long distance truck driver, he worked for Baptist Health driving a truck and the Little Rock School District driving a bus part time. His favorite hobbies were his yard work and his swimming pool. Some of his happiest times were the family get-togethers. He loved to eat. His grandchildren were his pride and joy along with his Pomeranian, Rowdee.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Lisa Dianne Griffis-Shockley; sister, Bobbie Jean Holley; and brother, Ronnie Harold. He is survived by his wife, Cecile Ann Shuptrine; two daughters, Jacqueline Annette Griffin and husband Joey, and Brandi Lynn Shuptrine Bailey and husband Anthony; brother, Darrell Shuptrine and wife Deby; five grandchildren whom he dearly loved, Annie “Joey” Ethridge, Arron Ethridge, Cambria Bailey, Kalem Bailey and Hayden Shockley; a much loved brother-in-law, Darrell Roberts; and many, many friends and relatives.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, August 29, 2009, at Griffin Leggett Forest Hills Funeral Home. Burial followed in Antioch cemetery in Beebe, AR. Arrangements by Griffin Leggett Forest Hills Funeral Home, 10200 Hwy 5 North, Alexander (501-455-1067).

Florence Gilliam Wright
Florence Gilliam Wright, formerly of Carlisle, passed away August 25, 2009 at the age of 97.
She is preceded in death by her parents James Monarch and Alma Smith Gilliam, husband, Charlie Wright, foster son, Charles Colvin and two brothers, Smith Gilliam and Madison Gilliam. She is survived by two foster daughters, Betty Hogan of Cabot and Evelyn Stroud of Texas and several other relatives.
Graveside Services were held at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, August 29 at Hamilton cemetery, arrangements by Boyd Funeral Home, Lonoke. In lieu of flowers, make memorials to Hamilton cemetery or Hamilton Baptist Church.

Roberta Ferrari Allen
Roberta Ferrari Allen, 54, died Aug. 26, 2009, of complications of ALS. She was born July 31, 1955, in Stuttgart, Ark., to Audrey and Dr. Victor Ferrari. She graduated from Redlands High School in Redlands, Calif., in 1973. She attended the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville and Crafton Hills College in Yucaipa, Calif. She obtained her Radiological Technology Certificate from San Bernardino County Hospital, San Bernardino, Calif. She had been an ultra-sonographer for 30 years.
Robbie is survived by her daughter, Lindsey Allen of Seattle, Wash.; her parents, Audrey and Dr. Victor Ferrari of Carlisle; brothers, Victor of Carlisle and John of Greers Ferry; nieces, Audrey and River Ferrari of Conway; grandmother, Clara Simpson of Carlisle; and her X-ray family of Baptist Health, Stuttgart.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 2, at St. Rose Catholic Church in Carlisle. Visitation is 5-7 p.m. Tuesday in St. Rose Catholic Church parish hall followed by the rosary service at 7 p.m. Arrangements are by Turpin Funeral Home of Stuttgart.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Baptist Hospice, 11900 Colonel Glenn Road, Suite 2000, Little Rock, Ark. 72210; St. Rose Catholic Church, P.O. Box M, Carlisle, Ark. 72024; or Open Arms Shelter, P.O. Box, 161, Lonoke, Ark. 72086.

Elizabeth Ashley Burrow Newton
Elizabeth Ashley Burrow Newton, age 40, of Des Arc died Friday August 28, 2009 at White County Medical Center in Searcy. She was born March 21, 1969 to William and Judy Burrow. She is survived by her husband Todd Newton, two sons Kelvin and Kayman Walker, one daughter Laurel Walker, step-children Lindsey, Morgan, and Hayden Newton, one brother Andy (Shelley) Burrow, and one step-grandchild Keegan Newton.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 pm Sunday at First Baptist Church in Des Arc with burial in Lakeside cemetery by Garth Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Merchants and Planters College Fund for Children P. O. Box 388 Des Arc, AR 72040.

Mildred Floyd Marchand
Mildred Floyd Marchand, 92, died Saturday. Survivors are three daughters, Donna Goetz, of Little Rock, Barbara Voumard, of Ulm, and Nancy Trice, of Stuttgart; two step-sons; step-daughter; nine grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; four great-greatgrandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Lone Tree cemetery chapel. Arrangements by Turpin.
