Betty Almeida

JONESBORO — Betty Stotts Almeida, 86, of Jonesboro, died Sunday, Sept. 9, 2007, at NEA Medical Center in Jonesboro.

Born in Caraway, Mrs. Almeida lived several years in California before moving to Jonesboro 20 years ago. She taught elementary school for 44 years, much of that in California. She was a graduate of Arkansas State University and earned a master’s degree from UCLA.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Jonesboro and was preceded in death by her husband, William Almeida; by a daughter, Cisy Lewis; and by a son, Bob Wallace.

Survivors include sister, Patsy Stotts of Jonesboro; two grandchildren, Kimmy Riehl of Clovis, Calif., and Michael Riehl of Malibu, Calif.; and six great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 in the First United Methodist Church Chapel with the Rev. Patty Soward officiating. Burial will follow in Linwood Cemetery with Emerson Funeral Home of Jonesboro in charge of arrangements.

There will be no visitation.

For lasting memorials, the family asks that consideration be given to First United Methodist Church, 801 South Main St., Jonesboro, AR 72401 or to Jonesboro Church Health Center, 200 West Matthews Ave., Jonesboro, AR 72401.

Willie Ansley

WYNNE — Willie James Ansley, 60, of Wynne died Thursday.

Survivors include his wife, Gloria Ansley of Wynne; children, Terrick Ansley of Wynne, Cherlynita Ansley of Bentonville, Sharmzett Edison of Texas and Rhoda Daye of Georgia; parents, the Rev. Rufus and Opal Ansley of North Little Rock; siblings, Luvenia Price, Rosezenia Gunn, Gloria Walter, Larry Ansley, David Ansley and Melvin Ansley; and six grandchildren.

Services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. in Union Valley M.B. Church with burial in Cogbill Cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday evening from 5-7 at Woodard Funeral Service Chapel.

Dorothy Hotard

BAYOU VISTA, La. — Dorothy Mae Haag Hotard, 84, of Bayou Vista, passed away Sept. 11, 2007, at Teche Regional Medical Center.

She was the daughter of James and Lillie Haag, born in Jonesboro May 1, 1923.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Lawrence Hotard of Bayou Vista; three sons, James Larry Hotard and his wife Norma, Randall Hotard and his wife Sandra and Gerald Hotard and his wife Patty, all of Bayou Vista.

She is also survived by six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Lillie Haag.

Visitation will be Wednesday at Twin City Funeral Home from 6-9 p.m. Visitation will resume Thursday in the funeral home from 8 a.m. until service time.

Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. She will be laid to rest in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Patterson, La.

Joe Keller

JONESBORO — Joe Edward Keller, 76, of Jonesboro died Saturday, Sept. 8, 2007.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Ira Keller, and eight brothers and sisters.

Survivors include three sons, David Keller and wife Pam of Jonesboro, Gayland Keller and Thomas Keller and wife Dana, all of North Dakota; two brothers, Ennis Keller of Tuckerman and Bobby Keller of California; two sisters, Mig King of Swifton and Billye Carol Drake of Fayetteville; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Services will be Friday at 10 a.m. in Dillinger Chapel with burial in Ballews Chapel Cemetery.

Visitation will be Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Arrangements are by Dillinger Funeral Home.

Margaret Alison McDonald

LITTLE ROCK — Margaret Alison McDonald, 43, of Little Rock, formerly of Jonesboro, died at her residence early Tuesday morning.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Langford-Bookout Funeral Home.

Mary Lou Sides

HARRISBURG — Mrs. Mary Lou Sides of Harrisburg departed this life Monday in Jonesboro at the age of 66.

She was a homemaker and enjoyed painting.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Louise Hardee; her husband, Frank Sides; and a brother, Wayne Hardee.

She is survived by three sons, one brother, nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Graveside funeral services will be Friday at 11 a.m. in Mt. Carmel Cemetery at Munford, Tenn., under the direction of Weston Funeral Service of Harrisburg.

Friends may visit at the funeral home Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m.

Bobbie Coggins

JONESBORO — Bobbie Coggins, 59, of Jonesboro, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2007, at St. Bernards Medical Center.

He was an Army veteran and retired from General Electric.

He is survived by a son, Ricky Coggins and his wife Tonya of Poplar Bluff Mo.; one brother, Darrell Coggins; two sisters, Betty Thomas and Lyda Coggins, both of Mesa, Ariz.; and three grandchildren, Alex Lynn Coggins, Zander Kage Coggins and Megan Medley.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvie and Cledia Herriott Coggins.

Graveside funeral services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. in Trinity Cemetery with Bill Thornton officiating.

Visitation will be held Friday from 6-8 p.m. in Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home.

Ruth Dicus

PARAGOULD — Ruth Dicus, 78, of Paragould died Sept. 11, 2007, at St. Elizabeth’s Place in Jonesboro.

She was born Feb. 16, 1929, in Knobel, the daughter of the late Oscar Almus and Dicie Florence Garrison Dicus. Ruth was retired from Ely and Walker Shirt Factory and a member of Seventh and Mueller Church of Christ.

Ruth was also preceded in death by her brothers, Tom, Billy and Lorin Dicus; and one sister, Rosemary Gerdes.

Survivors include one son, Terry Dicus of Paragould; brothers, Lee Dicus of Houston, Howard Dicus of Jonesboro and Jimmy and Dean Dicus, both of Cahokia, Ill.; one sister, Lannie Haller of Paragould; a half sister, Mary Myers of California; and one granddaughter, Hannah Gray of Hope.

Memorials may be made to the Seventh and Mueller Church of Christ, Children’s Education Center.

Arrangements were made through Heath Funeral Home of Paragould. No services are planned at this time.

Jerralldean Earley

DONIPHAN, Mo. — Jerralldean Earley, 31, died Tuesday.

She is survived by a son, Dillon Blake Earley and daughter, Desirea Nicole Earley both of Pocahontas; her parents, Jerald and Elizabeth Dean Oxford of Doniphan; a brother, Michael Wayne Oxford of Pocahontas; two sisters, Kassandra Ivy of Pocahontas and Sherry Oxford of Pevely, Mo. and a grandfather, Johnie Dean of Doniphan.

Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of McNabb Funeral Home with Chris Dixon officiating. Burial will follow in Sutton Cemetery.

Visitation will be this evening from 5-8 at the funeral home.

Wanda Fletcher

LAKE CITY — Wanda Lee Fletcher, 79, of Lake City passed away on Tuesday,Sept. 11, 2007, at St. Bernards Medical Center.

She was a housewife, loved reading and was a member of Nettleton Church of Christ.

She is survived by a daughter, Margaret Ann Davis of Jonesboro; a brother, Charles Davis of Hampton; five sisters, Maxine Trusell of Pine Bluff, Vernell Miller of Hampton, Jessie Fletcher of Cabot, Clara Pollard of Caraway and Dorthy Rutledge of Jonesboro; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Fletcher; her parents, Arther and Gurta Heckbb Davis; and a sister, Geneva Tompkins.

Funeral services will be held on Friday at 3 p.m. in Cane Island Cemetery near Lake City.

Visitation will be held Friday from 12-2 p.m. in Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home in Jonesboro.

Dorothy Hester

JONESBORO — Dorothy Gene Williams Hester, 74, departed this life on Sunday, Sept. 9, 2007, at St. Bernards Medical Center.

She was born on March 9, 1933, to Preston and Sybil Leary Williams in Jonesboro. She was a member of St. Paul AME Church and was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School. Dorothy was retired after many years from General Electric due to illness.

After high school she married Lindy B. Hester, and to this union two sons, Jimmy and Bruce were born. She later adopted her granddaughter, Nyceshia, making her the daughter she never had.

Dorothy loved to crochet. She also enjoyed reading, watching television and cooking such dishes as her special Mexican casserole.

She is survived by two sons, Jimmy Hester and Bruce Hester of Jonesboro; one daughter, Nyceshia Hester of Florida; four grandsons, Keshawn Hester of St. Louis, Jakayis Hester of Harrisburg and Keenan and T.J. Hester of Florida; one granddaughter, Kaleshia Hester of Florida; one great-grandson, Cameron Hester of Harrisburg; one brother, Larry O. Williams of Jonesboro; four sisters, Catherine Cobbs and her husband Charles of Washington, D.C., Geraldine Benman of Flint, Mich., Bettye Echols and her husband Clinton of Mount Morris, Mich., and Mildred Williams of Grand Blanc, Mich.; 21 nieces and nephews; many grandnieces and grandnephews; and cousins, including Alma Miller of Niles, Mich.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Preston and Sybil Williams; three sisters, Helen Williams, Mary Williams and Billie Faye Williams; and by her former husband, Lindy B. Hester.

A home-going celebration of her life will be held Saturday at 3 p.m. in St. Paul AME Church in Jonesboro with the Rev. Keith Granberry officiating. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery under the direction of Gregg Funeral Home of Jonesboro.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are nephews and flower bearers will be nieces.

Visitation will be Friday from 6-8 p.m. in Gregg Funeral Home at Jonesboro.
