Vivian Joyce Webster

Funeral services for Vivian Joyce Webster, 75, of Fairfield will be 11 a.m. today at St. Stephens C.M.E. Church. The Rev. Joseph Davis will preside. Entombment will be in Fairmont Memorial Park.

Born Feb. 1, 1922, in Crawford,  Texas, Mrs. Webster died July 27, 1997, at David Grant Medical Center.

A resident of Fairfield for 34 years, she has been a faithful member of St. Stephens C.M.E. Church since its beginning. She taught numerous Sunday School and Bible classes throughout her life. She served as a stewardess on the St. Stephens Board. She was a member of Adelle B. Ashford Temple No. 903juIbpoew.

She received her barber license in 1941 and practiced as a barber while accompanying her husband throughout his tour with the Air Force. Upon settling in Fairfield, she became employed with Pacific Bell as a telephone operator and worked until her retirement.

She is survived by her husband, Lloyd Sr., of Fairfield; son, Lloyd Jr. of Mariposa; son and daughter-in-law, Vincent and Sheila of Fairfield; daughter, Toni Webster-McIntosh of Gilroy; sister, Hazel La Verne Fowler of Dallas,  Texas; and three grandchildren, Jared Paul McIntosh, Vincent Dominique, and Hannah Rose Webster.

Visitation was Wednesday at St. Stephens C.M.E. Church. There was an Elks Memorial Service on Wednesday evening at St. Stephens C.M.E. Church.

Byron Victor Yee

Funeral services for Byron Victor Yee, 47, will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Bryan-Braker Chapel in Fairfield.

The Rev. James P.K. Shum will officiate.

Entombment will be in Fairmont Memorial Park in Fairfield.

Born Sept. 1, 1949, in Petaluma, Mr. Yee died July 27, 1997, in Roseville after a short illness.

Mr. Yee lived in Roseville for 13 years. He graduated from Armijo High School in 1967 and graduated from University of Pacific in 1971. He received his master's degree in business administration in 1990. He worked as a computer consultant for over 14 years.

Mr. Yee taught at National University and the University of Phoenix as an adjunct instructor in Sacramento. He loved fishing, music, reading, cooking and collecting rare albums.

He is survived by his wife, Patti; and father, Alfred.

Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. Friday in Bryan-Braker Funeral Home in Fairfield.

Felicitas Lavalle

A Mass of the Resurrection for Felicitas Lavalle, 86, of Dixon, will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Dixon.

The Rev. Maurice O'Brien will preside.

Interment will immediately follow in Silveyville Cemetery.

Born March 6, 1911, in Durango, Mexico, Mrs. Lavalle died on July 30, 1997, in Davis after a brief illness.

Mrs. Lavalle lived in Dixon for 19 years. She was a homemaker for 67 years. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting and gardening.

She is survived by her daughters, Sofia and Cleotilde, both of Mexico, Otilia of Vacaville and Gloria, Abigail and Aida, all of Dixon; sons, Antonio, Valente and Jaime, all of Dixon, and Manuel of Sacramento; 43 grandchildren; 68 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in Milton Carpenter Funeral in Dixon, with a rosary at 7 p.m.

Isabel D. 'Beck-Goro' Torres

A Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Isabel D. "Beck-Goro" Torres, 83, of Vallejo will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. Basil's Catholic Church.

Burial will be in the All Souls Cemetery.

Born Jan. 30, 1914, in Agana, Guam, Mrs. Torres died July 31, 1997, in a local hospital after a long illness.

Mrs. Torres had lived in Vallejo since 1953. She was a housewife.

She is survived her daughters, Florencia Brill and Mary Torres, both of Vallejo, and Barbara Baker and Oliva Frost, both of San Diego; sons, David of Gardnerville, Nev., Victor of San Diego, John of Port Orchard, Wash., Gregorio Jr. of Fairfield, Joseph of Guam, and Antonio of Vallejo; sister, Maria Leon Guerrero of Guam; 40 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gregorio, in May 1995.

A vigil service will be 6 p.m. Sunday in Twin Chapels Mortuary. Visitation will be after 1 p.m. Sunday at Twin Chapels Mortuary.

Ruth K. Polanshek

A Mass for Mrs. Ruth K. Polanshek, 76, of Fairfield, will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Fairfield.

The Rev. Luciano Valenzuela will officiate. Burial will be at Rockville Cemetery.

Born Jan. 9, 1921, in Fort Morgan,  Colo., Mrs. Polanshek died July 30, 1997, at Mount Diablo Medical Center in Concord after a long illness.

Mrs. Polanshek lived in Fairfield for the past 47 years.

She was a gifted musician and served her parish and community over the last 42 years.

She enriched peoples' lives through her musical talents. She played the organ, directed choirs and collaborated in various musical capacities. Some of her more notable achievements included musical leadership and service to Holy Spirit Parish.

She was a member of the Fairfield Dulcetone's Choir; Sacramento Archdiocesan European Tour Choir, which sang in cathedrals throughout Europe including a special concert for the pope; Beta Sigma Phi, Fairfield chapter, and Holy Spirit Mothers Guild.

She is survived by her husband, Karl of Fairfield; daughter and son-in-law, Carole and Harry Stone of Davis; son, Robert of Livermore; brother, Richard Krieger of Denver; sister-in-law, Marge Krieger of Denver; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Monday with a rosary at 7 p.m. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church.

Memorial contributions can be made to Holy Faith Sisters Retirement Fund, c/o Holy Spirit Church, 1050 N.  Texas St., Fairfield 94533.

Wyatt Adam Kirth

Funeral services for Wyatt Adam Kirth, 74, of Vacaville will be 1 p.m. Tuesday in Vaca Hills Chapel.

Pastor David Crone of Vaca Valley Christian Life Center will officiate. Burial will be in Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.

Mr. Kirth died Wednesday at his home after a long illness.

Born March 9, 1923, in Oakland, he moved to Vacaville 21 years ago. He worked as a schoolteacher for 30 years, taught music and served in the Army during World War II. He played the trombone and loved music, and enjoyed golf and being with his family.

Mr. Kirth is survived by his wife, Mary; daughter, Dee Dee; sons, Wyatt of Corning and Tony of Vacaville; brothers, Jack of San Luis Obispo, Darrell of Oakdale and Grainger of Florida; grandchildren, Sabrina Rivera of Oakland, Theresa Aduna of Sacramento, Carla, Cheryl and Amanda, all of Red Bluff, and Jonathan of Oregon.

Ruth Patricia McCarthy

A Mass of Christian Burial for Ruth Patricia McCarthy, 90, of Sun Valley, will be 1 p.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church.

The Rev. Jude Ezeji will officiate. Burial will be in Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.

Born Nov. 5, 1906, in  Pennsylvania, Mrs. McCarthy died July 30, 1997, in New Vista Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Sunland after a long illness.

Mrs. McCarthy moved to Sun Valley from Vacaville 23 years ago. She owned and operated the Vacaville Answering Service for 20 years.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Al Palmer, and daughter, LaRue McCarthy; grandchildren, Sandra Palmer, John and Linda, Thomas and Cheri, Linda and Jay Jones, Patrick and Brenda McNair, Sharon and Jerry Powers, Rose Mulcahy (previously married to Robert McNair), Bruce and Audrey McNair, Barbara and Robert Oeher; great-grandchildren, Cory and Lori Bobbitt, Danielle and Paul Collins, Rochelle Weinstein, Meghan, Shanan, David, Erin Jones, Sandra Lee, Christopher, Michael McNair, Shannon Powers, Jonas, Eric McNair, Kim Jolly, Wendell and Lisa Jolly, Stacie and Billy Butler, David McNair; eight great-great grandchildren, Cory Bobbitt Jr., Danae Bobbitt, Megan Mathews, Chad Collins, Colton Powers, Colby Jolly, Sarah Butler, Alyssa Jolly; and nieces, Florence Marsh, Patricia Dougherty and Betty Shakespeare.

Arrangements are handled by Vaca Hills Chapel.

Robert Louis Scholl

A Mass of Christian Burial for Robert Louis Scholl, 90, of Suisun City will be 2 p.m. Monday in Holy Spirit Catholic Church.

The Rev. Luciano Valenzuela will officiate. Inurnment will be in Fairmont Memorial Park. Mr. Scholl died at NorthBay Medical Center after a long illness.

Born Sept. 9, 1906, in Piqua, Ohio, he moved to Suisun 20 years ago. He worked as a baker for Toscana Bakery for 65 years. He was a member of SIRS, Thursday Club, and Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Fairfield. He was an avid ballroom dancer, loved fishing and RV'ing, an closely followed the stock market.

Mr. Scholl is survived by his wife, Anna E.; daughter, Dorothy of Jerusalem; son, Bob of Akron, Ohio; stepdaughter, Ann Berthoux of Fairfield; stepsons, Daryl Watkins of Summerville, S.C., Thomas Watkins of Napa and Terry West of Vietnam; sisters, Thelma Draving of Piqua, Ohio, and Francis Worsell of Ontario, Canada; brothers, William Scholl and Howard Strawser, both of Florida; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m., with rosary at 6 p.m. on Sunday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home in Fairfield.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Holy Spirit Church Building Fund, 1050 North  Texas St., Fairfield 94533.

Matthew Thompson

A memorial service for Matthew Thompson, 74, of Suisun City will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home Chapel in Fairfield.

The Rev. Chuck McKinney of First Christian Church will preside. Inurnment will be private.

Born June 17, 1923, in Minneapolis, Minn., Mr. Thompson died July 30, 1997, in Vallejo after a long illness.

He worked in Los Angeles for 25 years as a technician at the Department of Water and Power Utilities. After retirement, he worked as a private investigator for Associate Justice Leon Thompson of the 9th Federal District, U.S. Court of Appeals.

He was a member of the Mall Walkers in Fairfield, and lived in Suisun City for 13 years.

Mr. Thompson is survived by his wife, Norma of Suisun City; stepsons, Herbart Barton of Redondo Beach, Joe of Lake Forrest, Donald of Inglewood, Phillip of Moreno Valley, Larry "Steve" of Palmdale, and Barry of Inglewood; sister, Ruth Boone of Los Angeles; brother, Mark of Los Angeles; cousins, Dr. Michael Ward of Lubbock  Texas, Dr. Douglas Ward and June Ward, both of Upland; nieces, Michelle Almeida of Hampton, Conn., and Donna  Jones of Los Angeles; numerous other nieces and nephew; 19 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Contributions may be made to the Diabetes Society of Solano County, 817 Missouri St., Suite 4, Fairfield; or the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 844, Santa Rosa 95402.

Evalyn Maxine Nelson

Evalyn Maxine Nelson, 81, died Aug. 2, 1997, in Vacaville after a long illness.

No local services are planned. Burial will be Thursday in the Brinnon Cemetery in Brinnon, Wash.

Born April 25, 1916, in Aberdeen, S.D., she lived in Brinnon, Wash., for the past 50 years. She was visiting her son in Vacaville when she died.

She was a homemaker all her adult life, and for four years had been the owner/operator of the Halfway Restaurant in Brinnon, Wash.

Mrs. Nelson is survived by her husband, Robert of  Washington; sons and daughters-in-law, Ron and Deanna Myhre of Vacaville and Dick and Cleo Myhre of Salem, Ore.; sister, Nadine Lightener of Salem, Ore.; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

All arrangements are under the direction of Morrison Funeral Chapel in St. Helena.

Wayne Enoch Wilkins

Funeral services for Wayne Enoch Wilkins, 80, of Vacaville will be 10 a.m. today at the Civic Center Chapel of Wilson and Kratzer Mortuaries, 24th Street at Barrett Avenue in Richmond.

The Rev. Kathryn Gulbranson of St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Teaneck, N.J. -- one of Wilkins' granddaughters -- will officiate.

Burial will be in Rolling Hills Memorial Park in Richmond.

Born Jan. 21, 1917, in Richmond, Mr. Wilkins died Aug. 1, 1997, in Vacaville.

Mr. Wilkins lived in Richmond for 70 years and in Vacaville for 10 years. He was a firefighter for the Richmond Fire Department for 29 years.

He was also a member of El Portal Richmond Lodge No. 347, Moose Lodge in Vacaville and S.I.R.S.

Mr. Wilkins is survived by his daughters, Shirley Gulbranson of Galt and Linda Fugitt of Vacaville; son, Allan of Bremerton, Wash.; sister-in-law, Leona of Richmond; eight grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty, and grandson, Kris.

Memorial contributions may be made to the donor's favorite charity.
