Albin Joseph Gasiewski
Sept. 12, 1917 - June 29, 2001

Albin Joseph Gasiewski of Boulder died Friday, June 29, 2001, at Manor Care Health Services in Boulder. He was 83.

He was born Sept. 12, 1917, in Cleveland to Albin J. Gasiewski and Michelina Kaczmarek Gasiewski. He married Dorothy M. Grum on June 25, 1955, in Cleveland.

Mr. Gasiewski retired in 1980 as a U.S. Postal Service supervisor. He was a former bank employee and later worked as an usher for the Cleveland Indians baseball program.

He served in the Army in World War II and received the Bronze Star. He served in the Navy during the Korean conflict.

He moved to Boulder in March 2000 from California.

He was a member of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church of Boulder. He was a scoutmaster for seven years with the Boy Scouts of America. He enjoyed watercolor painting.

Survivors include his wife of Boulder; three sons, James M. Gasiewski of Woodside, Calif., Albin J. Gasiewski of Boulder and John F. Gasiewski of Morristown, N.J.; two sisters, Eleanor Karpinski and Julia Cwiklinski, both of Cleveland; and two grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 4 to 6:30 p.m. today at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 2312 14th St., Boulder, with a rosary service at 5 p.m. conducted by Pat Frink. Visitation will also be held an hour before the Mass on Monday.

A Mass of Christian burial will be said at the church at 9 a.m. Monday, with the Rev. Dan Leonard officiating. Private family graveside services will conclude at Green Mountain Cemetery in Boulder.

Harold David Manhoff
July 3, 1916 - June 29, 2001

Harold David Manhoff of Boulder died Friday, June 29, 2001, in Boulder. He was 84.

He was born July 3, 1916, in Springfield, Mass., to William Manhoff and Cecilia Dubrin Manhoff. He married Mildred Bardt on Aug. 8, 1936.

Mr. Manhoff was the owner of Manhoff Studios, specializing in theatrical decorating of theaters and night clubs. He also was a dancer and entertainer.

He graduated from high school in Springfield and served in the Army in World War II.

He moved to Boulder from Florida 2 years ago.

He was a past member of Kiwanis and enjoyed snorkling, painting and playing chess.

Survivors include his wife of Boulder; a daughter, Helen Cuccaro of Boulder; a son, Ira Manhoff of New York; a sister, Edna Smith of Fall River, Mass; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by a son, William Manhoff.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. today at Frasier Meadows Manor, Phillips Chapel, fourth floor, 350 Ponca Place, Boulder, with Rabbi Jayr Davis officiating.

Contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Boulder Valley, 2323 55th St., Boulder, CO 80301.

Thelma Driver
Sept. 10, 1916 - April 19, 2002

Thelma Driver of Lafayette died of natural causes on Friday, April 19, 2002, in Boulder. She was 85.

Born Sept. 10, 1916, in Berwind, she was the daughter of George Roundsley and Isabelle Kerr Roundsley. She married Delmar Melton in La Veta. He died in 1949. She married Guy O. Driver on Feb. 14, 1952, in Lafayette. He died in 1959.

She retired from Lafayette Elementary after working 19 years there as a secretary. She owned a caf in Lafayette.

Mrs. Driver enjoyed crossword puzzles and nature walks, and was an avid sports fan. She was a member of the Lafayette VFW Ladies Auxiliary and served on the Lafayette zoning board.

Survivors include a son, Delmar Melton of Lafayette; a daughter, Jean Brodahl of Fort Collins; two sisters, Elizabeth Zutman and Arlene "JoJo" Cocetti, both of Northglenn; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Roundsley, and a sister, Jean Ingles.

A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Darrell Howe Mortuary Chapel, 1701 W. S. Boulder Road, Lafayette. A reception will follow at noon at the Lafayette VFW, 105 W. Emma, Lafayette. Inurnment will be at Lafayette Cemetery.

Contributions may be made in her name to the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, 105 W. Emma, Lafayette, CO 80026, or the Birds of Prey Foundation, 2005 S. 112 Ave, Broomfield, CO 80020.

Charles E. Easley
June 20, 1916 - April 16, 2002

Charles E. Easley of Boulder died on Tuesday, April 16, 2002, in Boulder after a short battle with cancer. He was 85.

The son of Emery Easley and Millie Loveless Easley, he was born on June 20, 1916, in Marion County, Ill. He married Betty Mills on Oct. 7, 1947, in Crown Point, Ind.

He graduated from high school and military technical training.

Mr. Easley served in the Army Air Corps, which became the Army Air Forces, for nearly seven years, serving as a staff sergeant in the European Theater during World War II. He was awarded two battle stars, three overseas service bars and two service stripes.

He worked for Public Service Company of Colorado as a power station shift operator for 23 years.

He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Boulder and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

"Charles was a dedicated Christian husband and father who will be greatly missed by all, " his family said.

Survivors include his wife of Boulder; a daughter, Jeanne Behr of Upland, Calif.; two sons, Kirk Easley of Greeley and Charles Easley of Lake Ozark, Mo.; a stepson, Richard Finnie of Seattle, Wash.; a sister, Thelma Easley of Zionsville, Ind.; a brother, Lloyd Easley of Paris, France; six grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother and a granddaughter.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Crist Mortuary, 3395 Penrose Place, Boulder.

A service will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at First Presbyterian Church, 1820 15th St., Boulder. The Rev. Peter Barnes of the church will officiate. Interment will be at Mountain View Memorial Park.

Virginia Bettea Emerick
Jan. 20, 1911 - April 19, 2002

Virginia Bettea Emerick of Boulder died of heart failure on Friday, April 19, 2002, in Louisville. She was 91.

The daughter of Peter Bettea and Mary Lucas Bettea, she was born on Jan. 20, 1911, in Charleston, W.Va. She married William L. Emerick on March 20, 1942, in Oak Park, Ill. He preceded her in death.

She worked as an interior decorator and artist.

Mrs. Emerick was a volunteer with Historic Boulder and a longtime member of the Boulder Art Study Club.

"She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Her wonderful spirit and great sense of humor will be missed, " her family said.

Survivors include a son, John Emerick of Aspen, and two granddaughters.

She was preceded in death by sisters Sylvia Morris, Ruth Schmitz and Teresa Danfin.

A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at First Presbyterian Church, 1820 15th St., Boulder. The Rev. John Hess will officiate.

Mildred E. Inman
Jan. 10, 1914 - April 21, 2002

Mildred E. Inman of Longmont died of natural causes on Sunday, April 21, 2002, at Life Care Center of Longmont. She was 88.

Born Jan. 10, 1914, in Flat River, Mo., she was the daughter of Oscar G. Inman and Katherine Edwards Inman.

She earned a bachelor's degree and in 1937 a master's degree in education from the University of Colorado.

Ms. Inman taught in Gill, Fountain and Arvada. In 1943, she began teaching at Casey Middle School in Boulder and retired in 1976.

She moved to Longmont in 1984.

Ms. Inman enjoyed being a Pink Lady at Longmont United Hospital and was a member of the Delta Gamma Sorority, the CEA National Education Association and the Boulder Valley Retired Teachers Association.

Survivors include a brother, Don Inman of Longmont.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Kiley.

No services are planned.

Cremation will be at Howe Mortuary and Crematory in Longmont. Inurnment will be at Fairmont Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Longmont United Hospital Foundation, or Hospice of Boulder County, in care of Howe Mortuary, 439 Coffman St., Longmont, CO 80501.

Nina Marie Benson
April 3, 1912 - April 20, 2002

Nina Marie Benson of Boulder died of natural causes on Saturday, April 20, 2002, at the Hospice of Boulder County Care Center in Louisville. She was 90.

The daughter of Ernest Ackerman and Marie Nilsson Ackerman, she was born April 3, 1912, in Gebo, Wyo. She married Gus Benson on April 30, 1932, in Thermopolis, Wyo. He died in 1992.

Mrs. Benson was a homemaker and a licensed practical nurse at Hot Springs County Hospital and the Pioneer Home, both in Thermopolis.

She was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Thermopolis. Before moving to Boulder, she lived in Elizabeth and was a longtime resident of Thermopolis.

Survivors include a son Dean Benson of San Antonio; one stepson, Karl Thomann of Munkfors, Sweden; two daughters, Carol Skerjanec of Boulder and Betty Haulman of Elizabeth; a brother, James Ackerman of Meeteetse, Wyo.; 14 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Joyce Fleming Stevens, a brother and two sisters.

Visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 6739 South Boulder Road, Boulder.

Funeral services will follow at 10 a.m. at the church. The Rev. Kirk Webster of Elizabeth will officiate.

A second service will be held Wednesday in Thermopolis. Services will conclude with burial at the Monument Hill Cemetery in Thermopolis.

Contributions may be made in her name to the Hospice of Boulder County Care Center, 2594 Trailridge Drive, East Suite A, Lafayette, CO 80026, or to the Hot Springs County Senior Center, 206 Senior Ave., Thermopolis, WY 82443.
