ANNA YOUNG
Anna F. Young Age 89, of Wilmington, DE passed away on November 23, 2008. She was a private duty nurse for many years. Anna was a member of New Castle Free Will Baptist Church in New Castle, VFW Ladies Auxiliary, and the 700 Club. She is survived by her daughter; Melanie A. Sidwell of Wilmington, grandson; Bruce Brothers, Jr. of Harrington, DE, sisters; Ruby Cole of Marshallton, and Louise Gilbert of Akron, OH, and 4 great grandchildren; Crystal Ann, Bruce, III, Christopher, and Tommy. A funeral service will be held on Monday, December 1, 2008 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Gracelawn Memorial Park, Dupont Highway, New Castle, where friends may call after 1. MARTHA ZIMMERMAN
Martha (Long) Zimmerman “Marty” Age 85, went home to be with the Lord on September 30, 2009. Born in Coal Township, PA on August 13, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Joseph D. and Nora E. (Englehart) Long. She lived much of her life in PA, moving to Newark, DE in 1956 with her husband and family. She retired from the Westvaco Co. and was a charter member of Ogletown Baptist Church. Survivors include her son, James Daniel and his wife, Catherine of New Castle; grandsons, Jacob Ronald, James Daniel, Jr. (Katie), and Donald L. Brown (Lorie) of DE, and Matthew Aaron Zimmerman (Penni), of GA, 7 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren; brother, Ralph Long and sister, Mary Klock both of PA. Martha was preceded in death by her husband, Jacob Joseph, daughter, Judith Z. Donovan, son, Jacob Rolland, and 9 sisters and brothers; Irene Erdman, Katie Erdman, Edith Kehres, Edna Snyder, Tacie Yeager, Francis Long, John Long, Richard Long and his twin brother Robert Long. The funeral service will be held on Monday, October 5, 2009 at 1:00 PM at the MCCRERY MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 3710 Kirkwood Highway at Duncan Road where friends may call after 11. Paul C. Baich
Age 46 of Lewes, DE, formerly of north Wilmington, passed away peacefully at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital on Tuesday, April 25, 2006, following complications from cardiac surgery. During Paul's heroic 2 week battle he was surrounded by his loving wife, children, parents and sisters.
Paul was born on October 10, 1959. He graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School and Widener University with a degree in business. In his youth, he was active in DeMolay and was elected Master Counselor. He was a member of Holly Oak United Methodist Church. Paul and his family moved to Lewes 11 years ago where he developed his passion for truly living. He owned and operated his own landscaping business prior to his illness. He embraced all people and made significant and everlasting relationships with so many. Paul did it all. He lived more in his 46 years than most people do in a lifetime.
He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Darlene (Rose) Baich; his son, Dane; his daughter, Noelle Baich, all of Lewes, DE; his parents, Paul and Ethel Baich of north Wilmington, DE; and his 2 sisters, Debra Baich Pietlock and her husband, Donald, of Hockessin, DE and Lewes, DE and Marianne Baich Foard and her husband, Christopher, and their daughter, Rachel of Magnolia, DE.
A Celebration of Paul's life will be held at Holly Oak United Methodist Church, 1511 Philadelphia Pike, Wilmington, DE 19809, on Monday morning, May 1, at 11 am. Burial will be in Mt. Hope cemetery, Aston, PA. Friends may call at the church on Monday morning from 9-11 am.

Justine T. Chudzik (Matwey)
Age 63 of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully at her son's residence on Tuesday, April 25, 2006, surrounded by her family.
Born in Wilmington, Justine was the daughter of the late Stephen and Victoria (Staniszewski) Matwey. For 22 years, she worked for the State of Delaware, Department of Labor as an administrative assistant. She was a member of St. John the Beloved Parish since 1963. An avid shopper and housekeeper, Justine enjoyed trips to Atlantic City, Las Vegas, and Delaware Park with her cousin, Barbara Fad. Her favorite memories were visiting Disney World with her children and grandchildren.
Her husband, Francis H. Chudzik, predeceased her in 1999. She is survived by her children, Francis S. Chudzik and his fiancée, Mary-Beth Ehart, of New Castle and Trina L. Leclerc and her husband, Mike, of Middletown; and the lights of her life, her grandchildren, Sean and Megan Chudzik and Kaylie Leclerc. Also surviving are sister-in-law, Dorothy Joswick, Mary-Beth's children, Paige, Matthew and Shannon Ehart; her longtime friend, Elizabeth McNeill; her cat, Missy; and a host of additional family and friends.
Friends and family are invited to visitation on Sunday, April 30th, between 6-8 pm at MEALEY FUNERAL HOME, Limestone and Milltown Roads, Wilmington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday morning, May 1, at 10 am at St. John the Beloved Church, 907 Milltown Road, Wilmington. Interment will follow in All Saints cemetery, Wilmington.

Nettie Frances Fletcher
Age 94, formerly of Laurel, DE, died April 25, 2006. Service 11 am, Saturday, April 29, HANNIGAN-SHORT-DISHAROON F.H. Visitation 1 hour prior to service.
Cecil S. Harris, Sr. Age 74, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 24, 2006, at home.
Mr. Harris was a Portsmouth, VA native. He graduated from Woodrow Wilson High school and worked at the Bank of Virginia as a management trainee. He was a member of the American Institute of Banking, and was active in the JC's of Portsmouth. Mr. Harris was a proud marine who served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean conflict. He was employed by The News Journal and was retired as building manager for the "The Pond" in Newark.
Cecil was predeceased by his parents, Henry and Bessie Mae Harris. Survivors include his loving wife of 43 years Helen Smith Harris; 1 daughter, Lise A. Harris; and a son, Cecil S. Harris, Jr. Survivors also include 1 sister, Frances H. Whitney of Portsmouth, VA; a niece, Linda Whitley; nephews. Steven Varanko of Ennis, NC and Henry Harris, III of Memphis, TN; and numerous grandnieces and nephews.
There will be a memorial service to celebrate his life on Monday, May 1, 2006, at 11 am at the MCCRERY MEMORIAL CHAPEL, Kirkwood Highway and Duncan Road, Route 2 east at Duncan Road.

Earl L. "E.L." Johnson
Earl L. Johnson "E.L.", age 69, died Monday, April 24, 2006, at home.
Earl worked for the University of Delaware and Brandywine School District until his passing.
Son of the late Earl and Matte P. Johnson (Sellers). He leaves to cherish his memory, brothers, Edward, Robert; and sisters, Rosetta and Shirley Johnson (Robert), Shavonne Davis (Michael) and Pearline Tate (Robert); and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Service 10 am on Saturday, April 29, 2006, at Mother Union AME Church, 701 E. 5th Street, Wilmington, DE. Viewing 9-10 am. Interment in Gracelawn Memorial Park.
Emilio "Mimi" Messina
Mr. Emilio Messina, age 62 of Wilmington, DE, passed away on Tuesday, April 25, 2006.
Mr. Messina was born in Wilmington on April 21, 1944, son of the late Emilio and Margaret (Blanche) Messina. Upon completing his graduation, he served in the U.S. Army until his honorable discharge. He went on to be employed by the Wilmington Police Department, offering 20 years of exemplary service as a police officer and an additional 18 years as a civilian supervisor. Never idle, Mimi had many interests and possessed many skills. He was a motorcycle enthusiast and was also frequently accompanied by a ham radio, his call letters being WJ3E. A caring and dedicated friend, Mimi was always willing to lend his help when needed. He was also an animal lover, but his greatest love was for that of his family. Above all things, Mimi was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather.
Mr. Messina is survived by his devoted wife of 35 years, Laura (Laws) Messina; son, Giuliano E. Messina; daughters, Genevieve and Giovanna Messina; sister, Diane Stoppi and her husband, Gerald; grandson, Lucciano E. Messina; his dear friend, Rasheema Brown; and a host of family and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Elizabeth Church, 809 S. Broom St., on Monday morning, May 1, at 10:30 am. Interment will follow in Cathedral cemetery. Family and friends may call at the CHARLES P. ARCARO FUNERAL HOME, 2309 Lancaster Ave. (opp. Cathedral cemetery), on Sunday evening, April 30, from 6-8 pm.

Josephine (Robino) Minuti
Mrs. Josephine (Robino) Minuti, age 90 of Wilmington, DE, passed away on Wednesday, April 26, 2006.
Mrs. Minuti was born in Wilmington on December 1, 1915, daughter of the late Frank A. and Tersilla (Cassarona) Robino. Josephine owned and operated Mrs. Robino's Restaurant along with her son, niece, and grandson. Devoted to the restaurant, she worked everyday until her current age of 90.
Mrs. Minuti was predeceased by her husband, Andrew Minuti in 1975; and her brothers, Frank A., John, Charles, and Primo Robino. She is survived by her son, Joseph Minuti and his wife, Barbara; daughter, Robin Mabrey and her husband, Alan; sisters, Mary Walker and Angeline Smith; grandchildren, Joseph A. Minuti and his wife, Kristine, Mark Minuti and his wife, Denise, and Andrea Wakefield and her husband, Grier; great-grandchildren, Joseph A., Jr. and Nicholas Minuti, Grier and Amanda Wakefield, and Andrew Minuti; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held privately.

Ronald L. Wright "Ronnie"
Age 33 of Seaford, DE, died on Wednesday, April 26, 2006, at home.
Mr. Wright was a Mason and worked for Wayne Zook. He was an avid Dallas Cowboy Fan. He was the son of Brenda Pastorfield and the late Elwood Wright.
Besides his mother, Brenda, and her fiancé, Ronald Norwood, Ronnie is also survived by his wife, Dawn; 2 sons, Troy Wright and Tyler Wright of Bridgeville, DE; a brother, Kirk Wright of Federalsburg, MD; 3 sisters, Nicole Gleason of Seaford, DE, Sharon Browning of Millsboro, DE and Barbara Flores of Georgetown, DE.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 29th, at 1 pm at the CRANSTON FUNERAL HOME, 300 N. Shipley St., Seaford, DE, where friends may call from 12 noon-1 pm. Burial will be in Bloomery cemetery, Federalsburg, MD.

Merton Ott Walton "Mert"
Age 96, of Dover, DE, formerly of Seaford, DE, died Monday, April 24, 2006 at Bay Health-Kent General Hospital, Dover.
Born in Dover, DE, the son of the late Florence Donoho and Irving K. Walton, he was an electrician for 60 years. He worked out of the Local 1340 IBEW, Newport News VA. He was a member of St. Lukes Episcopal Church, Seaford, Camden Wyoming Lodge 203, Loyal Order of Moose and he enjoyed playing checkers and poker with his fellow residents at Green Meadows Assisted Living.
He is survived by 2 sons, Merton T. Walton of Dover, DE and Gary L. Walton of Loma Linda, CA; a daughter, Regina Fitzgerald of Ft. Myers Beach, FL; 13 grandchildren 20 great-grandchildren, and 14 great-great-grandchildren; and his good friend Beatrice Foresman of Glen Burnie, MD. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Mary Frances McKee Walton in 1992; 2 sons, Donoho Walton and George Pinder, and 2 daughters, Joan Lamb and Rubina Mary Show.
Friends may call Sunday evening from 6-8 pm at WATSON-YATES FUNERAL HOME, Front & King Streets, Seaford. DE. Service will be Monday morning, May 1, 2006 at 11 am in St Lukes Episcopal Church, Front Street, Seaford. The Reverend Jeanne W. Kirby will officiate. Burial will be at St. Lukes Church Yard.

Harold Thompson "Buck"
died peacefully at home in Rehoboth Beach, DE on Wednesday, April 26, 2006 surrounded by his loving family.
Buck was born in Manasquan, NJ on October 18, 1922, son of Clinton F. and Ethel Roland Thompson. After graduation from Manasquan High School, he attended Franklin and Marshall Academy in Lancaster, PA, before entering the University of Delaware in 1941. There he played football for 2 seasons before entering the Army in 1942. He served in Europe in the 222nd Infantry Regiment of the 42nd Rainbow Division serving in WWII, landing on Normandy Beach on D-Day plus one. After the war, he remained active in the Army Reserve, where he was a member of the 446th Military Government Co., Upland, PA until he retired as a Lt. Colonel in 1982. Buck returned to the University of Delaware in the fall of 1946 and was a member of the varsity football team that was 31-0 in conference and the first Delaware team to play in a bowl game, The Cigar Bowl in Tampa, FL. He still holds 2 records at the University of Delaware from 1946, longest rushing play for 98 yards and longest kick-off return for 99 yards. In the fall of 1947 and 1948, he played professional football for the Brooklyn Dodgers in the newly formed All-American Football Conference, returning to the University of Delaware to graduate in 1950. He was a teacher, coach, and counselor at Upper Darby High School in Upper Darby, PA. In 1972, he moved to Lewes, DE and was employed as Financial Aid Director at the Delaware Tech, Southern Campus and then as career guidance and placement counselor for both the Lake Forest and Cape Henlopen School Districts from which he retired in 1986. In 1985, he was elected to the Board of Trustees at the University of Delaware where he served as the Chairman of the Trustee Committee on Physical Education, Athletics, and Recreation and as a member of the Agriculture and Societal Studies and Human Resources Committees. After he retired from the Board, he continued to serve as the Chairman of the Athletics Visiting Committee. He was a member of the Theta Chi fraternity, Jefferson Lodge No. #15 in Lewes, Shrine Club of Delaware, Kent and Sussex Scottish Rite Club, the Shield and Square Club, Reserve Officers Assoc., the Rehoboth Beach Yacht and Country Club, and All Saints' Episcopal Church. An avid sports enthusiast, Buck enjoyed fishing, golfing, and hunting with friends and family and following the Delaware Blue Hens. He was the first sports writer for "The Whale" newspaper and has been inducted to both the University of Delaware Sports Hall of Fame and the Delaware Sports Museum and Hall of Fame.
He is survived by his wife, Joan Marshall Thompson; daughter, Shelly Sposato and husband, Fred, of Milton; daughter, Kathy Booth Reed and husband, John, of Georgetown; and brother, Leroy Thompson of Lewes. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren, Marshall Owings and wife, Christine, Casey Owings, William (Buck) Booth, Meg Booth Lawson and husband, Cliff, Allisa Booth, Mark Booth and Spencer Booth; and 3 stepgrandchildren, Alison Sposato, Jennifer Reed and John Reed, Jr.
Visitation will be held Saturday, April 29, 6-8 pm at PARSELL FUNERAL HOMES & CREMATORIUM, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes. A funeral service will be held at the Atkins-Lodge Chapel on Sunday, April 30, 1 pm, with Rev. Max Wolf officiating. Burial will follow in St. Peter's cemetery-Pilottown Rd., Lewes.
