Daniel R. Roarty

Age 43 of Newark, DE, passed away suddenly on Sunday, August 8, 2004 from injuries sustained in an auto accident.

Dan was the senior product manager at Scott Instruments in Exton, PA. Born and raised in Pleasant Hills, PA, he received his engineering degree from Villanova University. He loved spending time with his family, watching sunsets and viewing lightning storms. He was a member of the ISA.

He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Kelly (Ziegler) Roarty; his children, Joshua (15), Jessica (13), Matthew (11) and Keenan (9); his father, Joseph D. Roarty of Churchill, PA; brothers, Joseph M. of Chicago, IL, David H. of Murrysville, PA, John C. of Houston, TX and James C. of Virginia Beach, VA; his sister, Kate Delaney of Lunenburg, MA, and his aunt, Sarah Roarty of Broomall, PA. He was predeceased by his mother, Mary Joy Roarty.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am on Monday, September 6, 2004 in Resurrection Parish, 3000 Videre Dr., Skyline Ridge, Wilmington, DE. Burial will be private. Visitation will be held from 5-8 pm on Sunday, September 5 at the church with a vigil service to follow at 8 pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Daniel R. Roarty Memorial Fund, c/o WSFS, PO Box 1889, Wilmington, DE 19899-9713. All donations will remain anonymous.

Age 80 of Wilmington, DE died Wed., Sep. 1, 2004 at her daughter's home in Philadelphia. Services 11am Wed., Sept, 3 at Prebyterian Church of Our Savior, 1006 E. 28th St., Wilm. Friends may call 10-11am Wed.

Leonard M. Brinsfield, Sr.

Age 64, of New Castle, DE, passed away on Saturday, September 4, 2004 at home surrounded by his family.

Leonard enjoyed many years at his beach home in Ocean View and loved spending time with his pets. He owned and operated several businesses in the Wilmington area, including Delicatessens and a Tavern/ Package Store. He retired in 2002 as an electrician.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Johnson, of 37 years; a son, Leonard M. Brinsfield, Jr. and his wife, Katie, of Ocean View, DE; brothers, Edward and Bartlett and his wife, Kelly, both of Wilmington; and a sister, Roselyn Layhue and her husband, Jack, of Wilmington. He was predeceased by his brother, Daniel Brinsfield, Sr., in 1996.

A mass will be offered on Wednesday, September 8, at 10:30 am in St. Peter the Apostle Church, 5th & Harmony Sts., New Castle. Visitation will be in the church starting at 9:30 am. Burial in Gracelawn cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Delaware Hospice, Inc., 3515 Silverside Rd., Wilm., DE 19810.

Pauline E. Copeland

Age 90 of Wilmington, DE died Wednesday, September 1, 2004, at St. Francis Hospital.

Pauline was the dau-ghter of the late Elias and Millie Crawford and was born July 10, 1914 in Cher-okee, SC.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo Copeland; and son, Willie Dean Copeland. Mrs. Copeland leaves to cherish her memory her devoted daughter, Colleen Moore; beloved sisters, Alline Chambers and Alma Smith (Robert); loving grandchildren, Romonda Robinson, Benjamin K. Copeland, Adeana Copeland, Donita Copeland, Dean Edward Copeland, Sharon Copeland, Crystel Moore, Derick Washington, Dana Bungy, and Beanita and Deanita Thomas; 14 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; adopted children, James Gooding and Willie and Margaret Sharpe; 1 aunt, Robena Singleton; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

The funeral service will be 11 am Tuesday, September 7, 2004, at Mt. Zion Greater Harvest Ministries Intl., 3607 Governor Printz Blvd., Wilmington, DE, where family and friends may call from 9-10 am. Interment will be in Rolling Green Memorial Park in West Chester, PA.

Age 87, of Smyrna, DE, died Thursday, September 2, 2004 at Kent General Hospital. Service 11 am, Tues., Sept. 7 at Vaughn Green F.H., 5151 National Pike, Baltimore, MD. Friends may call Tues., 10:30 am. Arrangements by MATTHEWS-BRYSON F.H.

William C. David

Mr. William C. David, age 72 of Port Penn, DE died on Thursday, September 2, 2004, at his home.

Mr. David was born in Wilmington on March 28, 1932, and was proud to serve his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

A diesel mechanic by profession, he was employed for 20 years with DART prior to his retirement in 1993.

He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Constance A. Marshall David; son, George H. Marshall III and his wife, Melissa, of Port Penn; and 2 grandchildren, George H. Marshall IV and Christina M. Marshall.

A funeral service will be held at 11:30 am on Thursday, September 9, 2004, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle.

Interment will follow in the Delaware Veterans Memorial cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE.

Friends may call from 6-8 pm on Wednesday, September 8, 2004, at the funeral home.

Leo J. Dugan, Jr.

Age 72, of Wilmington, DE, passed away Friday, September 3, 2004.

Mr. Dugan was a 1949 graduate of Salesianum and was the Recorder of Deeds for New Castle County for 24 years.

He was predeceased by his parents, Leo J. and Mary (Naylor) Dugan, Sr.

He is survived by 2 daughters, Maureen Jones and her husband, Royce Jones, Sr. and Shannon M. Dugan, all of Wilmington. He is also survived by his sister, Mary Croze; his grandchildren, Kelsey and Royce Jones, Jr.; and nieces.

Family and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, September 9, 2004 at 10:30 am at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Church, 6th & Pine Sts., Wilmington. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Salesianum School, 1801 N. Broom St., Wilmington, DE 19805.

Ka-Shy Raimeer Egerson

Ka-Shy Raimeer Egerson was born July 19, 2004.

He departed his brief life September 2, 2004.

Ka-Shy is survived by his mother, Raichelle Knott; father, Ka-Wee Egerson; maternal grandparents, Diane Knott and Robert Trago, Jr.; maternal great grandmother, Helen Knott; paternal grandfather, Paul Rosario; paternal great grandmother, Vetrina Smith; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, September 7th, in the chapel of Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, Minquadale, New Castle, where friends may call in the chapel after 10 am.

Interment will be in the adjoining park.

John J. "Jack" Haley, Jr.

Age 75, of Wilmington, DE, died Thursday, September 12, 2004 in the St. Francis Hospital.

Mr. Haley was vice president of sale for Oliner Fibre Company in NJ, retiring May 1st of this year after 14 years of service. Previously he was sales manager for NVF in Yorklyn for 35 years. He was a Navy veteran, serving in NSA (National Security Agency) in Washington, DC. He was a 1947 graduate of Archmere Academy, a graduate of St. Norbert College in DePere, Wisconsin and he attended Georgetown School of Foreign Service.

Mr. Haley was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, where he served as an Eucharistic minister and an usher. He was a member of the Alumni Council of Archmere Academy for 10 years and was the 1998 recipient of the Archmere Academy Alumnus of the Year Award. Mr. Haley was also a member of the Men of Malvern.

The family wishes to extend a thank you to the staff of the St. Francis Hospital for their care of Jack during his illness.

Mr. Haley was the son of the late, John J. Haley, Sr. and Genevieve Foster Haley. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Phyllis A. (McCafferty) Haley; his children, Pamela Ann Lynch and her husband, Robert, of Salisbury, MD, John J. Haley, III, of Deerfield Beach, FL, and Mary Anne "Mimi" Meister and her husband, Daniel, of Del Ray Beach, FL; 2 grandchildren, Michael Sean Lynch and Haley Ann Meister; and his nephew, John A. "Pete" Clark, III.

Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Thursday morning at 10:30 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 4701 Weldin Road, Liftwood, Wilmington. Burial will be in St. Joseph on the Brandywine cemetery. Friends may call at the CHANDLER FUNERAL HOME, 2506 Concord Pike, Wilmington, on Wednesday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Archmere Academy, 3540 Concord Pike, Claymont, DE 19703.

Harold M. Hilyard

Age 87, of Kenton, DE, died peacefully at the home of his daughter, on September 4, 2004. Services will be Wed., Sept. 8, at 3 pm in the FARIES FUNERAL CHAPEL, 29 S. Main St., Smyrna, DE, where friends may call Tuesday from 7 - 9 pm.

Berniece J. Horney

Miss "B" Age 78, of Newark, DE, passed away on Friday, September 3, 2004 at Arbors of New Castle.

Berniece was a Conrad High School graduate and received her Bachelors degree in Food and Nutrition from the University of Delaware. She retired from the State of Delaware after working in the Christina School District for 23 years. After retiring, she especially enjoyed mentoring at McVey Elementary School, helping 1st and 2nd graders learn to read. She also enjoyed playing the piano, cooking, sewing and spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived her children, Michael, of Newark, John, of Charlestown, MD, Lynn, of Annapolis, MD, and Karen, of Newark, DE; her grandchildren, Lauren, Nathan, Kevin, Bryn, and Chance.

A service will be on Wednesday, September 8, 2004 at 1:30 pm at the MCCRERY MEMORIAL CHAPEL, Kirkwood Highway and Duncan Road, where friends may call after 12:30 pm. Burial will in Gracelawn Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, please contribute to your favorite charity.

Matthew P. Moore

Age 30, of Wilmington, DE, died Saturday, September 4, 2004 at his residence.

Mr. Moore worked for New Castle County in the Maintenance and Construction Department for the last 8 years. His father, James Moore, predeceased him in 1996.

He is survived by his mother, Frances (Hendrickson) Moore; his sister, Amy Moore; 2 grandmothers, Ann Moore and Phyllis DeLuca Paolino; an uncle, Sonny Hendrickson; 3 aunts, Maryann Moore, Elizabeth Moore, and Sarah Moore. He is also survived by his special friend, Bernice Hewitt and her 3 children, Melissa, Buddy and Matthew.

Family and friends are invited to a Memorial Service, Wednesday, September 8, at 1:00 pm at MEALEY FUNERAL HOME, Limestone and Milltown Rds. Calling hours will be 12-1 pm. Interment will be private.

Frederick D. Murray

Age 62, of Millsboro, DE, died Sunday, September 5, 2004. Service 1 pm, Saturday at the Replanted Zion Church, Ridgely, MD, where friends may call from 11 - 1 and also from 6 - 8 on Friday at the WATSON FUNERAL HOME, Millsboro, DE.

Thelma K. Rhoades

Age 76, of Chestertown, MD, and formerly of Cecilton, passed away on Saturday, September 4, 2004 at her residence.

Mrs. Rhoades was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Rhoades in 1997. She is survived by 4 daughters, Betty Lou Mullen, of Smyrna, DE, Bertie Noland, of Warwick, MS, Jane Covey, of Chestertown, MD, and Lisa Rhoades, of Delaware City, DE; 1 sister, Mary Ellen Alexander, of Townsend, DE; and 1 brother, Samuel C. Knotts, Jr., of Cheswold; 9 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 8 at 2:00 pm in the DANIELS & HUTCHISON FUNERAL HOME, 212 N. Broad St., Middletown. Friends may call Tuesday Evening from 7-9 pm, at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Townsend cemetery.
