Imogene B. Blauser, 77, of Marianna, died Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2005 at her residence.

Funeral services for Alma Estelle Hall will be held at 2 p.m., today, Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2005 at Maddox Chapel with the Revs. Jack Howell, Ray Johnson and Harry Lawrence officiating. Burial will follow in Cypress Cemetery

Imogene B. Blauser, 77, of Marianna, died Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2005 at her residence.
She was a native of Graceville, lived most of her life in Jackson County where she was a homemaker and attended Evangel Worship Center Assembly of God Church in Marianna.
Survivors include his son, Larry Eugene Barrentine and wife Betty of Dellwood; daughters, Dorothy Jean Vorndran of Lake Placid, Carolyn F. Raines and husband Allen of Marianna, and Nancy Rogers and husband Dempsey of Panama City; sisters, Cleo Slater, Bonnie Condry, Louise Shouppe and Lorita Scurlock, all of Graceville; 12 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, Oct. 14, at New Hope Assembly of God Church in Graceville, with the Revs. Lavon Pettis and Johnny Shepard officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with James and Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel of Marianna directing. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., today, Thursday, Oct. 13 at Maddox Chapel.
Edna H. Howell, 98, of Marianna, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2005, at the Marianna Health and Rehabilitation Center.
She was of the Baptist faith and was a member of Providence Baptist Church. She was active in her Sunday school class, Ladies III. She was a native of Jackson County, having lived many years in Grand Ridge and Marianna. She was a member of the AARP and Widowed Persons Service. She loved to fish and get her hands dirty gardening. She enjoyed a special relationship with each family member and friend.
Survivors include her son, Steve Comerford and wife Norma of Sneads; foster daughter, Pat Rabon and husband J.W. of Sneads; sisters, Eva Lee Mitchell and husband James of Chattahoochee and Shirley Boles of Fort Walton Beach; five grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews, great-and-great-great-nieces and nephews. She is also survived by many of her special friends.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Oct. 14, at 10 a.m., at Lord Funeral Home Chapel, with the Revs. Willie Butler and Roland Rabon officiating.
Interment will follow at Pope Cemetery. The family will receive friends this evening, Thursday, Oct. 13, from 5-7 p.m., at Lord Funeral Home. Lord Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Allen H. Moss, 87, of Compass Lake died Monday, Oct. 10, 2005, in Jackson Hospital. Services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, October 14, 2005, at St. Columba Catholic Church, 2700 W. Services for Katherine S. Haynes will be held in the Marianna Chapel Funeral Home, today, Thursday, Oct. 13, 2005, at 1 p.m., with Pastor Roland Rabon officiating. Following the service there will be a private entombment for the family only at Pincrest Memorial Gardens. Marianna Chapel Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
James A. White, 74, of Stonington, Conn., passed away at his residence Monday, Oct. 3, 2005.
He was of the Catholic faith. He was born July 7, 1931 in Staten Island, N.Y. He attended Princeton University where he graduated with a PhD. He later enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard and retired as a lieutenant.
He is survived by his sister-in-law, Mrs. Olga White of Alford, Fla., four nephews, Frank White and wife Theresa of Compass Lake, Greg White and wife Tarri of Tallahassee, Fla., Kevin White and wife Tammy of Compass Lake and James White of Charleston, N.C. He is also survived by one niece, Veronica Brachman and husband Phillip of Atlanta, Ga.
A memorial service will be held Monday, Oct. 17, 2005 at 11 a.m. at the graveside of Pinecrest Memory Gardens with Father Sean Knox officiating.

Charles E. Jordan, 63, beloved husband, father, and son went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2005.
He was born in Defuniak Springs on July 16, 1942 and he grew up in Marianna, Fla., where he graduated from Marianna High School in 1960. He earned his electrical engineering degree from Auburn University in 1965. While attending Auburn, he played percussion and base with his band, the Uniques, and he was a licensed pilot.
In 1965, he married the love of his life, Teresa Elaine Pilcher. They were blessed with two sons, Patrick and Brian. After graduation, Charlie began his career with Gulf Power Company, where he became a part of the Gulf Power family for 39 years. He started as an engineer in System Protection and progressed through various positions and retired in April 2004, as the general manager of Power Delivery.
After retirement, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends at their lake house on Lake Martin. As a 30-year Auburn football season ticket holder, he occupied his corner seat in Section 12, Row 35, Seat 36, at Jordan Hare Stadium, sharing football memories with family and friends. He will always be remembered for his generosity, his commitment to family and friends, his passion for Auburn University, his tremendous work ethic, and his famous saying, "Patience has its virtue."
He was preceded in death by his father, E.B. Jordan.
Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Teresa; two sons, Patrick and Brian; mother, Bernice Jordan; aunt Eunice Jackson; his precious girls, Little Bit, Tid Bit and Tinkerbell; many cousins and numerous loving family members and friends.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jim Babbitt, Greg Golden, Charles Henderson, Harley Henderson, Herron Henderson, and Richard Jackson.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Oct. 17, at 11 a.m. at Faith Chapel North Funeral Home with visitation from 10-11 a.m. Dr. Anthony Owens officiate. Burial will follow at Bayview Memorial Park. Faith Chapel Funeral Home North 1000 Highway 29 South is in charge of arrangements.
Ronald E. "Don" Grant, 76, of Marianna died Friday, Oct. 14, 2005 in Tallahassee.

Doris Jones Raphael Wells, 87, honored teacher, devoted wife and mother, passed away peacefully on Oct. 12, 2005 at the Army Retirement Community in San Antonio. She grew up in rural Florida, but was proud to call San Antonio her home for over 40 years.
She was born on Oct. 5, 1918 to Clarence William Jones and Claudia Cecil McCranie of Grand Ridge Fla., both of whom trace their ancestors to southern colonial settlers prior to U.S. Independence. Doris attended public schools in Florida, and as the first member of her family to attend college, attended the Florida State College for Women (now Florida State University) and in 1938 received her teaching certification. During World War II, while working as a clerk at the Mariana (Florida) Air Base, she met her husband of 43 years, then Army Air Corps flight cadet Victor G. Raphael of Natick, Mass. They were married in 1943, and while Victor served as a pilot overseas in the Asian Theatre, Doris taught school in Greenwood, Fla. After World War II, Doris supported her husband throughout his 25 year career in the U.S. Air Force, until his retirement in 1964, when they retired in San Antonio. Doris then returned to her love of teaching children and completed a Bachelor of Science Degree in education at Our Lady of the Lake College and a Master of Arts in elementary education and a Special Certificate in Reading from Incarnate Word College. She worked in the San Antonio Northside Independent School District (NISD) as reading specialist for over 20 years until her retirement, with over 10 years at Glen Oaks Elementary School. During her career she received numerous awards and was named the NISD 1980-81 Teacher of the Year. She served as an officer on the Alamo Reading Council and was an active member of the Texas State Teachers' Association and the National Education Association. Doris's dedication to children and teaching was reflected in her active support of The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International (The Teachers' professional service organization) for 25 years.
She received the prestigious State Achievement Award in 1989. She served as the president (1976-78) of the Society's San Antonio Chapter (Iota Beta), as the Area VI coordinator, secretary-treasurer and chairman of the San Antonio Area Coordinating Council, chair of the State Necrology Committee. She received the Delta Kappa Gamma Society's Key Women Educator Award in 1985, 1987, 1989 and 1993. She also served as chair of the Society's Texas State Convention in 1987. Doris was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star and was a long-time member of Colonial Hills Methodist Church, where she received training and served as a Stephen Minister ministering to others in grief.
Her husband Victor passed away in 1991, and in 1994 she married Col. Woodrow Wells (US Army Retired), a widowed long-time family friend. They lived at the Army Retirement Community until his death in 1997.
Doris is survived by her son, Col. Victor G. Raphael, (US Army, Retired) of Springfield, Va.; two daughters, Marcia E. Raphael of San Antonio and Janet M. Morgan of Ethel, Miss.; her elder sister, Evelyn Burns of Woodstock, Ga.; and her brother, Buck Jones of Jakin, Ga.; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
In lieu of flowers friends may send a donation in her honor to Delta Kappa Gamma Scholarships, 2514 Grasmere St., Garland, Texas 75040. Viewing will be held at Porter Loring Funeral Home, 1101 McCullough on Sunday, Oct. 16, from 2-5 p.m. Interment will be at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery
on Oct. 17 at 10:30 a.m. and a memorial service will be held at the Army Retirement Community Chapel at 7400 Crestway at 12:30 p.m., Oct. 17.
George Dewey Granger Jr., of Cottonwood, Ala., died Saturday, Oct. 15, 2005 at Jackson Hospital in Marianna, Fla. He was 76.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 17, in New Harmony Freewill Baptist Cemetery
in Cottonwood with the Rev. John Smith officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home in Dothan from 3-5 p.m., today, Sunday Oct. 16.
Granger was born in Cottonwood on Oct. 24, 1928, to the late Dewey and Mattie Guy Granger. He was the owner and operator of Granger Homes in Cottonwood. He was in the contracting business for 40 years.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mrs. Louise Granger and Mrs. Lucille Tindall and one brother, Leonidas Granger.
Survivors include four daughters, Cathy Weed and husband Tim of Dothan, Sheila Long of Daphne, Ala., Donna Turner and husband Jeff of Dothan, and Sharron Calloway and husband Kim of Malone, Fla.; two sons, Dennis Granger and wife Cindy of Ashford and Gary Granger and wife Beth of Dothan; 11 grandchildren, Shelley Granger of Charlotte, N.C., Garrett Granger of Ashford, Jared Weed of Dothan, Brooke Granger of Dothan, Jackson Granger of Dothan, Brandon Blizzard of Daphne, Ala., Michael Blizzard of Daphne, Ala., Justin Andrews of Dothan, Cole Turner of Dothan, Aaron Calloway of Malone, Fla. and Shelby Calloway of Malone Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.

Charles Robert Dykes Jr., 77, of Marianna, died Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2005, at Chipola Nursing Pavilion in Marianna.
He was a native and life long resident of Jackson County, and a member of Sycamore Baptist Church. He was also a member of Sycamore Volunteer Fire Department and was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a retired maintenance supervisor at the Tallahassee airport.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Cooper Dykes; sister, Wilma Whittington; and aunt, Lucille Maloy.
Survivors include his sister, Willie Mae Goold and husband Ron of Marianna; brother-in-law, Robert Earl Whittington of Sneads; nieces, Kay Land and Jan McClamma, both of Sneads; nephews, Allen Welch Jr. of Marianna, and Kim and Mike Whittington, both of Sneads.
Services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 6, at Lanier-Andler Funeral Home Chapel in Sneads. Burial will follow at Sycamore Cemetery
in the Sycamore Community in Gadsden County.
The family will receive friends an hour before services Thursday, at Lanier-Andler Funeral Home Chapel.
Jonathan "Joe" Snell, 41, of Newark, N.J., passed away Monday, Oct. 3, 2005, at his mother's residence in the Stateline Community, in Campbellton.
He was born in Houston County, Ala., to Ernest and Betty Jean Jett Snell Oct. 17, 1963.
He leaves to mourn his passing his son, Jonathan Julius Snell of Plainfield, N.J., mother, Betty Jett Snell of the Stateline Community; father, Ernest Snell of Madrid, Ala.; brothers, Oscar Wayne Snell and wife Gwen, and Robert F. Snell of Calera, Ala.; uncles, aunts, nephews, a niece, a great-nephew and cousins.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, Oct. 7, at McKinnie Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Robert L. Register officiating. Memorialization will be by cremation, with McKinnie Funeral Home of Campbellton directing.
