David D. Beller Sr., 79, of Eustis, died Sunday (Nov. 12, 2000) in Eustis. Born in Hoppenville, Pa., he moved to Eustis from Hereford, Pa., in 1989. He was a truck driver and a member of Ziegel's United Church of Christ of Breinigsville, Pa. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II as a military police officer and escorted General Dwight Eisenhower. He was also a member of VFW of Mancungie, Pa. Survivors include: His daughter, Judith A. Drabick of Eustis; sons, Timothy S. of Whitehall, Pa., David D. II of Denver, N.C.; step sons, Leonard S. Drabick of Summerfield, Stanley C. Drabick of Orefield, Pa.; daughter, Wanda L. Maikits of Allentown, Pa; 14 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Harden/Pauli Funeral Home, Eustis.
Friends of David D. Beller, Sr. will be received at Harden/Pauli Funeral Home on Tuesday (Nov. 14, 2000) from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Services and internment will be at Allentown, Pa. Harden/Pauli Funeral Home, Eustis.

Philomena Dickinson
Philomena Dickinson, 84, of Leesburg, died Saturday (Nov. 11, 2000). Mrs. Dickinson was a clerk for Metropolitan Insurance Company. Born in Wicklow, Ireland, she moved to Central Florida in 1988. She was a member of St. Patricks Church of Mount Dora. Survivors include: Her husband Frank and her sister, Mary Carmel Basilio of Woodbridge, Va. Steverson -- Hamlin & Hilbish, Tavares.

Edward J. Fitzpatrick
Edward J. Fitzpatrick, 75, of Zellwood, died Thursday (Nov. 9, 2000). He was retired from Ford Motor Company after 30 years. Born in Detroit, Mich., he moved to Central Florida in 1986. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. Survivors include: His wife Paula; daughter, Paula Opal of Longwood; brothers, Robert, Danny and Larry, all of Michigan; sisters, Shirley Ash, Sally Durkee and Gerry Sutherland, all of Michigan and two grandsons. Lowell Royal Garner
Lowell Royal Garner, 79, of Leesburg, died Sunday (Nov. 12, 2000). He moved to Leesburg from Jacksonville in 1949 where he became a watchmaker at Edenfield's Jewelry Store which he purchased in 1965 and owned and operated until January of 2000. He was a member of the Downtown Merchants Association. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and co-founder of Carver Heights Church of Christ. Mr. Garner was a U.S. Army Air Corps Veteran of World War II. He was a radio operator and machine gunner on a B-24 and received the Distinguished Flying Cross, and the Air Medal and two clusters. He served on 49 bombing missions. Survivors include: His wife, Lillie Mae "Tootsie"; son, Ricky "Rick" of Leesburg; daughter, Carolyn Garner Harp of Leesburg; brother Fred G. of Groveland; sister, Ida Margaret Hooten of Waldo. Beyers Funeral Home, Leesburg.
Funeral services for Lowell Royal Garner will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday (Nov. 15, 2000) at South 14th Street Church of Christ with Harold Jones officiating. Family and friends may call at the Funeral home from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday (Nov. 14, 2000). Interment will be at Florida National cemetery in Bushnell with full military honors conducted by the Lake County War Veterans Honor Guard. Robert F. Henderson Sr.
Robert Franklin Henderson Sr., 62, of Inverness, died Friday (Nov. 10, 2000). He was formerly from Kissimmee and was a resident of Inverness for many years. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Inverness. Survivors include: His son, Robert F. of Deltona; daughter, Joan E. Berry of Camp Creek, W.V.; mother, Idell Ashbury of Talladega, Ala.; brother, John of Huntsville, Ala.; half sisters, Margaret Hornbuckle of Mobile, Ala., Vonnie Daniels of Talladega, Ala., Idell Ashbury of Talladega, Ala.; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Barbara Ellen Jean Lane
Barbara Ellen Jean Lane, 58, of Bushnell, died Friday (Nov. 10, 2000). Born in West Virginia, she was a resident of Bushnell since 1993 and was formerly of Citrus County. She was a waitress. Survivors include: Daughters, Shelly Fletcher of Louisville, Ky., Brenda Watson of Crystal River; brothers, Henry Bryan of Bushnell, James Bryan of Ashtabula, Ohio; Sisters, Ethel Griffith and Carolyn Lemon, both of Ashtabula; and six grandchildren. Mildred Murphy Lane
Mildred Murphy Lane, 91, of Altoona, died Thursday at Florida Hospital-Waterman. Born in Ithaca, N.Y., she moved to Montverde from New York in 1978. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church of Montverde, charter member of First Garden Club of Trumansburg, N.Y. and Chief Taughannock Chapter DAR, Trumansburg, N.Y. Survivors include: Her sons, Irwin E. of Montverde, Richard M. of Elyria, Ohio; daughter, Janeen Lane Fowler of Fort Pierce; Sister, Grance M. Landon of New York; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Kurfiss Funeral Chapel, Clermont.

Charlotte Lightbody
Charlotte Lightbody, 66, of Umatilla, died Friday (Nov. 10, 2000). Mrs. Lightbody was a homemaker. Born in Wurzburg, Germany, she moved to Umatilla in 1988. She was a member of St. Mary of the Lakes Catholic Church. Survivors include: Her husband, Kenneth Robert; daughter, Ellen Bottorff of Phoenix, Ariz. and two granddaughters. Lola B. Lough, 88, of Leesburg, died Saturday (Nov. 11, 2000). She was a retired sales clerk. She was born in Linden and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Philip Marsala
Philip Marsala, 79, of Lady Lake, died Sunday (Nov. 12, 2000) at Lady Lake Specialty Care. He was a retired machinist. born in New York, he moved to Central Florida in 1982 from Massapequa, N.Y. He was a Catholic and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. Survivors include: Daughters, Judy Florence Berardi of East Rockaway, N.Y., Maureen Arcati of Copiague, N.Y., Nancy DiSanto of Medford, N.Y.; son, Philip of Lindenhurst, N.Y.; three sisters; one brother; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. All Faiths Cremation Society, Lady Lake.

Waldemar "Pete" Pedde
Waldemar "Pete" Pedde, 63, of Mount Dora, died Sunday (Nov. 12, 2000) at Daytona Beach. Born in the Ukraine, he moved to Lake County from Cleveland, Ohio in 1977. He was a master tool and die maker and was associated with Lockheed Martin of Orlando. He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Moose Lodge of Eustis and Family Bible Church of Eustis. Survivors include: His mother, Bertha Pedde of Cleveland; son Erik of Leesburg; daughters, Linda Farlow of Eustis, Michelle Riehm of Mount Dora, Vera Dorn of Mount Plymouth; brother, Edwin of Cleveland; sisters, Anna Detke of Daytona, Gertrude Krenz of Cleveland and five grandchildren. Funeral services for Waldemar "Pete" Pedde will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday (Nove. 16, 2000) from the Family Bible Church of Eustis. Rosa Elizabeth Russell
Rosa Elizabeth Russell, 81, of Leesburg, died Sunday (Nov. 12, 2000). Born in Houston, Pa., she has lived in Leesburg since 1998, but was a long time resident of Webster. She was a nurse and a member of Gospel Tabernacle of Leesburg. Survivors include: Five sons, John L. of Texas, James Russell of Florida, Mike, of Texas, Jonathon of Bushnell, Jesse of Nevada; daughters, Catherine Gillis of Sumterville, Jane Gore of South Carolina; one sister, Kitty O'Dor of New Jersey; 18 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Funeral services for Rosa Elizabeth Russell will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday (Nov. 15, 2000) at Florida National cemetery in Bushnell with the Rev. Bill Jackson officating. Doris Mae Schroeter
Doris Mae Schroeter, 77, of Leesburg, died Saturday (Nov. 11, 2000). She was a retired Office Manager/Bookkeeper for 25 years. Born in Hector, Minn., she moved from there in 1957. She was a member of Glori Dei Lutheran Church. Survivors include: Her daughter, Diane K. Knox of Zellwood; four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one great, great-grandchild. Robert Edward Dugroo
Robert Edward Dugroo, 76, a retired computer engineer with The International Business Machines Corporation (IBM), died on Saturday, Aug. 23 2008 of natural causes at Leesburg Regional Medical Center, Leesburg. As a resident of Leesburg since 2001, he came from Cape Cod, Mass., with his wife, Eugenia (Alice) of 51 years. Mr. Dugroo was born in Holyoke, Mass., in 1932 to the parents of Genevieve E. Adamiak and Edward R. Dugroo. He attended the Holyoke school system and graduated from Holyoke High School in 1950. Mr. Dugroo started his career as a Navy radio technician aboard the Destroyer U.S.S. Charles R. Ware, where he diligently studied electronics. As a U.S. Navy veteran, he joined IBM and held numerous engineering positions in customer service, education and assurance divisions for state of the art mainframe computers. He and his family held residences in Thompsonville and Hazardville, Conn., West Hurley and Hyde Park, N.Y., and Eastham, Mass. Mr. Dugroo was a member of the Morgan Hill Game Association, president of the Hurley Little League, and held various jobs throughout retirement in Cape Cod to include general contracting of custom homes, hotel management at the Ships Bell Inn and Seashore Park Motor Inn; and also held volunteering positions for meals on wheels, census taking, and videotaping whales on the Dolphin fleet in Provincetown. Mr. Dugroo was known for his generosity, brilliant craftsmanship with wood and tools, and willingness to lend a helping hand. He was especially fond of animals, in particular his pet Cairn Terriers, Toby and Bonnie Doone, and beagle, Tammy. His hobbies included salt, fresh water and fly fishing, rooting for the New England Patriots, and the blue man group. His wife, Eugenia (Alice) Dugroo died in 2004. He is survived by a his two children, Cynthia Jean of Poughkeepsie, N.Y., and Mark Edward (Jacqueline) of Silver Spring, Md.; three grandchildren, Christopher Andrew DeHart, Joanna Alice Dugroo, and Katherine Jane Dugroo; and a brother, Eric Dugroo of Holyoke, Mass. The service will be held in private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are entrusted to Beyers Funeral Home and Crematory, Leesburg.

Doctor Douglas Phelps
Reverend Doctor Douglas Phelps, age 88, died on Thursday, Nov. 13, 2008. Mr. Phelps was a decorated veteran of World War II and the Korean War. Funeral services for Reverend Doctor Douglas Phelps will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 22, 2008 at Mt. Olive Progressive Baptist Church, 405 S. Childs Street, Leesburg, with the Rev. James Brown, Pastor officiating. Visitation will be Friday, Nov. 21, 2008 from 6-8 p.m. at Mt. Olive Progressive Baptist Church. Internment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Leesburg. He is survived by three sisters, Marie Murph and Queen E. McClendon of Boynton Beach, and Louise Rucker of Marshallville, Ga.; also a host of nieces and nephews, and sorrowing friends. Arrangements are entrusted to Marvin C. Zanders Funeral Home Inc., Apopka.

Alice Maye Johnson
Alice Maye Johnson, 83, passed away peacefully at the Lake Harris Health Center, Leesburg, on Thursday, Jan. 22, 2009. She was the third of five siblings: Margerye, Daniel Wesley (deceased), John Leslie and Maurice Willis Johnson. Alice attended the public schools of Lake County graduating from Lake County Training School, Leesburg in 1943. She matriculated at Florida A&M College, Tallahassee, earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in home economics in 1947. She was a teacher in the Broward County School District for 31 years. Upon retirement, she returned to Leesburg and worked several years for Lake County Senior Services. She volunteered many hours to civic, social, religious, and political organizations. She was a devoted member of St. Paul A.M.E. Church, Leesburg and Greater Wards Chapel, Hallandale. Alice held membership in Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. for over 60 years. During that time, she served faithfully as president of the Broward County, Miami and Leesburg Alumnae Chapters. She leaves to preserve her memories: John Leslie Johnson (Betty), Margerye Warren (James) Tallahassee, Maurice Willis Johnson (Cathy) of Reno, Nev., and beloved nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation will be held on Friday, Jan. 30, 2009 from 6-8 p.m. at St. Paul A.M.E. Church, 110 S. Lake St., Leesburg. Funeral services will be on Saturday, Jan. 31, 2009 at St. Paul A.M.E. Church at 1 p.m. Arrangements by Eastside Funeral Home, Leesburg.
