HODGES, Mary Ruth, 80, of Tampa, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday, September 27, 2002. She was preceded in death by her husband, Judge John G. Hodges, Sr. She is survived by her children; sons, John G. Hodges, Jr. and his wife, Cheryl and Robert C. Hodges; a daughter, Jane H. Leverone and her husband, Tom (Lumpy), all of Tampa; a brother, Julian Betts and his wife, Beth of Melbourne, Fla.; a sister, Dorothy Olsen of St. Petersburg; and grandchildren, Harrison Grady Hodges, Tracy Parlin Hodges, Courtney Collier Hodges, Elizabeth Parlin Leverone, Robert Grady Leverone and Thomas Lee Leverone, Jr. Mrs. Hodges was born in Perry, Florida and had been a resident of Tampa most of her life. She was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church where she served on the Altar Guild. Other memberships include Palma Ceia Golf & Country Club, The Chiselers, and the Amaryllis Garden Club. She was a volunteer (Pink Lady) at Tampa General Hospital for 19 years. Mrs. Hodges was an avid golfer and bridge player. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 30, 2002 at St. John's Episcopal Church. The R.T. Rev. Calvin O. Schofield, Jr. will officiate. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. John's Episcopal Church, 902 S. Orleans, Tampa, FL 33606.

HUTCHINSON, Thomas C., 67, of Tampa, died Sept. 27, 2002. He is survived by his loving wife; two sons; a daughter; a sister; and seven grandchildren.

JACKSON, Jack `Jake`, died Sept. 25, 2002. He is survived by a wife and loving family. Services will be Oct. 1, at 11 a.m. at Abundant Life Refuge and Worship Tabernacle.

MALTZAHN, William, age 81, of Plant City, Florida passed away on September 26, 2002. Mr. Maltzahn was a member of Hope Lutheran Church, an Army veteran of World War II. He was awarded two Purple Hearts and several Service Medals. He is predeceased by his loving son, Robert G. Maltzahn; his mother and father, Mr. And Mrs. Gustave Maltzahn; and his dear sister, Helen Lovelady. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy of Plant City; son, William H. Maltzahn Jr. and his wife, Victoria of Hales Corners, Wisconsin; brother-in-law, John A. Gallas and his wife, Myrtle; three sisters, Ms. George Greigo (Shirley), Mrs. Loa Kiechbusch and Ms. Carol Raytar; several dear grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 2, 2002 from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. and services beginning at 2:00 p.m. at Hope Lutheran Church, with Reverend Dean Pfeffer officiating. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.

MARTINEZ, Andrew J.,age 84, of Tampa, passed away September 26, 2002. Born in Tampa, he was the eldest son of Tampa pioneers, Gregorio and Palmira Martinez. Andrew was a West Tampa native; a graduate of the University of Tampa; a founding member of the Mensa Society; a director of many fine theatrical productions; a generous supporter of the Spanish Lyric Theater; a charter member of the Tampa Arts Council; a founding member of the Tampa Historical Society; a member of the Centro Espanol de Tampa; and a premier floral designer. Andrew was a scholar, an artist and a poet. He was our brother, our uncle, our cousin and our friend. Surviors include his eight brothers and sisters, Matilda Martinez Garcia, Palmira M. Fernandez and her husband, Jack, Gregory L. Martinez, Zoraida M. Gullo, William J. Martinez and his wife, Elaine, Danilo C. Martinez and his wife, Doris, Hilda M. Tornillo and her husband, John, and Elvin L. Martinez and his wife, Sylvia; nieces, Janice Austin, Gwendolyn MacKinnon, Carlene Bellamy, Marsha Caray, Deborah Back, Patricia Tornillo, Viann Guzman, Lia Toledo, Sylvia Hasque and Danene Rice; nephews, Wayne Fernandez, Glenn Gullo, John Tornillo, Max Garcia, Jr., William J. Martinez, Jr., Andy Martinez, Vincent Tornillo, Gregg and Scott Martinez, Mark Tornillo and Elvin L. Martinez, Jr.; and 41 loving great-nieces and great-nephews. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the chapel of Gonzalez Funeral Home with Interment to follow in Centro Espanol Memorial Park. Pallbearers include his loving nephews. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at the chapel of GONZALEZ FUNERAL HOME

MAUND, Stephaine Elaine, three months, of Gibsonton, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 26, 2002. She is survived by her loving family.

NEUMANN, Marie, 80 of Tampa, passed away on Thursday, September 26, 2002. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ernest R. Neumann. She is survived by her sister, Joyce Valdez; sister-in-law, Alice Thomas; her adopted family, Mr. and Mrs. Ken Williams; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Neumann was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene and a Nursery Attendant at the church for over forty years. Funeral Services will be held at The First Church of the Nazarene, 5902 N. Himes Avenue, on Monday, September 30, 2002 at 3 p.m. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow at the Garden of Memories Cemetery.

RATLIFF, Mary Catherine `Cathy,` 63, entered into peace at her home in Lithia on September 27, 2002. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, and friend. She was predeceased by her parents, Judson and Mildred Francis. She will be deeply missed by her husband, Norman `Norm` Ratliff; son and daughter-in-law, Patrick and Carla Strickland; daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Jimmy Scanlon; son, Norm Ratliff; brothers, Rusty and Arthur Francis; sisters, Judy McClure and Becky Chastain; grandchildren, Lawrence and wife, Annie, Sebrenna and Tristen Strickland and Marissa Scanlon; and great-grandchild, Trevian Strickland. Visitation will be on Monday, September 30, 2002 from 6-8 p.m. with services to follow Tuesday, October 1, 2002 at 10 a.m., both at Hillsboro Memorial Funeral Home.

RIGGIO, Lily Valenti, age 91, passed away September 27, 2002 at Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center of Tampa. She was a native of Tampa and was predeceased by her husband, Vincenzo `Jimmy` Riggio. Survivors include her son, Frank J. Riggio and wife, Dale; daughters, Yvonne Rodriguez and husband, Gilbert and Patricia Garcia and husband, Emilio; sister, Evelyn Slater; brother, Sexton Valenti; grandsons, Frank `Rocky`, Rodney and Jimmy Riggio and Anthony Garcia; granddaughters, Rosalie Rodriguez Kadelak, Elizabeth Rodriguez, Stephanie Riggio Romano and Nicole Garcia; and great-grandchildren, Alyssa Lily and Reece Dale Riggio, Isabella Lourdes Garcia and Kendall Marie Romano. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, September 30, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. at Blount Curry & Roel Funeral Home, 4730 N. Armenia Ave., interment to follow at L' Unione Italiana Cemetery. Family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Flowers are accepted or contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.

ROGAT, Marie, 84, formerly of Plant City, passed away Friday, September 27, 2002 at her home in Sun City Center. Born in Brooklyn, New York she moved here from Garden City, Long Island in 1985. She was an active volunteer with The Spring of Tampa Bay, South Florida Baptist Hospital, and with Reach to Recovery. She was a member of Temple Schaarai Zedek. Survivors include her loving husband of 62 years, Stanley; her son, Albert; daughter, Judy Golland; four grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and two nieces. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 29 at Temple Schaarai Zedek. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to The Spring of Tampa Bay, 2807 35th Street North, Tampa.

STENHOUSE, Priscilla N., 85, of Sun City Center, passed away on Thursday, September 26, 2002. Born in Nantucket, Mass., she moved from Medford, Mass. in 1980. Preceded in death by her husband, Andrew; and daughter, Jeanne, she is survived by two daughters, Dianne Macon and Cynthia Hanson; a sister, Florence Johnson; a brother, John Neilson; and seven grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, October 2, 2002 at St. John the Divine Episcopal Church in Ruskin, Florida. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Lighthouse for the Blind, 1106 W. Platt Street, Tampa, FL 33606.

TAYLOR, Evelyn P., 80, passed away September 27, 2002. She is survived by two sons; two daughters; one step-daughter; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

VAUGHAN II, Guy R., 55, of Wimauma, passed away on Sept. 22, 2002. A resident of this area for 20 years, Mr. Vaughan was a Baptist and a member of the National Riflemen's Association. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, who served his country during the Vietnam Conflict. He is survived by his son, Guy R. Vaughan III; his daughters, Tina Marie Milstead and Pansy Lee Vaughan, all of Alexandriacity, Alabama; two sisters, Doris Jean O'Beirne and Dorothy O'Beirne; seven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Visitations will be held Monday from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. with services starting at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Hillsboro Memorial Gardens.

WADDELL, Jerry D., Sr, age 60, of West Bend, Wis., passed away on Friday morning, September, 27, 2002 at St. Joseph's Community Hospital in West Bend. He is survived by his devoted fiancee, Cheryl Weslager of West Bend. He was the beloved father of Jerry Jr. (Jill) Waddell, Kim (Edward) Ott, Kelly (Mark) Thielen and Kristi (Kevin) Moe; and devoted grandfather to nine grandchildren. He is also survived by his former wife, Suzanne Waddell. Funeral services will be Monday evening, September 30, 2002 in the Wilson Funeral Home, Racine, Wis., at 7 p.m. with visitation at the funeral home on Monday from 5-7 p.m. Friends and relatives may meet at the Wilson Funeral Home on Tuesday morning at 11 a.m. for the procession to West Lawn Memorial Park.

WAKEFIELD, Phyllis, 80, a longtime resident of Tampa, passed away Sunday, September 22, 2002. She is survived by her grandson, Steven Wakefield; granddaughter, Vicky Raines; two sisters, Vivian Grandy and Margrit Little; and four great-grandchildren. Mrs. Wakefield was a dedicated parishioner of Buchanan Baptist Church. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, October 1, 2002 at 10 a.m. at Buchanan Baptist Church, 808 W. Bearss Ave., interment will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 9 a.m. till service time.

WANDELL, James Edward, 64, of Valrico, died Sept. 24, 2002 at James A. Haley VA Hospital. He is a veteran of the US Army. James is survived by his daughters, Tammy Marie, Sandra Faye and Michelle Ann; son, James Edward II; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. A Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 1, 2002 from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home chapel. A Graveside Service will be held Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at Florida National Cemetery.

DeLONG, Harold R., 65, of Wesley Chapel, passed away October 5, 2002 in Tampa. Survived by his wife, Connie DeLong of Wesley Chapel; a son, Terry Magarra of Dearford, Mich.; several grandchildren; his mother-in-law, Shirley Wagner; and three sisters-in-law, all of Davenport, Iowa; and many dear and special friends. Harold was born May 31, 1937 in Pontiac, Mich., and came to the Wesley Chapel area 25 years ago from Michigan, and he was of the Lutheran faith.

She was born in Bolton, Mich., and had resided here for the past six years coming from Alpena, Mich. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Vincent dePaul Catholic Church, Holiday. She is survived by her husband, Wayne J.; seven children. Steven of Kalamazoo, Mich., Daniel and Andrew of Herron, Mich., Mark and Wayne Jr. of Norfolk Va., Gregory of Alpena, Mich., and Jayne Pahkotter of Holiday, Fla.; a sister, Josephine Weisineski of Posen, Mich.; two brothers, Edwin Kasubowski of Herron and Emil Kasubowski of Maple Ridge Township. Mich.; ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Interment will be in St. Rose Cemetery in Herron, Michigan.

He was a retired truck driver for a laundry service, and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He is survived by his daughter, Lois Coburn of New Port Richey; two grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

Survivors include a daughter, Bernice Gajdos of New Port Richey; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

GRIMM, Wayne F., 81, of Dade City died Sunday, Oct. 6, 2002 at Royal Oak Hospice Care Center in Dade City. Born in Ulysses, Nebraska he moved to this area 13 years ago from Nebraska. He attended St. Rita Catholic Church and served in the U.S Army during World War II. Mr. Grimm was a retired mechanic and a member of the American Legion Post 488. He is survived by his wife, Beatrice of Dade City; one son, Randy Grimm of Dade City; two sisters, Reva Soldano of New Jersey and Ardus Bennett of Omaha, Nebraska; and six grandchildren.

He was born in Newark, New Jersey and moved to New Port Richey from E. Hanover, N.J. in 1971. He was a retired grocery salesman, Navy Veteran of World War II, and of the Protestant faith. Survivors include son, James Hendrickson, Jr. of Longmont, Colo.; three daughters, Patricia E. McCarthy, of New Port Richey, Kathleen Staveley of Kinnelon, N.J., and Dawn Sliker of Newton, N.J.; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A graveside inurnment service will be Friday, Oct. 18, 2002 at 4 p.m. at Cycadia Cemetery.

He was born in Jamaica, N.Y. and came here five years ago from Northfield, Vt. He was a land surveyor. He was a Roman Catholic and a Marine Corps Korean War veteran. Survivors include his father, Francis Langerstedt; his wife, Ruth; a son, Richard Jr. of Northfield, Vt.; two brothers, James of Spokane, Wash., and Robert of Northfield. There are six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

LANDRY, Joseph Henry Andrew, 83, of Zephyrhills, passed away October 6, 2002 at his home. Survived by his wife of 63 years, Rena B. Thompson; a son, James Gerard of Rockfield, Ky.; two daughters, Mary Judith Sawyer of Heathsville, Va. and Jane Ann Beaudoin of Gonic, N.H.; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Arthur of Gorham, N.H. and Edmond of Lecanto, Fla.; and two sisters, Rose Pixley of Greensboro, N.C. and Margaret Thompson of Lincoln, N.H. A Memorial Service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, October 12, 2002 at the Tropical Acre Estates Community Hall. Joseph was born October 28, 1918 in Berlin, N.H., and was a long time resident of Lincoln, N.H. and Warehouse Point, Conn. He retired in 1981, and moved to Tropical Acre Estates in Zephyrhills in 1983. Joseph was a Catholic. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations, in memory of Joe, be sent to Hernando Pasco Hospice, Inc., 12107 Majestic Blvd, Hudson, FL 34667.

SHEPLER-KEANE, Lorraine H., 77, of New Port Richey passed away at Hernando-Pasco Hospice Care Center in New Port Richey. She came here 24 years ago from her native Chicago, Ill. She was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church, American Legion Paradise Post #79, and Tarpon Springs Moose Lodge. She was a homemaker. Survivors include two sons, Victor Shepler of Port Richey and Charles Shepler of New Port Richey; a daughter, Laura Livio of New Port Richey; a brother, Henry Gronczewski of Seminole, Fla.; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Thursday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral Mass is Friday at 10 a.m. at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church.
