Funeral services for Mr. A.C. "Pat" Reff, age 90, of 15935 Crestline Road, Fountain, Fla., who died Monday, Oct. 25, 1999 will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 28 at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church with Fr. William Brown officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens.

JULIA SMITH
Julia Smith, 90, of 914 East 9th Street, Panama City, Fla., died Thursday, Oct. 21, 1999 in a Pensacola Nursing Home. Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. today, Oct. 28 at Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church in Pensacola with Junior Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.

WILLIAM M. COWAN
Lt. Col. William M. Cowan, retired, U.S.A.F. of 638 Driftwood Drive, Lynn Haven, Fla., died Thursday, Oct. 28, 1999 at his home. He had been a resident of the area since 1972, coming here from Colorado Springs, Colo. He was Espicopalian by faith and served his country in the U.S. Air Force during World War II, the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam Era. Mr. Cowan was the past president of A.F.A., a Paul Harris Fellow in the Lynn Haven Rotary and past president, and former chief ground school instructor at Sowell Aviation. He is survived by his wife, John Ella Grigsby Cowan of Lynn Haven; his daughters: Patricia A. Yarborough and Mary Hill vanderLann, both of Lynn Haven, two sisters: Mary Hill Warner and Hanah Needon, both of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; grandchildren: Kenney Wallace, William Yarborough, Brian Yarborough, Kris vanderLaan, Rachael Yarborough and Lyndsey vanderLaan; and two great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 1, at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Bill Hunter officiating. Full military honors conducted by Tyndall Air Force Base. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to American Cancer Society, 2012 Lisenby Ave., Suite A, Panama City, Fla. 32405.

ROBERT LEE EXLEY
Mr. Robert Lee Exley, age 67, of 402 New York Ave., Lynn Haven, Fla., died Thursday, Oct. 28, 1999 in a local hospital. He was a native of Augusta, Ga., but had been a resident of Bay County for the past 32 years. He was co-owner of Fran's Travel, a decorated veteran of the Korean War serving with U.S. Army 3rd Airborne Rangers and a member of the V.F.W. Mr. Exley was also a member of Harry Jackson Masonic Lodge No. 314, the Shaddai Temple, the Moose Lodge, and the Elks. He retired from the FAA in 1979. He was preceded in death by his wife of 35 years, Fran W. Exley, and is survived by Clara Register, a life partner; his two daughters: Mrs. Kare Rector of Panama City Beach and Mrs. Ellyn Newgreen of Tallahassee; granddaughter, Keleigh Rector of Panama City Beach; a grandson, Austin Newgreen of Tallahassee; and a son-in-law, Terry Newgreen of Tallahasse. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 30, at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel. Entombment will follow in the Chapel of Love Mausoleum at Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery with Masonic Rites to be conducted by the Harry Jackson Lodge No. 314. The lodge will be open a hour prior to service time. Asked to served as active pallbearers are the Roadrunners of Shaddai Temple. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today, Oct. 29, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. In lieu of flower, donations may be made to Shaddai Crippled Childrens Fund.

CLARENCE ANGUS HAND
Mr. Clarence Angus Hand, 81, of Springfield, Fla., died Wednesday, Oct. 27, 1999 at his home. Born in Marianna, Fla., he moved here in 1950. He was a farmer, a member of Springfield Community Church and a member of the C.B. Club. Mr. Hand is preceded in death by his wife, Bessie Daniel Hand, and a son, Ellis Chester Hand. He is survived by one son, Clarence H. Hand and wife Lynda of Springfield, Fla.; three daughters: Wynell "Nell" Paul and husband Amos, Verna H. Gilver all of Springfield and Erline Long of Southport; one brother, Doug Hatcher of Houston, Texas ; 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and four step-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, Oct. 30, at 2 p.m. in Southerland Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Lester Whitehead officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home this evening from 6 to 8 p.m.

ALEX PALMAN KING
Mr. Alex Palman King, age 66, of 182 Comet Ave., Callaway, Fla., died Wednesday, Oct. 27, 1999 in a local hospital. He had been a lifelong resident of the area. Mr. King retired in 1993 from Stone Container. He was a member of the Springfield United Methodist Church and a member of the Quarter Century Society Inc. He was also an avid fisherman, hunter and gardener. Mr. King served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He is survived by his wife, Jackie S. King of Callaway, Fla.; sons: Timothy D. King and his wife Linda and Paul D. King and his wife Debbie, all of Parker, Fla., and Joel F. King and his wife Pam of Callaway, Fla.; a sister, Leanna Wagnerman and her husband Johnny of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; a brother, Phillip King of Millville, Fla.; and grandchildren: Michael King, Christopher King, Kristen King, Ashley M. King, Brooke N. King, Tyler P. King and Miles King. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 30, at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Fred Melvin officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are Mike Raney, David McMullon, Gus Wise, Keith Marshall, Joey Broxson, Bobby Hill, Jimmy Hill and Ronnie Hill. Honorary pallbearers will include: Sid Barfield, Harold Ethridge, Bert Gwaltney, Al Moore, J.L. Clanton, Ray Warren, Joe Taylor and Chester Fletcher and all past and present employees of the lab at Stone Container. ANNIE LOUISE KNIGHT
Mrs. Annie Louise Knight, 73, of 818 Mercedes Ave., died Friday, Oct. 22, 1999 in a local nursing facility. She was a native of Youngstown, Fla., but had been a longtime resident of Panama City. She attended elementary and senior high school in Bay County. As a School of Cosmetology, Florida A&M College graduate in 1945, upon her death, she had given some 50 years of dedication to this profession. She worked diligently and relentlessly. She was united in holy matrimony to Tance Edward Knight Sr. who preceded her in death on Feb. 12, 1988. She was a devoted and loving mother. She was held in high esteem by her friends because of her commitment and trustworthiness. At the age of four years old, she was led to Bethel A.M.E. Church overtown, and here she began her Christian walk. In later years, she served on Usher Board No. 1 the Laymen's Organization, and the Missionary Society as a member of Greater Bethel A.M.E. Church. She participated for 20 years in Canglelight Social and Service Club, either as president or as a member. She received many awards: the "50 Year Dedicated and Faithful Service Award" and the "Financial Support Appreciation Award for Homecoming" in 1991 from Greater Bethel A.M.E. Church and Candlelight's Best Ever Award in 1986. She leave to mourn her homegoing: daughters: Annie Jean (Alfonso) Richardson of Miami, Carolyn (K.C. Williams) of Panama City and Tampa, Joyce Knight of Miami and son, Tance Edward Knight Jr. of Panama City; step-daughter, Arletha (Emory) Lindsey of Englewood, N.J.; grandchildren: Wendelin Louise (Derrick) Anderson of Tampa and Angela Yvette Williams of Tampa; great-grandchildren: Lindsay, Shamaria and Joshua; devoted cousins: Robert Bryant of Panama City, Gwendolyn Meade and Lisa Bittings of New York City; aunts: Ruby Gayner, Beatrice Washington and Elnora Patrick; one sister-in-law, Thelma; two brothers-in-law: Ralph and Melvin; godchildren: Kevin and Kenya Randolph; longtime friends: Ms. Verdell Smith, Ms. Julia Donald, Ms. Vera Shamplain, Mr. Jeffrey Neal, Mr. Lynva Massleino Jr. and myriad of other family members and friends. Funeral services for Mrs. Knight will be held Saturday, Oct. 30, at 1 p.m. in Greater Bethel AME Church with the Rev. O.C. Williams, officiating. Interment will follow in Hillside Cemetery. Public visitation will begin this afternoon at the funeral home at 1 p.m. A family hour will be held in Battle Memorial Funeral Home Chapel from 6 to 7 p.m. The remains will lie in state one hour prior to services at the church. The family will receive friends at their residence, 818 Mercedes Ave.

ROBERT GORDON LLANOS
Mr. Robert Gordon Llanos, age 67, 131 Sun Lane, Panama City Beach, Fla., died Tuesday, Oct. 26, 1999 at a local hospital. He had been a resident of the area since 1994, moving here from Huntington Beach, Calif. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Mr. Llanos spent his retirement as an active volunteer for many organizations. He worked with Habitat for Humanity for five years and was involved in the construction of ten homes. He volunteered for the Council on Aging's Meals on Wheels Program, the St. Jude Association, Catholic Charities and the Junior Museum. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Flo Llanos of Panama City Beach, Fla.; daughters: Susan Galloway of San Diego, Calif., and Maria Llanos of Huntington Beach, Calif.; a son, Gordon Llanos and his wife Penny of Huntington Beach, Calif.; sisters: Theresa Wickham of Toronto, Canada, Jean Mew and her husband Freddie of Georgetown, Ontario, Jeannette Morgan and her husband Bill of Bramalea, Ontario, Margaret Ann Llanos of Ottawa, Canada, and Jennifer Llanos of Perth, Australia; brothers, Noel Llanos and his wife Eileen of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, and John Ritchie and his wife Gwen of Issaquah, Wash.; and four grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 30, at St. Dominic's Catholic Church with Fr. Marty Bratek officiating. Entombment will follow at Garden of Memories. Asked to serve as active pallbearers are: Marc Llanos, Noel Llanos, Gordon Llanos, Bill Morgan, Glen Leirer and John Hunyady. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today, Oct. 29, from 6 to 8 p.m. with a Rosary Service at 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Drawer 390, Panama City, FL 32402 or Habitat for Humanity, P.O. Box 408, Panama City, FL 32402.

Funeral services for Catherine Jones Paul, 85, of Panama City, who died Wednesday, Oct. 27, 1999 in a local nursing home, will be held today at 2 p.m. in Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. David Buchanan officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers are: William C. Creary III, R. Paul Napper, Gregory P. Creary, James L. Creary, Mark Campbell and Marko Wright. Honorary pallbearers are the Men's and Ladies Sunday School Classes of Advent Christian Church.
