James E. "Jim" Lewis, 79, of Sneads died Monday, Nov. 24, 2003, in Marianna.

He was a native of East Hickory, Pa. He retired from Youngstown Steel Mill in Indiana in 1985 as an overhead crane operator. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Sneads and a member of the Gee Masonic Lodge at Chattahoochee.

He is survived by: His wife, Dorothy H. Lewis of Sneads; three sons, Ernest Lewis of Valparaiso, Ind., Dale Knott of Jacksonville and John Nelson of Tallahassee; two daughters, Deborah Seamore of Roswell, Ga. and Frances Miller of West Columbia, S.C.; three brothers, Jack Lewis of California, Don Lewis and Bob Lewis, both of Sneads; one sister, Doris Lewis of Marianna; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be held Wednesday, Nov. 26, at 2 p.m. CST at James and Sikes Funeral Home Sneads Chapel with the Rev. Rusty Burleson officiating. Burial will be at Hillcrest Cemetery in Quincy with Masonic graveside rites.

The family will receive friends from 4 until 6 p.m. CST today, Tuesday, Nov. 25, at the funeral home.

Coral Smith Wynn, 98, slipped peacefully into the arms of our Lord Saturday, Nov. 22, 2003, after a long and healthy life.

Born in Marianna Sept. 17, 1905, she had resided in Coral Gables since 1945.

She was the wife of the late Judge John C. Wynn, and was preceded in death by her son, John C. Wynn Jr.

She is survived by: Her loving daughter, Beverly Wynn Bua of Miami; devoted granddaughters, Jennifer Leigh Moran and her husband Jason of Aurora, Colo., and Miranda Wynn Perez and her husband Edward of Ft. Lauderdale; stepson, Milton G. Wynn and his wife Joanne; and nephew, John Milton V and his wife Alma of Marianna.

A memorial service will be held at St. Lukes Episcopal Church in Marianna at a later date.

James Earl Lewis, 79, of Sneads died Monday, Nov. 24, 2003, in Marianna.

The funeral will be held today, Wednesday, Nov. 26, at 2 p.m. CST at James and Sikes Funeral Home Sneads Chapel with burial at Hillcrest Cemetery in Quincy.

John Archie McNeill, 79, died March 18, 2003.

He was born in the Alliance community north of Altha and lived there for over 20 years. He was retired from the U.S. Army and also from the U.S. Postal Service. He was the son of Neil Archie and Susie McNeill.

He is survived by: His wife, Ruby Hall McNeill of Ocala; one son, John McNeill; three daughters, Shirley Cooley, Tammy Parker, and Lisa McNeill; three sisters, Sybil Parish, Thelma Kittrell, and Adell Williams; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A memorial service and burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 28, at Mount Olive Cemetery in Altha.

Hall Funeral Home of Altha is in charge of the arrangements.

Nathaniel C. Koonce Sr., 70, of Sneads died Friday, Nov. 21, 2003.

He was a native of Sneads.

He is survived by: His wife, Rosa Lee Koonce of Miami; a son, Nathaniel C. Koonce Jr. (Kathy) of Coral Springs; a daughter, Karen Wilcox (R.C.) of Miami; five grandchildren; three brothers, Clinton Thomas (Etta) of Orlando, Iseral Minor and Charles Minor of Miami; and four sisters, Marie Monroe, and Wilhelmina Rose, both of Sneads, Hattie Sykes (Isiah) of Greenwood, and Esther Bowers (Milford) of Queens, N.Y.

The funeral will be held Saturday, Nov. 29, at 1 p.m. at the Little Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Sneads with the Rev. E. Bowers officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will lie at the church one hour prior to the funeral.

Vann Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Lois Nancy Baggett Murphy, 85, of the Alliance community died Sunday, Nov. 30, 2003, at Jackson Hospital after a brief illness.

She was preceded in death by: Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Baggett; her husband, William Murphy; her sister, Esther Dupree; her brother, Otio Baggett; her daughter, Floy Ann Waldorff; and her grandson, Michael Murphy.

He is survived by: two sons, J.T. Murphy and his wife Carolyn of Fort Walton Beach, and Billy Murphy and his wife Vickie of Lynn Haven; one sister, Earlene Johns of Brooksville; one son-in-law, George Waldorff of Altha; five grandchildren, Michelle McCann and her husband Greg of Fort Walton Beach, Ricky Carter and his wife Sharon of Wewa, Anjie George and her husband Jamie of Alliance, Shannon Murphy of New Hope, and Nancy Murphy of Marianna; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She leaves behind a legacy of love for her family, friends and her church. She will be greatly missed.

The funeral will be held today, Wednesday, Dec. 3, at Hall Funeral Home in Altha with the Rev. James E. Roberts officiating. Burial will be in Mount Olive Cemetery with Hall Funeral Home directing.

The family received friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 2, at the funeral home.

The family would like to wish a very heart felt thank-you to the staff of the Chipola Nursing Pavilion for the loving care shown to Mrs. Murphy over the last few years of her life.

Nella Perkins Lipford, 58, of Marianna died Sunday, Nov. 30, 2003, at the Medical Center in Dothan.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 3, at Maddox Chapel. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery in Bascom with James and Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel of Marianna directing.

Jewell L. Conrad Green of Sneads and born in Jackson County on Aug. 4, 1918, died Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2003, in Hutchington, Kan.

Arrangements will be announced by James and Sikes Funeral Home Sneads Chapel.

Eunice A. Brymer, 91, of Marianna died Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2003, at Jackson Memorial Hospital following a brief illness.

She was born Abbygail Eunice Moody on May 10, 1912 in Dover, N.H. to Wilbur and Edith Moody, and lived in St. Petersburg for over 70 years before moving to Marianna in April 2000. She was a loving and caring wife, homemaker, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her husband John of 42 years.

She is survived by: Four children including two sons, George Schenck and his wife Patsy of Grand Ridge and Ron Schenck and his wife Anne of Marianna, and two daughters, Melody Grice and her husband Rod of Aurora, Colo. and Julie Popick and her husband Edward of Wellington; 12 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

To honor her life, a private family service was held at her home. Arrangements were made with the National Cremation Society.

Earl Jackson Phelps, 83, of Marianna died Sunday, Nov. 30, 2003, at the Jackson County Convalescent Center.

He was born in Bunker Hill, Ind. He was an Army Air Corp. veteran of World War II. He moved to Marianna in 1953 where he was a home builder and retired from Jackson County as the building official. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Marianna.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna Phelps and daughter, Donna Martin.

He is survived by: Two daughters, Deborah Dannels and her husband Richard of Marianna and their two sons, Wade and Drew, and Dawn Edwards and her husband Fuzzy of Bristol and their two children, Holli and Tim; one son, Scott Phelps and his wife Pamela of Marianna and their two sons, Jay and Lyle; and the daughter of the late Donna Martin, Heidi Hermann; two sisters, Garnet Christman and her husband Jim of Nokomis, and Linda Maugans of Kokomo, Ind.; and three great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was held at Trinity Baptist Church in Marianna at 6 p.m. CST on Tuesday, Dec. 2.

Ann M. Whiteaker, 60, of Marianna died Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2003, in Jackson Hospital.

Arrangements will be announced by James and Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel.

Johnny Lee Williams, 40, of Greenwood died Sunday, Nov. 30, 2003.

He is survived by: His wife, Carrie Williams of Greenwood; three daughters, Katrina and Shonesia Williams of Greenwood and Ericka Williams of Cottondale; mother, Caretha Williams of Greenwood; four sisters, Deloris Peterson of Marianna, Wanda Williams and Sylvia Williams, both of Tallahassee, and Rose Godwin of Greenwood; five brothers, Lester Tinsley of Marianna, Lester Williams Jr. of Oak Grove, Edward Williams of Marianna, Tommy Williams of Tampa, and Tyrone Williams of Greenwood; and grandmother, Ethel Hartsfield of Greenwood.

The funeral will be held Saturday, Dec. 6, at 1 p.m. at the Second West Baptist Association Church with the Revs. W. McCallister, Freddie Roulhac, R. Dickens, and L.V. Farmer officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The body will lie at the church one hour prior to the funeral.

Vann Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Cierra Renee Williams, one-month old infant daughter of Curtis and Jennifer Williams of Graceville, died Monday, Dec. 1, 2003, in the UAB Hospital in Birmingham.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, at McKinnie Funeral Home Chapel with Linward Dickens officiating. Memorialization will be by cremation.

Renner Wilks Johnson, 42, of Orlando and formerly of Marianna died Monday, Dec. 1, 2003, in the Florida Hospital East in Orlando.

She is survived by: a son, Julian Bernard Johnson Jr. of Clarksville, Tenn.; her mother, Minister Rovena B. Bryant of Marianna; six sisters, Linda B. Franklin of Cottondale, Sheila J. Williams of Newark, N.J., Sheryln L. Nelson of Irvington, N.J., Vivian Q. White of Linden, N.J., Forlescer "Lisa" Clark and her husband Robert of Orlando, and Vernender Wilks of Marietta, Ga.; two brothers, Henry White Jr. and his wife Dorothy of Minneapolis, Minn., and Randy F. White and his wife Wanda of Newark, N.J.; one step-brother, Gray Gammons and his wife Ann of Cottondale; grandmother, Florence J. Bellamy of Marianna; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, at McKinnie Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Margaret Robinson officiating. Burial will be in Orange Hill Cemetery in Marianna with McKinnie Funeral Home of Campbellton directing.

Visitation will be today, Friday, Dec. 5, from 5 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home. The family will receive friends at the home of Minister Rovena Bryant, 4261 Clay Street in Marianna.

Jewell L. Conrad Green of Sneads died Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2003, in Kansas.

She was born in Jackson County on Aug. 4, 1918 and retired as a psychiatric aid from Florida State Hospital. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Sneads. She loved her family, friends, cooking and gardening.

She was preceded in death by: Her husband, Thomas D. (Josh) Green; a daughter, Peggy Green Emmons; her father and mother, Joe and Lugene Conrad; six sisters, Lois Powell, Betty Barrentine, Lestine Hall, Ollie Hamilton, Edith Crowder and Homsey Hornsby; and four brothers, Collis, Melvin, R.T. and James Conrad.

She is survived by: Three daughters, Becki McMahon and her husband Ed of Tallahassee, Robbie Fay Edwards and her husband Guy of Sneads, and Judy Howard and her husband Dennis of Arlington, Kan.; seven grandchildren, Ricky Edwards, Mark Edwards and Jennifer Dudley, all of Sneads, Melissa Ingram of Tallahassee, Michael Emmons of Apex, N.C. Shane Wynn of Jacksonville and Mitch Howard of Arlington, Kan.; six great-grandchildren, Josh and Jessica Dudley, Travis and Amber Edwards, and Chelsa and Eli Ingram; one sister, Treaster Hussey of Marianna; two brothers, Hubert Conrad and his wife Betty of Augusta, Ga. and Luther Conrad and his wife Elizabeth of Malone; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. CST Saturday, Dec. 6, at the First United Methodist Church in Sneads with the Rev. Rusty Burleson officiating. Burial will be in Pope Cemetery with James and Sikes Funeral Home Sneads Chapel directing.

The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. CST today, Friday, at the funeral home.
