Kaye' Steele
Kaye' Steele, age 71, of McDonough, Georgia died March 23, 2007. Mrs. Steele was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the daughter of the late Kenneth and Klara Baldwin. She retired from J.C. Penney as a supervisor with 25 years of loyal service . She enjoyed gardening, reading, and especially video gaming. She lived for her family whom she loved dearly. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Hughe Walter Schmitt; daughter, Patricia Martin; and husband, William Lawrence Steele.
She is survived by her daughters, Pamala Bean of Hanson, Kentucky, Joan Heard of Orange Park, Florida, Carol Lewis of McDonough; son, Kenneth Schmitt; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister, Juanice Krummel of St. Louis, Missouri; and her faithful, four-legged companion, “Buttons.”
Services will be held Wednesday, March 28 at 12:00 p.m. at Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors. Interment will follow at Fairview Memorial Gardens. Those who wish may sign the on-line guest registry at www.cannon-cleveland.com. Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements.

Palmer T. Higgins
Palmer T. Higgins, age 65, of Covington, Georgia died March 13, 2007. Mr. Higgins was born in Columbus, the son of the late Palmer Tilton and Fanilu Patterson Higgins, Sr. He was an active member of the Zion Hill Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and was the treasurer of missions. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and was retired from the U.S. Army Corps Of Engineers. He was both a Falcons and a Braves fan. Most important to him was family; he was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
He is survived by his wife, Retta Higgins of Covington; daughter and son-in-law, April and Neil Burnfin; and grandchildren, Jackson Palmer Burnfin and Jenna Leigh Burnfin, all of McDonough.
Services were held March 17 in the chapel of Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors, with Rev. Martin Jones officiating. Interment Riverside Cemetery in Macon. Those who wish may sign the on-line guest registry at www.cannon-cleveland.com. Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements.

Hazel Shelley
Hazel Shelley, age 86, of Stockbridge, Georgia died March 13, 2007. Mrs. Shelley was born in Rome, the daughter of the late George Abbott and Zula Brunette Harper Gowan. She was preceded in death by her sons, Danny Davis and Collis Davis.
She is survived by her daughters, Doreen Entrekin of Stockbridge, Dale Potts, and Linda McDonald, both of McDonough; sons, Herb Davis of Wetumka, Alabama, Howard Davis of Ellenwood, Chuck Shelley of Tucker, Grover Davis of McDonough, Kerry Shelley of Snellville; brothers, Richard Gowan of College Park, Benny Gowan of Hogansville, Jerry Gowan?of Newnan, Donnie Gowan of Washington ; sister, Marie Wyatt of Buckhead; 18 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Services were held March 16 in the chapel of Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors, with Pastor Butch Entrekin officiating. Interment Floral Hills Memory Gardens in Tucker. Chris Whisnant
Chris Whisnant, age 70, of Forest Park, Georgia died March 14, 2007. Mrs. Whisnant was born in Shelby, North Carolina, the dauughter of the late Antonio and Carmella Dimeo Izzi. She was very involved with Children's Miracle Network and enjoyed fishing. She was a sales associate for 18 years with Wal-Mart. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Wayne Whisnant.
She is survived by her sons, Tim Whisnant of Jackson, Jeff Whisnant of Stockbridge, Chris Whisnant of Jackson, Dana Whisnant of Forest Park; daughter, Teri Gallagher?of Tampa, Florida; twelve grandchildren; three great- grandchildren; brother, Tony Izzi; and sisters, Pauline Glover, and Catherine McArthur, all of North Carolina.
Services were held March 17 in the chapel of Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors, with Pastor Terrel Hopkins officiating. Interment Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Dorothy Mayer
Dorothy "MA" Mayer, age 71, of Jonesboro, Georgia died March 13, 2007. Mrs. Mayer was born in Old Hickory, Tennessee, the daughter of the late Oscar and Lottie Jewel Blair. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Betty Jean Anderson. She enjoyed antiques, flowers, gardening, and bingo. She was a true Southern lady who loved to talk and never met a stranger. She liked traveling to the beaches and mountains. But most important to her was her family, especially her grandsons.
She is survived by her husband, Harvey Mayer of Jonesboro; daughters, Cindy (Duane) Smith of Hampton, Lisa (Jeff) Hall of Jonesboro; grandsons, Oscar (Rebecca) Smith, Derick Smith, Miles Mabros; and sister, Helen Kennedy of Clarksville, Tennessee.
Services were held March 15 in the chapel of Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors, with Dr. Tim Dowdy and Pastor Donna Smith, sister to Harvey Mayer, officiating. Samuel Edgar Austin
Samuel “Sam” Edgar Austin, age 64, of Stockbridge, Georgia died March 14, 2007. Mr. Austin was born in Henry County, the son of the late Annie Olive Whitaker and Samuel Bentley Austin. He was a member of Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church, owned and operated his own insulation company, and served his country in the U.S. Marines from 1963 until 1967. Sam enjoyed his family, fishing and the “Ola Town Meeting .”
He is survived by his wife, Patsy Taylor Austin of Stockbridge; children, Tina and Chris Cathcart of Stockbridge, Tammy and Greg Bishop of McDonough, Tiffany and Brian Pugh of Covington; grandchildren, Cody Bishop, Ryan Cathcart, Taylor Bishop, Christina Cathcart, Jacob Pugh, Zachary Pugh; sister, Annette Pruitt of McDonough; brothers, Jimmy Austin of McDonough, Donald Austin and Larry Austin, both of Locust Grove; several nieces and nephews.
Services were held March 17 in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home with Rev. Kenneth Taylor officiating. Interment Lorraine Assembly of God Cemetery in McDonough. Haisten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

David Gregory Hayes
David Gregory Hayes, age 58, of Locust Grove, Georgia died February 5, 2007. Mr. Hayes was born February 18, 1948 in Fulton County the son of the late Vicie Mae Barrett and Jesse Houston Hayes. He retired from the State of Georgia in the Labor Department for 34 years of service. Before becoming disabled he enjoyed playing pool, fishing and bowling.
He is survived by his loving wife, Linda Hayes of Locust Grove; children, Kimberly and Jim Snowden, and Kelly and Karen Hayes, all of Locust Grove; grandchildren, Kody, Kaitlyn, Jack, Lindsey, and Clarissa; brothers, Don Hayes of Forest Park and Roy Hayes of Connecticut; nieces and nephews.
Services were held February 8 in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home, with Rev. Howard Perkins officiating. Haisten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Frances Harvill
Frances Harvill, age 74, of McDonough, Georgia died February 25, 2007. Mrs. Harvill was born in McKenzie, Alabama, the daughter of the late Gushion and Viola Davis Hallford. She was a strong family woman; she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a member of Peoples Baptist Church and enjoyed bowling, baseball, and was a manager of a girls softball team for many years. She also enjoyed traveling with her brother and sister-in-law, Mark and Mary Alice, across the United States.
She is survived by her husband, Johnnie Joseph Harvill; children, Diane Harvill, Betty Abercrombie, and John Harvill, all of McDonough; brothers, Mark Hallford of Powder Springs, Pierce Hallford of Pensacola, Florida, Melvin Hallford of Georgiana, Alabama, Lamar Hallford of Greenville, Alabama; sisters, Donnette Lurie of Birmingham, Alabama, Doris Mitchell of McKenzie, Alabama, Callie Gibson of Newnan, Peggy Cravey of Cordele, Dean Menchew of Bayminnette, Alabama; grandchildren, Chris and Jessica Abercrombie and John Harvill.

Shirley Bussey
Shirley Bussey, age 77, of Stockbridge, Georgia died February 25, 2007. Mrs. Bussey was born in Georgia on January 27, 1930, the daughter of the late Marvin and Iva Allen Latham. She was a very even-tempered and forgiving person. She enjoyed yard sales, playing bingo, and would take strangers for free. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Tommy Bussey; and son, Mark Bussey.
She is survived by her children, Tommy (Linda) Bussey of Covington, Sam (Ann) Bussey?of Temple, Johnny Egbert “Bert” (JoBeth) Bussey of Texas , Sid (Sue) Bussey of White Plains, Wesley (Glynis) Bussey of McDonough, Randy Bussey of Stockbridge, David Bussey of Covington; 21 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and sister, Iva Barnett of North Georgia.
