DONALD W. MIXER

BLOOMFIELD - DONALD W. MIXER, age 82 of Bloomfield died August 26, 2007 at the Bloomfield Care Center. He was born icon February 7, 1925 in Hannibal, Missouri to Clarence J. and Marie Mason Mixer. He married icon Helen L. Sparks June 7, 1949 in Quincy, Illinois. He was a foreman for Northeast Power and Electric. He was a member of the Bloomfield United Methodist Church, and was very active in the Boy Scouts.

He is survived by his wife, Helen Mixer of Memphis, Missouri; a son Dennis Mixer of Clintwood, Virginia and 3 step grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Terry Mixer and 2 sisters Juanita Rhodes and Alberta Dunn.

Graveside services and burial of cremains will be at 10:00 AM Saturday September 1, 2007 at the IOOF Cemetery in Bloomfield, Iowa with Pastor Kevin Gingerich officiating. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established to the Bloomfield United Methodist Church, and may be sent to Wagler Funeral Home 304 W. Jefferson St. Bloomfield, Iowa 52537.

CLEO MARIE MURRELL CAMPBELL

BLOOMFIELD - CLEO MARIE MURRELL CAMPBELL, age 93 of Bloomfield died August 15, 2007 at the Davis County Hospital Long Term Care in Bloomfield. She was born icon July 4, 1914 in Davis County, Iowa to John William and Frances Neoma Horn Nelson. She married icon Evans Murrell. He preceded her in death February 20, 1972. She married icon Orville Campbell July 9, 1982 in Bloomfield, Iowa. She was a lifetime resident of Davis County and was a homemaker and a housekeeper at the Bloomfield Care Center for several years. She was affiliated with the Church of Christ in Bloomfield.

She is survived by her husband; 2 sons John Murrell of Bloomfield and Jerry Murrell of Burlington, Iowa; 2 daughters Iris Hepker of Bloomfield and Judy Abbott of Hawarden, Iowa; a stepson Michael Campbell of Bloomfield; a stepdaughter Sherry Hines of LuRay, Missouri; 9 grandchildren; 5 step grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren and 2 step great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a step daughter Peggy Roberts; a granddaughter and 2 sisters Norene Lamb and Pauline Tadlock.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 am Saturday August 18, 2007 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Ed Veatch officiating. Burial will be in the West Grove Cemetery in West Grove, Iowa. Visitation will begin at 9:00 am Friday with the family present from 6:30-8:00 pm. A memorial has been established to the Long Term Care Aviary.

MIRIAM “MICKEY” ANDERSON

BLOOMFIELD - MIRIAM “MICKEY” ANDERSON, age 93 of Bloomfield died August 6, 2007 at the Bloomfield Care Center. She was born icon April 2, 1914 in Coal City, Iowa to Dick and Addie Guinn Thompson. She married icon A.A. Bill Anderson April 18, 1940 in Bloomfield, Iowa. He preceded her in death June 16, 1997. She was a homemaker and former member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

She is survived by a daughter Carolyn (Gary) Morrison of Ottumwa, Iowa and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; 3 brothers Ernest, Ira and Joe Thompson and a sister Eva Sundermeyer.

The body has been cremated. Burial of the cremains will be in the IOOF Cemetery in Bloomfield, Iowa. Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield is in charge of the arrangements.

C. PEARL FOSTER

BLOOMFIELD - C. PEARL FOSTER, age 94 of Bloomfield died August 5, 2007 at the Bloomfield Care Center. He was born icon April 20, 1913 in Davis County, Iowa to Francis Clarence and Effie Emaline Henderson Foster. He was a lifetime resident of Davis County.

He is survived by a sister Velma Martin of Ozark, Missouri.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Graveside services will be at 10:00 am Wednesday August 8, 2007 at the West Grove Cemetery in West Grove, Iowa with Rev. Richard Friend officiating. Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield is in charge of the arrangements.

DEWEY PURL GRINSTEAD

OTTUMWA - DEWEY PURL GRINSTEAD, age 94 of Ottumwa died July 31, 2007 at the Ridgewood Nursing and Rehab Center in Ottumwa. He was born icon May 4, 1913 in Davis County, Iowa to Freeman and Mae Lawson Grinstead. He married icon Marguerite Grant April 16, 1932 in Lancaster, Missouri. She preceded him in death January 24, 2003. He was a resident of Ottumwa most of his life and worked at John Morrell & Company for 32 years. He was a member of the Dunnville Baptist Church.

He is survived by a daughter in law Sandra Grinstead Cook of Ottumwa, Iowa; 4 grandchildren Rusty Grinstead, Cody Kerby and Jody Allen all of Bloomfield, Iowa and Rick Grinstead of Pulaski, Iowa; 8 great grandchildren and 9 great great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; a son Dewey Grinstead, Jr.; 3 sisters Hazel Grinstead, Alma Pilcher and Ruth Dooley and 3 brothers Glen, Beryl and Clarence Grinstead.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 am Saturday August 4, 2007 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield, Iowa with Rev. Marvin Martin officiating. Burial will be in the IOOF Cemetery in Bloomfield, Iowa. Visitation will begin at 9:00 am Friday with the family present from 7:00-8:00 pm. Memorials have been established to the Dunnville Baptist Church and Hospice, Inc.

WALTER LEE MORTON

PULASKI - WALTER LEE MORTON, age 70 of rural Pulaski, Iowa died July 30, 2007 at Hospice House in Ottumwa. He was born icon June 13, 1937 in Ottumwa, Iowa to Irl and Kate Sommer Morton. He married icon Martha Robinson April 27, 1958 in Cantril, Iowa. He served in the United States Army Reserves. He lived in Davis County his lifetime and was a farmer. He was a member of the Milton Christian Church.

He is survived by his wife; 2 sons Sergeant 1st Class Nathaniel Morton serving in Kuwait and Robert Morton of Story City, Iowa; 6 grandchildren; a great granddaughter; a brother Allan Morton of Phoenix, Arizona and a sister Virginia Morton of Phoenix, Arizona.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter Tina Morton and a brother Bill Morton.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 am Friday August 3, 2007 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Rev. Justin DeVries officiating. Burial will be in the Pulaski Cemetery in Pulaski, Iowa. Visitation will begin at 9:00 am Thursday with the family present from 6:00-7:30 pm. Memorials have been established to Hospice, Inc. and the Milton Christian Church.

DAISY IRENE SELIX

OTTUMWA - DAISY IRENE SELIX, age 92 of Anamosa, Iowa and former Ottumwa resident died July 28, 2007 at the Anamosa Care Center in Anamosa, Iowa. She was born icon March 22, 1915 in Davis County, Iowa to John F. and Sarah E. Bridgman Hopkins. She married icon Howard H. Selix July 20, 1935 in Linneus, Missouri. He preceded her in death August 9, 2001. She was a homemaker and resident of Anamosa since 2003. She was a member of the Ottumwa Baptist Temple.

She is survived by a son Dwayne (Twylla) Selix of Prattville, Alabama; 2 daughters Sarah (Paul) Albright of Anamosa, Iowa and Cheryl (Ernie) Medlin of Omaha, Nebraska; 9 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a daughter Sharon Selix; 6 brothers Nathan, Sherman, Ernest, Milo, Carl and Everett Hopkins and 3 sisters Dovie Bailey, Letha Smith and Zella Garner.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 am Tuesday July 31, 2007 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Pastor Randy Miller officiating. Burial will be in the Taylor Cemetery in Appanoose County, Iowa. Visitation will begin at 9:00 am Monday July 30, 2007 with the family present from 7:00-8:00 pm. A memorial has been established to her church.

MELBA NIXON

BLOOMFIELD - MELBA NIXON, age 66 of Bloomfield, Iowa and former Fairfield resident died July 23, 2007 at Davis Center in Davis County, Iowa. She was born icon November 1, 1940 to Vern and Mary Ann Nixon.

She is survived by 2 brothers Wayne Nixon of Des Moines, Iowa and Gary Nixon of Rochester, Minnesota; 2 sisters Donna Leport of Des Moines, Iowa and Mary Harve of New York and a special friend Karen Vilmont of Washington, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

The body has been cremated. Services will be held at a later date. Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield is in charge of the arrangements.

GERALD LEE MILLER

BLOOMFIELD - GERALD LEE MILLER, age 70 of Bloomfield slipped peacefully away to join his Heavenly Father on Monday, July 9, 2007 at Hospice House in Ottumwa, with his family by his side.

Gerald was born icon to Rex A. and Elsie Breckenridge Miller in Ottumwa, Iowa on January 20, 1937. He married icon JoAnn (Joy) Gilfillan on September 7, 1963 in Lancaster, Missouri. He was in the United States Navy, serving in Japan from 1955 to 1962. Gerald farmed for a few years, then worked as a machinist until his retirement in 1998.

He attended the Bloomfield United Methodist Church. He did volunteer work at the Davis County Hospital Long Term Care. Many friends who knew him felt him to be an extremely outgoing and friendly person, always ready to help others. He worked in his beautiful rose and flower gardens for his enjoyment and the enjoyment of others.

He is survived by his wife; a son William (Becky) Miller of Centerville, Iowa and a daughter Cynthia Miller of St. Joseph, Missouri; a sister Penny Miller and family of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; a sister-in-law Joan Miller and family of the Overland Park, Kansas area and three beloved grandchildren Christian of North Sioux City, South Dakota and Mathew and Jillian of Eddyville, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Rex Duane Miller.

He has been cremated. A celebration of life has been set for Monday, July 16, 2007 at 1:00 pm at the Bloomfield United Methodist Church with Pastor Kevin Gingerich officiating. In lieu of flowers memorials have been established to the Bloomfield Public Library, the Long Term Care at the Davis County Hospital or Hospice, Inc. Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield is in charge of arrangements.

HENRY J. HOCHSTEDLER

BLOOMFIELD - HENRY J. HOCHSTEDLER, age 68 of rural Bloomfield died June 28, 2007 at his home. He was born icon February 6, 1939 in Arthur, Illinois to John and Lena Mast Hochstedler. He married icon Fannie Marie Gingerich September 22, 1959 in Arthur, Illinois. He had been a resident of Davis County since 1974 and was a harness maker. He was a member of the Old Order Amish.

He is survived by his wife; 4 sons Nathan of Garnett, Kansas, Paul and Chris both of Bloomfield and David of Wheatland, Missouri; 2 daughters Magdalena Yoder of Dunnegun, Missouri and Leah Anna Hochstedler of Bloomfield; 14 grandchildren; a brother Omar Hochstedler of Arthur, Illinois and 5 sisters Mattie, Fannie, Amanda and Alta Hochstedler all of Kalona, Iowa and Anna Gingerich of Bloomfield.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be at 9:00 am Sunday July 1, 2007 at the Ervin Mast Sawmill 15010 220th St. Bloomfield, Iowa with the Minister in Charge Bishop David Wayne Schrock officiating. Burial will be in the Echo Ridge Cemetery north of West Grove, Iowa. Visitation will be Friday and Saturday at 15010 220th St. Bloomfield, Iowa. Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield is assisting the family.
