Roy `Shorty' Kuhn
Roy ``Shorty" Kuhn, 71, Silvis, passed away Tuesday, April 17, 2001, at his home.

Services will be 7 p.m. Friday at Esterdahl Mortuary Ltd., 1216 5th Ave., Moline. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service. Interment is to be private. Memorials may be made to TLC (The Literacy Connection) for students at Washington Elementary School in Moline.

Roy was born Nov. 8, 1929, in Swain, Ark., the son of Verol and Stella Young Kuhn. He married Velma Freeze Sept. 21, 1949, in Springfield, Mo.

He owned and operated Roy's Welding & Trailer Repair from 1960 to 1979, while also working for John Deere Plow & Planter in Moline, where he retired in 1973.

Roy loved his grandchildren and adored his great-grandchildren. He also enjoyed gardening and was always considered a farmer at heart.

Survivors (and spouses) include his wife, Velma; daughters, Joyce (Ralph) Dobbins, Rapids City, Carol (Billie) Kahl, Silvis, and Jeanna (Bill) Bomar, Moline; a son, Ronald Kuhn, Illinois City; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; sisters, Pearl (Dean) Copeland, East Moline, and Betty (Dale) King, Ashgrove, Mo.; and a brother, Cecil ``Pete" Kuhn (Midge), Bolivar, Mo. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Eileen Clark, and brother, Duster Kuhn.

Deborah Williams
Deborah C. Williams, 40, of Coal Valley, died April 15, 2001, at Trinity Medical Center, Rock Island.

Services are 11 a.m. Friday at Esterdahl Mortuary Ltd., 1216 5th Ave., Moline. Visitation is one hour prior to the service.

She was born Nov. 19, 1960, to Donald C. and Ida Ferrerri Griffith. She married Michael Williams Dec. 3, 1984.

Survivors include her mother, Frostproof, Fla.; husband, Rock Island; son, Chad Williams, Georgia; daughter, April Williams, Iowa; sister, Denice Morehead, Lake City, Minn.; and brothers, Rick Griffith, Davenport, Danny Griffith, Lake Mary, Fla.

J. Donald Bielema
J. Donald Bielema, 81, Fulton, died Tuesday, April 17, 2001, at home.

Services are 10 a.m. Friday at Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home, Fulton. Interment is in Oak Hill cemetery , Mount Carroll, Ill. Visitation is 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

He was born Feb. 29, 1920. He married Ella Mae Huizenga in 1948. She died in 1988. He married Esther Barsema in 1990.

Survivors include his wife; daughters, Judy Eaton, Mount Carroll, Cindy Beck, Savanna, Ill.; son, David Bielema, Mount Carroll; stepdaughter, Marcia Renkes, Morrison; stepson, Dale Wiersema, Minneapolis, Minn.; seven grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; two sisters; and three brothers.

Paul Devor
Paul Allen Devor, 60, Kewanee, died Tuesday, April 17, 2001, at St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria.

A memorial service is 2 p.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church, Kewanee. A private family inurnment will be at a later date. Visitation will follow the service at the church.

Mr. Devor was born April 21, 1940, to Lester and Olive (Crocker) Devor. He married Betty DeWerff Aug. 5, 1962.

Survivors (and spouses) include his wife; daughters, Penny (Scott) Wesson, Peoria, Christine (Curt) Reeves, Kewanee; son, Timothy Devor, Iowa City; grandchildren, Sarah and Ryan Reeves, Jake and Zachary Wesson; sisters, Peggy Mitchell, Memphis, Tenn., Dorothy Tucker, Odin, Ill.; and brothers, Roy (Cheri) Devor, Obert, Neb., Harold Dee Devor, Memphis, David (Pam) Devor, Kell, Ill.

Phyllis Foster
Graveside services for Phyllis I. Foster, 74, Preemption, are 2 p.m. Saturday at Preemption cemetery . Trimble Funeral Home, Aledo, is in charge of arrangements.

She died Feb. 21, 2001, in Peoria.

Survivors include daughters, Rita Bird, Seaton, and Rose McAlister, Palmyra, Mo.; sons, Russell, Viola, and Rodney, Cedar Rapids; a sister, Bernyce Hurstrom, Aledo; and brothers, Clyde McMeekan, Matherville, and Vernon McMeekan, Peoria.

Catherine Gabrilska
Catherine S. Gabrilska, 52, of Keithsburg, died Tuesday, April 17, 2001, at Trinity Medical Center, Rock Island.

The body was cremated. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Fippinger Funeral Home, Aledo, is handling arrangements.

She was born Feb. 27, 1949, in Keithsburg, to Louis and Donna Garner Munson. She attended the Grant and Woodrow Schools in Sioux City, Iowa, and married Ronald G. Gabrilska Sr. in South Sioux, Neb. He died June 14, 1992.

She was employed in several different capacities for area companies and was a homemaker.

Survivors include sons, Ronald G. Jr. of Keithsburg and Louis Clark of Alaska; six grandchildren; her father, Louis Munson of Keithsburg; and a sister, Avilla ``Billie" Allison of Sioux City, Iowa.

Kevin Lilly
Kevin H. Lilly, 34, New Boston, was found dead Wednesday, April 18, 2001, as the result of a boating accident.

Arrangements are pending at Fippinger Funeral Home, Aledo.

Robert `Barney' McLaughlin
Robert V. ``Barney" McLaughlin, 84, of Moline, died Tuesday, April 17, 2001, at Forest Hill Health and Rehab Center, Moline.

Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Countryside Christian Church, Port Byron. Burial will be in Cordova cemetery .

Visitation will be from noon to service time. A memorial fund has been established. Gibson Funeral Home, Port Byron, is in charge of arrangements.

He was born July 21, 1916, in Oaks, N.D., the son of David and Ellen Lindquist McLaughlin. He married Betty Slininger Aug. 6, 1940, in Port Byron.

He retired from the Moline School District maintenance department in 1979.

He enjoyed playing golf and spending winters in Florida.

Survivors include his wife; daughters and sons-in-law, Gail and Jon Strandgard, Port Byron, Linda McDanold, Ankeny, Iowa, Sally McLaughlin and her husband Mark, Peoria, Elaine and Jerry Richard, Indianapolis, Ind., and Beth and Tom Torrey, Coal Valley; 16 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters, Arlene Allman, Louisiana, Marjorie Lucas, Wisconsin, Euphadee Macatee, Illinois; and a brother, Arnold McLaughlin, Cordova.

Harry Nelson
Harry Dale Nelson, 77, died April 6, 2001, at Hemet Valley Medical Center, Calif., after a lengthy illness.

Inurnrment will be private in California. Memorials may be made to Clover Chapel Church, Woodhull, Ill. Box 177.

He was born in Woodhull, lived in San Jacinto, Calif., and had worked in hotel management.

He is survived by a son, Tom, Virginia; daughters, Sharon Munts, Coal Valley, Kay Neading, Texas, Linda Ouart, Minnesota, and Bonnie Wilson, Hemet; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Dorothy Nelson, Woodhull. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred (Brink) Nelson and Frances Carlson; sister, Darlene Waugh; and infant son, Rory.

Dan Peterson
Dan W. Peterson, 70, of London Mills, Ill., died Thursday, April 12, 2001, at Cottage Hospital, Galesburg.

Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at United Methodist Church, London Mills, where he was a member. Cremation rites have been accorded. Rux Funeral Home, Galva, is in charge of arrangements.

He was born Dec. 26, 1930, in South River, N.J., to John and Flora Bailey Peterson. He married Linda Wolford Aug. 23, 1994. She died Nov. 15, 2000.

He retired from Wittek Manufacturing, Galesburg, where he was a mechanical engineer.

He enjoyed fishing.

Survivors include brothers, Glen and Robert Peterson, both of Long Island, N.Y. He was preceded in death by a sister.

Terry Anderson
Terry Richard Anderson, 56, Pass Christian, Miss., formerly of Clinton, Iowa, died Tuesday, April 17, 2001, in Pass Christian.

Graveside services are 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Biloxi National cemetery , Biloxi, Miss. A funeral procession will leave at 1 p.m. from Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home, Biloxi. There is no visitation.

Mr. Anderson was a native of Clinton, and had lived in Pass Christian for the past four years. He was a retired industrial mechanic with John Deere Tractors. He was of Lutheran faith.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; daughters, Cassie Kehl, Rock Island, Ericka Brader, Colorado Springs, Colo.; son, Ian Anderson, Rock Island; sister, Nancy Hart, Milan; brothers, Rick Rader and Joe McDaniel, both of Moline; and three grandchildren.

Mary Ann Buttenob
Mary Ann Buttenob, 57, St. Louis Park, Minn., passed away Sunday, April 15, 2001.

Services are 7 tonight at Albin Chapel, 2200 Nicollet, Minneapolis, Minn., with visitation one hour prior to services. Additional services are 10 a.m. Saturday at Riverside cemetery Mausoleum, Moline.

Survivors include a brother, Gilbert Hill, Minneapolis; sisters, Bonnie Mattox, Phoenix, Ariz., and Sandra Callahan, Bettendorf; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Velma Day
Velma G. Day, 88, Bettendorf, died April 18, 2001, at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus, Davenport.

Arrangements are pending at Weerts Funeral Home, Davenport.

Louise Harpring
Louise B. Harpring, 95, Davenport, and Rock Island, died Wednesday, April 18, 2001, at Friendship Manor in Rock Island.

Arrangements are pending at Cunnick-Collins Mortuary, Davenport.

Shawn Just
Shawn Just, 23, Davenport, died Tuesday, April 17, 2001, at Genesis East.

Services are 10 a.m. Saturday at Weerts Funeral Home, Davenport. Burial is in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Friday. Memorials to a college fund for his son, Ethan.

He was born Dec. 23, 1977, in Fort Benning, Ga., to Glen and Sylvia Grant Just.

He was a delivery driver.

Survivors include his son and fiancee, Ethan Just and Rachel Demarest, Davenport; parents, Davenport; and grandmother, Earlene Grant, Fredricksburg, Va.

Mary Robbins
Services for Mary E. Robbins, 80, Davenport, are 6 p.m. today at Cunnick-Collins Mortuary, Davenport. Burial is in Davenport Memorial Park.

Visitation is from 4 p.m. to service time.

Mrs. Robbins died Monday, April 17, 2001, at Manor Care, Davenport.

Mary Hale was born Aug. 13, 1920, in Des Moines. She married Maurice Robbins April 23, 1938, in Tipton, Iowa.

Surviving are her husband; children, Gail Maher, Chenoa, Ill., Charles, Bettendorf, and Michael, Davenport; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Ronald Schluenz
Ronald J. Schluenz, 51, Davenport, died Tuesday April 17, 2001, in Davenport.

Services are 1 p.m. today at Runge Mortuary, Davenport. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park cemetery . Visitation is 11 a.m. to service time. Memorials to the family.

He was born Aug. 22, 1949, in Davenport, to Elmer Schluenz and Thora Phillips. He had been an audio technician for Audio Visual Electronics in Davenport.

Surviving are his mother, Thora Phillips, Davenport, and brothers, Gary, Rick, and Rex Schluenz, all of Davenport; two nephews; and one niece.
