Russell Colbert
Funeral Services for Russell L. Colbert, 88, of Aledo, will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Hamlet-Perryton Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Sugar Grove cemetery with military honors by Aledo VFW Post 1571.

Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Speer Funeral Home, 2502 SE 3rd St., Aledo. Memorials may be made to the Hamlet-Perryton Presbyterian Church.

Russell died on Wednesday, July 28, 2004, at Aledo Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Russell was born March 31, 1916, in Millersburg Township, Mercer County, Ill., to Clifford and Bertha Mumey Colbert. He married Violette B. Brown Sept. 7, 1947, in Aledo.

Russell was the Road Commissioner of Perryton Township for 18 years, retiring in 1987. He also was engaged in farming. Russell was a World War II Army Veteran.

Russell was a talented woodworker, making many pieces of beautiful furniture. He also enjoyed gardening. He enjoyed spending time with family and was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.

Russell is survived by his wife, Violette; son, Robert L. Colbert and his wife, Mary, Millersburg; daughter, Carol A. Guthrie, Aledo; four grandchildren, Samantha Chapman, Kimberly Young, Ryan L. Colbert and Tracy Kajdacsi; seven great-grandchildren, Codey and Blaine Chapman, Oakley A. Young, Brittney and Amber Kajdacsi and Quincy and Sadie Marie Young; sister-in-law, Myra Brown, Aledo; two nieces; and several great-nieces and -nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law, Charles Guthrie; and grandson-in-law, Steven Young.

Gary Glazier
Gary G. Glazier, 62, Fulton, died Thursday, July 29, 2004, at Genesis West, Davenport.

Services are 10:30 a.m. Monday at Bosma-Renkes, Fulton. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday. Burial is in Lusk Memorial cemetery , Albany.

He was born Nov. 7, 1941, in Clinton, Iowa, to Clarence and Lillian Glazier. He married Carol Roman March 31, 1962, in Morrison.

Surviving are his wife; daughters, Sherri Brandt, Jordan, Minn., Lisa Parsons, Fulton; son, Garth Glazier, Japan; mother, Albany; 12 grandchildren; a great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his father; daughter, Elena Ritchie.

Rachel Mueller
Memorial Services for Rachel Irene Mueller, 76, of Urbana, Ill., will be 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Zion Lutheran Church, Taylor Ridge, with the Rev. John Haferman officiating. Private burial will be in Zion Lutheran cemetery . Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice. Speer Funeral Home, Aledo, is in charge of arrangements.

Rachel died July 27, 2004, at the Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.

Rachel was born March 3, 1928, in Taylor Ridge, to William George and Lois Marie Winegard Mueller.

Rachel retired as the Executive director of the YWCA in Minneapolis, Minn. She had taught grade school in Chicago and had been employed with the LaGrange YMCA and a Community Representative for the Job Care Training Program in Clinton, Iowa. She had served as the Executive Director for the 708 Mental Health Board in the Quad-Cities. After retiring, she volunteered with the CASA.

Rachel is survived by four brothers, Kenneth, Glenn and Richard Mueller, all of Taylor Ridge, and Allan Mueller, Urbana; and sister, Marjorie Wood, Reynolds.

Howard Robinson
Howard Leslie Robinson, 73, of Sugar Grove, Ill., died Thursday, July 29, 2004, at Trinity Medical Center, Rock Island.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at the Hamlet-Perryton Presbyterian Church. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the church. Burial will be in the Sugar Grove cemetery . Bewley Funeral Home, Aledo, is handling arrangements. Memorials may be made to the Sugar Grove cemetery or Hamlet-Perryton Presbyterian Church.

Mr. Robinson was born Nov. 25, 1930, in Orion, son of Freeman and Helen Johnson Robinson. He married Pauline Schlechtweg April 23, 1955, in Freehold, N.J.

He was employed by United Airlines for 32 years in Moline and Indianapolis.

Howard was a member of Hamlet-Perryton Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed antique cars and tractors, fishing, his family and the peaceful surroundings of his farm.

Survivors (and spouses) include his wife, Pauline; daughters, Wendy (Phil) Merrill, St Joe, Ind., Judy Robinson, Illinois City; sons, Bruce (Diana) Robinson, North Salem, Ind., and Michael Robinson, Aledo; three sisters, Ione (Henry) Bestor, Ft. Walton Beach, Fla., Lois Ashley, Geneseo, and Diane (George) Clary, Coal Valley; aunt, Eleanor Johnson, Geneseo; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Gayne and Jerry.

Jerry `Corky' Baker
Jerry D. 'Corky' Baker, 64, of Davenport, died Thursday, July 29, 2004, at his home.

Arrangements are pending at Weerts Funeral Home, Davenport.

Thomas Britt
Services for Thomas E. Britt, 43, formerly of Davenport, are 10 a.m. Monday at St. Anthony's Catholic, Davenport. Burial is in St. Ann's cemetery , Long Grove.

Visitation is 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries, Davenport, with a 5 p.m. prayer service and sharing to celebrate his life.

Tom died July 26, 2004, at his home in Manhattan Beach, Calif.

He was born March 14, 1961, in Davenport, to Lawrence and Frances Britt.

Surviving are his father and wife, Judi Britt, Davenport; brothers, Mike, Lawrenceville, Ga., Pat, Bozeman, Mont., Terry, Davenport.

J.D. Davis
J.D. Davis, 79, of Davenport, died Thursday, July 29, 2004, at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus, Davenport.

Arrangements are pending at Weerts Funeral Home, Davenport.

Adeline Drish
Adeline A. Drish, 95, of Brighton, Iowa, died July 30, 2004, at the Kahl Home, Davenport.

Services are 11:15 a.m. Monday at Kahl Home. Burial is 3 p.m. Monday at St. Joseph's cemetery , East Pleasant Plain, Iowa. Visitation is 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Monday at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries, Davenport.

She was born Nov. 1, 1909, in Iowa. She married Charles Drish in 1934. He died in 1988.

Surviving are children, Mary Kiefer, Davenport, Ted Drish, Greenfield, Iowa; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three siblings including, Laurine Armatta, Rock Island.

Dorothea Fersch
Dorothea Fersch, 87, Davenport, died July 30, 2004, at Iowa Masonic Health Care Center, Bettendorf.

Services are 10 a.m. Monday at Runge, Davenport, with burial to follow at Davenport Memorial Park cemetery . Visitation is 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday.

She was born Jan. 19, 1917, in Davenport, to Harold and Anna Sass. She married Walter A. Fersch Sept. 5, 1942, in St. Louis, Mo. He died April 23, 1980.

Surviving are sister, Norma Gray, Minneapolis, Minn.; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by an infant son, Bruce; sister, Kathryn Cosper; and brothers, Fred and Harold Sass.

Louis Inghram
Louis L. Inghram, 72, of Davenport, died Friday, July 30, 2004, at Genesis Medical Center, West Campus, Davenport.

Arrangments are pending at Cunnick-Collins Mortuary, Davenport.

Melvin Nyenhuis
Melvin V. Nyenhuis, 88, of Davenport, died Thursday, July 29, 2004, at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus, Davenport.

Arrangements are pending at McGinnis-Chambers, Bettendorf.

Rosemary Shay
Sr. Rosemary Shay, CHM, 91, a resident of Bishop Drumm Care Center, Johnston, Iowa, died Friday, July 30, 2004, at the care center.

Arrangements are pending at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport.

Matthew Adams
Funeral services for Sgt. Matthew S. Adams, 27, Silvis, are 10 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Silvis. Burial is in National cemetery , Arsenal Island, with military honors. Visitation is 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline, where a rosary will be recited at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to an education fund for his two sons.

Matthew died Sunday, July 25, 2004, while stationed at Camp Pendleton, Calif.

He was born Jan. 8, 1977, in Morrison. Four years of Alleman football were the highlight of his high school years. He graduated from United Township High School, East Moline, in 1996. He married Jessica Sundeen June 27, 1998, in Moline.

Matt's military career included; boot camp, tours in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, 29 Palms, Calif., Okinawa, Japan, Waukegan, Ill., and was currently in San Diego, Calif., where he was preparing for deployment to Iraq.

Sgt. Matthew Adams was a dedicated serviceman and father. His greatest love was his two sons, Jordan Matthew, 10, and Isaac Sutton, 5, whom he loved spending time with.

He is survived by his parents, Francis and Laura Adams, Silvis; his wife, Jessica, sons Jordan and Isaac; his sister, Amanda Adams; brother, Mitchell Adams; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and Grandma Shirley. He had many friends whom he held very close to his heart.

Allen Hutt
Allen W. Hutt, 80, of San Benito, Texas, died Sunday, July 25, 2004, in Harlingen, Texas.

Services are 1 p.m. Monday at Family Funeral Services, Milan. Burial is in National cemetery , Arsenal Island, with military honors by Moline American Legion Post 246. Visitation is 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or American Lung Association.

He was born Nov. 16, 1923, in Eliza, Ill., to Vere and Esther Billings Hutt. He married Marjorie Markley June 17, 1944, in Rock Island. He served in the Korean Conflict.

Mr. Hutt retired July 1982 from Eagle Foods as a truck driver.

He was a charter member of the Quinnissippi Good Sams Club, former member of Teamsters Local 371.

Surviving are his wife, Marjorie; sons and spouse, Dennis and Renee Hutt, Kissimmee, Fla., Robin Hutt, Milan; grandchildren, Roy Hutt, Bettendorf, Roger Hutt, Edgington, Cathy Studer, Greenville, Ohio, and Steven Hutt, Yucaipa, Calif.; great-grandchildren, Raeann, Stephanie, Nicholas Hutt, Edgington.

Russell Colbert
Russell L. Colbert, 88, of Aledo, died Wednesday, July 28, 2004, at Aledo Health and Rehab Center.

Services are 10 a.m. Tuesday at Hamlet-Perryton Presbyterian Church. Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Speer Funeral Home, Aledo, where further arrangements are pending.

Gary Glazier
Gary G. Glazier, 62, of Fulton, died Thursday, July 29, 2004, at Genesis Medical Center, West Campus, Davenport.

Arrangements are pending at the Fulton Chapel, of Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home.

Earl Ortery
Earl E. Ortery, 88, of Abingdon, died Thursday, July 29, 2004, at Galesburg Cottage Hospital.

Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Greenmound cemetery , Keithsburg. The Rev. Charles Reynolds will officiate. There will be no visitation. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Chapel, Abingdon, is in charge of arrangements.

He was born Dec. 15, 1915, in Monmouth, to George and Gladys Ishmael Ortery. He married Billie W. Chenault Aug. 20, 1937, in New London, Mo. They enjoyed their lives together for 52 years. She preceded him in death Oct. 12, 1989.

He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps.

He had lived in Abingdon since 1941. He worked at the former American Sanitary Manufacturing Company (Brass Factory) in Abingdon for 29 1/2 years and later at Abingdon Pottery for three years, retiring in 1977. He enjoyed sitting by the Mississippi River.

Surviving are his sisters, Hazel Sheckles, Seaton, Bertha (Albert) Finch, Keithsburg, Edith Turnquist, Yucca Valley, Calif., and Bettie Johanson, Moline. He also was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Freddie and Leonard; and infant sister, Alice.

Rosemary Phillips
Rosemary J. Phillips, 84, formerly of Cambridge, died Wednesday, July 28, 2004, at Good Samaritan Village, Geneseo.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Cambridge Lutheran Church. The Rev. Fred Schmidt will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale cemetery , Cambridge. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the Cambridge Chapel of Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services. Memorials may be made to Cambridge Lutheran Church.

The former Rosemary Anderson was born Feb. 11, 1920, in Moline, the daughter of John H. and Julia C. Olson Anderson. She attended the Julia Richmond High School in New York City and then graduated from Rock Island High School in 1937. Her marriage to Kenneth Lavern Phillips took place July 2, 1938, in Muscatine, Iowa. He died May 7, 1983.

Following their marriage, the couple lived in Ophiem, Ill., and moved to Cambridge in 1940. Rosemary was employed at Cambridge High School, Henry County Cold Storage, Bell Insurance and Lindburg Oil Co., all in Cambridge, and served as village of Cambridge treasurer for more than 20 years.

Her memberships included Cambridge Lutheran Church, WELCA women's group, County Center Grange, Social Hour Club, Henry County Senior Citizens Board and Quad City Emmaus Community. She was a charter member of the former Cambridge PTA. Rosemary served as an election judge in Cambridge for more than 30 years. She had been a Cub Scout den mother, a volunteer at Cambridge Senior Citizens meal site, a blood-mobile volunteer through the Grange refreshment service, and a seamstress for 15 years.

Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, John and Ruth Ann Phillips, Geneseo; grandchildren and spouses, Ken and Jennifer Phillips, Wonder Lake, Ill., Rae Lynn and Mark Jackson, Peosta, Iowa, and Cathy Jo and Ron Zahari, Barrington, Ill. Also surviving are seven great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; and several cousins in the United States and Sweden. Her parents and husband preceded her in death.
