Linda Schuette

Linda Schuette, 59, of Camdenton, Mo., formerly of Alexandria, Mo., and Las Vegas, died Wednesday, April 25, 2007, at her home.

DeJong's Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.

Everett Speidel

Everett Russell Speidel, 85, of Burlington, died Sunday, April 29, 2007, at Great River Medical Center in West Bur–lington after an extended illness.

Born Nov. 16, 1921, in Middletown, he was the son of Chris and Ruth Weigert Speidel. On April 16, 1950, he married Laura Louise Dustman in Burlington.

Mr. Speidel was self–employed as a carpenter–contractor who built 20–plus homes on speculation in Burlington. In later years he renovated and managed his investment rental properties.

He graduated from Danville High School in 1940. He served as a mechanic in the Army Air Corps stationed in Waco, Texas during World War II.

In the early 1960s, he built a pop–up camper from a 1947 Ford axle and his family toured the national parks and scenic wonders before KOA and interstates made traveling easy. He was an avid hunter and raised and trained hunting dogs. He grew vegetables and fruit trees and made wines and pickles. Survivors include his wife; seven children, Cynthia Ruth Osborne of Atlanta, Georgia Karen Louise Livingstone of Portland, Ore., Jarmila Kay Coffield of Keokuk, Lyle Everett Speidel of Key Largo, Fla., Diane Leah Petersen of Peoria, Ill., Tamara Denise Speidel of Australia, Linda Rebecca Anderson of Burlington; 15 grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; one brother, Carl Speidel of West Burlington; and one sister, Dorothea Bell of Baytown, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.

No visitation is planned.

Disposition of ashes and celebration of life will be at a later date when distant family can attend.

Marjorie High

Marjorie "Marge" E. High, 79, of Burlington, died at 8 a.m. Sunday, May 30, 2004, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.

Born June 9, 1924, in Bur–lington, she was the daughter of John J. and Effie E. Steinbeck Geiger. On Aug. 2, 1942, she married Al E. High in Kahoka, Mo. He died Sept. 16, 2002.

Mrs. High worked at Montgomery Ward making drapes after high school. She also worked at B.L. Robinson for 10 years and North Hill Medical Center as a receptionist for 15 years.

She was a 1942 graduate of Lockridge High School in Lockridge. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school and served on various committees. She was the first president and a past president of the Eagles Auxiliary and a past president of PTA. She was a member of Ladies of the Moose and the Elks Auxiliary. She loved to sew, do needlework, bowl, watch and feed birds and squirrels, and watch the Cubs.

Survivors include one son, Al D. High of Lexington, Ky.; one daughter, Christine Robinson of Burlington; three grandchildren; six great–grandchildren; and one sister, Margaret Lanferman of Rome.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and one sister.

Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at Lunning Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m.

The funeral for Mrs. High will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Lunning Chapel, with the Rev. Dennis Tevis officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.

A memorial has been established for First United Methodist Church.

Debra "Debbie" L. Ralston

The funeral service for Mrs. Debra "Debbie" L. Ralston, 44, who died Thursday, May 29, 2003 will be Tuesday, June 3rd at 10:30 AM in Lunning Chapel. The Rev. Donald Hoornstra will officiate. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery . Friends may call after 8:00 AM today in Lunning Chapel where the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. A memorial has been established for Gilda's Club of the Quad Cities.

Alma L. Linden

The graveside funeral service and interment for Mrs. Alma L. Linden, 91, who died Friday, May 30, 2003, will be at 3:00 PM Tuesday, June 3rd in Aspen Grove Cemetery . Pastor Kirk Bennett will officiate. Friends may call from 8:00 AM until 12:00 PM Tuesday at Lunning Chapel. A memorial in Alma's name has been established.

Norvell Currie

The funeral service for Mr. Norvell Currie, 66, who died Saturday, May 31, 2003, is pending at Lunning Chapel.

Sadie Olson

Sadie B. Wall Olson, 79, of Macomb, Ill., formerly of LaHarpe, Ill., died at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 8, 2004, at Elms Nursing Home in Macomb.

Born June 10, 1924, near Keokuk, she was the daughter of Justice "Jesse" and Treacy Lovell Hoover. She married Alvin M. Wall. He died in 1963. On Oct. 21, 1967, she married David H. Olson in Carthage, Ill. He died Oct. 2, 1976.

Mrs. Olson lived in LaHarpe before moving to Macomb about 25 years ago. She was a resident of the Elms since 1999.

Survivors include four sons, Alvin "Lester" Wall of Macomb, Gene Wall of Bushnell, Ill., John Wall of Wayland, Mo., and Donnie Wall of Colony, Mo.; five daughters, Janet Bundy and Ann Erven, both of Macomb, Sandra Ussery of Tennessee, Ill., and Dorothy Green and Donna Wilson of Colchester, Ill.; 33 grandchildren; 44 great–grandchildren; three great–great–grandchildren; and three sisters, Betty Thompson of Macomb, Maude Lambert of Lakeland, Fla., and Jessie Sanders of Carbon Cliff, Ill.

Besides both husbands, she was preceded in death by two sons, two granddaughters; two brothers and four sisters.

Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Banks and Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

The funeral for Mrs. Olson will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Banks & Beals Funeral Home, with the Rev. Ron Bricker officiating. Burial will be in McKay Cemetery near Burnside, Ill.

A memorial fund has been established.

Vera Robbins

Vera P. Robbins, 88, of Macomb, Ill., formerly of Bowen, Ill., died at 4:00 a.m. Friday, June 16, 2006, at the McDonough District Hospital in Macomb.

Born Dec. 21, 1917, in Stillwell, Ill., she was the daughter of William and Mabel Blythe Whewell. On Oct. 20, 1939, she married Edwin G. Robbins in Palmyra, Mo.

She graduated from Carthage High School. She enjoyed gardening, sewing and crocheting.

Survivors include her husband; one daughter, Nancy Snyder of Mahomet, Ill.; two sons, Harold Robbins of Newport News, Va., and Robin Robbins of Quincy, Ill.; five grandchildren; nine great–grandchildren; two brothers, Robert Whewell of Florida and Billy Whewell of Bowen; and one sister, Doris Neill of Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.

Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Monday at Printy Funeral Home in Carthage.

Funeral services for Mrs. Robbins will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Printy Funeral Home, with burial to follow in Chili Township Cemetery.

A memorial has been established for Wesley Village in Macomb.

Imogene Holecek

Imogene S. Holecek, 97, of Keokuk, died Thursday, June 17, 2004, at her daughter's home in Keokuk. Arrangements are pending at Vigen Memorial Home.

Jennie Coffman

Jennie M. Coffman, 77, of Hamilton, Ill., died at 12:10 p.m. Thursday, June 17, 2004, at her home.

Born March 30, 1927, in Warsaw, Ill., she was the daughter of Carl and Clara Jo Schaeffer Rupp. In October 1943, she married Arthur Gemming in Kahoka, Mo. He preceded her in death. In 1971, she married Ed Coffman in Hamilton. He also preceded her in death.

Mrs. Coffman was a member of Calvary Foursquare Church in Keokuk. She enjoyed working jigsaw puzzles.

Survivors include one son, Larry Gemming of Clinton; three daughters, Kim Bricker and Kay Young, both of Hamilton, and Gwen Howell of Grove City, Ohio; six grandchildren; two great–grandchildren; and three sisters, Celia Courtois of Ursa, Ill., and Dorothy Casey and Clara Ruffcorn, both of Keokuk.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, one daughter, five sisters and two brothers.

Visitation will be 9 to 11 a.m. Monday at Lamporte Funeral Home in Hamilton.

The funeral for Mrs. Coffman will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Lamporte Funeral Home, with Pastor Dan Davis officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Hamilton.

A memorial has been established for Calvary Foursquare Church.

Marie Taulman

Marie Eileen Taulman, 86, of Keokuk, died at 2:20 p.m. Friday, July 30, 2004, at Keokuk Area Hospital.

Born April 12, 1918, in Keo–kuk, she was the daughter of Arthur L. and Marie E. Murphy Jones. She married Dale Van Zant. On Aug. 29, 1955, she married Eugene E. Taulman in Carthage, Ill. He died Feb. 18, 1995.

Mrs. Taulman worked at La Charm Beauty Shop and was a member of the cosmetology group of Keokuk.

She was a resident of Keokuk with the exception of having lived in Sioux City from 1968 to 1995. She was a member of All Saints Catholic Church of Keokuk and Ladies of Charity.

Survivors include one daughter, Teresa Roberts of Fort Worth, Texas; one granddaughter; one sister, Bernice McCarty of Keokuk, and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter and one brother.

Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Greaves Mortuary in Keokuk, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. and a Christian vigil service will be at 7 p.m.

The funeral for Mrs. Taulman will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at All Saints Catholic Church with the Rev. Robert Lathrop officiating. Burial will be in Keokuk National Cemetery.

Memorials have been established for All Saints Catholic Church and the American Diabetes Association.

Mary Croy

Mary C. Croy, 76, of Stronghurst, Ill., formerly of Kansas City, Kan., and Rockaway Beach, Mo., died at 3:35 p.m. Wednesday, July 31, 2002, at Oak Lane Nursing & Rehab Center in Stronghurst.

Born March 6, 1926, in Kansas City, she was the daughter of Frank and Georgia Goddard Lentz. She married Fred Warren Croy. He died in 1988.

Mrs. Croy lived in Kansas City and Rockaway Beach for many years. She moved to Stronghurst in June.

Survivors include one daughter, Linda Pinick of Branson, Mo.; two grandsons; and one brother, Michael Lentz of Rockaway Beach.

There will be no visitation.

A graveside service for Mrs. Croy will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Maple Hill Cemetery in Kansas City.

Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Stronghurst is in charge of arrangements.
