SYLVIA MAUREEN STOCK

UNION GROVE, Wis. - Sylvia Maureen Stock, 43, of Union Grove, died Tuesday (Aug. 10, 1999) of medical complications during her treatment of cancer at St. Luke's Hospital, in Milwaukee.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at North Cape Lutheran Church, 2644 124th St., Franksville, Wis.

Memorial arrangements are by Polnasek-Daniels Funeral Home, Union Grove, Wis.

Sylvia Maureen Stock was born Dec. 29, 1955, in Mason City, Iowa, the daughter of James W. Stock and the late Viola M. Stock.

After graduating from Union Grove High School in 1974, she furthered her education at UW Steven's Point and recently attended the Milwaukee Area Technical College for television production and photography. She resided in the state of Oregon for 12 years prior to moving back home to Union Grove to help care for her mother who also battled cancer.

Over the years, Sylvia was employed as a travel agent, over-the-road driver, equipment operator, hotel clerk and postal worker.

She enjoyed traveling. During her years as a travel agent, she had the opportunity to travel to many tropical destinations: Hawaii, Jamaica, Mexico, Cancun and the Bahamas. Some of her fondest though, are her annual travels, as a youth along with her parents and six siblings, to Northern Ontario she enjoyed fishing in the English and Chicone rivers.

Her creative abilities were most evident in her handiwork with needlepoint and the making of custom Victorian lamp shade replicas. These shades were marketed in Corvalis, Ore.

Survivors include her father, James W. Stock; two sisters, Lora Stock, of Union Grove, Wis., and Julia Stock, of Racine, Wis.; four brothers, Mark W., of California, James C., of Somers, Paul C. and his wife, Stacy, of North Cape, and John M., of Union Grove; six nieces and nephews, Coby, William, Richard, Chelsea, Hannah, and Emma; and one great-nephew, Drew.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Viola M. Stock in 1998.

JERRY M. KUPER

OSAGE - Jerry M. Kuper, 91, of Osage, died Thursday (Aug. 12, 1999) at the Mitchell County Regional Health Center.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Osage, with the Rev. Dennis Hanson and the Rev. Roy Ott officiating. Burial will be in the Osage Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 3 until 8 p.m. on Sunday at the Champion Funeral Home, Osage.

Jerry was born on March 6, 1908 at Ackley, Iowa, the son of Menno and Clara (Spieker) Kuper. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church in Ackley.

He was united in marriage to Marian Aukes on July 3, 1931. They farmed near Ackley until 1948. They then moved to a farm near Osage in 1949. Upon retirement, they moved to Parkersburg in1 973. They returned to Osage in 1977. Marian passed away in 1984. He enjoyed playing pool and dancing.

He married Melba Benker, of Osage, on Sept. 10, 1987. They continued to live in Osage.

He is survived by his wife, Melba, of Osage; three sons, Melvin Kuper and his wife, Vera, of Addison, Ill., Gary Kuper and his wife, Eloise, of Osage, and Myron Kuper and his wife, Sue, of Osage; two daughters, Frances Meinders and her husband, Harold, of Dumont, and Beverly Hanson, of Salem, Ore.; two stepdaughters, Phyllis Barndau, of Osage and Shirley Bentley and her husband, Charles, of Waterloo; ; one sister, Mildred Huisman, of Sarasota, Fla.; 22 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Marian; an infant daughter; one son, Vernon; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; three sisters; and two brothers.

RAYMOND HONKEN

BUFFALO CENTER - Funeral services for Raymond Honken will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Buffalo Center, with the Rev. Jim Cherry officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery , Buffalo Center.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the Winter Funeral Home, Buffalo Center and one hour prior to services on Saturday at the church.

Raymond Martin Honken, the son of John and Alice (Becker) Honken, was born Oct. 4, 1906, at Buffalo Center, Iowa. He attended country schools and helped on the family farm during his youth.

He married Violet Moe on May 6, 1936, at Mason City, Iowa. They moved to Buffalo Center in 1937 and both were lifelong residents of the community. After marriage, Ray worked for the Hum & Olson Construction Company as a carpenter and then went to work for Jensvold's Implement. He was proud to have been able to help the area farmers when their John Deere equipment needed repair. He was a mechanic at Jensvold's for 40 years until his retirement. Ray always enjoyed fishing with family and friends.

Ray was a resident at the Timely Mission Nursing Home in Buffalo Center for the last three years. He passed away there Wednesday (Aug. 11, 1999).

He is survived by three sons and their wives, Robert and Lynn, of Los Angeles, Calif., Stanley and Connie, of Clarinda, Iowa, and Vernon and Debra, of Forest City, Iowa; nine grandchildren; one stepgrandson; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Violet; three brothers, Harry, Alvin and Ralph; and one sister, Hazel.

CLEAR LAKE - Thomas Boonstra, 43, of 710 Sixth Place N., Clear Lake, died Thursday (Aug. 12, 1999) at the Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa, Mason City.

CLEAR LAKE - Dorothy M. Rogers, 77, of Clear Lake, died Thursday (Aug. 12, 1999) at the Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa, Mason City.

Funeral services are tentatively scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 17, 1999, at the Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St., Clear Lake.

MASON CITY - Soren C. Christensen, 87, of 432 S. Tennessee Place, died Wednesday (Aug. 11, 1999) at the Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa West Campus.
