Terry Schooley
OTTUMWA -- Terry L. Schooley, 59, of 1418 Sunrise Circle, died at 9:18 a.m. Sept. 27, 2002, at his home.
He was born March 27, 1943, in Oskaloosa to Nelson and Isabelle Grant Schooley. He married Ginger Strong Jan. 3, 1965.
A graduate of Ottumwa High School in 1961, he worked at John Deere Ottumwa Works, retiring in 1994.
Surviving are his wife; two sons, Terry and Marty Schooley, both of Ottumwa; a daughter, Angela Lamb of Castle Rock, Colo.; five grandchildren; two brothers, Ted Schooley of Galesburg, Ill., and Tony Schooley of Ottumwa; and two sisters, Judy Steeples and Linda Jo MacKenzie, both of Ottumwa.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Tom Schooley; and three sisters, Betty Jean Purkey, Janet Rumans and Joyce Carr.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Reece Funeral Home with the Rev. Kendall Holder of First Church of God officiating. Burial will be at Shaul Cemetery.
Visitation will begin after 9 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Bob Daniels, Lloyd "Bud" Leedom, Larry Eakins, David Baker, George Jackson and Dwight "Butch" Jones.
Memorials have been established to First Church of God, Hospice Inc. and American Cancer Society.
Rodney Schippers
BUSSEY -- Rodney Lee Schippers, 44, of Bussey died Dec. 7, 2002, at his residence.
He was born Oct. 4, 1958, in Jefferson Township, Mahaska County, to Orvel J. and Susie Courtney Schippers. He married Connie Little Sept. 18, 1981, in Oskaloosa.
He was a graduate of Twin Cedars High School, class of 1977. He was a farmer and worked as maintenance for R.E. Allen Trucking. He was a trustee for Jefferson Township, Mahaska County.
Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Brandi Schippers and a son, Scott Schippers, both at home; his mother of Bussey; a sister, Alice Ann Nace of Bussey; and four brothers, John of Tracy, Wes and Marv of Oskaloosa and Dale of Bussey.
He was preceded in death by his father and one brother, Orvel Dean Schippers.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Winfield Funeral Home, Albia, with Mary Williams and Pastor Paul Hughes officiating. Burial will be at Pringle Cemetery , rural Bussey.
Visitation will be after 4 p.m. today (Monday) at the funeral home with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m.
Pallbearers will be John, Wes, Marv, Dale and Shawn Schippers, Mike and Chad Little, Jeff Nace.
A memorial has been established to the family.
Raymond "Tug" Pyle Jr.
HITEMAN -- Raymond Patricius "Tug" Pyle Jr., 76, of rural Hiteman, died July 31, 2002, at his home.
He was born Oct. 24, 1925, in Hiteman to Raymond and Gerada M. Montgomery Pyle Sr. He married Betty Lou Cooper Nov. 10, 1950, at the Methodist Church, Albia. She preceded him in death March 21, 1998.
He was a member of the last graduating class of Hiteman High School in 1943. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theater Campaign from 1943 to 1946. He was a farmer, truck driver and construction worker. He was the Superintendent of Monroe County Road Department and the DOT. He was a member of the Howard Cessna Post No. 136 American Legion and the VFW of Albia, a member of the Hiteman Cemetery
Board. He also pitched on the Hiteman fast-pitch softball team.
Surviving are four sons, Steven, John and Joe, all of Albia, and Dennis of Butler, Mo.; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one brother, Robert of Ottumwa; and special friend, Willma James of Albia.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; one sister, Clara Cecelia Pyle; and two brothers in infancy.
Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Winfield Funeral Home, Albia, with the Rev. Richard Grimes officiating. Burial of cremains with Military Rites by the Howard Cessna Post No. 136 of Albia will follow the service at Hiteman Cemetery.
Visitation will be open after 9 a.m. today (Friday) in the funeral home with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m.
Honorary escorts will be Jeanne, Jaime, Jackie, Joseph and Tyler Pyle, and Erin Tuttle.
Memorials may be made to the Hiteman Cemetery
or to Hospice of Monroe County.
Blanche Pearson
OSKALOOSA -- Lela Blanche Pearson, 100, of Oskaloosa, formerly of Rose Hill, died Friday, April 4, 2003 at Mahaska County Hospital in Oskaloosa.
She was born Feb. 3, 1903 in Tioga, Iowa, daughter of Calvin and Lena Taylor Wymore. She married John L. Pearson in Oskaloosa.
She was raised and educated in the Tioga area and attended North Taylor Country School. After completing school she took care of her grandmother and other elderly people in the area. She spent her life as a homemaker and raising her five children. She moved to Oskaloosa in 1973. She was a member of the Tioga Church, where she taught Sunday and Bible School.
Survivors include one daughter, Rebecca Krusemark of Oskaloosa; nine grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and numerous great-great and great-great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three sons, Donald, Glenn and Joseph E. "Gene" Pearson; one daughter, Ila Mae Pearson; three brothers, Glenn DeWitt, Gerald Havens and Woodrow Havens; and four sisters, Nellie Selvy, Irene Arnold, Fern Johnson and Zelma Noe.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 8 at Fremont Funeral Chapel with Pastor Bill and Jan Kolb officiating. Burial will follow at Tioga Cemetery.
Visitation will be after 10 a.m. Monday, April 7 at the funeral home with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m.
A memorial has been established in her name.
Cory Courtney
ALBIA - Cory A. Courtney, 11 day old son of Virgil and Dawn Courtney of Prairie city, formerly of Albia, died Nov. 26, 1999 at the Monroe County Hospital.
Arrangements are pending at Winfield Funeral Home in Albia.
Arthur Hudson
CINCINNATI - Arthur Hudson, 87, of Cincinnati, Iowa died Nov. 24, 1999 at Mercy Medical Center in Centerville.
He was born Sept. 10, 1912 in Cincinnati to Marian and Izetta Ross Hudson.
The service will be 10 a.m. today at Johnson-Lange Funeral Home, the Rev. Donnell Logsdon officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to his church.
Lloyd Vincent
OTTUMWA - Lloyd E. Vincent, 69, of 607 S. Davis, died Nov. 25, 1999 at his home.
He was born Jan. 21, 1930 in Unionville, Mo. to Columbus and Bessie Marie Woods Vincent.
The service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Reece Funeral Home, the Rev. John Spiegel of the St. Patrick's Catholic Church officiating. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery.
Visitation will be open after 9 a.m. Monday with family present from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
Memorials may be made to the family.
Don Polson
ALBIA - Don F. Polson, 81, of Albia, died Nov. 25, 1999 at his home.
He was born Oct. 4, 1918 in Centerville to Carl and Harta Pierson Polson.
The body has been cremated. Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Winfield Funeral Home in Albia, the Rev. Lynda Carlson officiating. Burial of cremains will be at a later date.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Albia Public Library.
Merle Talbert
OTTUWMA - Merle J. Talbert, 70, of 910 W. Second, died Nov. 28, 1999 at Ridgewood Care Center in Ottuwma.
He was born Jan. 10, 1929 in Grinnell to John B. and Mary Jones Talbert.
Visitation is open after 9 a.m. Tuesday with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at Reece Funeral Home.
Cremation will follow the visitation.
