EUGENE "BOW WOW" DOMINECK

Christopher - Eugene "Bow Wow" Domineck, 90, of Christopher died at 4:35 a.m. Friday, Feb. 6, 2004, at the Shawnee Nursing Home in Herrin.

A funeral service is scheduled for 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 9, at the Gilbert Funeral Home in Christopher, officiated by Brother Eugene Sanders. Burial will be in Harrison Cemetery in Buckner. Visitiation will be after 10 a.m. Monday until the time of the service at the funeral home.

Mr. Domineck was born Aug. 20, 1913, in Alex, Ark., the son of Frank and Julie Williams Domineck. He was married to Dimple Sanders Domineck, and she survives.

A retired coal miner and floor refinisher, Mr. Domineck was a member of the Apostolic Church in Christopher.

He is survived by his wife, Dimple, and his daughter, Carolyn Domineck of Newton.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Alzheimer's Association will be accepted at the funeral home.

FRANK J. CUNNINGHAM SR.

Mathis, Texas - Frank J. Cunningham Sr. of Mathis, Texas, died Thursday, Feb. 5, 2004, in Mathis, Texas.

A funeral service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 10, at the Poulson Funeral Home in Benton, officiated by Pastor Steve Flock. Burial will be in the Masonic & Odd Fellows Cemetery in Benton with Military Rites. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Cunningham was born April 25, 1919, in Owosso, Mich., the son of John James and Gertrude (Bacon Cunningham. He was married to Adeline C. Cunningham, who preceded him in death.

He served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II, serving in the 101st Airborne Division. He then continued his career as a Merchant Marine for Sea Farers from 1959 until his retirement in 1987.

Mr. Cunningham is survived by two sons, Richard P. Cunningham and wife, Flora, of Benton, and Frank James Cunningham Jr. and wife, Emma Salazar, of Beeville, Texas; one daughter, Virginia Katherine and husband Roy Koenig of Mathis, Texas; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

SANDRA JONES

Akin - Sandra Jones, 40, of Akin died at 2:40 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, 2004, in her friend and caregiver's home in Logan.

Her wishes were to donate her remains to the SIU School of Medicine for medical advancement. A memorial service will be announced at a later date. Arrangements are being handled by the Poulson Funeral Home in Benton.

Sandra was born Jan. 30, 1964, in Mt. Vernon, the daughter of David and Gloria (Webb) Jones, who preceded her in death on Jan. 23, 2004.

A homemaker, Sandra loved to go camping.

She is survived by her son, Casey Hester of Logan, along with friends and caregivers Janet Parker of Logan; Bo, J.D. and Robert Parker of Logan; Jan Hungate of Logan; and Donna Riener of San Diego, Calif.; brothers, Gary Jones of Benton, Michael Jones of Knoxville, Tenn., Ron Jones of Benton and Tony Jones of Chester; and sisters Gloria "Jeanie" Jones of Benton and Carmen Jones of Metropolis.

She was preceded in death by her parents and by three brothers, Barry, Davey and Rickie Jones.

GLADYS COLE BOOK

Formerly of Franklin County, IL

Gladys Cole Book, 88, of Cottonwood, Ariz., died Tuesday, March 30, 2004, at the Verde Valley Medical Center in Cottonwood. She was born in Franklin County, on Oct. 16, 1915, the daughter of Ovid and Ada (Williams) Cole.

She was a member of the Ina Free Will Baptist Church. She was known for her quick smile and for her love and devotion to her family.

She is survived by one son, Jim Book and his wife, Joan, of Cottonwood, Ariz.; a daughter-in-law, Nema Book of Tulsa, Okla.; five grandchildren: Jill Jeziorski and Judi Book, both of Phoenix, Ariz., William Book of Apache Junction, Ariz., Kimberly Lewis of Tulsa, Okla., and Bretton Book of Jenks, Okla.; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and one sister, LaVerne Donahoe, of Waterloo, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, John Bock; and by four sisters: Leora Cornatti, Viola Taylor, Shirley Richards, and Evelyn Laur.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, April 3, at the Johnston Funeral Home in Ina, with Bro. David Shores officiating. Burial will be in the Kirk Cemetery in Ina.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday to the Johnston Funeral Home in Ina.

LUCILLE DAVIS

McLeansboro - Lucille Davis, 80, of McLeansboro, died at 3:10 p.m. on Thursday, April 1, 2004, at Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro. She was born Jan. 14, 1924, in Walpole, the daughter of William A. and Rella Jane (Ingram) Taylor.

She married William H. (Bill) Davis on Dec. 23, 1941, in Cape Girardeau, Mo. He preceded her in death on Nov. 6, 1997.

Mrs. Davis was a homemaker.

She was a member of the First Christian Church of McLeansboro, and a former member of McLeansboro Eastern Star and Rebekah Lodge.

Survivors include two daughters: Brenda Reichow, of Christopher, and Linda K. Robbins and husband, Jim, of Sesser; six grandchildren: Kim Kail, Mark Reichow, Scott Robbins, Rob Robbins, Chantyl Wilson, and Cory Robbins; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and one brother, William Taylor.

Graveside services will be held at 12 p.m. on Saturday, April 3, at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in McLeansboro, with the Rev. Robert Sefried officiating.

Friends may call to from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday to Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro.

DEWEY H. FRYE JR.

Benton - Dewey H. Frye Jr., 72, of Benton, died at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 4, 2004, at his home.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, April 8, at the Morton & Johnston Funeral Home in Benton, with the Rev. Gene Outland officiating. Burial with military rites conducted by the Sesser VFW will be in the Masonic & Oddfellows Ceme-tery in Benton. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday to the funeral home. Masonic services will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mr. Frye was born April 21, 1931, in Saltville, Va., the son of Dewey H. Frye Sr. and Mae (Roark) Frye. He married Merle (Hayse) Frye on Aug. 15, 1972, and she survives.

Mr. Frye was of the Baptist faith. He was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose and a member of Sesser Masonic Lodge 918.

He was an Army veteran.

Mr. Frye was retired from mine construction and as a consultant for Roberts & Schaffer Mine Construction Company.

Survivors include his wife, Merle F. Frye, of Benton; two sons, Jim "Butch" Taylor and wife, Jane, of Benton, and Darrel D. Bigham of Vienna; one daughter, Linda Rapp and husband, Tony, of Tamaroa; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one brother, Curtis Frye and wife, Donna, of Sesser, and their daughter, Becky; one sister, Virginia Allison, of Saltville, Va.; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Frye was preceded in death by his parents and by two brothers, Monty and Jack.

For those who wish, memorials may be made to the Hazel Dell Freewill Baptist Church in Sesser.

VAN RICHARD RICE

Riverside, Calif. - Van Richard Rice of Riverside, Calif., passed away March 19, 2004.

Graveside services were held March 26 with full military honors at the National Cemetery in Riverside, Calif.

Van was a native of Benton, born May 11, 1923, to Stanley and Edith (Upchurch) Rice.

He retired from Rohr Industries in 1986. Van was a master sergeant in the U.S. Army from 1943-46 and was a veteran of World War II and Korea. He belonged to the VFW Post 9223.

Van is survived by his beloved wife, Peggy Eley, of Riverside; daughter, Victoria, and husband, Patrick Young, of Riverside; son, Van Richard Rice II and wife, Teri, of Plano, Texas; four beloved grandchildren, Paul, Ellen, Trevor and Rebecca; brothers, Allen of Diamondhead, Miss., George of Abilene, Texas, and Jim of Marietta, Ga.; and sisters, Jo Dean Blackwood of Marietta, Ga., and Pat Towle of Benton.

His parents and three brothers, Howard, Donald and Wendell, preceded him in death.

Memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice, 1700 Iowa Ave., #230, Riverside, CA 92507.

ETHEL S. McKEMIE

Lewisville, Texas - Ethel S. McKemie passed away April 1, 2004, in Lewisville, Texas, at the age of 93.

A memorial service was to be held at the Lewisville Estates in Lewisville, Texas, on Tuesday, April 6. Interment will be at the Masonic & Oddfellows Cemetery in Benton.

She is survived by one sister, Iva Furlow of Christopher; two daughters, Su Rogahn of Valencia, Calif. and Mary Kay Parchman of Sherman, Texas; two grandchildren, David R. Rogahn of Valencia, Calif., and Michele Parchman of Lewisville, Texas.

Her husband, Robert McKemie, and two sons-in-law, Ken Rogahn and Dan Parchman, preceded her in death.

JAMES ROBERT 'JIMMY, LOOKYHERE' THIELE

Benton - James Thiele, 53, died at 7:45 a.m. Sunday, April 4, 2004, at the Franklin Hospital, Benton.

Mr. Thiele was born Nov. 4, 1950 in Granite City, the son of Raymond and Norma (Ramsiger) Thiele. He married the former Michelle Scott on May 12, 1989, and she survives.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps (Recon Ranger) and owner of M.T. Fabrication, Inc. in Benton, and Ina. He started his business with a lot of determination, love for his family, hard work, a lot of sweat and tears and one unemployment check. He manufactured the No. 1 enclosed car hauler in the United States.

He enjoyed afternoons on his tractor, going to the coffee shop with his friends, spending the day with his grandkids, working alongside his sons and telling you exactly how it was.

Those who REALLY knew Jimmy knew him as the most loving, kind-hearted, caring and devoted man to his friends and family. He was also known for his honesty, quick wit, knowledge of welding, fabricating machinery, tractors and anything else you wanted to know. Those of us who knew the real Jim Thiele were the lucky ones. Those who didn't missed out on knowing a wonderful person.

He is survived by his wife, Michelle (Candybar) Thiele, Benton; two sons, Jason Thiele and wife Tonya, Benton, and Alex Thiele, Benton; a stepson, Ryan Doty, Tamms; three granddaughters, (Pa Paw's special little angels), and Erica and Mariah Thiele, Benton, and Harli Rhine, Benton; a grandson, Tyler James Thiele (Schofield), Benton; a daughter, Daphne Thiele, Benton; his mother, Norma Thiele, Benton; two brothers, Jeffery (Jeremy) Thiele, Benton, and Gary and wife Linda (Mark and Paula)Thiele, Florida; father-in-law and mother-in-law, John and Gail Scott, Benton; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Gina (Ashley) Scott, Benton, Dean and wife Laura (Scott, Courtney, Mary Rose) Scott, Itasca, Ill., Sandy and husband Kenny (Matt, Luke) Blackman, Benton, Coleen (Jason, Jennifer) Hobbie, Benton, and Leo (Brian, Nicole, Brittany) Scott, Benton.

Jimmy also left his very special friends, Melvin and Linda Sullivan, Bob and Mike Buntin, Karen Glenn, and his special girl, Lindsay Biddle, his dog, Precious (daddy's lil buddy), his M.T. Fab boys, Ricky (I love you sweetheart) Shuey, and Scott (Snot) Davis. Thanks a million, boys. He loved you all so much.

Mr. Thiele was preceded in death by his father and very special friends, Earnie Glenn, and Roy Dean and Merideth Osborn. And a special Jim Thiele salute to all.

A special private memorial service will be held at a later date. Hobbs-Johnson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

He will be greatly missed. WE LOVE YOU JIMMY!
