Benton - James Thiele, 53, died at 7:45 a.m. Sunday, April 4, 2004, at the Franklin Hospital, Benton.
Mr. Thiele was born Nov. 4, 1950 in Granite City, the son of Raymond and Norma (Ramsiger) Thiele. He married the former Michelle Scott on May 12, 1989, and she survives.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps (Recon Ranger) and owner of M.T. Fabrication, Inc. in Benton, and Ina. He started his business with a lot of determination, love for his family, hard work, a lot of sweat and tears and one unemployment check. He manufactured the No. 1 enclosed car hauler in the United States.
He enjoyed afternoons on his tractor, going to the coffee shop with his friends, spending the day with his grandkids, working alongside his sons and telling you exactly how it was.
Those who REALLY knew Jimmy knew him as the most loving, kind-hearted, caring and devoted man to his friends and family. He was also known for his honesty, quick wit, knowledge of welding, fabricating machinery, tractors and anything else you wanted to know. Those of us who knew the real Jim Thiele were the lucky ones. Those who didn't missed out on knowing a wonderful person.
He is survived by his wife, Michelle (Candybar) Thiele, Benton; two sons, Jason Thiele and wife Tonya, Benton, and Alex Thiele, Benton; a stepson, Ryan Doty, Tamms; three granddaughters, (Pa Paw's special little angels), and Erica and Mariah Thiele, Benton, and Harli Rhine, Benton; a grandson, Tyler James Thiele (Schofield), Benton; a daughter, Daphne Thiele, Benton; his mother, Norma Thiele, Benton; two brothers, Jeffery (Jeremy) Thiele, Benton, and Gary and wife Linda (Mark and Paula)Thiele, Florida; father-in-law and mother-in-law, John and Gail Scott, Benton; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Gina (Ashley) Scott, Benton, Dean and wife Laura (Scott, Courtney, Mary Rose) Scott, Itasca, Ill., Sandy and husband Kenny (Matt, Luke) Blackman, Benton, Coleen (Jason, Jennifer) Hobbie, Benton, and Leo (Brian, Nicole, Brittany) Scott, Benton.
Jimmy also left his very special friends, Melvin and Linda Sullivan, Bob and Mike Buntin, Karen Glenn, and his special girl, Lindsay Biddle, his dog, Precious (daddy's lil buddy), his M.T. Fab boys, Ricky (I love you sweetheart) Shuey, and Scott (Snot) Davis. Thanks a million, boys. He loved you all so much.
Mr. Thiele was preceded in death by his father and very special friends, Earnie Glenn, and Roy Dean and Merideth Osborn. And a special Jim Thiele salute to all.
A special private memorial service will be held at a later date. Hobbs-Johnson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
He will be greatly missed. WE LOVE YOU JIMMY!
