Burial is at Rose Lawn Memorial Estate, Moline. Memorial may be made to First Christian Church, Moline. Russell was born November 15, 1916 in Bloomington, IL to Olen and Ola Ahern Jackson. He married
Margaret Worthington on December 24, 1940 in Knoxville, IL. Russell worked in the claims department for 40 years at Dohrn Transportation retiring in 1981. Russell was a member of First Christian Church, Moline. He enjoyed traveling South for the winter, golfing and square dancing.

Richard Gene Barnett, 85 of Rock Island died January 15, 2005 at Trinity Medical Center, Rock Island. At his request, there will be no visitation or services at this time. Esterdahl Mortuary, Ltd. is assisting the family. Mr. Barnett was born October 9, 1919 in Rock Island to Frederick H. and Hanna A. (Grippe) Barnett. He married
Bette J. Mattson in 1944. Mr. Barnett served in U.S. Army during World War II and was decorated with a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart. He was the former Civilian Executive at the Rock Island Arsenal and received the Civilian Meritorious Service Award. Mr. Barnett was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the National Rifle Association, and the American Defense Preparedness Association. Mr. Barnett enjoyed boating and spending time with his family, especially his grandson, Jack, with whom he shared a very special relationship.

Louise M. Engelhardt age 100, of Milan, died Tuesday, January 11, 2005 in Moline, IL. Per her wishes her body will be donated to medical science. Louise was born January 5, 1905 in Luana, IA to George M. and Rena Shaffer Lambert. She married
Irving G. Engelhardt on April 9, 1930 in Luana, IA. He preceded her in death on March 2, 1982. Louise was an addresser for 10 years at Desauliners Printing Co., retiring in 1957. She also worked as a hairdresser. Louise was a member of the Social Club of Spring Valley for many years. She enjoyed her African Violets and reading. She also loved big band music, and people. Her favorite color was lavendar. She played high school basketball for Luana Consolidated School from 1919-1924. She still enjoyed playing catch with family and friends with a soft basketball.

Loretta Martha Dempsey, 87 of Davenport died January 10, 2005 at Genesis West Campus, Davenport. Per her wishes, Mrs. Dempsey has been cremated. Loretta was born July 23, 1917 in Brookfield, IL to Frank and Anna Miller Bluder. She married
Jackson D. Dempsey on September 16, 1939 in Brookfield. He preceded her in death on April 7, 2003. Loretta was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Brookfield and a Sunday School Teacher, and secretary for St John’s Lutheran Church in LaGrange, IL. She attended St. John’s Church in East Moline. She enjoyed playing cards, especially Gin Rummy, and doing puzzles in the newspaper. She was an avid reader of Women’s World, and the newspapers in LaGrange and Brookfield, IL.

Robert Nelson on August 8, 1983. He preceded her in death on September 28, 1989. Mabel worked for 44 years for Norcross, retiring in 1996. Mabel was a member of the Community Presbyterian Church in Sherrard, the Sherrard PW, and the Rock Island Moose Auxilary. She enjoyed cooking, baking and her dog Hiedi.

Lowell was born June 17, 1899 in Moline to Emil J. Johnson and Emma M. Carlson. His mother died in 1905, and he was raised by his father and step-mother, Winnie P. Halgren. He was married
to Marguerite Wilson. He attended high school at Western Military Academy in Alton, IL; and the University of Illinois, College of Business, graduating in 1923. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during World War I. He was a Vice President of Bowey’s Inc. of Chicago, a chocolate/dairy product distributor, in charge of the Dari-Rich Western Division, and retired in the 1960’s when the company was sold. He was a member of the Scottish Rite Valley of Chicago, American Legion and First Lutheran Church, Moline. He enjoyed traveling, and visited many European countries and Japan. One of his last trips was to Sweden when he was 91. He is survived by his step-sister, Blanche Krueger, Morton, IL, and step-niece, Holli Cook of Peoria, IL.

Bob was born January 26, 1933 in Waterloo, IA the son of Charles and Lois Pearle Henry Hoover. He married
Marjorie Cherrington on June 20, 1951 in Rock Island. Bob was employed as a semi driver for Spector Freight Co. and Central Transport retiring on January 31, 1990 after 34 years. Bob then worked as a semi driving instructor with Scott Community College both in the classroom and in the semi, he also did volunteer work with the Robert Young Center. He was a 1950 graduate of Rock Island High School and was a member of Teamsters Local 371. In his free time he enjoyed hunting, fishing and taking care of his animals. Suvivors include Wife 4 Children Bob (Becky) Hoover, Moline Mark (-) Hoover, Oak Creek, WI Amber (Jeff) Moritz, Rock Island Kim (-) Quinn, Washington, IA 12 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren Mother, Lois Pearle Hoover, Rock Island He was preceded in death by his father. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Oppenheimer and his staff as well as Trinity Pathway Hospice especially the care given by Linda and Barb.
