Robert L. Anderson, age 84, of Moline, died Friday, July 6, 2007 at Trinity Pathway Hospice in Bettendorf, IA. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m.Tuesday, July 10, 2007 at Beulah Presbyterian Church. Visitation is from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Monday at Kirk, Huggins & Esterdahl Funeral Home, Ltd. 1301-4th Street, Orion. Burial is in Rural Township cemetery at Beulah Church with military honors conducted by Orion American Legion Post # 255 and Orion VFW Post # 143. Memorials may be made to Beulah Presbyterian Church, National Multiple Sclerosis Society or Trinity Pathway Hospice. Robert L. Anderson was born September 20, 1922 at the family farm in Rural Twp. (Coal Valley) Rock Island County, to Gust Anderson and Adelia Peterson Anderson. He graduated from Orion High School. He was a veteran of WW II, serving as a Bombardier-Navigator in the Army Air Force and spending time as a POW at Stalag Luft III in Germany. In 1945 he married Barbara Bollman at the Beulah Presbyterian Church. After the war he received a BS degree from Iowa State University, Ames, and taught agriculture in Swea City, IA, until recalled to active duty for the Korean War. Following release from the service, he returned to the farm at Coal Valley, where he farmed until 1972 when he became disabled because of Multiple Sclerosis. He was a life member of American AX-POW’s, Orion American Legion, Orion VFW, Paralyzed Veterans of America, Disabled American Veterans, Military Order of the Purple Heart, Caterpillar Club of WW II, Stalag Luft III group. and the Crusaders – 386 Bomb Group, 9th Air Force. He also served on the Orion Board of Education, as a director of the Rock Island County Farm Bureau, director of Illinois Health Improvement Association and an elected official of Rural Township. He was a member of Sherman Lodge #535, Orion, and while a lifetime member, served as trustee and elder of the Beulah Presbyterian Church. He is survived by his wife of 62 years and five children. Cheryl (Kent) Yauch, Elmhurst, IL, Linda (Albert) Jovanovic, Grayslake, IL., Paul Anderson, Milan, IL., Tim (Daisy) Anderson, Coal Valley and Adele Coulter, Burlington, IA. Sisters Dorothy Nelson of Rock Island and Marion Wilson, Coal Valley. Grandchildren: Lauren and Sandra Yauch, David and Andrea Jovanovic, Jennifer and Estefany Anderson; Alexis and Jessica Coulter, and a great-granddaughter Katherine Rachael Balster. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Walter Anderson, Rural Township.

Arvid Joel Herstedt, 97, of East Moline died July 7, 2007 at Trinity Medical Center, Rock Island. Funeral services will be 11a.m. Saturday, July 14, 2007 with a visitation one hour prior at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. 6601-38th Ave., Moline. Burial will be in Rose-Lawn Memorial Estate. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a favorite charity in his memory. Arvid was born December 2, 1909 in Moline to Joel and Carolina (Duvander) Herstedt. He married Mary Yuhas on October 23, 1937. She preceded him in death on December 30, 2003. Arvid was a pattern maker for John Deere for 46 ˝ years retiring on March 31, 1972. He was a skilled craftsman who enjoyed his home workshop, rebuilding bicycles, lawn mowers and anything else along with helping others and making and repairing things for them. He liked hunting, fishing, gardening and enjoyed all nature. He especially enjoyed his family and friends.

Geraldine M. Lehmann, 89 of Moline formerly of Lake Zurich, IL died July 9, 2007 at Trinity Pathway Hospice in Bettendorf, IA. A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Friday, July 13, 2007 at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601-38th Ave., Moline. Memorials may be made to St. Peters United Church of Christ, Lake Zurich where she was a long time member. Geraldine was born June 27, 1918 in Gridley, IL to Earl and Maude (Newnam) Meeker. She married William Lehmann, Sr. on December 29, 1939 at her parent’s home at 807 S. Locust, Pontiac, IL. Geraldine attended University of Illinois where she was a member of the Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, reading and was a dog lover and avid Chicago Bulls fan.

Don “Dan” Williams, age 74 of Orion, died Friday, July 13, 2007 at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 17, 2007 at Beulah Presbyterian Church, Orion. Visitation is from 4-8 p.m. Monday at Kirk, Huggins & Esterdahl Funeral Home, Ltd., Orion. Burial is in Western Township cemetery, Orion with military honors conducted by the Orion American Legion Post #255. Memorials may be made to Beulah Presbyterain Church. Donald F. Williams was born May 16, 1933 in Moline the son of Frank and Genevieve (Turnbull) Williams. He attended Coal Valley High School and graduated from Orion High School in 1952. He married Jacqueline Kline on June 2, 1957 at Beulah Presbyterian Church and recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Don was a supervisor of the prototype assembly for John Deere Harvester Product Development where he traveled over 40 states testing prototype combines. He retired in 1985 after 29 years. Upon retiring he worked serveral jobs including Warkins Farm Repair, Erie, IL. Don was an U.S. Army veteran serving during the Korea Conflict. He was a member of the Orion American Legion Post # 255 and the Walter P. Chrysler Club. He collected and restored antique tractors and steam engines. He enjoyed gardening. Don was known as a helpful friend and neighbor, and willing to assist people anyway that he could. He is survived by:

Harry Dean Bollman
May 25, 1937 - July 20, 2007
Denver, CO

(Harry) Dean Bollman, age 70, died Friday, July 20, 2007 in an automobile accident in Lakewood, CO. Private graveside services and internment will be in Rural Township cemetery, near Beulah Presbyterian Church, Rock Island County, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the American Cancer Society Chapter of Rock Island County. Kirk, Huggins & Esterdahl Funeral Home, Orion, is assisting with the arrangements. Dean met Diane Lee Edison in Denver while they were students at the University of Denver. They were married in Denver on May 3, 1959. Dean was employed with the Federal Government's Office of Personnel Management for nearly 30 years. During this time he and his family lived in Denver; Virginia, Hawaii, and Maryland. His final work years were spent in the suburbs of Atlanta, GA, where he resided until Diane’s death ten years ago. He then moved to Maryland to be with his oldest son, daughter-in-law, and grandchildren until last year when he returned to the Denver area to be near his special friend, Jean Robenstein, who he re-connected with at his 50th high school reunion. He was born on May 25, 1937 to Dorothy and Harry Bollman on the family farm on County Farm Road south of Coal Valley. Dean attended country Schools in Rural Township until the family moved to Loveland, CO, in 1949. His parents returned to the farm in 1957. Dean was preceded in death by his father (1968), his mother (1984), and his brother-in-law, Robert Anderson (2007). Dean will be buried in the family plot next to his beloved Diane. Dean is survived by his sister, Barbara Anderson of Moline; his sons, Douglas Dean Bollman of Gaithersburg, MD, and Andrew David Bollman of Durham, NC; his daughter-in-law, Marcia Bollman; two grandchildren, Melissa and Brian Bollman; and 3 nieces and 2 nephews.

Eleanora Howard, 90, formerly of Moline, passed away at her daughter’s home in Georgia, Friday, July 20, 2007. Funeral services will be 11a.m. Thursday, July 26, 2007 at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. 6601-38th Ave, Moline. Visitation will be Wednesday from 3-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to the Arthritis Foundation and the American Lung Association. Eleanora was born May 4, 1917 in Chicago, IL to Benjamin and Martha Margolis Feldman. She was married for 56 years to Cecil Howard. Cecil passed away May 31, 1998. Eleanora was employed for 26 years by Moline Dispatch Publishing Co. as an inserter. She also was employed for 18 years as a crossing guard at Garfield Grade School in Moline. She was a lifetime member of Zal Caldron No. 4. and a member of the retirees of International Harvester in East Moline, where her husband worked. She loved spending time with her family, playing bingo, dancing and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. She had just spent her 90th birthday with family and friends in Georgia in May.

Visitation is Monday from 4:00-8:00 p.m. with a rosary at 4:00 p.m. at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. 6601-38th Avenue, Moline. Burial is in the new St. Joseph cemetery, Iowa City, IA. Memorials may be made to Craig Hospital, Engelwood, CO. or a charity of choice. John was born September 7, 1953 in Iowa City, IA, son of Clement and Cecilia (Kurtz) Shay. John was currently employed as an Information Technology Analyst for John Deere. John was a member of the Quad-City Skyraiders R.C. Club and publisher of their monthly newsletter. He enjoyed photography, computers, and was a sports car enthusiast.

Marian A. Oleson, 92, of Moline died July 23, 2007 at Trinity Medical Center, Rock Island. Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m. Thursday, July 26, 2007 with a visitation one hour prior at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601-38th Ave., Moline with Pastor Christopher Barnes officiating. Burial will be in Riverside cemetery, Moline. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Marian Oleson Memorial Fund. Marian was born August 9, 1914 in Cordova, IL to George and Minnie Hunt Shumate. She married Wendell Oleson on June 19, 1942 at Moline Gospel Temple. He preceded her in death in 1997. Marian taught school for many years, starting in a one-room schoolhouse in Albany, later doing substitute teaching and bedside tutoring in Rock Island County. Marian was a member of First Evangelical Free Church, Moline. She was dedicated to her Lord and family. She loved her kids and grandkids very much.
