Lyman Crumrin

MARSHALL, Ill. - Lyman Crumrin, 81, of rural Marshall died at 12:35 p.m. Sunday, May 30, 2004, in Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. He was a retired farmer. He was born July 17, 1922, in West Union, to Fred Crumrin and Lottie Snavely Crumrin. Survivors include his wife, Geneva Davison Crumrin, whom he married July 26, 1944; one daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Bob Simpson of Casey; one son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Nancy Crumrin of rural Martinsville; three grandchildren, Daryn Crumrin and his wife Paula, Karyn Crumrin, and Amy Crumrin and her fianc/ Brandon Daugherty; and two great-grandchildren, Allison Crumrin and Elizabeth Crumrin. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Paul Crumrin and Robert Crumrin; and one sister, Elizabeth Warnock. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, serving from February 1943 to June 1945 and earning the rank of staff sergeant. He was a nose gunner on a B-24 bomber, and a member of the 453rd Bomber Group, 2nd Air Division of the 8th Air Force. He was a member of Marshall Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5975 and Post 1130 American Legion in West Union. He was a longtime member and past president of Clark County Farm Bureau, had served on the Illinois State Farm Bureau (IAA) board, served on the Norris Electric board of directors, was a member and past president of Farm Service board, was a member of Clark County Pork Producers, the National Rifle Association, and served for a number of years as a 4-H leader. Services are 11 a.m. Thursday in Prust-Hosch Funeral Chapel in West Union, with the Rev. Billie Ray Ulrey officiating. Burial is in Ohio cemetery, northwest of West Union, with graveside military rites by VFW Post 5975 and American Legion Post 1130. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and 7 a.m. until services Thursday. The family requests that memorial contributions may be made to The Carle Development Foundation to help support the Carle Hospital Auxiliary Guest House or to the Ohio cemetery to assist with its upkeep.

Donald L. Redman

FLAT ROCK, Ill. - Donald L. Redman, 65, of Flat Rock died at 11 p.m. Saturday, May 29, 2004, in his home after a year's battle with mesothelioma cancer. He was born Aug. 26, 1938, in New Hebron to Wilson Redman and Lucille Heimrich Redman. Survivors include his wife, Nedra Outcalt Redman; one daughter, Ginger Dunlap; one son, Brad Redman; six grandchildren; one stepgrandson; one sister, Patsy Redman; two brothers, Harry Redman and Ed Redman; and several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends. Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Goodwine Funeral Home, with the Revs. Gene Beard and Todd Outcalt officiating. Burial is in Tohill cemetery, rural Flat Rock. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.

Mary Esther Janney

MARTINSVILLE, Ill. - Mary Esther Janney, 96, of Martinsville died at 5:25 p.m. Tuesday, June 8, 2004, in Birchwood Nursing Home in Casey. She was retired from the TRW factory in Marshall, Ill. She was born May 10, 1908, in Grandville Township, Jasper County, to Hosea H. Orr and Melissa May Lingafelter Orr. She married Dean Janney on Nov. 27, 1927, and he died on May 3, 1969. Survivors include one son, Ron Janney and wife Maxine of Martinsville; one daughter, Melissa Miller and her husband Donald of Clay City, Ind.; two daughters-in-law, Marlene Kendall of Martinsville and Dorothy Janney of Casey; 13 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by five sons; one infant, John Janney, Dick Janney, Marion Janney and Bill Janney. She was a member of the Martinsville Baptist Church. Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday in Greenwell Funeral Home with the Rev. Billie Ray Ulrey officiating. Burial is in St. Paul cemetery, Clark County. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. today in the funeral home. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Martinsville Bible Church Building Fund or the Martinsville District Library. Envelopes will be available in the funeral home.

Dawn Marie Robinson

PARIS, Ill. - Dawn Marie Robinson, 35, died at 2:27 a.m. June 7, 2004, in Paris Community Hospital. She was born in Cristobol, Panama on Feb. 4, 1969, to Larry Felgenhauer Sr. and Sondra Kay Walters Felgenhauer. She was preceded in death by her husband, Randy Robinson, in 1997. Survivors include her father of Paris, a daughter, Kyrah Ann Felgenhauer; one brother, Larry Felgenhauer Jr., of Charleston. She also was preceded in death by her mother in 1996. Services are 10 a.m. Friday in Mattox-Wood Funeral Home in Terre Haute, Ind. Burial is in Roselawn Memorial Park in Terre Haute. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.

Nicki Jo Melton Chesterman

MARSHALL, Ill. - Nicki Jo Melton Chesterman, 59, of Sullivan, Ind., and formerly of Marshall, died at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, June 5, 2004, in Terre Haute Regional Hospital following a brief illness. She was a licensed practical nurse. She was born Aug. 23, 1944, to Murray A. Melton Sr. and Norma Lamb Melton. Survivors include her husband, Tim Chesterman; two daughters, Deanna Davis and her husband Lee of Marshall, and Debbie Murphy Kalb of Mount Vernon; her parents of Marshall; two grandsons, Lee "Boo" Davis of Marshall and Levi Bushue of Mount Vernon; one sister, Rebecca Melton of Fairview Heights; two brothers, William Melton and his wife Janet of Marshall, and Murray Melton Jr. and his wife Jane Ann of West York; several nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by Victor Combs, Karen Combs and an infant grandson. She graduated from Ivy Tech Nursing School in December 1992. She was formerly employed at Burnsides Nursing Home, and had been employed the past five years at Wabash Valley Correctional Institute in Carlisle, Ind. She was an active member of Crossroads Community Church in Sullivan. Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday in Prust-Hosch Funeral Chapel in West Union, with the Rev. Eddie Hammond officiating. Burial is in Bradbury cemetery, east of West York. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. today and 7 a.m. until services Tuesday. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, with envelopes available at the funeral home.

Esther B. Deisher

WEST UNION, Ill. - Esther B. Deisher, 90, of Marshall, and formerly of West Union, died Monday, June 14, 2004, at 1:43 a.m. in Union Hospital in Terre Haute, Ind. She was a homemaker. She was born April 29, 1914, in Wilshire, Ohio to Franklin Nead and Bessie Niles Nead. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Sherman Deisher, and her second husband, Arthur Deisher. Survivors include an adopted daughter, Sheila Gray of Hopewell, Va.; two stepsons, Ronald Deisher of Marshall and Jack Deisher of Olathe, Kan.; three stepdaughters, Lorena Karnes of Dundas, Mary Black Campbell of Olney, and Judith Walters of Paxton; a brother, Paul Nead of Lawrenceville; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She also was preceded in death by her parents; seven sisters; and two brothers. She was a longtime member of the West Union Church of the Nazarene. She had served as a lay minister during several time periods in her life. Services are 10 a.m. Thursday in Prust-Hosch Funeral Chapel in West Union, with Pastor Penny Brown officiating. Burial is in Haven Hill cemetery in Olney. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. today and Thursday from 7 a.m. until service time. The family requests that memorial contributions may be made to the West Union Church of the Nazarene.

Martha Ann McDaniel

CASEY, Ill. - Martha Ann McDaniel, 80, of Casey, died at 3:05 p.m. Monday, June 14, 2004, in Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center in Mattoon. From 1947 to 1992 she worked with her husband, William McDaniel, at the McDaniel Meat Processing Plant in Casey. They were married on Feb. 16, 1942, and he preceded her in death on July 31, 1994. She was born Nov. 4, 1923, in Crawford County, to Thomas Bline and Clarelu Bennett Bline. Survivors include three daughters, DeAnn Ramsey and her husband Wayne of Casey, Cathy Montgomery and her husband Michael of Flanagan, and Cheri Calvert and her husband Brent of Anderson, Ind.; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by twin sister Margaret Orndorff; sisters, Eleanor Huddleston, Lorna Blood, Laurel Howe and Norma Miller; and brothers Norman Bline, Larry Bline and an infant brother. She was a member of the Casey United Methodist Church. Services are 2 p.m. Wednesday in Greenwell Funeral Home in Martinsville. Burial is in Washington Street cemetery in Casey. Visitation is Wednesday, noon until services. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers donations may be made to Casey Township Library, 307 E. Main St., Casey, IL 62420

Katharine M 'Kitty' Ellshoff

MARSHALL, Ill. - Katharine M. "Kitty" Ellshoff, 73, of Marshall died at 9:10 p.m. Friday, June 11, 2004, in Burnsides Nursing Home. She was a homemaker. She was born Oct. 12, 1930, in Washington, D.C., to Eli H. Smith and Josephine T. Marshall Smith. Survivors include her husband, Harold Ellshoff, whom she married June 25, 1950, in Washington, D.C.; one son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Judy Ellshoff of Marshall; one daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Mark Mennes of St. Louis; a granddaughter, Kimberly Ellshoff; two great-grandchildren, Katelyn Ellshoff and Kobe Baugher; a brother-in-law, Franklin Ellshoff and his wife Joy of Mooresville, Ind.; and a sister-in-law, Mary Lou Cornelison of Marshall. She was preceded in death by her parents. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and UMW Women's Circle. She loved cats. Services are 1 p.m. Monday in Prust-Hosch Funeral Chapel in West Union, with the Rev. John Davis officiating. Burial is in Marshall cemetery. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. today and 7 a.m. until services Monday.

Patrick J. Quinn

ROBINSON, Ill. - Patrick J. Quinn, 84, of Robinson died at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 15, 2004, in Crawford Memorial Hospital in Robinson. He was born Aug. 17, 1919, in Sterling, Scotland, to John Quinn and Bridget Brushford Quinn. Survivors include his wife, Mary Jocelyn Clump Quinn; his son and daughter-in-law, Alex and Roberta Quinn of Robinson; his granddaughter, Maryann, of Robinson; two sisters, Patsy Callahan of Selden, N.Y., and Betty Szatynski of Yonkers, N.Y; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Francis and Patricia Quinn of Apex, N.C. and Joseph and Ellen Quinn of Montgomery, Texas; one brother-in-law, George Springman, of West Palm Beach, Fla.; two sisters-in-law, Lillian Quinn of Cicero, N.Y., and Audrey Quinn of Sun City, Ariz. Graveside services are 10 a.m. Saturday in Newlin cemetery in Robinson, with the Rev. Jeff Goeckner officiating. Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson is in charge of arrangements.

Robert E. Sutton

MARSHALL, Ill. - Robert E. Sutton, 49, of Marshall died at 7 a.m. Tuesday, June 15, 2004, in Terre Haute, Ind. He was born Aug. 28, 1954, in Paris to Russell "Bud" Sutton Jr. and Avis Malcom Sutton. He is survived by his parents, of Marshall; companion, Katie Sutton of Marshall; his grandmother, Iliff Malcom of Martinsville; three brothers, Dale Sutton of Paris, Jim Sutton and Jerry Sutton of Marshall; three sisters, Christie Trover of St. Bernice, Ind., Candy Sutton of Redmon and Cheryl Stidham of Paris; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by a son, Jason Sutton, on March 24, 2004; and one brother, Anthony Sutton, on July 1, 2001. He was a member of the Plasters Union in Champaign and a graduate of Marshall High School. Funeral services are 1 p.m. Friday in Pearce Funeral Home in Marshall, with the Rev. Mark Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Vermillion cemetery in Edgar County. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. this evening and 7 a.m. until services on Friday in the funeral home.

Glenn R. Hammond

MARSHALL, Ill. - Glenn R. Hammond, 98, of Marshall died Sunday June 20, 2004, at 10:25 a.m. in Burnsides Nursing Home. He retired in 1969 from Marathon Oil Company where he served as chief products dispatcher in Findlay. He was born in Clark County on May 23, 1906, to Roy C. Hammond and Myrtle Massey Hammond. He is survived by a daughter, Phyllis Staub of Marshall; a son, Clayton D. Hammond of Paris; 12 grandchildren; one stepgrandchild; several great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren. Mr. Hammond was preceded in death by a daughter, Beverly K. McNeil; one grandson; and one sister. He was a 1923 graduate of Martinsville High School and attended Rose Polytechnic in Terre Haute. He loved to play golf. Funeral services are 2 p.m. Wednesday in Pearce Funeral Home in Marshall, with the Rev. David Deal officiating. Burial will follow in Bean cemetery, rural Martinsville. Visitation is 12:30 p.m. until services Wednesday in the funeral home.

Donald Lee Hutson

CASEY, Ill. - Donald Lee Hutson, 57, of Casey died Sunday, June 20, 2004, at 9:35 a.m. in Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center. He was employed by Cochonour Farms for more than 15 years. He was born Sept. 26, 1946, in Effingham to Donald Jack Hutson and Lela Pearl Chapman Hutson. He married Cynthia Jeanne Freeman on Sept. 26, 1978. Their daughter, Katrina Leah Hutson, was born Sept. 19, 1979. He is survived by his wife, Cynthia, of Casey; father and stepmother, Evelyn, of Clark Center; daughter, Katrina, and her fiance, Trevor Wayne Ramsey of Terre Haute, Ind.; two sisters, Elena Myles and her husband Charles of Marshall and Carla Wimsett and her husband George of Paris; and one brother, Tim Hutson and his wife Margaret of Clark Center. He was preceded in death by his mother in August 1988. He graduated from Newton High School in 1964. He was a member of the Casey Moose Lodge and the National Home Gardening Club, and he enjoyed singing karaoke. Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Markwell & Son Funeral Home in Casey with burial in Washington Street cemetery in Casey. A wake service immediately follows burial in Missionary Baptist Church in Marshall. Visitation is 9:30 a.m. Thursday until service time in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to Casey Township Library and Clark County 4-H Extension Service.
