Cody Allen Sturges of Algonquin
Services for Cody Allen Sturges, 8, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Algonquin.
Born March 28, 1990, in McHenry, he died Friday, March 19, 1999, at home.
Burial will be private.
Survivors include his parents, Allen B. and Beth (nee Norgrenn) Sturges of Algonquin; maternal grandmother, Jacqueline Norgrenn of Algonquin; and brother, Raymond J. `Woody' Sturges of Algonquin.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Monday, at Wait Ross Allanson Funeral Chapel, Algonquin.
In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations be made to `BEAR NECESSITIES'.

Bill Syring formerly of Libertyville
Bill Syring, 81, formerly of Libertyville, died Tuesday, March 2, 1999, at his home in New Port Richey, Fla.
Mr. Syring was active with the First Presbyterian Church of Seven Springs, Fla. Among his special achievements, he had been voted Most Valuable Player of the Big 10 in 1939 when he was apitcher on the baseball team of Northwestern University.
Survivors include his wife, Peg Syring; daughter and son-in-law, Linda Syring Cotter and Valle Cotter of Libertyville; son, John Syring of O'Fallon, Ill.; and grandchildren, Todd and Tracie Cotter, both of Libertyville.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Diane K. Syring, in 1969.

Violet Thamm of Friendship Village, Schaumburg
Services for Violet Thamm, 93, will be held at10 a.m. Tuesday, atMichael's Funeral Home, 800 S. Roselle Rd., Schaumburg.
Born Feb. 4, 1906, in Maywood, Ill., she died Saturday, March 20, 1999, at Alexian Brothers Medical Center. Burial will be in Arlington Cemetery, Elmhurst.
She was the wife of the late Lester; mother of Robert, Ronald (Judith), Gerald and the late Marlene and Carolyn; grandmother of six; and great-grandmother of four.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Monday, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.

William `Gene' Thurston of Naperville
Services for William `Gene' Thurston, 58, will be held Tuesday, at Community United Methodist Church, 20 N. Center St., Naperville. (The time is pending).
Born Nov. 16, 1943, in Muskogee, Okla., he died Friday, March 19, 1999, at home.
Private interment will be in Naperville Cemetery.
Raised in Parsons, Kan., he had been a Naperville resident since 1982. Mr. Thurston was regional sales manager for Vicon Financial Services, and a member of the Naperville Country Club and Naperville Garden Club.
Survivors include his wife, JoAnn of Naperville; daughter, Lorri Thurston of Naperville; and son, Craig (Holli) of Naperville.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville.

Ethel Toomey of Roselle
Funeral services for Ethel Toomey (nee Mullaney), 72, will begin at 9 a.m. Monday, at Salerno's Rosedale Chapels, 450 W. Lake St. (3/4 mile west of Bloomingdale/Roselle Road), Roselle, followed by a 10 a.m. Mass at St. Walter Church.
She was the beloved wife of the late Ralph; devoted mother of Michael (Rene), Maureen (James) Drexler, Kevin (Cathleen), Timothy (Beverly), Terrence (Linda) and the late Melissa (Jeff) Adelman and Dennis; loved grandmother of 15; and great-grandmother of one.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. today, at the funeral chapel.

Stanley W. Williams of Libertyville
Services for Stanley W. Williams, 81, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, at Burnett-Dane Funeral Home, 120 W. Park Ave. (Route 176), Libertyville.
Born Feb. 16, 1918, in Libertyville, he passed away Saturday, March 20, 1999, at Condell Medical Center in Libertyville. Interment will be in Lakeside Cemetery.
A lifelong resident of Libertyville, he was a veteran of the Army, having served in the Asian and Pacific Theaters during World War II. He was a member of the Libertyville American Legion Post #329.
Before his retirement, he had been employed by the Fiat-Allis Corporation in Deerfield.
Surviving are his daughter, Joanne (Han) Kim of Apex, N. C.; granddaughter, Alice (Vincent) Newcomb of Windham, N. H.; and great-grandchildren, Laura and Kathryn.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Margaret Williams; wife, Dorothy on Aug. 28, 1980; sisters, Frances and Mary; and brothers, Charles and Carl.
Friends of the family may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, at the funeral home.

Agnes G. Wrobel of Elk Grove Village
Prayers for Agnes G. Wrobel (nee Kasper), 88, formerly of Chicago, will be said at 9:30 a.m. Monday, at Grove Memorial Chapel, 1199 S. Arlington Heights Road (three blockssouth of Biesterfield Road), Elk Grove Village, followed by a 10 a.m. Mass at St. Julian Eymard Church.
Mrs. Wrobel died Thursday, March 18, 1999, at ManorCare Nursing Home in Elk Grove Village. Interment will be in St. Adalbert Cemetery.
Mrs. Wrobel retired from the Chicago school district after 20 years of service.
She was a former member of St. John Berchman Church in Chicago.
She was the wife of the late Joseph J. Wrobel Sr.; mother of Joseph J. Jr. (Lori) Wrobel, Louise C. (Edward) Pudlo, Robert W. (Linda) Wrobel and the late Beatrice Ann; sister of 10 late siblings; grandmother of David, Scott, Mary Jo, Susan, Edward, Jennifer and Sara; great-grandmother of nine; and aunt andgreataunt of many.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. today, at the funeral chapel.

She was the beloved wife of the late John Heidenreich; dear mother of the Rev. Robert Heidenreich, pastor of St. Benedict Parish and Jim (Karen) `Kay' Heidenreich; and fond grandmother of Jacob, Teri and J. J. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of services at 10 a.m. Wednesday, at the funeral home.

Thomas Edward Brand of Lake Villa
Funeral services for Thomas Edward Brand, 47, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, at Strang Funeral Chapel and Crematorium, Ltd., 410 E. Belvidere Rd., Grayslake. Rev. Robert S. Awes from St. Timothy Lutheran Church of Chicago will officiate.
Born Dec. 16, 1951, in Chicago, he passed away suddenly Thursday, March 18, 1999, at Condell Medical Center in Libertyville. Interment will be in Highland Memorial Park Cemetery, Libertyville.
He had made his home in Lake Villa since 1994, formerly living in McHenry.
He was employed at Firstar Bank in Fox Lake for 12 years as hub manager and will be greatly missed by his devoted staff.
Involved with numerous friends on LMB Softball Team in Mundelein, with a great love for Rick Neff. Thomas also bowledwith Continental Men's League at Hawthorn Lanes for many years and was an avid fisherman and golfer. He loved gardening and enjoyed working with his plants.
He leaves his loving wife, Rachel (nee Evans), whom he wed on April 2, 1992, in Libertyville; children, Adam Brand of Mundelein, Zora (Todd) Levandowski of Antioch and Vance (Sonja) Wollmuth of Lake Villa; grandson, Austin Quentin Wollmuth, whom he dearly loved; parents, Ronald and June Brand of Chicago; brother, James (Donna) Brand of Elgin; devoted aunts, Ruth and Shirley Venn of Chicago; uncles, Billy and Art (Marge) Brand; and in-laws, Erland and Joanne Johnson of Hainesville, Laura Evans and family, Scott (Gracie) Johnson and family, Tina Sweich and family and Timothy (Janet) Johnson.
Friends of the family may visit from 3 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, at the funeral chapel.

Bruce L. Brodie of Mount Prospect
Prayers for Bruce L. Brodie, 34, will be said at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, at Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road (four blocks south of Palatine Road), Arlington Heights, IL 60004, followed by a 10 a.m. Mass at St.
James Church, 831 N. Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights.
Born April 12, 1964, in Kenner, La., he died Friday, March 19, 1999, at Northwest Community Healthcare. Interment will be in All Saints Cemetery, Des Plaines.
Mr. Brodie was a manager in a steel warehouse. He will be missed by many friends and his music will be missed by all. He lived and spoke from his heart, and in our hearts is where we will most remember Bruce.
`You'll be with us forever--love all.' He was the loving husband of Mary J. (nee Alterini); dearest father of Olivia Jean and Colin Leland Brodie; dear son of Delores and Morris Brodie of Kenner, La.; loved brother of Glenn, Craig, Karen and Cheryl Brodie, all of Kenner; dear grandson of Eleanore Thuer of Kenner; and dear son-in-law of Jean and John Schmidt of Rolling Meadows. He is also survived by many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law and many nephews and nieces.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home.

James W. Champion Sr. of Batavia
Graveside services for James W. Champion Sr., 81, will be held at 1:30 p.m. today in East Batavia Cemetery.
Born July 24, 1917, in Chicago, to James and Olivia (nee Vann) Champion, he passed away Saturday, March 20, 1999, at Provena Pine View Care Center in St. Charles.
Mr. Champion owned and operated Nu-Era Plumbing in Batavia for more than 30 years until his retirement. As a young man he was an amateur prizeboxer, excelled in speed skating and enjoyed following baseball. He was a member of the Baha'i Faith Community in Batavia.
Surviving are his daughters, Carol (Eric) Dahlen of Bloomington, Minn., Tanya (Alan) Ratliff of St. Charlesand Tammy Champion of Florida; sons, James W. Champion Jr. of Florida and James W. Champion IV of Indiana; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces and cousins. He is also survived by his brother, Tracy Champion of Chicago; and sister, Margaret Johnson of Chicago.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Olivia Champion; and daughter, Lillian Stephens.
Contributions in his memory may be made to Fox Valley Hospice, P. O. Box 707, Geneva, IL 60134.
