MATTOON -- Robert D. Lawrence, 37, Tunnel Hill, Ga., formerly of Mattoon, died Saturday (March 15, 2003).

Services: 11 a.m. Thursday, Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home, Mattoon. Visitation: one hour before services. Burial: Dodge Grove Cemetery, Mattoon.

Shull

LINCOLN -- Jimmy Lee Shull, 39, St. Louis, Mo., formerly of Lincoln, died Friday (March 14, 2003).

Memorial services: 2 p.m. Sunday, Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home, Lincoln. No visitation. Memorials: to the family for funeral expenses.

LINCOLN -- Pamela Jean Sprague, 52, Salem, died Monday (March 17, 2003).

OLNEY -- James Virgil Stadge, 71, Olney, died Sunday (March 16, 2003). Arrangements incomplete: Summers-Kistler Funeral Homes, Olney.

Sterenberg

ASSUMPTION -- Margaret E. Sterenberg, 80, of Assumption died 2:30 a.m. Sunday (March 16, 2003) in St. Vincent's Hospital, Taylorville.

Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Assumption Christian Church, with the Rev. Shawn Lindsay officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Assumption. Arrangements are by Seitz Funeral Home, Assumption. Memorials: to the family.

Margaret was born Aug. 23, 1922, in Dixon, the daughter of Roy and Betty Mae Wise White. She had worked as a bank teller and was a member of Assumption Christian Church. She married Dwight Sterenberg in 1954, in Dixon.

Surviving are her husband; son, Dennis and wife Brenda Sterenberg of Assumption; granddaughters, Tanya and husband Steven Rhoades and Dawn Sterenberg, all of Assumption.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.

Tolen

MATTOON -- Rosemary Tolen, 87, Mattoon, died Wednesday (March 12, 2003).

Services: 2 p.m. Wednesday, Schilling Funeral Home, Mattoon. Visitation: one hour before services. Burial: Dodge Grove Cemetery, Mattoon.

NEW HOLLAND -- Margaret "Peg" Lowe Worth, 89, New Holland, retired state of Illinois secretary, died Sunday (March 16, 2003).

Memorial services: 1 p.m. Saturday, Holland & Barry Funeral Home, Lincoln. Visitation: one hour before services. Burial: Richmond Grove Cemetery, New Holland. Memorials: First United Methodist Church, Middletown.

EFFINGHAM -- Maribeth Azealia Starkey Winn, 74, Effingham, bookkeeper, died Monday (March 17, 2003).

Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, First Baptist Church, Effingham. Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Johnson Funeral Home, Effingham and one hour before services in the church. Burial: Oakridge Cemetery, Effingham. Memorials: First Baptist Church, American Diabetes. Association or donor's choice.

Burton

DECATUR -- Elsie Mae Burton, 71, Richmond, Va., formerly of Decatur, bookkeeper, died Saturday (March 15, 2003).

Services: 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, J.J. Moran & Sons Funeral Home. Visitation was Tuesday. Burial: Camp Butler National Cemetery, Riverton, with military rites. Memorials: Elsie Mae Burton Memorial Fund.

Collins

DECATUR -- Ralph D. Collins, 98, of Morton, formerly of Shady Knolls in East Peoria and Decatur, died 7:55 p.m. Saturday (March 15, 2003) in Rosewood Care Center, East Peoria.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday in First United Methodist Church, Peoria, with the Rev. Sigurd Bjorklund officiating. Visitation will be 5 to 6:30 p.m. Friday in Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home, Morton, with Masonic service following. Burial will be in American Mausoleum, Peoria. Memorials: Tazewell Animal Protection Society, 2675 Allentown Road, Pekin, IL 61554.

Mr. Collins was born Oct. 29, 1904, in Monmouth, the son of Ralph D. Collins Sr. and OraVine Hoffman Collins. He worked for A.E. Staley Mfg. Co. in Decatur for 16 years before contracting polio. In 1942, he started working for Caterpillar Inc. in Decatur, then transferred to East Peoria in 1946, where he was an artist in the service department before retiring in 1969. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Peoria, Masonic Lodge 1143 in East Peoria, Scottish Rite Bodies of Peoria, Peoria Art Guild, Caterpillar Retirees and a charter member of Decatur Yacht Club. He married Leona Overman on Sept. 11, 1924, in Springfield. She preceded him in death March 7, 1998.

Surviving are his son, Ronald "Dean" (Mary Beth) Collins of Morton; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

Crocker

FORSYTH -- John Richard "Rich" Crocker, 86, of Leesburg, Fla., formerly of Forsyth, died Sunday (March 16, 2003) in Lake Harris Health Care in Leesburg.

Services will be 11 a.m. Friday in First United Methodist Church. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Dawson & Wikoff West Wood Street Funeral Home. Burial will be in Macon County Memorial Park, Harristown. Memorials: First United Methodist Church.

Mr. Crocker was born June 27, 1916, in Quincy, the son of Julius and Grace Reeder Crocker. Rich was a specialty advertising representative for Shedd-Brown, U.O. Colson and the Goldman Associates for more than 50 years. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, where he served as Sunday school superintendent and with the choir. He was past president of the Decatur Evening Lions Club, a 50-year member of United Commercial Travelers and the Traveler Protection Association. He married Bonnie Russell on June 9, 1940. They moved to Leesburg in June 2002.

Surviving are his wife; son, Richard Ernest Crocker and wife Cheryl of Indiantown, Fla.; daughter, Alice Elizabeth Kuenzi and husband Jim of Leesburg; brother, Charles Crocker of Jacksonville; sisters, Grace Crocker and Lil Ahrens, both of Quincy; grandchildren, Mark Kuenzi and wife Lana of Garner, N.C.; Maribeth Carey of Winter Springs, Fla.; Dan Crocker and wife Lizanne of Spring, Texas; Marsha Young and husband Steve of Nicholasville, Ky.; great-grandchildren, Christian, Hannah, Micah, Brandon, Olivia, Leslie, Matthew and Andrew.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and three brothers.

Gallup

DECATUR -- M. Lorene Gallup, 81, Decatur, retired from the state of Illinois, died Sunday (March 16, 2003).

Services: 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, J.J. Moran & Sons Funeral Home. Visitation: one hour before services. Burial: Lester Barnett Cemetery. Memorials: St. John's Hospice Program.

King

DECATUR -- Marie Evelyn Wheeler King, 86, of Decatur entered into heaven to be with her Lord 10:02 a.m. Sunday (March 16, 2003) in St. Mary's Hospital, surrounded by her family.

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday in Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday. Entombment will be in Star of Hope Mausoleum in Graceland Cemetery. Memorials: to the family.

Mrs. King was born Dec. 14, 1916, in Oakley, the daughter of the Rev. Vyron and Faye Viola Jackson Wheeler. She was a sales clerk for more than 30 years and retired from Famous Department Store. She married Wilbur Murl King on April 15, 1934, in Clarksburg. He preceded her in death Oct. 25, 1989.

Surviving are her sons, Wilbur M. King Jr. and wife Vickie of Decatur; Ronald L. King and Roselyn of Magnolia, Ark.; sister, Doris Stout and husband Charles of Decatur; special sister-in-law, Velva Taylor of Lovington; grandchildren, Ronda Rawl, Regina Wood and Ronica Parker; stepgrandchildren, Teresa Hosman, Joe Dieckhaus and Lorri Dieckhaus; 13 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; special niece and nephews, Judy Lane, Bob Stout and David Stout; several nieces and nephews.
