ELDORADO -- Dr. Irvin L. Boyer, 88, died a 3:50 p.m. Monday, Aug. 5, 2002, at Ferrell Hospital. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, with Father Don Abell officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Margaret Green
DU QUOIN -- Margaret Green, 76, died at 7:15 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2002, at her home. Neal-McClure Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Lowell Foster
DONGOLA -- Lowell Foster, 90, of Mountain Home, Ark., formerly of Dongola, died at 3 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2002 at Care Manor in Mountain Home. Funeral services for Lowell Foster will be at 10 am Friday, Aug. 9, 2002 in the Crain Funeral Home in Dongola with Rev. Paul Sadler officiating. Interment will be in the American Legion Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 pm Thursday, Aug. 8, 2002 in Crain Funeral Home in Dongola.

Marie Ulrich Little
GRAND CHAIN -- Mrs. Marie Ulrich Little, 85, of Grand Chain, died at 2 p. m., Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2002, in the Southgate Care Center in Metropolis. Arrangements are incomplete at the Wilson Funeral Home in Karnak.

Richard Lee Carle
COULTERVILLE -- Richard Lee Carle, 53, of Mountain Home, Idaho, died Sunday, Aug. 4, 2002, in the Elmore Medical Center Hospital in Mountain Home. Richard was born Feb. 10, 1949, in Belleville, Ill., the son of Roy and Dorothy (McConnell) Carle. He married Donna Schorfheide and she survives. He attended school in Sparta, Ill. and worked for his father in a sawmill. Richard later worked as a laborer in construction and enjoyed fishing and shooting pool. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and for the past four years of his life spent his days taking care of his grandchildren. Richard is survived by his wife, Donna Carle; son Chad Carle and his wife Lisa and a daughter, Rebecca Carle, all of Mountain Home; two brothers, Eddy Carle of Salamar, Fla., and Charlie Carle of Sparta; three sisters, Vickie Kirkpatrick of Tilden, Ill., Candie Hamm of Hersher, Ill., and Brenda Juenger of Coulterville, Ill., and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Tom Carle, and his in-laws, Albert and Irene Schorfheide. Funeral services will be held 10 a. m., Saturday, Aug. 10, 2002 in the Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home in Coulterville, Ill. with Ron Mazander officiating. Friends may call at the Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home in Coulterville, Ill. Friday evening from 5-8 p.m. and again on the day of the services from 8-10 a.m.

William L. Akin
MURPHYSBORO -- William L. Akin, 85, of Colville, Wash., died Monday, July 29, 2002, in Spokane, Wash. Cremation graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, August 10, at Tower Grove Cemetery in Murphysboro, with Rev. Earl Renshaw officiating. Burial will follow in the cemetery. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association. Crawshaw Funeral Home in Murphysboro is in charge of local arrangements.

Betty Jo Kerley
VIENNA -- Betty Jo Kerley, 67, died at 8:10 p.m. August 4, 2002, at her home. She was born March 7, 1935, in Gallatin County, the daughter of Loren Tucker and Mae (Clark) Tucker-Lane. Betty was united in marriage to Otis E. Kerley on March 29, 1952, in the Flatwoods Community in Johnston City. He survives. In addition to her husband , Betty is survived by her mother Mae Lane of Ridgway; two daughters, Patricia A. and David Vaughn of Belknap and Teresa and David Hill of Karnak; two sons, Everett Kerley of Simpson and Leo and Teri Kerley of Vienna; eight grandchildren, Joy and Ted Beggs, Sara Vaughn, Seth Vaughn, Matt and Tracy Kerley, Kenneth Kerley, Jacob and Jennifer Kerley, Daniel Kerley and Michael Hill; two great grandsons, Nathan Kerley and Tanner Kerley; three brothers, Bill Lane of Golconda, Roy Lane of Texas and Mack Lane of Eldorado; three sisters, Melva Chapman of Ridgway, Delta Price of the Karbers Ridge community (Hardin County), and Josie Daugherty of Marion; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to her father, Betty was preceded in death by a brother, Larry Lane, and infant brother and an infant sister. Betty was a homemaker. She had worked at the Florsheim Shoe Factory in Anna. She was also employed by Olin-Matheson Corp. and had worked as a dietitian at Hillview Health Care in Vienna. Betty was a member of the Belknap Pentecostal Church. She enjoyed flower gardening and crocheting. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, August 8, at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna, with Rev. Kenneth Capps officiating. Burial will be in the Rock Springs Cemetery near Simpson. Visitation will be after 6 p.m. Wednesday, August 7, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Rock Springs Cemetery c/o Euel Sharp, Rock Springs Road, Simpson, IL 62985 or to Lourdes Hospice, 616 Market St., Metropolis, IL 62960. Memorial envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Alice M. Teffertiller
MCLEANSBORO -- Alice M. (Payne) Teffertiller, 79, died at 11 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 4, 2002, at Hamilton Memorial Nursing Center. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Harre Funeral Home, with Russell McNalty officiating. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Church of Christ, and active in the church's "Thursday School. " She attended Lockyears Business College in Evansville and assisted her husband, Bert, in the family business, Teffertiller's Clothing and Furniture Stores. Alice was born Aug. 30, 1922, in Ewing, the daughter of Willis and Jennie (Moore) Payne. On March 12, 1946, also in Ewing, she married Bert Teffertiller. She is survived by her husband; a son and daughter-in-law, Alan and Kathy Teffertiller; a daughter and son-in-law, Ruth and Harry Trauffer of Atlanta, Ga.; and five grandchildren, Angela Graves and husband, Don, of Memphis, Tenn., Sheri Smith and husband, Steve, of Memphis, Eric Johnson of Knoxville, Tenn., and Kara and Katlyn Teffertiller. She is preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Mary Hayes; and a brother, Jack Payne.

Aida Pagano
HERRIN -- Aida Pagano, 89, died at 3:38 p.m. Sunday, August 4, 2002, at the Park Avenue Health Care Center in Herrin. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, August 8, at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin, with Msgr. Ken Schaefer officiating. Burial will follow at San Carlo Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, August 7, at the funeral home. A prayer service will begin at 6 p.m. Memorials may be made to the San Carlo Cemetery Fund.

Lydia Sorado Mugge
HARRISBURG -- Lydia Sorado Mugge, 83, died at 12:47 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, 2002, at Carrier Mills Nursing Home. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Gaskins Funeral Home, with Dr. Roger Lyons officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Wednsday at the funeral home. Lydia was a homemaker. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, where she played piano for many years. She was also a member of Woman's Club and PEO. She was born Dec. 30, 1918, in Stonefort, the daughter of Verner E. Joyner and Ethel Gross. She married Hudson Mugge. He preceded her in death in 1988. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Michael and Diane Mugge of Murphysboro; two stepdaughters, Marilyn McGeorge Procter of Tuscon, Ariz., and Phyllis Bartlow of Litte Rock, Ark; eight grandchildren; and several great grandchildren.

Arlene Franklin
MOUNT VERNON -- Arlene Franklin, 73, died at 11:50 p.m. Friday, August 2, 2002, at the Jeffersonian Care Center. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 6, in the Chapel at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens, with Rev. Everett Lemay officiating. Those attending the service are asked to go directly to Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens on Wednesday. Burial will be in the Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the funeral hour on Wednesday in the Chapel at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens. Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon is in charge of arrangements.

Wanda Friedman
O'FALLON -- Wanda Jean Friedman, 67, died at 6:05 p.m. Friday, August 2, 2002 at the O'Fallon Nursing Home. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, August 9, at Oakwood Cemetery in Mount Vernon, with Rev. Everett Lemay officiating. Those attending the service are asked to go directly to the cemetery on Friday. Burial will follow in the cemetery. No public visitation will be held. Memorials may be made to the Hospice of Southern Illinois and will be accepted at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon. Hughey Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Bernard Junger
ELLIS GROVE -- Bernard L. "Barney" Junger, 70, died Sunday, August 4, 2002, at his residence. Funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, August 7, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Ellis Grove, with Deacon Al DuBois officiating. Burial will be at the St. Mary Catholic Cemetery with military graveside services by VFW Post #3553. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, August 7 and from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. Thursday at Welge-Pechacek Funeral Home in Chester. Memorials may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church in Ellis Grove.

Melissa Bufkin
MOUNT VERNON -- Melissa Jane Bufkin, 72, of Lake Wales, Fla., died at 10 p.m. Sunday, August 4, 2002, at Grove Center Nursing Home in Lake Wales, Fla. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 9, in the Chapel at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens, with Rev. Jeff VanDyke officiating. Burial will follow in the Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, August 8, at Hughey Funeral Home.
