PEKIN ~ Martha Louise Hodges, 80, of 2501 Allentown Road, died at 12:40 p.m. Tuesday, November 2, 2004 at Hallmark House Nursing Center in Pekin. She was formerly of 1506 North 5th Street in Pekin.
Born April 8, 1924 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Otis Rupert and Corrie Craig Tisdale, she married John Mitchel Hodges, Jr. on November 1, 1944 in Dallas, Texas. He died December 2, 2002 in Pekin. She was also preceded in death by her parents and one sister (Anne Bender).
Surviving are one son, John M. “Skip” (Jan) Hodges, III of Hot Springs, Arkansas; two daughters, Susan L. (Karl) Kaebel and Corrie J. (Bruce) Bennett, both of Pekin; ten grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; mother-in-law, Lucille Hodges of Pekin; and sister-in-law, Betty J. Kaebel of Pekin.
A homemaker, Mrs. Hodges was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Pekin. She was a former member of the Pekin Women’s Club, Pekin Hospital League, Pekin Country Club, and Sunset Hills Country Club in Pekin.
She was a born-again Christian and enjoyed golfing 
, dancing, bowling, and playing bridge.
A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 6, 2004 at the Grace United Methodist Church in Pekin. The Rev. Gary L. Ford will officiate. There will be no visitation. Private Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.

MARLENE R. ECKSTEIN
(1934~2004)
EAST PEORIA--- Marlene Ruth Eckstein, 70, of 850 E. 2nd St., El Paso, Illinois, died at 7:15 p.m., Monday, November 1, 2004 at Riveredge Hospital in Forest Park. She was formerly of 127 Elmwood St. in East Peoria and 207 W. Church St. in Washburn.
She was born April 6, 1934 in Peoria to Ralph Carl and Lurel Ruth Blair Eckstein.
Surviving are a first cousin, Marie Eckstein of Washburn, who cared for her for many years; second cousins, Jerry Eckstein of Sunnyland, Ralph Eckstein and David Eckstein both of Washburn; and an aunt, Amelia O. Ellis of Washburn.
A homemaker, she was a member of St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church in Washburn and a former member of St. Monica’s Catholic Church in East Peoria.
A funeral mass will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday, November 5, 2004 at St. Monica’s Catholic Church in East Peoria, where visitation will be one hour prior to services. Rev. Joseph W. Anderson will officiate. Burial will be in Fondulac Cemetery in East Peoria.

LAVERNE A. RANKIN

Pekin ~ LaVerne A. Rankin, 90, of 601 Prince Street, died at 3:50 p.m. Monday, November 1, 2004 at Pekin Hospital. She was formerly of 800 Koch Street.
Born April 1, 1914 in Prophetstown to Ray A. and Sadie Jane Maxfield Wilkinson, she married Lloyd K. Rankin on December 23, 1939 in Green Valley. He died November 4, 1983 in Pekin. She also was preceded in death by four sisters and one brother.
Surviving are two sons, Michael L. (Becky) Rankin and Stephen L. “Spanky” (Dena) Rankin, both of Pekin; two granddaughters, Traci M. (Joseph) Jaggie of Wildwood, Missouri and Tricia F. (Tony) Sizemore of Chesterfield, Missouri and two great-grandchildren.
She had worked for the American Distilling Company in Pekin for more than 10 years in the bottling department.
She was a 50-year member of First United Methodist Church in Pekin.
She loved to play cards and was a member of several card clubs. She also enjoyed flower gardening and reading.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, November 4, 2004 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. The Rev. Judy Doyle will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, November 3, 2004 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.

DWAYNE R. ESCHMEYER
(1932~2004)
PEKIN ~ Dwayne Robert Eschmeyer, 72, of 1509 North 12th Street, died at 10:36 a.m. Sunday, October 31, 2004 at the Methodist Medical Center of Illinois in Peoria.
Born April 1, 1932 in Creve Coeur to Lewis Adam and Ruth Miriam Ertmoed Eschmeyer, he married Shirley Ann McWeeny on July 14, 1963 in rural Pekin. She survives.
Also surviving are one son, Eric D. Eschmeyer of Groveland; one daughter, Anne E. (Peter) Besold of Glen Ellyn; five grandchildren, Andrew L. Eschmeyer, Aaron C. Eschmeyer, both of East Peoria, Thomas A. Besold, Nathan M. Besold and Sophie-Marie E. Besold, all of Glen Ellyn and two sisters, Shirley L. Ziebold of Pekin and Norma Jean Spain of Tallahassee, Florida.
His parents preceded him in death.
A 1949 graduate of Pekin Community High School, he had attended Bradley University in Peoria.
Mr. Eschmeyer worked for more than 38 years for the Central Illinois Light Company, out of their Pekin office, as a tree trimmer, retiring December 1, 1989.
He enjoyed golfing and was a member of the Parkview Men’s Senior Golf League. He also was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 916 in Pekin.
Private graveside services will be Wednesday, November 3, 2004 at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin. The Rev. Gary L. Ford will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, November 2, 2004 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel.

ROBERT D. PEACOCK

Creve Coeur ~ Robert Dale Peacock, 77, of 541 North Highland Avenue, died at 12:39 p.m., Saturday, October 30, 2004 at his residence.
Born February 13, 1927 in Cooperstown to Mark Wade and Emma Louise Davis Peacock, he married Juanita Croxton on May 8, 1948 in Rushville. She died October 14, 2001 in Creve Coeur. He also was preceded in death by one son, Jeffery A. Peacock in 1991) and five brothers.
Surviving are three daughters, Carolyn S. “Sue” McWethy of Bartonville, Diana L. (Jimmy) Gilmore, of Peoria and Rebecca K. “Becky” Stamm of Creve Coeur; three sons, Robert D. (Brenda) Peacock, David A. Peacock and Larry J. “Joe” Peacock, all of Creve Coeur; seventeen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; two brothers, Delbert E. Peacock of Peoria and William “Bill” (Dorothy) Peacock of Bartonville and two sisters, Violet Billingsly and Irene Grafton, both of Bellevue.
He was a World War II
Army veteran.
Mr. Peacock worked as a machine operator for Broderick and Baskin Rope Company in Bartonville for 24 years, retiring when the plant closed on May 16, 1980.
He played the bass guitar and lead guitar for many years in area country music bands including, Roy Singley and the Rounders, Jan Croxton and the Rhythmaires and the Young at Heart.
Services will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, November 2, 2004 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Creve Coeur Chapel. Sam M. Amick will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before services at the funeral home. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 3, 2004 at Rushville City Cemetery in Rushville, where military rites will be accorded Rushville American Legion Post No. 4.

CLARENCE E. "BUZZ" BISSELL
(1928~2004)
CREVE COEUR—Clarence Edwin Bissell, 76, of 337 Carola St., died at 2:28 a.m., Saturday, October 30, 2004 at Proctor Hospital in Peoria.
Born January 18, 1928 in Sciota, Illinois to Edwin Clarence and Opal C. Helton Bissell, he married Eileen Marie Canfield on April 29, 1950 in Dallas City, Illinois.
Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Sheila (Mark) Donnelly of Tremont and Sherry (George) Kresse; two grandsons; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother.
Mr. Bissell last worked as a truck driver for Alexander Lumber Warehouse in Peoria for 8 years, retiring in 1988. Previously, he had driven for Armour Star and Company in Peoria for 28 years.
Mr. Bissell served in the US Navy from January 14, 1946 to November 18, 1947, during which time he served at the Bikini Atoll Nuclear Test Site. He later re-enlisted and served from January 8, 1951 to February 15, 1953.
He was a member of the Teamsters and Chaffeurs Union Local 627 in Peoria for many years and was an avid C.B. radio buff.
He was a member of the First Assembly of God in Pekin.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, November 3, 2004 at First Assembly of God in Pekin. Rev. Quinn McKenzie will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be at 3 p.m., Wednesday in Oakwood Cemetery in Macomb.

MARGARET R. LIPPERT
(1920~2004)
EAST PEORIA ~ Margaret Rose Lippert, 84, of 107 North Hawthorne, died at 4 a.m. Thursday, October 28, 2004 at Proctor Hospital in Peoria. She was formerly of 309 Albert Street in Creve Coeur.
Born February 10, 1920 in Havana to Thomas I and Mildred R. Hendee Boggs, she married Dorman Donald Lippert on September 8, 1937 in Keokuk, Iowa. He died November 28, 1998 in Morton.
Surviving are three daughters, Millie (Vernon) Jackson of Pekin, Cathy (David) Forden of East Peoria and Susie (Jim) Ackerman of Morton; two sons, Mike (Karol) Lippert of Mackinaw and John Lippert of East Peoria; thirteen grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; one sister, Linda (Tom) Gilson of East Peoria and one brother, Thomas (Priscilla) Boggs of Monrovia, California.
A homemaker, Mrs. Lippert was a member of First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ in Creve Coeur.
She enjoyed reading and needle work.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 30, 2004 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Creve Coeur Chapel. The Rev. Donald G. Zumwalt will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, October 29, 2004 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Glendale Cemetery in Washington.

ROBERT W. MAQUET
(1921~2004)
DELAVAN ~ Robert W. Maquet, 83, of 21640 Lago Drive, died at 5:30 p.m. Monday, October 25, 2004 at the Methodist Medical Center of Illinois in Peoria.
Born June 12, 1921 in Roanoke to Henry Jules and Madeline Marie Wiart Maquet, he married Lucille Harmon on October 18, 1951 in Peoria. She died February 20, 1987 in Delavan. He then married Irma J. Bandy on July 13, 2001 in Pekin. She survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Mary Rockhold of Boulder, Colorado; one step-son, Ron (Susan) Smith of Coldwater, Michigan; two step-daughters, Kim (John) Welter of Aurora and Rhonda (Kevin) Miller of Canton; three grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Ramona S. Rockhold and Flora M. VanBuskirk.
He was a World War II
Army Air Force veteran, attaining the rank of Sergeant.
He retired from the Commonwealth Edison Powerton Station near Pekin after many years of service.
He was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge 916 in Pekin. He also was a member of the American Association of Retired Persons.
He was an avid Golfer and enjoyed woodcarving.
Moose rites followed with funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, October 29, 2004 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. The Rev. Robert N. Brite, Jr. will officiate and a flag presentation will be conducted by the Tazewell Area Ceremonial Team. Visitation will be one hour before services Friday at the funeral home. Private Burial will be in Spring Lake Cemetery in rural Manito.

ROBERT C. MOHN
(1929~2004)
PEORIA ~ Robert C. Mohn, 75, of 1902 West Antoinette Street, died at 7:05 a.m. Monday, October 25, 2004 at his residence.
Born May 21, 1929 in Peoria to Christian and Esther White Mohn, he married Marilyn Hoffman in 1948 in Peoria. He then married Betty Knee on October 20, 1956 in Peoria. He last married Juanita Williams on December 21, 1974 in Peoria. She died June 11, 1993. He also was preceded in death by one sister and five brothers.
Surviving are one daughter, Mary L. Mohn of Peoria; three sons, Dennis (Renee) Mohn, Marion (Brenda) Mohn and Michael (Katie) Mohn, all of Peoria; eighteen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
He was an
Army veteran of the
Korean War.
Mr. Mohn worked 22 years for the Greater Peoria Sanitary District, retiring as a supervisor in 1992.
He was a former member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Peoria. He loved to collect clocks and hats. He also enjoyed working on cars and houses. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals Baseball fan.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, October 28, 2004 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Creve Coeur Chapel. The Rev. Randy G. Heinsch will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before services Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Lutheran Cemetery in Peoria, with military rites accorded by the Tazewell Area Ceremonial Team.

CAROL J. SCOTT
(1942~2004)
PEORIA ~ Carol Jean Scott, 62, of 6701 West Plank Road, died at 5:35 p.m. Sunday, October 24, 2004 at Methodist Medical Center of Illinois in Peoria. She was formerly of rural Manito and South Pekin.
Born June 25, 1942 in Beardstown to Harold J. and Doris May Gladwell Vermillion, she married Richard E. “Gene” Scott on November 17, 1970 in Monmouth. He died November 21, 1986 in rural Manito. She was also preceded in death by her parents.
Surviving are one daughter, Katherine V. (Michael) Stebbins of Dallastown, Pennsylvania; two grandsons, Benjamin M. (Olivia) Hamilton of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and James H. (Amy) Hamilton of Midland, Michigan; and two great-grandchildren. She also leaves a friend, Dorothy Ludington of Farmington who helped care for her.
Mrs. Scott worked as a nurse’s aide and later a licensed practical nurse at area nursing homes, including Bel-Wood Nursing Home in rural Peoria.
She enjoyed
hunting, fishing, knitting, crocheting, and making crafts. She also enjoyed collecting dolls.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, October 29, 2004 at the Mount Hope Cemetery in Tremont. There will be no visitation.

LOUELLA D. MILBURN
(1930~2004)
PEKIN ~ Louella D. “Lou” Milburn, 74, of 807 Bacon Street, died at 11:10 a.m. Saturday, October 23, 2004 at Pekin Living and Rehabilitation Center.
Born August 27, 1930 in Waukegan to Cassel Melvin and Bernice Cover Dever, she married Charles Allan “Chuck” Milburn on April 1, 1950 in Waukegan. He survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, V. Dawn Eagle of Low Point; two sons, Cassel D. Milburn of Pekin and Charles A. “Chuck” (Wendy) Milburn of Saybrook; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two brothers, David (Joyce) Dever of Wadsworth and Thomas (Gail) Dever of Waukegan.
Her parents preceded her in death.
Mrs. Milburn worked for the Singer Sewing Machine Company in downtown Pekin for several years as a sewing instructor and sales associate. She later worked for the Pekin Daily Times for over 15 years as the society and women’s page editor.
She was a member of the First Christian Church of Pekin, and its Christian Women’s Fellowship, Sonshine Class, and Elizabeth Circle. She baked bread for many years and donated the profits to her circle. She was a former deacon, sound system operator, and coordinator of the photo directory at her church. She also was very active in the cooking ministry of the church for many years.
She was a member of the Arbor Society and the Pekin Garden Club, where she was past president. She was past District #3 Director of Garden Clubs of Illinois. She was an accredited flower show judge and judged events through out Illinois. She was instrumental in starting the Marigold Festival Flower Show and coordinating it through the many years and chaired the Marigold Festival Garden Contest for several years. She also was a member of the Pekin Concert Association, where she had been membership chairman. She had been a volunteer for the American Red Cross and was a former member of the Pekin Players. She participated in Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and Cub Scouts activities from 1960 to 1994, serving as den mother, troop leader, and on the district committee. She received the Silver Fawn award from the Boy Scouts of America.
She enjoyed gardening, painting, and crocheting.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 27, 2004 at the First Christian Church in Pekin. The Rev. Christine Bell will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, October 26, 2004 at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin chapel and from 10:15 to 10:45 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Private Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
