Kay L. Banister

Kay Lorraine Banister, 58, 6209W-600S, died at 3:40 p.m. Tuesday (Sept. 12, 2000) at Select Specialty Hospital, Fort Wayne.

A Huntington native, Mrs. Banister lived in California for many years where she worked in retail sales and real estate. She had been a homemaker since moving back to Huntington in 1993. She was a member of the Banquo Christian Church.

She was born Sept. 10, 1942, in Huntington to Harold and Della Kem. Her parents survive and live in Huntington. She graduated from Jefferson Township High School in 1960. She married Larry R. Banister in 1961. Her husband survives.

Also surviving are a son, Fred Lange of Huntington; a daughter, Mrs. Paul (Tracy) Hartigan of Huntington; a brother, Steve Kem of Huntington; two sisters, Paula Kem of Pennsylvania and Connie Kem of Indianapolis; and three grandchildren.

A son, Ty Banister, preceded her in death.

Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at McDonald Funeral Home, 104 S. Main St., LaFontaine, where funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday. Pastor Gary Riley will officiate. Burial will be at the Mt. Etna Cemetery, Mt. Etna.

Amy M. Light

Amy M. Light, 77, Nashua, N.H., died Sept. 7, 2000, at Southern New Hampshire Medical Center in Nashua.

Mrs. Light retired from Norwalk Hospital in Connecticut where she had taught nursing. She had also worked as a floor nurse at various hospitals for a number of years and as director of nurses at Greenwich Hospital in Greenwich, Conn. She received her nursing degree from Methodist Hospital in Fort Wayne and her bachelor’s degree from Indiana State University, Terre Haute.

She was born July 14, 1923, in Union Township, Huntington County, to Oren Wolf Sr. and Mary Young Wolf. She married James F. Light, who survives.

Also surviving are two stepsons, Sheldon N. Light of Grossepoint, Mich., and Matthew Light of Stratford, Conn.; a stepdaughter, Jama R. Colegrove of New Britain, Conn.; two sisters, Hilda Nussel of Fort Wayne and Erma Dalrymple of Ossian; and seven stepgrandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Bernice Reber, and a brother, Oren Wolf Jr.

Private services were held.

Zis-Feeney Funeral Home, Nashua, N.H., was in charge of arrangements.

VT Hughes

VT Hughes, 87, Roanoke, died Monday (Sept. 11, 2000) at the Goshen General Hospital.

Mr. Hughes had been employed with International Harvester for 34 years and had been a volunteer with the Roanoke Fire Department for 25 years. He was a member of the Roanoke United Methodist Church. He had been a member of American Legion Post 160, Roanoke, for 50 years; and was a member of Masonic Lodge 195, Roanoke; Order of Eastern Star Chapter 62; and UAW Retirees.

He was born Oct. 26, 1912, in Huntington to John and Pearl Gamble Hughes.

Survivors include a son, Ted V. Hughes of Cromwell; a stepson, Charles H. Willen of Fort Wayne; four stepdaughters, Jo DeFord of Roanoke, Norma E. Patton of Fayetteville, N.C., Barbara O’Dier of Bloomington and Patricia Schaefer of Fort Wayne; a sister, Anna McHenry of Huntington; two brothers, Rex Hughes of Marion and Bob Hughes of Waynedale; 20 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Princess Olive “Pat” Weist, who died in 1958; his second wife, Ola Craft Hughes, who died in 1997; a son, Wayne Hughes, who died in 1984; and a sister, Jean Lockwood, who died in 2000.

Calling is 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday, with Masonic services at 7:30 p.m., at the D. O. McComb & Sons Covington Knolls Funeral Home, 8325 Covington Rd., Fort Wayne, where funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday. Burial will be at Covington Memorial Gardens, Fort Wayne.

Preferred memorials are to the Roanoke Volunteer Fire Department.

Beverly Jo Noland

Beverly Jo Noland, 45, Marion, died Tuesday (Sept. 11, 2000) at her home.

Mrs. Noland was a homemaker. She had worked at United Technologies in North Manchester for seven years and had also worked at Weaver Popcorn in Van Buren.

She was born Feb. 12, 1955, in Germany to Robert Stambaugh and Ruth Bulington Stambaugh. She married Charles “Chuck” Noland Aug. 31, 1996, in Las Vegas. Her husband survives.

Also surviving are her father and stepmother, Robert and Doris Stambaugh of Huntington; her mother and stepfather, Ruth and Jack Sizemore of Swayzee; four daughters, Shawn Noland and DeLila Noland, both of Oklahoma City, Okla., Connie Noland of Mustang, Okla., and Dana Noland of North Manchester; two stepsons, Jeffery Noland of Elwood and Charles Stambaugh of North Manchester; a stepdaughter, Rita Dollar of Alexandria; two sisters, Aundra Stambaugh of North Manchester and Monica Ward of Wabash; a half-sister, Roberta Stambaugh of Marion; and 14 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother, a sister and a great-grandchild.

Calling will be from 11 a.m. until the 1 p.m. funeral service Thursday at the Grandstaff-Hentgen Manchester Avenue Chapel, 1177 Manchester Ave., Wabash. Troy Trusty will officiate. Burial will be at Friends Cemetery, Wabash.

Preferred memorials are to the donor’s choice of charity.

Joel M. Priddy

Joel Michael Priddy, 24, of Carmel, died Sept. 6 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.

He was a third-year student at the Indiana University School of Medicine and a member of Phi Beta Kappa, Phi Eta Sigma and Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternities and St. Luke United Methodist Church.

Mr. Priddy is survived by his parents, Steven L. and Linda J. Smith, Carmel. Steven Smith is a 1967 graduate of Huntington High School.

Survivors also include a brother, Matthew J. Priddy of Carmel; and his grandmothers, Mildred Gray Priddy of Warren and Margaret Kolifrath Smith, Chicago.

Services were held Sept. 8 at St. Luke United Methodist Church, Carmel.

Preferred memorials are to the Joel M. Priddy Memorial Fund in care of the Indiana University School of Medicine, 635 N. Barnhill Dr., Medical Science building room 122, Indianapolis, IN 46202.

Flanner & Buchanan Carmel Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.

Richard L. Teusch

Richard L. Teusch, 61, Uniondale, died at 8:09 a.m. Monday (Sept. 10, 2000) at the Caylor-Nickel Medical Center in Bluffton.

Mr. Teusch had owned the Waynewood Inn in Waynedale for 30 years.

He was born July 7, 1939, in Allen County to Charles and Grace Bubb Teusch. His mother survives and lives in Fort Wayne. He married Linda Levy June 19, 1987, in Uniondale. His wife survives.

Also surviving are three sons, Richard G. Teusch of Bluffton, Thomas G. Teusch and Timothy G. Teusch, both of Uniondale; a sister, Renee L. Marshall of Uniondale; two stepsons, Tracey Roth of Bluffton and Jason Roth of Brush Prairie, Wash.; a stepdaughter, Sheila Teusch of Monroe; three brothers, John Teusch of Churubusco, Don Teusch and James Teusch, both of Fort Wayne; a sister, Mrs. Thomas (Karen) Graves of Spencerville; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Calling is 2-9 p.m. Wednesday, with a prayer vigil at 6:30 p.m., at the Goodwin Memorial Chapel, 3220 Ind.-124E, Bluffton.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, with calling one hour prior to services, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Ind.-1, Bluffton. Father Larry Kramer will officiate. Burial will be at the Elm Grove Cemetery, Bluffton.

Preferred memorials are to the American Diabetes. Association or to St. Joseph Catholic Church, Fort Wayne.

Edith A. Cargar

Edith A. Cargar, 82, Huntington, died at 3:53 p.m. Saturday (Sept. 9, 2000) at her home.

Mrs. Cargar worked at Memcor for 22 years as a coil worker. She was a member of the Union Christian Church, Zanesville.

She was born March 4, 1918, in Union Township, Wells County, to Henry and Alma Buccholz Stickler. She attended East Union Township High School, Wells County. She was married to Leslie “Bud” Cargar June 20, 1970, in Liberty Center by Rev. Kenneth Swan. Her husband survives.

Also surviving are a son, Larry W. Smith of Huntington; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Gerald (Cheryl) Edris of Marion; two grandchildren and three stepgrandchildren.

Calling is from 6-8 p.m. Monday and from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service Tuesday at the Myers Funeral Home, Huntington Chapel. Rev. Gerald Edris will officiate.

Burial will be at the Markle Cemetery, Markle.

Preferred memorials are to Huntington Home Health Care and Hospice, c/o Myers Funeral Home, 2901 Guilford St., Huntington, IN 46750.

Lynn Daggett

Lynn Daggett, 59, rural Huntington, died at 12:30 a.m. Friday (Sept. 8, 2000) at his home.

Mr. Daggett was employed by Hiner Transport in Huntington as a shop foreman; he also worked in carpentry and woodworking. He was a member of the Ruddell Hill Baptist Church in Batesville, Ark., and attended the Etna Avenue Wesleyan Church in Huntington. He was a 1957 graduate of Batesville High School in Arkansas and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.

He was born Oct. 15, 1940, in Macks, Ark., the son of Henry Poe Lynn and Judith Bibb Daggett. He married Nancy Ivey March 4, 1977, in Roanoke; his wife survives.

Additional survivors include three sons, Gene Daggett of Andrews, and Derek Daggett and Phil Feltner, both of Huntington; two daughters, Rene Higgs of Warren and April L. Gumbert of Lexington, Ky.; a sister, Cora Sue Jackson of Batesville, Ark.; and nine grandchildren.

Calling is 2-8 p.m. Sunday at Myers Funeral Home, Huntington Chapel, where services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday. Rev. Al Soultz will officiate. Burial will be at Star of Hope Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Cancer Society of Huntington County in care of Myers Funeral Home, 2901 Guilford St., Huntington IN 46750.
