MILDRED MARIE FORRER

ULYSSES -- Mildred Marie Forrer, 90, died January 26, 2004, at her residence in Ulysses. She was born March 12, 1913, to Jacob and Bessie (Hayen) Cornelsen in Marion.

She married Julian Stewart Forrer June 1, 1936, in Wellington. He died Dec. 8, 1995.

She graduated from Wellington High School and became a certified teacher. She taught in a one room school in Wellington and was a substitute teacher in Ulysses, where she was a resident since 1947.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and was a Sunday School teacher.

Survivors include one son Samuel Forrer and wife Karen, Lebanon, Ohio; two daughters, Sonya Noyes, and husband Hank, Lakewood, Colo., Virginia Forrer and husband, Stewart Jacobson, New City, Ill.; six grandchildren, Johnathan Wood, Christian Forrer and wife, Kristy, Carrie Noyes Suber and husband Michael, LeAnne Forrer Conway and husband, David, Anna Wood, Julia Noyes Kothe and husband David; one brother, Charles Cornelsen and wife, Joanna, Wellington; two sisters, Mary Lois Gallagher, Konawa, Okla, Wilma Fender, Jonesboro, Ark.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Alvin Cornelsen, and one sister, Laura Haggard.

Memorial services will be at 4 p.m. Thursday at the First United Methodist Church in Ulysses with the Reverend Dennis Livingtson presiding. There will be a second service at 3 p.m. Friday at the First Presbyterian Church in Wellington with the Reverend Douglas House.

Burial will follow at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, south of Wellington.

Friends may call the Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday and 9 a.m. until noon on Thursday.

Memorials are suggested to the First United Methodist Church or to the Kansas Alzheimer's Association in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 405 W. Grant, Ulysses, KS 67880.

ELLA PRISCILLA "SHORTY" SMITH CLARK

KALVESTA -- Ella Priscilla "Shorty" (Smith) Clark, 79, died Monday January 26, 2004, at Via Christi Regional Medical Center, Saint Francis Campus in Wichita.

She was born May 9, 1924, to Aurthur James and Helen O. (Diehl) Smith in Coldwater.

She married Marvin Clark Sept. 13, 1942, in Kansas City, Mo. He survives.

She was a homemaker.

She was a member of the First Christian Church in Cimarron. She attended the United Methodist Church, Cheerful Workers Club and Pawnee Acre Community Card Club in Kalvesta. She enjoyed playing pitch.

Other survivors include two sons, Kelly Clark and wife Trudy, Cimarron, Curtis Clark and wife, Waneen, Cimarron; three daughters, Marlene Legg and husband, George, Kalvesta, Shirley Poppe and husband Clyde, Montezuma, Samantha Payne and husband Travis, Cimarron; 25 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Jim Smith and wife, Mary, Muskogee, Okla., Dick Smith and wife Carol, Cimarron, Ralph Smith and wife, Darline, Cimarron; one sister, Merle Evans and husband Richard, McAlester, Okla. and many relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Gary Clark; one grandson, Clint Jason Legg; one great-grandchild, Marcus Thomas Fry; one brother, Glenn Smith; three sisters, Marie Davenport, Arla Lewis and Gwen Hastings.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the United Methodist Church in Cimarron with the Ministers Frank DeFisher and Richard Diemund presiding.

Friends may call the Montezuma Funeral Home until 8 p.m. today. Friends may call from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday at the the United Methodist church in Cimarron.

Memorials are suggested to the Pawnee Acre Community Building in Kalvesta or the Kalvesta United Methodist Church in care of Montezuma Funeral Home, P.O. Box 421, Montezuma, KS 67867.

GOLDIE H. KAPP

Goldie H. Kapp, 95, died Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2004, at Life Care Center in Aurora, Colo.

She was born Sept. 30, 1908, to William and Mary C. (Oberkrom) Wright in Steelville, Mo.

She married Bernard Lee Kapp Oct. 30, 1932. He died June 25, 1991.

She moved to Liberal in 1930 and was a resident of Liberal until moving to Colorado. She was a homemaker and helped her husband on the farm for over 50 years.

She was a member of the First Christian Church of Liberal and was a past 4-H leader.

Survivors include one son, Dale Kapp, Aurora, Colo.; two grandchildren, Melody Brown and Greg Kapp; six great-grandchildren, Justin and Jessica Brown, Elisabeth, Daryl, Lydia and Joel Kapp.

She was also preceded in death by one son, Jay Kapp; seven brothers and four sisters.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend David Bagwell presiding.

Burial will be at Liberal Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. Sunday at Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home with the family present to greet friends from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to Cal Farley's Boys Ranch in care of Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home, 1212 W. Second, Liberal, KS 67901.

THERESA A.ANDERSON

Theresa A. Anderson, 62, died Saturday, January 3, 2004, at her residence.

She was born Aug. 25, 1941, to Russell and Zina Klink Colvin in Benninngton.

She married Archie M. Anderson, March 3, 1957, in Liberal. He died Sept. 20, 2000.

She earned her AA Degree from Seward County Community College and her BSA Degree from Friends University in 1991.

She worked as a customer service representative for Peoples Natural Gas Company for 23 years. She retired in 2003.

She was an active member of the South Church of God. She was also a member of the Church of God Women, Desk and Derrick and Leadership Liberal.

She is survived by two sons, Andy Anderson and wife, Debbie, Perryton, Texas, Adam Anderson and wife, Tammy, Sioux Falls, S.D.; two daughters, Zina Hazelton, Wichita, Colleen Millsap and husband, Cal, Liberal; her mother, Zina Leland, Stockton; three brothers, Mike Colvin, Sedalia, Mo.; Lorrin Leland, Olathe; Robert Leland and wife, Allison, Lawrence; 10 grandchildren, Freedom and Vance Hazelton, Jacob and Russell Anderson, Tyconda and Callie Millsap, Ashten, Christopher, Eric and Alexa Anderson; three great-grandchildren, Austin, Dominique and Alex.

She was preceded in death by her father.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the First Church of God with the Reverend Rusty Callahan presiding.

Burial will be at the Liberal Cemetery in Liberal.

Friends may call Miller Mortuary in Liberal until 8 p.m. today and 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday and 8 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Wednesday.

Friends may visit the family today, Tuesday and Wednesday at 1406 N. Roosevelt.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to South Church of God Building Fund or the Church of God women in care of Miller Mortuary, 908 N. Lincoln, Liberal, KS 67905.

ROBERT EUGENE COMER

Robert Eugene Corner, 80, died Thursday, Jan. 29, 2004, at Bob Wilson Grant County Memorial Hospital in Ulysses.

He was born Aug. 12, 1923, in Versailles, Mo. to George and Lola (Merritt) Corner.

He married Eileen Silvey. She preceded him in death. He then married Eunice L. Hubbard Nov. 10, 1972, in Ulysses. She survives.

He moved to Ulysses in 1954. He worked as a mechanic.

He was a World War II Veteran, where he served in the Army Airforce.

Survivors include his wife, Eunice Corner, Ulysses; one son, Thomas Corner and wife, Sandra, Henderson, Texas; two daughters, Samma Wise and husband, Bud, Ulysses, Lanna Childers and husband, Dale, Iola; one step-son, Randall Hubbard and wife, Glynis, Winfield; one adopted son, Lonnie Comer, Dallas, Texas; three step daughters, Ronda Widener and husband, Jimmy, Liberal, De Etta Kooken and husband, Leslie, Ulysses, Katherine Cowdrey and husband, Ron, Wichita; six grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; six step great-grandchildren; one brother, Loren Comer and wife, Nina, Ulysses; one sister, Maxine Craft and husband, Arlen, Ulysses; and many relatives and friends.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Danny Lynn Comer, Rickey Kent Comer; two grandsons, James David Wise and Robert Wayne Wise; one granddaughter, Madison Vardeman; two sisters, Pauline VanCampen and Naomi Barrington.

*Funeral sercives will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church in Ulysses, with the Ministers Barry Durkee and Warren Baldwin presiding.

Military graveside sercive will be conducted by Charles B. Hart Post No. 79 Ulysses at the Ulysses Cemetery in Ulysses.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. on Saturday and from 2 until 8 p.m. on Sunday.

Memorials are suggested to Grant County Scholarship Fund, Ulysses in care of Grant County Funeral Home, 218 S. Main, Ulysses, KS 67880.

KAMERON AUSTIN KNAVEL

LIBERAL -- Kameron Austin Knavel, stillborn daughter of Keith and DeAnn Knavel, died Friday January 30, 2004, at Saint Catherine Hospital in Garden City.

Survivors include her parents of Liberal; one sister, Karma Alexanderia Knavel, Liberal; paternal grandparents, Don and Brenda Knavel, LaHarpe; maternal grandparents, Earl and Cheryl Feese, Liberal; great-grandparents, Mary Knavel, LaHarpe, Avis Cooper, LaHarpe, Ruth Feese, Liberal.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Fellowship Baptist Church in Liberal with the Reverend Bill Prater presiding.

Burial will be at Restlawn Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home in Liberal.

ELRAIN WEAR

PERRYTON, Texas -- Elrain Wear, 60, died Wednesday Jan. 28, 2004, in Amarillo, Texas.

She was born Sept. 30, 1943, in Halecenter, Texas.

She married Gelndon Wear April 27, 1963, in Dimmit, Texas. He survives.

She was an Assistant Manager at Dollar General in Perryton, Texas.

Other survivors include two sons; Sharrel Wear, Canadian, Texas; Maxi Wayne Wear, Holyoke, Colo; three daughters, Vernon Lynn Waide, Liberal; Sherrie Nunn, Amarillo, Texas; Carrie Waide, Liberal; her father, Grady Harding, Stephenville, Texas; three sisters, Jenny Jones, Grandprairie, Texas; Wilma Dikerman, Phoenix, Ariz., and Lynn O' Leary, Gravitte, Ark.

She was preceded in death by one grandson, Chance Waide; her mother, Edna Idell Harding and her father-in-law, Authur Wear.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church in Amarillo, Texas.

Burial will be at Ochiltree Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.

KAMERON AUSTIN KNAVEL

Kameron Austin Knavel, stillborn daughter of Keith and DeAnn Knavel, died Friday, Jan. 30, 2004, at Saint Catherine Hospital in Garden City.
