Opal S. Richardson

HUGOTON - Opal S. Richardson, 89, of Hugoton, died Sunday, June 24, 2001, at Stevens County Hospital in Hugoton.

She was born Sept. 10, 1911, in Beaver County, Okla., the daughter of Harry Herbert and Nora Birch (Ferguson) Stoddard. She helped raise her sisters, brothers and other children, and lived with her grandparents at Freeport for a few years as a child.

On March 1, 1930, she married James O. Richardson at Liberal. In the 1930s, they moved to Stevens County where they farmed and raised cattle. She had an upholstery business on the farm.

Mrs. Richardson was baptized in the Freeport United Methodist Church, was active in Glendale 4-H Club and was a leader for many years. She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family.

Her husband died Jan. 11, 1998. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a great-grandson; three brothers, Russell, Ted and Paul Stoddard; and two sisters, LaVon Norris and Nina Morgan.

She is survived by a son, Jimmie Richardson, Tahlequah, Okla.; a daughter, Nora Beth Hollenback, Hugoton; three brothers, Harold Stoddard, Walsh, Colo., Ralph Stoddard, Hugoton, and J.D. Stoddard, Liberal; a sister, Geneva Bruner, Kismet; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral will be 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Paul's Funeral Home, Hugoton, with the Rev. Robert Bailey officiating. Burial will be in Hugoton Cemetery.

Visitation hours are from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and Wednesday and from 10 a.m. until service time Thursday at the funeral home.

Ray Herman Chambers

Ray Herman Chambers, 74, a former Garden City resident, died Monday, June 18, 2001, at the V.A. Hospital in Albuquerque, N.M.

A graduate of the University of Colorado in Boulder, he was an outstanding athlete, taking second place in the high jump in the NCAA Tournament, and lettering in basketball and track. He was an officer in the Army Corp of Engineers during World War II.

Mr. Chambers had been a resident of Albuquerque for 47 years. He was a principal partner in the engineering firm of Chambers, Campbell, Isaacson and Chaplin, which did engineering and architectural work for the states of New Mexico and Arizona.

He retired to the Four Hills area and enjoyed watching his grandchildren grow up and also enjoyed golfing and hunting. He was a member of Immanuel Presbyterian Church in Albuquerque.

He is survived by his wife, Oueta B. Chambers; four daughters, Christine Caton, Alamosa, Colo., Diana Bisbee, Springdale, Ark., Lisa Chambers, Boulder, and Katrina Wood, Albuquerque; a stepson, Bill McAfee, Topeka; a brother, Thomas Alden Chambers, Spring City, Tenn.; two sisters, Patsy Stein, Prescott, Ariz., and Linda Waugh, Albuquerque; 13 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Alice I. Dahl.

Cremation has taken place, with the remains to be interred at his ranch in Colorado.

Memorials in his name are suggested to the donor's choice.

Ruth Keener Wikoff

SCOTT CITY - Ruth Keener Wikoff, 89, died Sunday, June 24, 2001, at Scott County Hospital in Scott City.

She was born June 4, 1912, at Norton, the daughter of Charles and Myrna Belle (Snyder) Reed.

On May 11, 1940, she married Leroy Keener at Minden, Neb. They owned and operated Keener Flowers and Gifts in Scott City and Norton, retiring in 1973. He died in 1987 at Scott City.

On April 4, 1992, she married William "Bob" Wikoff at Scott City. He died in 1997 at Scott City. She was also preceded in death by her parents.

A Scott City resident since 1954, moving from Norton, Mrs. Wikoff helped organize the Scott County Hospital Auxiliary and was the first president of the organization.

She was a member of First Christian Church, Christian Women's Fellowship, Beta Sigma Phi, El Quartelejo Study Club, Bridge Foursome, Business and Professional Club, and the Florist Telegraph Delivery Association, a former member of Rebekah Lodge, and a board member of Pine Village.

She is survived by two daughters, Merilyn Krause, Scott City, and Sheryl Morris, Courtland, N.Y.; a stepson, Paul Wikoff, Hayden Heights, Texas; six grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and four stepgreat-grandchildren.

Memorial service will be 2:30 p.m. Monday at First Christian Church, Scott City, with the Rev. John Warring officiating. Memorials are suggested to the church, in care of Price & Sons Funeral Home, Scott City.

Ruth Estelle Randolph

TRIBUNE - Ruth Estelle Randolph, 82, died Sunday, June 24, 2001, at Greeley County Hospital in Tribune.

She was born Aug. 23, 1918, at Aurora, Ill., the daughter of Robert Vance and Violet Estelle (Wagner) Ferguson.

Mrs. Randolph was a retired purchasing department secretary for Sandia National Laboratories in Albuquerque, N.M. She had been a Tribune resident since September 1998, moving from Albuquerque.

She was a member of Berean Baptist Church at Albuquerque, where she was a former organist, choir member pianist in the junior church and a visitation minister.

On Jan. 24, 1950, she married Sgt. William Cecil Randolph at Lampasas, Texas. He survives. She is also survived by three sons, Jim Randolph, Houston, John Randolph, Sacramento, Calif., and the Rev. Mark Randolph, Tribune; a daughter, Sue Stone, Coos Bay, Ore.; two brothers, Bob Ferguson, Linn Creek, Mo., and Stuart Ferguson, Joliet, Ill.; a sister, Marge Flagg, Joliet; and nine grandchildren.

A memorial service is scheduled for Monday at Berean Baptist Church, Albuquerque, with the Revs. Henry Powell and Charles Yates officiating.

Memorials are suggested to First Baptist Church in Tribune or Berean Baptist Church in Albuquerque, both in care of Price & Sons Funeral Home, Box 161, Leoti, KS 67861.

Louis L. Steinert

Louis L. Steinert, 45, of Dodge City, died Sunday, June 24, 2001, at Western Plains Regional Hospital in Dodge City.

He was born March 7, 1956, at Russell, the son of Lester Leon and Gladys L. (Baral) Steinert. He was a 1975 graduate of Dodge City High School.

A lifetime resident of Dodge City, he was a maintenance worker at Village Square Mall and had previously worked for USD 443 for 15 years, at Best Western Silver Spur for 10 years and was the former owner of Mid Plains Cleaning, all at Dodge City. He was a former member of the Moose Lodge.

Survivors include his wife, Jo Ann (Lopez) Steinert; three daughters, Holly, Sonja and Courtney Steinert, all of Dodge City; two stepsons, Jarvis Goolsby and Patrick Lopez, both of Dodge City; his mother, Dodge City; a brother, Lester Lee Steinert, Garden City; a sister, Kathy Lee, Dodge City; numerous nephews and nieces; and one great-niece.

Funeral will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Burkhart Funeral Chapel, Dodge City, with the Rev. Gib Botten officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Dodge City.

Visitation hours are from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Louis L. Steinert Children's Fund, in care of the funeral chapel, 1901 N. 14th Ave., Dodge City, KS 67801.

Sara Leslie Andrasek

SCOTT CITY - Funeral for Sara Leslie Andrasek, 23, was to be 1 p.m. today at Meyers Family Funeral Home, Kansas City, Kan. Burial was to follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Kansas City, Kan.

Mrs. Andrasek died Thursday, June 21, 2001, at her home in Kansas City, Mo.

She was born May 23, 1978, at Kansas City, Kan.

A 1996 graduate of Sumner Academy of Arts & Science, she was a member of the National Honor Society and graduated Summa Cum Laude.

Graduating Summa Cum Laude from Ottawa University in 2000 with a bachelor's degree in sociology, she was a member of Sigma Alpha Honor Society, was editor of the campus newspaper, sang in the concert choir and was a member of the University Hand Bell Ringers. She also belonged to Antioch Bible Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Rick Andrasek, whom she married in 1998; her mother, Janet Williams, Kansas City, Kan.; her brother, Michael Williams, Kansas City, Kan.; her grandparents, Bernie and Edna Foster, Thornfield, Mo., and John and Majorie Williams, Kansas City, Kan.; her mother-in-law, Beth Andrasek, Scott City; a brother-in-law; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her father, Carl D. Williams, in 1997; and her father-in-law, Richard L. Andrasek, in 1998.

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society, in care of the funeral home, 6300 Parallel Parkway, Kansas City, KS 66102.
