HUGOTON -- Dorothy V. Stewart, 85, of Hugoton, died Thursday, March 15, 2001, at Morton County Hospital in Elkhart.
Funeral arrangements are pending and will be announced by Garnand Funeral Home in Hugoton.
CHARLES M. EBERSOLE JR.
ELKHART -- Charles Milton Ebersole Jr., 82, died Wednesday, March 14, 2001, in Garden City.
He was born Feb. 18, 1919, to Charles Milton Sr. and Mable (Pippet) Ebersole in Copeland.
He graduated from Plains High School in Plains.
He married Rosalie Hensley Sept. 3, 1942, in Sharon Springs. She preceded him in death.
He and his family moved to Richfield in the 1940s, where they owned and operated the Richfield Hotel. He also farmed.
Survivors include four sisters, Lucille Rhoads, Plains, Maxine Stegman and husband, Carl, Fife, Wash., Mary Ann Glenn and husband, Bob, Fowler, and Jean Landrum, Elkhart; three brothers-in-law, Bernard Lindenberg and Jack Hensley and wife, Wanda, all of San Antonio, Texas, and Buck Hensley, Kalispell, Mont.; numerous nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Judy Rae; one brother; and two sisters.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Richfield United Methodist Church in Richfield with Terrell Giddens presiding.
Burial will be at Richfield Cemetery
in Richfield.

JENNIE M. RICKS
INDEPENDENCE, Mo. -- Jennie Mae Ricks, 84, former Liberal resident, died Thursday, March 15, 2001, at New Mark Care Center in Independence.
She was born Feb. 28, 1918, to Bert and Ada (Nelson) Collins in Pickens, Ark.
She married Luvell Ricks Oct. 13, 1942, in Pickens. He died Dec. 20, 1981.
She moved from Dumas, Ark., to Liberal in 1965. She was employed by the Warren Hotel and the Holiday Inn, both in Liberal, for 15 years before retiring.
She was a member of the St. Paul Baptist Church in Pickens.
Survivors include three sons, Johnnie Ricks and wife, Osie, Woodson, Ark., Luvell Ricks Jr. and wife, Ora, and Troy Ricks, all of Liberal; four daughters, Berlinda Green and husband, Charles, Little Rock, Ark.; Joyce Ward and husband, Larry, Liberal, Sandra Martinez and husband, Manuel, Independence, and Debbie Ricks, Salt Lake City, Utah; two sisters, Estella Burns, Flint, Mich., and Evelina Handley, Monticello, Ark.; one step-sister, Aldonia Moore, Warren, Ark.; one sister-in-law, Ester Lee Scott, Hodge, La.; 20 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, two sisters, one son, one daughter and one granddaughter.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Miller Chapel in Liberal with the Rev. Jimmy Holman presiding.
Burial will be at Liberal Cemetery
in Liberal.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Sunday, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday and from 8 a.m. until service time Tuesday at Miller Mortuary in Liberal.
ELDA J. DOVE
AMARILLO, Texas -- Elda J. Dove, 79, of Amarillo, died Sunday, March 11, 2001.
She was a member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church and a volunteer at Cornerstone Outreach ministries.
Survivors include three daughters, Cynthia Dove and Lina Dove, both of Amarillo, and Darlene Gray, Canyon, Texas; one son, Marvin Dove, Vinita, Okla.; one sister, Mae Smith, Inverness, Fla.; two brothers, Jim McAhern, Montgomery, Ala., and Frank McAhern, Liberal; 14 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Tuesday at N.S. Griggs and Sons Funeral Directors Pioneer Chapel in Amarillo with the Rev. Glenn Walls presiding.
Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery
in Amarillo.

MARY V. PINKHAM
JACKSON, Miss. -- Mary V. Pinkham, 56, died Wednesday, March 14, 2001, at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson.
She was born Feb. 6, 1945, to Joe and Sophie (Valdez) Sierra in Delta, Colo.
She married Bruce Pinkham May 20, 1970, in San Diego. He survives.
She moved to Liberal in 1977 from La Junta, Colo. In 1987, she moved to Salt Lake City and to Jackson in 1994.
She had been employed at National Beef in Liberal for a short time. She then worked as a nurses aid at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.
She had been employed by Pioneer Valley Hospital in Salt Lake City.
She was a member of Grace Baptist Church and Fellowship Baptist Church, both in Liberal, and Center Independence Baptist Church in Jackson.
Other survivors include her mother of Liberal; one son, Harmon "Buddy" Pinkham and wife, Leah, Medicine Lodge; three daughters, Linda Martinez and husband, Tony, Sandra Armstrong and husband, Jim, all of Liberal, and Lori Bachman and husband, Tracy, Fort Dodge, Iowa; two brothers, Ernie Sierra, Pueblo, Colo., and Joe Sierra, Liberal; three sisters, Dora Montano, Hobbs, N.M., Betty Montano, Las Vegas, N.M., and Rose Marrufo, Liberal; and six grandchildren, Anthony Martinez, Isabella Martinez, Amanda Bachman, Sarah Bachman, Cole Pinkham and Austin Pinkham.
She was preceded in death by her father and three brothers.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home Chapel in Liberal with the Rev. Floyd Benson presiding.
Burial will follow at the Liberal Cemetery.
Friends may call from 1-9 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. to service time Monday at Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home in Liberal.

MABEL A. BOHLING
MEADE -- Mabel A. Bohling, 93, died Friday, March 16, 2001, at the Meade District Hospital in Meade.
She was born Jan. 7, 1908, to George Carl and Ida Gesena (Buck) Bohling in Meade.
She was a life time resident of Meade.
She was a retired nurses aide at the Meade District Hospital in Meade.
She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Meade.
Survivors include one brother, Victor Bohling, Concordia; two sisters, Georgia Ruhl, and Verna Rollins, both of Wichita; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. John Lutheran Church in Meade with the Rev. Lynn Spencer presiding.
Burial will follow at the Graceland Cemetery
in Meade.
Friends may call until 8 p.m. today and from 9-11 a.m. Tuesday at Fidler-Orme Mortuary in Meade.

NAAMAN JOE DOUGHERTY
ELKHART -- Naaman Joe Dougherty, 56, died Friday, March 16, 2001, in Elkhart.
He was born Nov. 24, 1944, to Carl and Anna Jo (Hagelberg) Dougherty in Texhoma, Okla.
He grew up on the family farm in Texas County, Okla.
He graduated from Yarbrough Public Schools in 1962.
He married Sandra Johnson in September 1963. She survives.
He went to work for Anadarko in 1963 and was employed there prior to his death.
He was a member of the Church of Christ, the Morton County Fair Board, the Point Rock Golf Club, the United States Team Roping Championship, and the Chamber of Commerce.
He was a retired volunteer fireman.
He was very involved in the National Little Britches Association from 1977 through 1990. He only missed one National Finals Rodeo in 32 years. He designed and organized the construction of the current Morton County rodeo arena.
Other survivors include his father Carl, and his wife, Mildred, Texhoma; one son, Gerry Dougherty and wife, Mindy, Elkhart; one daughter, Jodi Peterson and husband, Paul, Goodwell, Okla.; two brothers, Johnnie Dougherty and wife, Ruth, Texhoma, and Bill Dougherty and wife, Debbie, Edmond, Okla.; one sister, Becky Ellis and husband, Leon, Elkhart; three granddaughters, Kelsi and Taysi Peterson, Goodwell, and Sydney Dougherty, Elkhart.
He was preceded in death by his mother; and one son, Jackie Lane Dougherty.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Church of God in Elkhart with Clergy Shan Hanes presiding.
Burial will follow at the Elkhart Cemetery
in Elkhart.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Morton County Fair Rodeo.
SUSAN A. POND
Susan A. Pond, 41, of Liberal, died Monday, March 19, 2001, at Integris Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City.
She was born Nov. 10, 1959, to E.E. and Marilyn (Van Dolah) Dettmer in Liberal.
She married Michael Pond Feb. 28, 1981, in Liberal. He survives.
She had been a life long resident of Liberal.
She graduated from Liberal High School in 1977, and attended the cosmetology program at Garden City Community College.
She was employed as a hairdresser at Cutty 7 for 21 years.
She was a member of the Central Christian Church, the Liberal High School Booster Board, Daughters of the American Revolution, and the Wide-A-Wake 4-H club, all in Liberal.
She was also a member of the National Cosmetology Association and the Kansas Hairdresser Association.
Other survivors include her father, of Bromsfields, Colo.; one son, Justin Pond, of the home; one daughter, Elyse Pond, of the home; her grandmother, Violet Dettmer, Liberal; one brother, Wayne Dettmer, Lafayette, La.; and one sister, Dawn Neu Miner, Oklahoma City.
She was preceded in death by her mother.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Central Christian Church in Liberal with the Rev. David Woods presiding.
Burial will follow at the Liberal Cemetery
in Liberal.
Friends may call until 9 p.m. today at Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home in Liberal.
