GWENDOLYN F. TURNER
FOWLER -- Gwendolyn Faye Turner, 93, died Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2002, in Los Angeles.
She was born Aug. 27, 1909, to James S. and Eunice P. (Moon) Turner in Burr Oak.
She married Theodore "Ted" Sease June 5, 1954.
They divorced in 1959.
She graduated from Burr Oak High School and moved to Anthony with her parents.
She moved to Fowler, where she worked for Fowler Equity Exchange Elevator.
She worked for Meade County Farm Bureau in Meade.
In 1935 she worked as an accountant and auditor for Emergency Crop and Feed Loan Office in Wichita.
She moved to Los Angeles in 1947, and worked as a liability analyst for the Veterans Administration.
She became the first woman to work as a loan processor for the Federal Housing Authority.
In Jan. 1967, she resigned and returned to Fowler ti aid her parents.
After their deaths, she moved to Los Angels and worked as a private investor in the money markets.
She was a birthright member of Walnut Creek Quaker Church.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Fowler Cemetery
in Fowler with the Rev. Harry Fink presiding.
Friends may sign her memorial book until 5 p.m. today at Fidler-Orme Mortuary in Meade.

BILLY R. WESTBROOK
CARRIERE, Miss. -- Billy Ray Westbrook, 81, former Liberal resident, died Thursday, Dec. 26, 2002, at Crosby Memorial Hospital in Carriere.
He was born to John W. and Dorothy T. Westbrook in Collins, Miss.
His companion is Nancy E. Westbrook. She survives.
He was a U.S. Army Air Corp veteran, serving in World War II.
He was a long-time Liberal resident, working as a truck driver for National Carriers in Liberal, and later an instructor at Coastal College School of truck driving in Hammond, La.
He was a member of the American Legion.
Survivors include one son, Billy Ray Westbrook Jr., one brother, John Alma Brooks, one sister, Mrs. Ramona Owens; four step-children, Arnold Fraley, Nancy Kloft, John Fraley, and Lieutisha Kersey; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. today at Honaker Funeral Home in Slidell, La.
JANE E. M. HORNEY
SATANTA -- Jane Ellen Merritt Horney, 88 died Monday, Dec. 30, 2002, at Satanta District Hospital in Satanta.
She was born April 2, 1914, to Thomas and Lillian (Graham) Wilson in Raton, N.M.
She married Roy William "Bill" Merritt Aug. 28, 1934 in Boise City, Okla.
He died June 1952.
She married George Horney.
He died March 1982.
She had been a resident of Satanta fro the past three years, having moved from Texarkana, Ark., where she resided for 34 years.
She had also been a former resident of Liberal.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church, and the Rebekah Lodge.
She had been a school teacher at First United Methodist Church in Liberal.
She attended First Baptist Church in Satanta.
Survivors include two sons, George Thomas Merritt and wife, Annie, Warren Point, Ireland; and James F. Merritt and wife, Linda, Texarkana, Texas; one daughter, Reita F. Isaacs and husband, Orville, Liberal; one brother, Thomas Wilson and wife, Henrietta, Albuquerque, N.M.; eight grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Jane; two sisters, Katherine Jensen and Lillian Friesen.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home Chapel in Liberal with the Rev. Ray Tweed presiding.
Burial will follow at Liberal Cemetery
in Liberal.
Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and 9 a.m. to noon Thursday at Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home.

MILDRED A. FINKELDEI
MEADE -- Mildred Agnes Finkeldei, 86, died Sunday, Dec. 29, 2002, at Conroe Medical Center in Conroe, Texas.
She was born April 24, 1916, to Frederick E. and Josephine M. (Hessman) Fox in Spearville.
She married Vincent M. Funkeldei Aug. 3, 1937 in Fowler.
He died Feb. 19, 1985.
She had been a resident of Meade for 65 years before moving in Oct. 1999, to Conroe.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Saint John of the Cross Catholic Church in New Caney, Texas.
Survivors include two sons, David Finkeldei, Conroe, and Dennis Finkeldei, San Jose, Calif.; three grandchildren,; and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Louis Fox and Peter Fox; and one sister, Elizabeth Shafer
Vigil services will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church in Meade.
Holly Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the church with the Father Francis Stuart presiding.
The casket will be open at the church prior to services.
Burial will be at Fowler Cemetery
in Fowler under the direction of Fidler-Orme Mortuary in Meade.
