Welton H. Brumfield, Jr.

Welton H. Brumfield, Jr. a loving son, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather was born on February 25, 1933 and Passed away at 5:55 a.m., Monday, January 25, 2010 at St. Tammany Parish Hospital, Covington. He was 76, a native and resident of Amite.

Mr. Welton is survived by his daughter, Becki Brumfield Biandolillo and husband Mike, Amite; a son, Greg Brumfield and wife Nicole, Amite; mother, Mrs. Josephine H. "MerPhinie" Brumfield, Amite; son-in-law, Danny Richardson, Amite; companion, Connie R. Evans, Amite and her granddaughter, Lindsey; 11 grandchildren, Gretchen Ockman and husband, Mike, Jared Richardson, Lindsey Jo Brumfield, Blair Reid, Chelsea Brumfield, Grant Welton Richardson, Gray Richardson and wife Donna, Ashley Brumfield, Blake Welton Brumfield, Sydni Biandolillo and Alexis Biandolillo; 4 great-grandchildren, Keegan Ockman, Kelsey Ockman, Kelton Baugh and Grayson Richardson

Preceded in death by his father, Welton H. Brumfield, Sr.; his wife, Jacqueline "Jackie" Eubanks Brumfield; daughter, Laurel "Lauri" Brumfield Richardson; brother, Claude "Hank" Brumfield; sister-in-law, Eleanor "Cricket" Vessier Brumfield; and sister, Sara Frances Brumfield.

Pallbearers are Grant Richardson, Gray Richardson, Jared Richardson, Blake Brumfield, Claude Brumfield & Bryan Brumfield. Honorary Pallbearers are Johnny Peterson, Larry Mobley, Buck Cefalu, John Bush & Ray Fontaine.

Visitation will be at First United Methodist Church, Amite, on Tuesday, January 26, 2010 from 9:00 a.m. until Religious Services at 2:00 p.m. with Bro. Brady Whitton officiating. interment in the Amite Memorial Garden, Amite, LA.

Mr. Welton graduated from Amite High School in 1951 and received his Business Management degree from LSU in 1955. He served as a pilot for SAC in the Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1958 and returned to Amite. He first owned Brumfield Tractor Co. from 1953 to 1988 and also manager of Brumfield Sales & Service in Kentwood from 1971 to 1978. He became general manager of Brumfield Motor Co. in Amite in 1971 and subsequently dealer in 1975 after the death of his father. He sold this dealership in 1998. During this period he served on the National Dealer Council at Ford Tractor Division and also served as one of five dealers in the country for a two year term on the National Dealer Council for Ford Motor Company. He also served on the board of Louisiana Automobile Dealers Association and was the President of LADA from 1977-78. He has been active in the First United Methodist Church for many years. He has served as Chairman of the Board of his local church, as the First lay President of the Council of Finance & Administration of the Louisiana Annual Conference and its First Lay Chairman for the Board of Pensions of that conference. He also served on the General Council of Ministries for eight years at the national level. He was a delegate to two sessions of the General Conference of the United Methodist Church and four sessions of the Jurisdictional Conference. He has also served as director on the Methodist Children’s Home in Ruston, LA since 1976. He was elected to board of Central Progressive Bank in 1977 and has also served and is presently serving as a Director for Blossman Bamcshares and recently elected Chairman of the Board.

Alma Marion Moore

A native of Amite and lifelong resident of Arcola, died on Saturday, January 23, 2010 at Tangi Pines Nursing Center in Amite, LA at the age of 78 years. She is survived by her 2 sisters, Mary Pevey, Amite and Lydia Hawkins, Grenada, MS; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Cleo Joseph Moore, Sr.; mother, Cecelia Vessier Moore; sister, Lorena Wimberly; brother, Cleo Joseph Moore, Jr.; niece, Judy Moore Hammons; nephew, Ronald Pevey. The family would like to express a special thank you to the Staff of Tangi Pines Nursing Center for their dedicated care and assistance during this difficult time. Mrs. Margaret Penzato Pellichino

Mrs. Margaret Penzato Pellichino, 87 years old of Hammond, died Monday, January 25, 2010, in the Richard Murphy Hospice House.

She was born on Saturday, February 18, 1922, in Independence, daughter of the late Russell and Josephine Domiano Penzato.

She was the retired owner and operator of Unique Beauty Salon in Hammond.

Surviving are her husband of 69 years, Frank Pellichino; daughter & son-in-law, JoAnn and Jerry Payne; sons & daughters-in-law, Joseph F. and Joyce Pellichino, Russell F. and Mona Pellichino; 6 grandchildren, Frank Pellichino, Darren Pellichino, Tony Pellichino, Jennifer Payne, Russell Pellichino II, Ross Pellichino; 8 great-grandchildren, Joey, Jade, Devin, Jeremy, Hunter, Britain, Madison and Triston; sisters, Mary Skifano, Angie Lamonica; brother, Sam Penzato; sisters-in-law, Fannie and Josie Penzato; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her sister, Jennie Pellichino; brothers, Nobie, Tony and Joe Penzato.

Friends will be received Wednesday, January 27, 2010, from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm at Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Hammond

Services will be held at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, Wednesday, January 27, 2010, at 1:00 pm.

interment will follow in the Rose Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Earl Joseph Charbonnet

Earl Joseph Charbonnet, 71 years old and a long time resident of Ponchatoula, died Friday, January 15, 2010, in Ormond Nursing Home in Chalmette.He was born January 29, 1938, in New Orleans son of the late Earl Thomas & Lucille Ferrant Charbonnet.

He was retired from the U.S. Navy .

Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Edith “Pat” Hoover Charbonnet; 3 daughters, Delaine Charbonnet and her fiance Steven Verdin, Michele “Micki” LeBlanc , Nanette Wetzel; 1 son, Jimmy Charbonnet and wife, Tammy; 9 grandchildren, Heather Vangilder, Kevin Thomas Warch,David Allen Verdin, Ryan and Dustin Charbonnet, Jodi Raiford, Courtney Delatte, Danielle Wetzel, and Joshua Wetzel; 7 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Kenny and Tommy John Charbonnet; 1 sister, Jean Anne Smith.

He is preceded in death by his parents; 1 brother, Richard Charbonnet; and a niece, Yvette Charbonnet Myers.

Friends will be received Monday, January 18, 2010, at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Ponchatoula, from 6:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until services at church.

Services will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Ponchatoula, Tuesday, January 19, 2010, at 11:00 a.m., with Fr. John Sims, O.P. officiating.

interment will follow in the Ponchatoula Cemetery.

Lester Cooper

Lester Cooper, 91 years old of Tickfaw, died Thursday, January 14, 2010, in North Oaks Medical Center.

He was born on Thursday, April 18, 1918, in Meridian, LA.

Mr. Cooper served his country in the U. S. Army during World War II.

Surviving are his 4 nieces, Donna Duplantis, Elaine Soileau, Betty Ray, and Katherine Broussard; 4 nephews, Leroy Cooper, Robert Cooper, Robert Schaff, and Richard Cooper; and sister-in-law, Gloria Cooper.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Donnie Tucker and Jerome Cooper; sister, Theo Schaff; 4 brothers, Robert, Jerome, Harold, and Wilford Cooper.

Friends will be received Monday, January 18, 2010, at the Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. interment will follow in the Rose Memorial Park Cemetery in Hammond.

Jean Freeman

Jean Freeman, 90 years old, died Thursday, January 14, 2010, in Landmark Nursing Center.

She was born on Friday, May 30, 1919, in Centralia, OK.

Surviving are her daughter & son-in-law, Jeannie and Ronald Clasen; 2 granddaughters and husbands, Kim and Dave Morgan, and Kelly and Brad Schroeder; grandson and wife, Kerry Wayne and Angelle Clasen; 10 grandchildren, Joseph, Jacob, and Jack Morgan, Nathan, Rebecca, Luke, Anna, and Lydia Schroeder, Gavan and Karley Clasen; and brother, David Freeman.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Mami Standly and Garland Freeman; 2 sisters, Ruthy Freeman and Velma Barnes; brother, Timothy Freeman; and late husband, Lawrence T. Larson.

Graveside services will be held at Sand Hill Cemetery in Ponchatoula, Monday, January 18, 2010, at 11:00 a.m.

Mirando Mizell Hopkins

Mrs. Miranda Mizell Hopkins, age 83, died on Saturday, Jan. 16 at her residence. She was a native and resident of Holden.

Survivors include 2 sons, Danny Carter Hopkins and Ulices Wesley Hopkins; 2 daughters, Bonnie Baughn and Shirley Taylor ; Sister, Ollie Brady; Brother Willie Mizell; 10 grandchildren ; 16 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Carter Hopkins and one son, Russell Paul Hopkins.

Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Geisler Funeral Home in Albany on Monday, Jan. 18 after 12 noon until the religious service at 2 p.m. interment will follow in Courtney Cemetery, Holden.

Elsa Mae Metz Stevens

Elsa Mae Metz Stevens, long time resident of Hammond, died Friday, January 15, 2010, at North Oaks Hospital.

She was born on January 4, 1918, in New Orleans, LA to the late Julius and Ivy Metz.

Elsa retired from a long career with Bell South. She was a charter member of Immanuel Baptist Church and she volunteered with Hospice in Hammond.

Surviving are her son, Michel Stevens and his wife, Lois of Cincinnati, Ohio; brother, Thomas Metz and his wife, Betty of Covington, LA; grandsons, Christopher Stevens and his wife, Jennifer, Warren Stevens and his wife, Bridget; great-grandchildren, Clayton, Charlotte, Cassie, and Nora.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Warren Wendell Stevens; parents, Julius Metz and Ivy Watkins Metz; and brother, Laurie "Red" Metz.

Friends will be received Monday, January 18, 2010, at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond from 2:00 p.m. until services begin in the funeral home chapel at 3:00 p.m.

Nora “Nanny” Wiley

Nora "Nanny" Wiley, 85 years old of Hammond, died Saturday, January 16, 2010, at her residence.

She was born on Wednesday, May 14, 1924.

Mrs. Wiley was born and raised in Rapides Parish, LA. She has been a resident of Hammond since 1958. She was a dedicated and loyal employee at Seventh Ward Hospital (North Oaks Medical Center) for 33 years and was loved and respected in the medical community.

Mrs. Wiley was a loving mother, grandmother, and aunt. She was well known for her bright and witty personality and will be sadly missed by her family and many friends.

Mrs. Wiley was a member at Natalbany Baptist Church.

Surviving are her daughter, Drusilla Mulkey of Hammond; son, Leon "Butch" Wiley, Jr. and wife Anna Marie; 3 grandchildren, Kim Mulkey of Waco, TX, Tammy Zievert of Vinton, LA, and Shannon Wiley McClendon of Watson, LA; 8 great grandchildren, Makenzie and Kramer Robertson, Bailey and Clem Zievert, Farrin, Preston, and Carlee Hill, and Dylan McClendon; and great-great-grandchild, Rylee Randol.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Leon B. Wiley, Sr.; parents, Alene and John Bennett; grandson, Mitchell Leon Wiley; 3 sisters and 5 brothers.

Friends will be received Monday, January 18, 2010, at the Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond from 9:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 3:00 p.m. with Dr. Rodney Taylor officiating. interment will follow in the Greenlawn Mausoleum in Hammond.
