JOSEPH RIDEAUX

Joseph Rideaux, 70, a native of Eunice and a resident of New Iberia, died Wednesday, Dec 1, 2010 at his residence at 8:43 p.m.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, December 11 at Teche Baptist Church in Centerville, at 1 p.m.

Joseph leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Lucille L. Rideaux of Centerville; a son, Lester Rideaux of New Iberia; two brothers, David Rideaux of Franklin and Lester Rideaux of Patterson; three sisters, Shirley Rideaux, Edna Gunner and Martha Mae Elair, all of Franklin; seven grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.

Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and two sisters.

Jones Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

HAROLD BERNARD SAINTES SR.

COTEAU — Funeral services will be conducted for Harold Bernard Saintes Sr., 64, on Thursday, November 18, 2010, at 10 a.m., at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church, with Father Keith Landry officiating.

Entombment will follow in Our Lady of Prompt Succor Mausoleum. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the U.S. Navy Honor Guard.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, November 17, 2010 from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. and resume on Thursday, November 18, 2010 at 8 a.m. until services. A rosary will be prayed in the funeral home on Wednesday at 7 p.m.

A native and lifelong resident of New Iberia, Mr. Saintes died on Monday, November 15, 2010, at 5:12 a.m., at his residence. He was a truck driver in the oil field industry. He was a veteran of the Viet Nam Era, having served in the U.S. Navy.

He is survived by his wife, Gloria Ortego Saintes of New Iberia; his sons, Harold Bernard Saintes Jr. of Charenton, Kenneth Ray Saintes and his wife, Bella, of Franklin and James Manly Saintes and his wife, Shannon, of Lafayette; his daughter, Nicole Saintes and her fiancé, Scott Patout, of New Iberia; his stepsons, Vincent Ducote and his wife, Elaine, of New Iberia and Eric Ducote and his wife, Christine, of St. Martinville; his stepdaughter, Marie Ducote Comeaux and her husband, Mike, of Youngsville; his brother, Mark Saintes of New Iberia and his sister, Dianne Saintes Broussard and her husband, Ronald, of New Iberia. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and nine step-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold Joseph Saintes and Minnie Gertrude Edler Saintes; his son, Heath James Saintes and his brother, Kenneth Ray Chauvin.

Pallbearers and Honorary Pallbearers will be Derrick Saintes, Zachary Saintes, Caleb King, Dylan Ducote, Taylor Ducote, Brandon Saintes, Brady Saintes, Wayne Comeaux, Stuart Simon, Vincent Ducote, Eric Ducote, Mike Comeaux, Kenneth Saintes, Jimmy Saintes, Benny Saintes, Scott Patout, Gilcey Theriot,

Slade Saintes and Jordan Ducote.

David Funeral Home of New Iberia, 1101 Trotter St. (337) 369-6336, is in charge of arrangements.

JUDY ANN CHAUVIN THIBODEAUX

Nov. 26, 1943 ~ Nov. 12, 2010

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 17, 2010, at 2 p.m., at Ibert’s Mortuary in Franklin for Judy Ann Chauvin Thibodeaux, 66, a native and resident of Franklin, who Passed away Friday, November 12, 2010, at 2:29 p.m., at the Franklin Foundation Hospital.

Burial will follow in the Franklin Cemetery. Fr. Lloyd Benoit will officiate the services.

Survivors include her six children, Theresa Faye Chauvin of Franklin; Wendy Marie Labry and her husband, Lefred, of Lafayette; Gary James Chauvin and his wife, Brenda, of Kaplan; Troy Wayne Thibodeaux and his wife, Shae, of New Iberia; Joseph “Joey” Bennett Thibodeaux of Abbeville; and Chrissy Marie Chauvin of Franklin; three brothers, Jess J. Chauvin Jr. of New Iberia, Obert Paul Chauvin and his wife, Diane, of Baldwin and Wilfred Chauvin of Franklin; and 10 grandchildren, Dominque D. Dugas, Katherine Thibodeaux, Zachary Thibodeaux, Dylynn Thibodeaux, Dexton Thibodeaux, Dreyke Thibodeaux, Tyler Thibodeaux, Paige Thibodeaux, Alana Chauvin and Becky Chauvin.

She was preceded in death by one son, Shane Thibodeaux; two grandchildren, Tony James “T.J.” Chauvin and Gary Wayne Chauvin; and her parents, Jess J. Chauvin Sr. and Laura Derouen Chauvin.

A gathering of family and friends will be held Tuesday, November 16, at Ibert’s Mortuary, from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m., with the rosary being prayed at 7 p.m. Visiting will continue Wednesday at 8 a.m. until time of service.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Ibert’s Mortuary, Inc. of Franklin.

CLEVELAND L. THIBODEAUX JR.

July 25, 1941 ~ Dec. 3, 2010

Mr. Cleveland L. Thibodeaux Jr., 69, a native of Ricohoc and a resident of Patterson, died Friday, December 3, 2010, at 8:01 p.m., in Marrero.

Mr. Cleveland is survived by his son, Shane Thibodeaux of Morgan City; a daughter, Tessie Mills of Alaska; one brother, Donald J. Thibodeaux; two sisters, Antoinette T. Hull of Ricohoc and Wanda L. Bodin of Marrero; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jackie Kyle Thibodeaux; his father, Cleveland Thibodeaux Sr.; his mother, Emily E. Fournier Thibodeaux; a daughter, Tanna Thibodeaux; and a brother, Floyd P. Thibodeaux.

The family requests that memorial visitation be observed Monday, Dec. 13, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Ibert’s Mortuary in Franklin.

A Memorial Service will be held Monday, Dec. 13, at 1 p.m., at Ibert’s Mortuary, with Father Salvino “Ruben” Primor officiating. Graveside services will be held in the Franklin Cemetery.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Ibert’s Mortuary, Inc. of Franklin.

TJ WILLIAMS JR.

TJ Williams Jr., 63, a resident of St. Joseph and a native of Garden City, died Friday, September 17, 2010 at his residence at 3:45 p.m.

Funeral service will be at Nazarene Baptist Church in Verdunville Wednesday, September 22 at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in the Nazarene Cemetery.

TJ is survived by five sons, Terry Williams Sr., William Blanks, TJ Williams III, Bryon Williams and Troy Williams, all of Franklin; three daughters, Toni Williams of Sioux City, Iowa, Crystal Williams and April Williams, both of Franklin; five brothers, Allen Ray Williams, Larry Williams, Lloyd Williams, Billy D. Williams and Darrell Williams all of Sioux City, Iowa; seven sisters, Diane Verrett, Elnora Anderson, Patricia Bolden, Leatrice Jenkins, Debra Hawkins and Gertie Rose Burrell, all of Franklin, and Holly W. Gray of Jeanerette; and a host of relatives and friends.

Jones Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

J.W. Walden

Local retired businessman J.W. Walden died Wednesday, following a short illness. He was 86.

Born and raised in Clarksville, Texas , Walden settled in Franklin more than 50 years ago where he established Walden’s Gulf service station on Main Street at the corner of Wilson.

Some years earlier he had met and courted a local lass, Vivian Naquin, while employed by the Austin Bridge Co. to build the Baldwin bridge.

The couple wedded a year later in 1941. Their time together was interrupted by World War II while J.W. joined the U.S. Army and served in Italy. After his honorable discharge they traveled together for several years on his job with Austin.

On their return to Franklin, J.W. opened the gas station on "Walden’s Corner" in 1955 and ran the business until his retirement in 1985. He also drove a school bus for almost 20 years.

J.W. loved the outdoors and spent time fishing the local waters but most of all was an avid golfer.

He also was considered by friends and family members to be "a jack of all trades when it came to fixing things."

J.W. succumbed Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2007, at 7:10 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette.

He leaves behind Mrs. Vivian, his wife of 66 years; one son, Johnny Walden of Franklin; two daughters, Linda Walden Boudreaux and husband, Gary, of Greenwell Springs, and Debbie Walden Von Werder and husband, Allan, of Franklin; four brothers, E.F. Walden of Ada, Okla., Don Walden of Ada, Okla., Gene Walden of Memphis, Tenn., and Bill Walden of Ada, Okla.; three grandchildren, Barbara Boudreaux Gilley and her husband, Hal, of Destin, Florida, Rowdy Boudreaux and his wife, Wendy, of Franklin, and Angel Delcambre Higgins and her husband, Joey, of Charenton; and six great grandchildren, Cameron and Tyler Gilley, both of Destin, Kane and Koby Boudreaux, both of Franklin, Kale Delcambre of Charenton and McKayla Higgins of Charenton.

He was preceded in death by parents, James Mitt Walden and Jewel Woods Walden; and three brothers, Elmer, Randy, and Ed Walden.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed Friday, Oct. 19, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Ibert’s Mortuary in Franklin, with the rosary being prayed at 12:30 p.m.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at Ibert’s Mortuary. interment will follow in the Franklin Cemetery. Father Lloyd Benoit will officiate the services.

BARBARA RIVETTE BARRILLEAUX

Nov. 17, 1924 ~ Sept. 21, 2010

Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 23, 2010, at 1 p.m., at Ibert’s Mortuary for Ms. Barbara Rivette Barrilleaux, a native of Oaklawn and a resident of Franklin, who Passed away Tuesday, September 21, 2010, at 5:20 a.m., at the Franklin Foundation Hospital. She was 85.

Burial will follow in the Franklin Cemetery. Father Ruben Primor of St Joseph Church in Centerville will conduct the services.

Ms. Barbara is survived by one daughter, Sherry Barrilleaux Champagne of Centerville; two sons, Ray Barrilleaux and his wife, Charl, of Jeanerette and Danny Barrilleaux and his wife, Debbie, of Franklin; one sister, Mearid Robicheaux of Baton Rouge; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Joseph “Cotton” Barrilleaux Jr.; one son, Kerry Joseph Barrilleaux; her parents, Phillip Rivette and Ada Barrilleaux Rivette; and one son-in-law, Sterling Champagne Jr.

A gathering of family and friends will be held Thursday at Ibert’s Mortuary from 9 a.m. until service time.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Ibert’s Mortuary, Inc., of Franklin.

MARY BARLOW DICKERSON

Mary Barlow Dickerson, 88, a native of Sumrall, MS and resident of Houma, died Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2010, at 2:15 p.m.

She is survived by her children, Mary D. Foster of Franklin, Carl B. Dickerson and wife, Maria, of Colma, CA, Betty R. Cothran of Franklin, Katherine D. DeFeo and husband, George, of Pollock, La. and Ray L. Dickerson and wife, Tammy, of Houma; 18 grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

Mrs. Dickerson was preceded in death by her husband, Luther A. “Spare” Dickerson; parents, Harmon Barlow and Belle Graves Barlow; daughter, Margaret D. Aucoin; sisters, L. Gardner, Eda Mae Rummels, Lillie Bell Portier and Mildred Mitchell; and brother, Maxie Barlow.

She was a seamstress, an avid Saints fan and enjoyed playing bingo. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

Visitation will be held Saturday, Sept. 11, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., at Chauvin Funeral Home, Inc.

Graveside services will be Monday, Sept. 13 at City Cemetery of Natchez, MS.
