Jackie Charles Washington , 54, a native of Patterson and resident of Berwick, died Friday, May 13, at 1:40 p.m. at Teche Regional Medical Center in Morgan City.
He was a veteran of the United States Army.
Visitation will be observed Monday, 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., at Good Hope Baptist Church in Patterson.
Funeral rites will be read at the church Monday at 2 p.m. interment will be in the Shield Cemetery in Patterson.
He is survived by his wife, Melanie Johnson Washington of Berwick; his father, Milton Washington Jr. of Patterson; one son, Jackie Elmore of Houston; one stepson, Ronald Taylor Jr. of Berwick; one stepdaughter, Latisha Johnson - Smith of Berwick; two brothers, Ralph Washington and Mark Washington , both of Patterson; one stepbrother, Melvin Francis of Patterson; four sisters, Deborah Washington of Boston, Mass., Pauline Washington Bradford of Spring, Texas , Wanda Washington Brown of Sacramento, Calif., and Betty Washington Parker of Columbia, S.C.; and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephew, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother and a brother.
Jones Funeral Home in Morgan City is in charge of arrangements.

Irma “Maw Maw Cee” LaCoste
October 14, 1915 — May 18, 2005
Irma Althea Gouner LaCoste, 89, a native and resident of Berwick, died Wednesday, May 18, 2005, at her granddaughter’s residence in Spring, Texas . She was a Methodist by faith.
Known to most as “Maw Maw Cee,” Irma always will be remembered as a lady who loved life and lived it to the fullest.
She was clearly the “head of the family,” looking out for each member in her own special way. She loved nothing more than to hear one of her grandchildren say to her, “Huh Maw Maw,” which meant to her that they were looking for her to be on their side.
She had an incredible talent when a sewing needle was put in her hands. She loved to do tatting and crochet. She made many things for her family including quilts, table cloths and doilies. Irma loved to fish and would always do her best to keep a count on her catfish. At last count she had over 104. Irma loved to read and spend time with people who would come over to her house and talk over a cup of coffee.
She had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to play and be a part of a good practical joke.
Irma had a special part in her heart for animals. She loved her dogs, Button and Funny Face, like they were her children.
She was a source of strength to many and her house will always be remembered as a place where you could run to and find a friend.
She was a beloved mother and grandmother, and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her and each life that she touched in her own special way.
She was the daughter of the late Ira Gouner and the late Nancy Daisey Gouner.
She is survived by her daughter, Lydia Lodrigue of Berwick; her son, Ken LaCoste and his wife, Nelly, of Porter, Texas ; her sister, Barbara Perrett and her husband, Joseph, of Santa Barbara, Calif.; six grandchildren, Timothy Lodrigue, Kathy Beadle, Chris LaCoste, Bridgette Boudreaux, Wanda Baker and Ingrid Aldridge; 13 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of over 60 years, Archie B. LaCoste; her sister, Lillian Mahfouz; and her son-in-law, Ernest Lodrigue.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. today, May 20, 2005, at Twin City Funeral Home in Morgan City. Visitation will resume Saturday from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Funeral services will be held in the Twin City Funeral Home chapel at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 21, 2005, with the Rev. Jim Reid officiating.
interment will be at the Berwick Cemetery.

Theophile J. Bodin, 81, a native of Ashton and resident of Centerville, died Thursday, May 19, 2005, at 10:53 a.m. surrounded by family at his home in Centerville.
Theophile was born in Ashton to Denis and Laurence Bodin on Feb. 1, 1924. He was raised with his siblings Ambrose, Irene, Hazel, Grace, Jules, Roland, Theresa, Denis, Rita and Francis.
Theophile was a member and usher of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Centerville. He was also a Fourth Degree KC. He worked for and retired from ExxonMobil after 40 years of service.
He is survived by three children, Ronnie V. Bodin of Bayou Vista, Dr. George and his wife, Pat Bodin Broussard, of Bayou Vista, and Gerald W. Bodin and his wife, Laura, of St. Martinville; three grandchildren, Michael Thomas and his wife, Sophia, of Metairie, Allen W. Bodin of Austin, Texas , and Lauren Thevenote and her husband, David, of Lewisville, Texas ; one great-grandson, John Michael Thomas; and two step-great-grandsons, Tanner Burgess and Hunter Burgess, both of Metairie; two brothers, Denis Bodin Jr. and Francis Bodin; four sisters, Irene B. Breaux of Franklin, Grace B. Haydel of St. Martinville, Theresa B. Boudreaux of Lafayette and Rita B. Darden of Charenton.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Alice R. Boudreaux Bodin; one son, Sgt. Allen Bodin, USAF; his parents, Denis and Laurence Bodin; three brothers, Ambrose, Jules and Roland; and one sister, Hazel Dumesnil.
The family requests that visitation be observed Monday, May 23, 2005, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. with a rosary service at 10:30 a.m. at Ibert’s Mortuary in Franklin.
Funeral services will be Monday, May 23, 2005, at 2 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Fr. Mayne and Fr. Landry officiating. interment will follow in the St. Joseph Cemetery in Centerville.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Ibert’s Mortuary Inc. in Franklin (337-828-5426).

Mrs. Ellis J. Romero, the former Edola “Sue” Dartez
Funeral services were conducted for Mrs. Ellis J. Romero, the former Edola “Sue” Dartez, 83, at 11 a.m. today, May 23, 2005, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in New Iberia.
The Rev. Mark Derise, pastor, was the celebrant. interment was in Holy Family Mausoleum.
A native of Kaplan, past resident of New Iberia and resident of Morgan City, Romero died at 2:35 a.m. Saturday, May 21, 2005, at Teche Regional Medical Center in Morgan City.
Edola Dartez Romero was born Aug. 20, 1921, to Michele and Aurelia Guidry Dartez. Edola was known by her family and friends as “Sue.” She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her daughter, Juanita Romero Charpentier and husband, Lloyd, of Berwick; three grandchildren, Lloyd Ellis Charpentier and wife, Gina, Christopher Charpentier and wife, Sandy, and Timothy Charpentier and wife, Shannon; seven great-grandchildren; Katelyn, Christopher, Haley, Grant, Nicholas, Zack and Tyler; four sisters, Louise Seward of Tampa, Fla., Ouida Hardin of Lake Charles, and Irene Roberts and Dorothy Migues, both of New Iberia; and one brother, Alex Dartez of New Orleans.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ellis J. Romero; parents, Michele and Aurelia Guidry Dartez; two sisters, Audrey Chaffin and Hazel Smith; two brothers, Louis Dartez and Percy Dartez; five half-sisters, Lovenia Broussard, Claire Vincent, Marie Dartez, Shoke Vivian and Belle Faulk; and one half-brother, Galvez Dartez.
Pallbearers were Lloyd Ellis, Christopher and Timothy Charpentier, Ron and Greg Migues, and Don Roberts.
Evangeline Funeral Homes, 314 East Saint Peter St., New Iberia, (337) 364-1881 was in charge of arrangements.

Goldie Theresa Naquin Thibodaux, a native of Patterson and 48-year resident of Franklin who retired to Lafayette in 1955, died Thursday at her residence in Lafayette.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Harold Thibodaux Sr.; her children, Harry Thibodaux of Lafayette, Ronnie Thibodaux of Centerville, Patti Thibodaux Theriot of Lafayette and Harold Thibodaux Jr. of Lafayette; two brothers, Harold Naquin of Jeanerette and Paul Naquin Jr. of Baldwin; three sisters, Vivian Naquin Walden of Franklin, Emma Naquin Rochel of Mississippi and Betty Ann Naquin Grow of Patterson; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, her parents and one brother.
She was employed by the St. Mary Parish Library for many years, as well as the St. Mary Parish School Board as a bus driver.
Funeral services were held Saturday at the Church of Assumption in Franklin. The Rev. Michael Russo officiated. Burial was in the Franklin Cemetery Mausoleum.
Pallbearers were Ronnie Thibodaux, Neil Thibodaux, Harold Thibodaux Jr., Stephen Theriot, Mike Theriot and Ryan Hernandez.
Honorary pallbearers were Harry Thibodaux, David Thibodaux, Paul Naquin Jr., Harold Naquin, J.W. Walden, Hale Rochel and Eddie Grow.
Arrangements were entrusted to Ibert’s Mortuary in Franklin.

Clifford “Cliff” LaDean Whipple
November 15, 1922 — May 23, 2005
Clifford “Cliff” Whipple, 82, a native of Kansas City, Mo., and resident of Morgan City, died Monday, May 23, 2005, at Our Lady of Lourdes in Lafayette. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church where he served as a Deacon.
He was a retiree of Kerr-McGee where he worked as an electronics engineer.
He retired early to pursue his calling to the ministry and dedicate his life to the work of the Lord.
He served his country proudly in the United States Army during World War I where he received three Bronze Stars during the Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe campaigns. He also served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict.
He was a beloved husband, father and grandfather, and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him and each life that he touched in his own special way.
He was the son of the late Nelson Whipple and the late Gladys Caples Whipple.
He is survived by his two daughters, Donna Adams and her husband, Digby, of Berwick, and Margaret Laurent and her husband, Roger, of Lafayette; three grandchildren, Marc Laurent and Beth of Opelousas, Mireille Mouton and her husband, Mark, of Lafayette, and Heather Morella of Denver, Colo.; and four great-grandchildren, Brittany Laurent, Kristin Laurent, Alex Mouton and Hunter Mouton.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his loving wife of over 50 years, Donna Turner Whipple.
The family received friends from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. today, May 24, 2005, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Morgan City. Funeral services were held at Sacred Heart at 11 a.m. today, May 24, 2005, with Father Armond officiating.
Graveside services and interment will be at Conway Cemetery in Leake County, Miss., on Wednesday May 25, 2005, at 10 a.m.
Twin City Funeral Home in Morgan City has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Nilah LeGhaye Smith, infant, a resident and native of Natchitoches, died Thursday at LSU Health and Science Center in Shreveport.
Graveside funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the Morgan City Cemetery. Burial will be in the Morgan City Cemetery.
She is survived by her mother, Teneka L. Gash, and her father, Randoll Smith Jr., both of Natchitoches; her sister, Milia NiGhaye Gash of Natchitoches; her grandparents, James and Carolyn Gash of Morgan City; her great-grandmother, Vera Watson Jones of Morgan City; and her great-grandfather, Joseph Gash of Morgan City.
Jones Funeral Home in Morgan City is in charge of arrangements.

Della “Shine” Glynn
June 27, 1933 — May 21, 2005
Della Mary Rebardi Glynn, 71, a native of Berwick and resident of Schriever, died Saturday, May 21, 2005, at Chabert Medical Center in Houma. She was a member of Word of Life Family Church in Patterson.
Known by all as “Shine,” she was a beloved friend to many.
She loved everybody and treated each person equally. Her love for God and people were the driving force behind her testimony and passion to talk about the Lord. She collected angels and loved to play cards, go fishing, play games and had quite the competitive nature when it came to playing Yahtzee.
In her younger days, she loved to dance with her beloved husband. She loved to work in the garden and have her “hands in the soil.”
She was a wonderful cook and loved to make meals like macaroni and cheese, boiled crabs and shrimp salad.
Shine was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother, and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her and each life that she touched in her own special way.
She was the daughter of the late John “Domonic” Rebardi and the late Agnes Blanchard Rebardi.
She is survived by her loving husband of over 53 years, Al P. Glynn Sr. of Shriever; two daughters, Judy Williams and her husband, Harold, of Schriever, and Debra Huval and her husband, Aubrey, of Delcambre; one son, Al P. Glynn Jr. of Schriever; six grandchildren, Charlie Williams, Tiffany Bailey, Bobby Williams, Kim Glynn, Julia Glynn and James Glynn; one great-grandchild, Austin Williams; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends
She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Edna Vidos, Ella White and Shirley Himel; and three brothers, Julius Rebardi, David Rebardi and Domonic Rebardi Sr.
The family received friends from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Tuesday, May 24, 2005, at Twin City Funeral Home. Visitation resumed today, May 25, 2005, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Funeral services were held at the funeral home today at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Lee Lamury officiating. interment was in the Morgan City Cemetery.
